Not quite a prediction, but a fun look at which states are pulling for which teams.

Funny I've been reading a lot here on our site, and there's not many saying 'Nova has a chance. I tend to agree.

bmensch1 picked Kansas on 10/15/17 and strongly maintains his position. As much as I enjoy the Kenpom rankings, Sagarin, CBS, ESPN, SI, or whomever experts...I find their selections often flawed.

PHOF!! I agree, we all do better here than others!
@approxinfinity No, I wasn't advocating for the down vote!
@mayjay There was a slight time where @approxinfinity added a downvote and we decided we were all too nice and friendly with each other to go that route. Just for this thread it'd be nice to have!
I can see why at least a little, but I see this game as a toss up. I think it's just like Sundays game.
Rules for this thread, we can only upvote those who picked KU!
When you see a prediction, tell us how they picked our game(s) and provide the link. Comment if you'd like. Simple!
Garry Parrish likes us over Michigan in the final. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/villanova-kansas-michigan-and-loyola-chicago-create-an-unusual-but-fun-final-four/ ↗
@mayjay I think I remember reading they were coached to make sure Curry doesn't take that last shot. Someone D'd up Steph big time.
For anyone interested in knowing, our nosebleed seats in the Superdome weren't terrible. I thought I might watch the action on the screen, but my eyes were drawn to the court.
If Ken Pom has a non tournament team Penn State ranked 26th there's obviously some flaws in the ratings.
@BShark She attends Wheaton College in the Chicago area. Kind of a David vs. Goliath match!
My daughter scored a goal and had an assist against ISU Saturday in a lacrosse match. They lost though, but I was darn proud of her to do that against a big12 school!
@joeloveshawks It's not sick and twisted that you were glad Grayson missed. It's healthy and sane that you were glad he missed.
Boy there was one sequence early in the 2nd half. Duke tried to steal from De Sousa who I think slipped a bit too, and there were about 6 Duke hands in there poking scratching, clawing, grabbing. The play lasted about 10 seconds and the ball finally squirts free to Duke, and I think I saw K give a thumbs up to the referee. OK, I made that last part up.
@benshawks08 My experience when I lived in Baton Rouge in 2012. I couldn't afford the tickets but I knew someone at the semis. I said if we beat OSU find some sad sack buckeye fan or Louisville fan and offer them 100 bucks. He got me two tickets for a 100 bucks. I would guess most fans will sell through stubhub these days, but generally championship game tickets are relatively affordable. I would think if Loyola beats Michigan there will be even a larger sell off of tickets as Michigan fans travel well. Unfortunately (at least for this week) I don't live in the south anymore and can't be tempted to drive over to SA if KU makes the finals! Good luck!

