Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:45 PM

How can Providence play this long and only pick up 2 fouls?

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:42 PM

I hate refs

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:41 PM

How have I been watching college basktball since Naismith and never seen a cylinder call until the last month?

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:33 PM

Dave has to get that rebound

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:31 PM

Of course we had 2 points and a possible FT taken away by incompetence when Braun got called for the charge.

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:29 PM

Providence has taken some really ugly shots. They only have 8 points in 12 minutes.

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:24 PM

JWil with 6 boards so far, and almost had another

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:22 PM

@jessejayhawk He probably should have tried to catch it.

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:21 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 OH, it was a miracle. The union forced a change and so it was last night and this morning!!

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:20 PM

Can't believe this game is 17 miles away and here I am in my living room.

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:20 PM

Ochai has 3 blocks already according to ESPN box and the team has 4

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:14 PM

@benshawks08 You can't expect me to be objective can you?

Friars vs Hawks S16 Game Thread • Mar 25, 2022 11:12 PM

Horrible refs....agin. Dave's getting creamed inside. Providence dude falls in the lane and sits there for 6-7 seconds. The offensive foul call on Christian was offensive

Sweet 16 Chat • Mar 25, 2022 03:43 AM

I can't get 1986 FF out of my mind when that cheater scammed us out of a chance at a NC. 26 fouls against us, 14 them. We lose by 4. If twitter was a thing then......

Sweet 16 Chat • Mar 25, 2022 03:01 AM

Where's the hand check fouls?

Sweet 16 Chat • Mar 25, 2022 02:52 AM

Nance yells for every duk basket and just matter of facts it for Techs

Sweet 16 Chat • Mar 25, 2022 02:50 AM

I respect Zags. Done an amazing job to go from the miracle mid major against Zona to a near NC.

Ochai Agbaji • Mar 24, 2022 03:50 PM

As @Jethro writes, Stephen is pronounced Steven. I too am a leading authority on the subject. In the greek our name means crowned one. For the last 10 years or so of my teaching career I've had students who see my first name on ID's or whatever tell me or ask me if my name is steffen. I first of all say my first name is Mr. to you and if we were on a first name basis it'd be Stephen with the V sound. They then tell me I'm saying my own name wrong, even going so far as one kid telling me my parents spelled my name wrong. One school I was new in the secretary was not familiar with who I was and paged me over the intercom "Miss Gantz". I guess she thought I was a Stephanie?? LOL, fun name moments.

What Time Does KU Play Iowa? • Mar 22, 2022 12:54 AM

Provided we win Friday, I'm hopefully going Sunday. KU-Miami will provide the best chance for lower ticket prices. Not spending too much though, but I pay attention to these things and those tickets will be considerably cheaper than Friday.

KU vs Creighton Barrels • Mar 19, 2022 09:10 PM

@jayballer67 said in KU vs Creighton Barrels:

Welll Nice Season

Why I don’t comment here anymore

KU vs Creighton Barrels • Mar 19, 2022 09:03 PM

I think we’re gonna win but have zero fun in doing so

@Jethro OK sir, you can stop making fun of the BIG. Illinois just took out the SEC tournament champs Tennessee.

Texas Southern Game Thread • Mar 18, 2022 03:31 AM

KU Bracket Reveal Thread • Mar 18, 2022 01:51 AM

"his cousin is Mike Conley of the Jazz" Mike Conley Sr. was in HS when I was and he played basketball against our HS. We had a great team and beat them in our gym, but they ended up winning state. Mike Sr. then won state for his school all by himself in track winning the 100, 200, long and triple jumps. He also knew how to dunk.

KU Bracket Reveal Thread • Mar 18, 2022 01:31 AM

Good Lord how much would St. Peters have beaten us by? 1/2 of my national final bracket is gone! But my other half is still RockChalkin. And seeing Iowa lose like that. Iowa fans are such jerks, kind of like ISU fans, must be something with all the pestacides that they spray there makes em all come unhinged.

KU Bracket Reveal Thread • Mar 15, 2022 03:27 AM

@DanR I've developed an almost Missouri like hate for Iowa basketball. I actually grudgingly respect their football coach, but man oh man how tiresome that hoops coach and their team is. I feel sorry for Keegan Murray playing there. Maybe he'll use the portal and come to KU!

