@drgnslayr No, his heyday was the 70's. I was a NJ, then Chicago kid and Milwaukee/Wisconsin was just a vacation spot. I do remember seeing him win it all, not being too impressed or anything like that. I loved him as an announcer. He was great with Billy Packer.

@JayHawkFanToo @mayjay Although I did think the same thing, just google it, I did enjoy talking about my 'insider' knowledge which is part of the richness of this site. Jayballer wouldn't have gotten the tidbit about why Joey Meyer wasn't successful from googling Joey Meyer.

@jayballer54 Ray Meyer passed away a long time ago, as did Al. Joey had a dispute with Chicago's most powerful HS coach, a guy named Sonny Cox from King HS, and he literally stopped Chicago players from going to DePaul. If you're a DePaul coach who can't get a single Chicago kid to enroll there you're a goner and that's what happened to Joey, and obviously the program has never recovered. Joey he does radio now for Northwestern and this year most likely will get to call an NCAA tournament game for the first time in school history.

For some reason, Rahm Emanuel is building a lake front arena downtown for DePaul to use basically for free. Keep in mind DePaul has an on campus gym that seats about 5000 that if they used it they couldn't fill it. They currently play by Ohare at the most nondescript arena ever built. Used to be called the Horizon, but now it's some corporate name.

Digger is still with us, relatively young at 75, and is retired. He has a well known son in law, ageless pitcher Jamie Moyer who pitched until almost age 50.

These are all names from my childhood as a Chicago kid. I lived and died with DePaul's great teams of the early 80's. Top seeded in the dance two years straight and upset in the first round, actually 2nd round as first seeds had a bye. St. Joseph pulled the shocker one year then UCLA the next who got hot and went all the way to the title game before losing to Louisville. Ray's lineup on those teams was almost entirely Chicago kids. And they were good, very good, and also independent, no league affiliation.

@BShark I live in Baton Rouge and LSU fans have been having mental breakdowns for as long as I can remember, just ask @brooksmd. They don't fret losing 3 star recruits to KU. They fret about losing 5 stars to Alabama which has been happening a lot recently.

The list seems to be getting bigger year by year. Points, RB's, assists

Marcus exploded for 36 last night for the Pistons. He's got a solid year of 14, 4, and 2 dimes per.

Speaking of Morris, Markieff is solid as well. Has had 6 double doubles since the new year. He is averaging 14, 7, and 2.

His teammate Kelly Oubre has been surprising to me, but what do I know? Averaging 7, 1 and 3.

Wiggins 21 last night, 22, 4, 2 on season.

Aldrich 0 last night 2, 3, o on season. Obviously just hanging on.

Brandon Rush played 36 and 40 minutes in consecutive games in mid january, played 3 the next and hasn't played since. Doesn't mention an injury. He's barely registered stats, 3, 1, 1

Nick Collison played 4 minutes in all of January and has a negligible statline. I can't imagine him being around much longer. I'm guessing he's another coach for them wearing shorts.

Darrell Arthur. Shady's been contributing off the bench all year. Has 7 and 3 as averages, and shooting an amazing 53% from three with some volume as well taking nearly 3 per game.

Jeff Withey is averaging 3, 2, and 1 block. And getting 1 million dollars for those numbers.

Paul Pierce is fading away to the Hall of Fame. 3, 1 and well, he barely passes the ball when he's playing apparently because he has .2 assists.

BMac, has been riding the bench a lot lately until last night when he broke out with an 18 point effort. He is average 5 per game, and 1 apiece.

Joel Embiid's been very good as everyone of you knows. 20, 8, 2.5 blocks, 2 assists, 37% on threes. He's sat out 4 in a row due to the knee contusion/bruise, and will miss at least 2 more. I'm hoping they're just being very cautious instead of something more serious is brewing.

Cheick is making 13,255 dollars per point scored. That's better than I've ever made. Happy for him, but wouldn't he be looking good in Crimson and Blue?

TRob is averaging 4 and 3. Looks like the career of TRob is going to be a backup. Hopefully he sticks around and relishes that role.

@globaljaybird I've never understood why newspapers put their content on line for free. Cheapskates like me will take full advantage of that.

@JayHawkFanToo Well Grayson never was charged with a misdemeanor, or whatever it was he was charged with. Sure he has disgraced himself, but it's kind of an apples and oranges type of thing, maybe I never should have made the comparison.

@mayjay If you start to threaten athletes with assault charges for something they've done in the course of play you open up a whole new realm of penalties in sport. Not sure I'd want to go there.