@StLJhawk As a Dallas Cowboy fan it would be like watching Dwight Clark's "The Catch" over and over and over....every year the NFL playoffs came around...over and over and over and over....Makes me want to puke! I still hate watching that replay!
And Kentucky has to watch Christian Laettners shot over and over and see advertisements for 30 for 30's and cbs specials on it. All for a shot that got their team to the final four. Mario's shot was so much bigger because there is no 2008 championship if he misses.
@BeddieKU23 Thanks for the compliment! I wrote this during my lunch hour. I did forget the coaching angle. You're absolutely right. That's part of this epic game.
@Crimsonorblue22 No, I don't remember that.
They were calling yesterday an instant classic, a great game, Self called it KU's greatest game played in the NCAA tournament. I don't necessarily disagree with those assessments, but I'm asking myself why.
We of course still have great memories of what I'd say was our greatest NCAA game in 2008. The epic comeback, steal, and Mario's shot. But that game wasn't fun to watch. It was an ugly slugfest of a game, with obviously the thrilling ending.
A better game than that, especially from a fans standpoint would have been the 1988 game. 50-50 half many call the greatest half of NCAA tournament ball, but still not the greatest game. It was a rather epic upset (although I heard ESPN radio talking about how the game today needs an epic upset like in the 80's when Nova and NCS both won over legendary teams, but they didn't seem to remember KU, 11 losses and all beating top ranked OU). That game had no buzzer beater, no comeback, we just pulled away ever so slightly.
Certainly yesterday was not the first nail biter, even in this years tournament. Loyola's seen three of them alone. But they weren't calling those great games either, although they were.
But historically, yesterday falls in that category. Why? I'll try.
Two blue bloods, one of which is reviled by many/most Americans.
There was enough scoring to keep the casual observer tuned in. Sometimes close games that are defensive struggles are tough to watch if you're not partial to one of the teams.
The OAD storyline vs. the upper classmen oriented scenario. KU becomes another poster child for the stay in school title.
There was controversy. Always adds to the drama.
There was the awful then elation moment at the end. Tripper boy's winning shot was one of those ball goes through Buckner's legs or Don Denkinger aids the Royals types of moments. It was the Titans player getting tackled at the 1 on the last play of the Super Bowl. It was Willie McCoveys line drive that if it goes a foot higher the Giants win the WS instead of the rival Yankees. It was a to be much talked about moment. WE ARE LUCKY IT MISSED BECAUSE IF HE MADE IT WE"D BE SEEING THAT SHOT REPLAYED BY CBS AND ESPN FOR THE NEXT MILLENIUM.
It's do or die. Makes it much more exciting. Although they called our game with OU the game of the year, OU, despite losing gets to the FF. They then played their worst game ever.
Last college game for some relatively big names in the sport if their team loses. IF KU blows out Duke, we'd be getting a tear jerking retrospective on Graysons career showing him all dejected. At least we didn't have to see that. CBS did however show multiple shots of the Duke bench in the last minute which was kind of fun watching their pouty little faces, but I wanted to see our bench and we weren't getting shots of them.
It was a great game and proud to be on the winning side of it.
Nice post @jaybate-1-0 I think DG set the tone early by dropping a 3 from way deep like he has this year. He is indisputedly in my mind anyways, the leader of this team. Sure sometimes we question his decision making, but we've screamed virtually at Svi, Newmann, Vick and all the rest this year too for boneheadedness.
Couldn't think which to use.
The first big win for Transfer U.
DG and the Ukraine combine for Svite win.
San Antonio here we come.
Duke Choke
Refs fail in Omaha.
Self regrets calling Jayhawks Soft.
Preston regrets driving into curb
KU improves from Final 5 to Final 4 in one game.
ESPN's 10th best sweet 16 team knocks off ESPN's 2nd and 3rd best sweet 16 team.
Kansas wins Big12 and ACC championship.
Coach Self's best coaching job yet.
Coach K would have lost this game by 25 if he was playing with Kansas' lineup.
God credited for great defense on Allen missed shot.
"Duke needs this win" spoken by CBS reporter at beginning of game.
"Kansas stuns Duke" Yes Yahoo, a 1 seed beating a 2 seed is a stunner.
"Villanova playing better than anyone in tournament" From Yahoo after Nova beat teams that KU has 5 wins against in the tournament.
"Does Duke have a legitimate gripe with the refs?" This headline was just on the Yahoo front page.
"Did Duke get jobbed by refs in overtime of Kansas thriller?" Read another headline. Wow.
Yahoo being real dicks (there you go @jaybate-1-0 )
This is looking gooder
Defense
We'd have the ball twice in the first half if they reviewed calls all game
Duke never loses challenges it's against NCAA bylaws
Radio announcer on that "hello Newmann"
This game is on the NCAA who made duke a two seed.
Why are we just shooting 3's?
My insides are torn up. I'm listening on radio and even the national broadcasters are questioning the refs. Sounds like our shooting has gone cold too which doesn't help
Holy crap what was that?
Home crowd inspiring
Svi is in front of that guy but he gets the foul?
Keep an eye on k now during time outs. Make sure he doesn't spend them talking to refs!
Refs behaving. Newmie needs to get rolling. Not feeling too badly about this right now. I don't know how big 3 on Carter is, but it can't hurt.
Either team really could have a nice little lead at this point. Lots of unforced errors.
Looks like the 3 ball is working after a slow start. That's obviously a key to this whole game. I really hate Duke by the way. Just for the public record, loathe, abhor, despise them more than a liberal hates trump.
Did that reporter just talk about how bad duke wants this win for their team? What a doofus.
Can't chat much, ya'll ahead of me as I'm watching on computer. Reasonable start thus far.
Kansas makes the final 5.
@mayjay You caught me! I was in a restaurant with my folks, a rare treat, and two of my kids plus a brother, so the TV in the corner gave me no perspective on what was actually happening. I just saw the foul count suddenly change with the score. That's the only part of the game I saw. BTW, others apparently were watching on this thread and didn't like the officiating either.
I will watch because as I acknowledged KU has received fairer treatment from officials against Duke, 1986 and the end of Maui notwithstanding!
@kjayhawks I think the refs did a lot to ensure Kentucky stayed in that game against KState!
@Gunman I think you misunderstood me. Sure, KU doesn't get a lot of eyeballs locally, but being a blueblood people do watch KU play and they do receive better officiated games than others. We've beaten Duke the last two or three times we've played them in the tourney which means we either overcame east coast biased refs or there wasn't any.
Tech led 9-1 and there were 3 fouls against Nova. Ever since then, the foul count has been 12-4 and of course Tech's lead disappeared in a hurry. There are a lot more TV watching eyeballs in Philadelphia than Lubbock Texas is the lesson learned here. We have a lot more pull nationally than TTech so I think they'll get a fairer shake than Tech is getting.
Will be a little tougher to concentrate on church this morning.
The funny thing is no one is talking about whatever your original post was about! I totally hijacked your post Jaybate! I guess that makes me the ultimate di, uh forget it.
Wow, I got to give Sister Jean credit for figuring out how to troll our board!
@jaybate-1.0 Well you figured that out about me. I'm a pessimist, but guardedly optimistic tomorrow. I really think it's going to go down to the wire. And then DG is driving on a fast break for a game winning layup and gets tripped by you know whom and there's no foul called, K winks at the ref, the CBS people talk about what a heady play by Grayson, and we'll have something else to complain about until the day we go to that big AFH in the sky!
@jaybate-1.0 He has never once talked about it. He's 83 years old, is probably aware that it's a crude term, and really probably could care less. But I'm married to his daughter who is bothered by it. It's a crude term. It's offensive for personal reasons, but I just thought I'd say something about it.