KU Bracket Reveal Thread • Mar 15, 2022 02:30 AM

For those discussing Wisconsin they hadn't lost one game you'd call an upset til Nebraska surprised them, which they played largely without Johnny Davis. Badger fans been drooling over Milwaukee/Chicago regional ever since it looked like they were going to be a top four seed. In games decided by 6 points or less the Badgers had won 15 straight this season until, again the mess up against Nebraska. That stat is a reason I guess for the relatively poor ken pom thing, but when you keep figuring out ways to win close games it's a sign of toughness. This team is actually a really tough team from my partially biased observations. They played a tough schedule, beat highly seeded teams Purdue 2 times, 11 other wins against tournament teams. I wouldn't be surprised to see a KU-Wisconsin regional final.

Iowa hasn't been to the sweet 16 since 1999. Haha, suck it Hawkeyes. Their fan base right now thinks they've been to the FF about every other year in the history of basketball.

KU Bracket Reveal Thread • Mar 15, 2022 02:12 AM

@BeddieKU23 I'm gonna try to get there for regional finals. Got stupid parent teacher conferences (yes on a Friday night) so regional semis no go for me. United Center, 19 miles away!

Non-KU Games • Feb 21, 2022 07:26 PM

Of course I’m a bit biased but calls for Gard to get suspended are unwarranted. I was on a little road trip and listened to the game and have yet to see the fight except on tiny screens. Krabbenhoft was the asst who got slapped. He’s an all time beloved Badger glue guy type that we all would have revered had he played for KU. One Badger reserve punched someone who knocked down the other assistant coach. One MVP of the fight is the worst college player I’ve ever seen (seriously his garbage time minutes are horrendous). Higginbottom is his name and he made sure Johnny Davis got nowhere close to the scrum.

How Blue is Your Valley? • Feb 19, 2022 05:15 AM

@mayjay I don't comment here anymore, but do read still. This stuff aggravates me a lot. I'm actually rather conservative, but these 'teachers must post all materials' bills are really ways for the people pushing them to make sure no one is teaching critical race theory. I've never heard of a teacher teaching CRT, and if they did, they're teachers, they present materials that students can learn and form opinions on. I really just frankly think this stuff is a horrible overreach by legislators and teachers will leave the profession at a faster rate than they already are. I couldn't even comply with a law like that as I'm kind of a last minute kind of person and my best lessons and plans are frequently done in the days leading up to the lesson. In other words I procrastinate!

I miss commenting but there's way too many irksome people to me to find any pleasure in it right now. I like the Jayhawks and a lot of people commenting don't. So I'll just read so I know what's going on. I never had much good to say anyways!

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 11:27 PM

@kuballin10 Hey get lost. You do nothing but badmouth this team. The others I can tolerate. It figures you show up today in this chat after we're losing by 10 or so. You're just a troll. Tired of your tired old act. Everyone else is too.

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 11:22 PM

@DanR Thanks, But I can't. See you next game.

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 11:04 PM

You guys are the most pessimistic fans of a 5th ranked team I've ever seen.

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 11:02 PM

We might as well just forfeit

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 10:55 PM

@DCHawker He's known for calling it early. He's the one who called the 48 election for Dewey over Truman!

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 10:54 PM

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 10:51 PM

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 10:51 PM

Trisha or whatever his name is doesn't know how to win in this building. Looks like TV Ted was one of those refs? That's always interesting

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 10:46 PM

Well they'll never show it on ESNPNews, they're showing a game of tag on there.

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 10:44 PM

Of course ESPN may just preempt coverage of our game for talking about TB retiring, which really, what is there to talk about.

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 10:43 PM

Hoping they don't start it on +, don't want to miss a second of this one.

ESPN really baffles me that that don't allot 2:15 to each of these games.

@focojayhawk Jeff George? You mean the guy who got hurt his freshmen year at Purdue and his mom ran onto the field?

Big 12/SEC Matchups • Jan 29, 2022 06:06 PM

I suppose it's a challenge schedule wise. And then teams go on streaks. Baylor/Bama looked like a good one until Bama took their annual swoon.