@nuleafjhawk If they find he did what they think he did, he's committed a felony according to the article. Not cool in my book!

If I could be called a non traditional student and get a room in Mccarthy hall for a semester or two I'd do it. I don't think my wife would mind being out of the house for a year!

Last year we played that epic game in AFH with OU and I remember thinking if it was this tough to beat OU at home how tough will it be to go to their place to win? And we went there, and it was easier, a little bit anyways. I was thinking the same last night. We traditionally haven't had too much problem in Waco against some of the more talented teams in the league.

@mayjay Yes, facts are great. What are the facts? 2 of our players are persons of interest in a felony. Vick hit a girl in the arm and kicked her in the face. It doesn't matter to me that he wasn't charged officially. If those are facts those are serious actions and as a father, as many of you are, I can't imagine some guy doing that to one of my daughters or sons.

@KUSTEVE Those are all words we've heard associated with our program in the last month or so. Why would I run down our program? But I'm not going to give a free ride like some do. I hope @kjayhawks is right, that the worst that has happened is someone smoked pot. Seriously I do. I love this team, follow them fanatically. I'm driving to Texas to see them play in a few weeks. But the accumulation of these headlines is tiresome.

Rape, vandalism, battery, drugs. 4 things I’d rather not be thinking about with this team. What next? Terrorism, grand larceny, malfeasance of funds, arson…? This is making me sick to keep reading about this crap. Bill Self must be going nuts with all of this. This is legacy tarnishing. This is career defining kind of stuff.

This is Cincinnatti/Georgetown/Syracuse/Kentucky/UNLV/Baylor type of crap that I never dreamed would be associated with our squeaky clean program. It makes me think I’ll have to hide my KU gear that I’ve worn proudly for the last 30 years.

It makes me doubt Bill Self which is the hardest pill to swallow right now. I haven’t given this much thought, but to heck with winning if it means winning with fools like these guys. Boot them off the team. Send them packing. Win the whole darn thing with 4 guys.

@JayHawkFanToo I can't believe I'm kind of defending Grayson, but in my humble opinion I'm thinking Bragg has done worse than tripper boy.

If Embiid had stayed, you know, valued education over dollars, then got hurt like he did, he'd be a junior right now. Imagine that!

I like the question though @Blown. I'm taking JJ I think. He's got that look/feel to be able to hoist the team on his back, albeit as a major cog with our other studs, and lead us to a championship.

We tried it with the other ones. Wigs, been there, done that, Oubre, same thing. The others aren't even qualified to be OAD's. BMac was cool of course, but he just didn't have that take over the game vibe.

Of course Xavier should be on your list of our OAD's and he was a nice piece of his team, but no one that I felt would lead us to win the thing.

I actually really wish there was no such thing as OAD's. But that's another issue.

@Crimsonorblue22 You always just see the Jayhawks side of things! I don't. I'm sitting there watching thinking, wow, I'd be pissed if I was a Baylor fan. Nothing wrong with your viewpoint, nothing wrong with mine. It's just the way I see it.

@Kcmatt7 But Bragg got arrested, Grayson didn't. Maybe those should warrant different suspensions, although I agree, Grayson probably should have been sat longer.

@Crimsonorblue22 I knew you were going to comment on that part! Anytime you have a 27-6 FT disparity, you're getting the benefit of officiating. I can kind of see why Fran tweeted what he did. He shouldn't have in his position because he further alienates himself from KU fans. And just to appease those offended by my statement, I'm the first to cry when officials screw us too!

It's kind of funny. We play #2 in the country and come away slightly dissatisfied because it wasn't super pretty, like against Kentucky. But we beat the team with the most impressive resume in the country.

The refs helped us last night. Pretty plain to me.

But Scott Drew helped us too. Why he didn't pound the ball inside against our small lineup is beyond me. When they were close to the hoop they scored. I'd like to see the shots at the rim stat that JNewell likes to quote, but Baylor could have won last night if they knew about that stat.

JJ's defense was amazing. He played bigger than 6'8" last night. Blocked shots, not fouling.

I spent a lot of 'ink' on these pages saying JJ has to prove the hype to me. Well he has.

I think if I was a Baylor fan, I'd be hacked at the refs right now. We've gotten a lot of calls.

Thought that was out of bounds on lucas, but watched the replay slowly and refs got it right.

soccer official would have yelled no advantage, play on.

A game like this is really exposing our thin bench. There's just no one to really turn to.
