This is the Kansas defense we've grown to know and love.

Pregaming Illinois • Sep 09, 2023 12:51 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 The uni's are the only thing I don't like about tonight!

Pregaming Illinois • Sep 09, 2023 12:49 AM

I honestly thought this would be a bit closer than this.

More Jaylon Magic

Pregaming Illinois • Sep 09, 2023 12:22 AM

Just saw in Instagram Bill Self saying "This is the best Kansas team we have ever seen". But back to the game.

Pregaming Illinois • Sep 09, 2023 12:16 AM

That was an impressive drive, aided by the dumb personal foul.

Pregaming Illinois • Sep 09, 2023 12:15 AM

@DanR said in Pregaming Illinois:

Hishaw is back to breaking tackles...

Would you want to try to tackle him? For that matter would you like to try to tackle Bret Bielema?

Pregaming Illinois • Sep 09, 2023 12:06 AM

Cubs get shut out, Sox getting no hit through 6, Illini losing, shaping up to be an epic day in Chicago sports.

Pregaming Illinois • Sep 09, 2023 12:00 AM

@DanR I was trying to think of his name, I think it might have been Tony Eason that led them to that Rose Bowl.

Pregaming Illinois • Sep 08, 2023 11:54 PM

Wave the wheat! Welcome back Jaylon, stay healthy please!

Pregaming Illinois • Sep 08, 2023 11:44 PM

Daniels first pass a bullet for 1st down.

Pregaming Illinois • Sep 08, 2023 11:43 PM

I wish they were playing tomorrow because I'd have driven over. Interesting matchup personally as I grew up in Illinois and have always been ready to jump on the Illini bandwagon should they ever put it all together. They did once making the Rose Bowl and then got torched by UCLA. Not many exciting moments, so of course KU has one upped them with the magical season in 2008. Don't worry, not secretly hoping for an Illini win. It just wouldn't suck as bad as losing to someone else.

Of course the other coach in this one was a Badger coach and fairly successful too. He coached Russell Wilson there and was two hail mary losses in back to back weeks from being undefeated in that season.

Exciting matchup for sure.

2024 Recruiting • Sep 08, 2023 09:56 PM

@BeddieKU23 As much as I can't stand the guy, he's going to be a great fit on the team.

2024 Recruiting • Sep 08, 2023 04:58 PM

@dylans I agree, I think they were going to become a great tandem.

2024 Recruiting • Sep 08, 2023 03:33 AM

@BeddieKU23 Yeah, I guess you're right but really did we lose anyone that we were absolutely counting on? Adams, McCullar, Harris all returning and then all the new pieces. We've got some nice experience coming back.

Nice article about future Jayhawk • Sep 08, 2023 03:29 AM

@kjayhawks Friday night! Wow, am I ever glad you mentioned that. I saw game time 6:30 the other day and thought I'm going to have to multi task since UW plays at 6:30 too. But we play tomorrow! Great! thanks!

2023 MLB Season - Royals • Sep 08, 2023 03:27 AM

@dylans Sox don't know how to draft so no loss there.

2024 Recruiting • Sep 07, 2023 04:00 PM

Is there any risk of getting some of the guys that Duke/UK usually get that even though it sounds cool and all that to load up with 5 stars that we run into the problem those two programs have in keeping guys for more than a year? If so, I want no part of guys leaving after 1 year. Ask Kentucky fans in particular what they think. Duke has done a little better job of hanging on to them, but not much and their relative lack of success is an indictment on the OAD model.

2023 MLB Season - Royals • Sep 06, 2023 04:50 PM

@AsadZ Thanks, this season has been my worst as a Sox fan, and yet somehow we're probably finishing ahead of the Royals in the standings.

Balk off last night. Sox sinking to new lows.

Sanders and the Buffaloes • Sep 02, 2023 06:45 PM

@kjayhawks Super long run for TCU from their own end zone ends in a pic right at the goal line ending that potential go ahead score. You're right, good game. Gus Johnson calls add to excitement. I like him except for games when MSU or Michigan is playing because he only yells for those teams.

Sox game shooting. • Aug 29, 2023 11:28 PM

@dylans That's awesome!

Sox game shooting. • Aug 29, 2023 11:26 PM

@FarmerJayhawk A friend just told me. Unbelievable.

Sox game shooting. • Aug 29, 2023 06:51 PM

@dylans He was an amazing OK pitcher! I know w-l record isn't the only measure of a pitcher, but a career record with almost 300 losses says something, not sure what it says. Probably the reason he never won a Cy Young award which is shocking. He actually had several seasons where he walked more guys than hits given up! But he just couldn't manage to win more games than he lost averaging about 1 more win per season than he lost. He would've driven the modern stats guys crazy with his odd metrics. I don't know what to do with him.

Sox game shooting. • Aug 29, 2023 04:57 PM

@dylans It's a little more cringe worthy for me because I've always liked Robin Ventura, but a man's got to learn how to pick his battles! I'm pretty sure the Rangers use the clip as part of its fire up the crowd bit at the beginning of a game.

Marcus Adams • Aug 29, 2023 03:49 AM

@patoh3 Great Grandson of Grizzly Adams? Wow. Yes I was serious. I have lots of teams I follow in lots of sports so it's not easy in the days of the portal in particular to keep track.

Sox game shooting. • Aug 29, 2023 01:27 AM

@nuleafjhawk I don't know. Off duty cops can bring weapons in. Some say somehow it came from outside the stadium but that would be a bullet with a lot of backdoor slider action to get up over the stadium wall and dive down to a row with three people in it. Bad guys are 3d printing guns now. Could those get through? IDK? If it was a gun inside the stadium it almost for sure was an accidental discharge.

Marcus Adams • Aug 29, 2023 01:24 AM

Forgive me, who's Marcus Adams?

Sox game shooting. • Aug 26, 2023 10:11 PM

@kjayhawks Disturbing, but disturbing goes along with being a Sox fan. From two crazed criminals beating up a Royals coach during a game on the field, to Robin Ventura getting the tar beat out of him by Nolan Ryan the hits keep on coming.

If I were those two institutions I'd just go independent. You could still schedule 'friendlies' with your old Pac 10 rivals and not have to travel across country for all of your away games.

Don't forget the revenue sports are somewhat familiar, but non revenue sports are subject to the same ridiculousness. For UCLA and USC to get to the east coast teams in the big 10 it's getting to major cities like NY, DC, and Philly. To get to ACC locations it's out of the way places like Clemson, Tallahassee, etc. I assume the big sports charter planes, but not the golf team or tennis team? IDK. What a nightmare of logistics someone is now facing in these athletic departments.

Sox game shooting. • Aug 26, 2023 02:33 PM

Not sure if this makes national news but I was at the game last night and there was a shooting. 3 2 people got hit, 1 is in the hospital. It happened in the outfield bleachers, 3rd inning, we were seated behind plate upper deck. No gunshots heard. Possible accidental firing of a loaded weapon. Strange strange strange and being a fan of baseballs strangest team just got stranger.

Semi Bad Look for KU Athletics • Aug 24, 2023 01:15 PM

@kjayhawks My wife and I were trying to figure out the proper spelling, we would have gone with you!

Semi Bad Look for KU Athletics • Aug 22, 2023 02:28 AM

@DanR Here's where I saw it. https://kuathletics.com/kansas-vs-loyola-chicago/ ↗

Good research on the mascot, so the caption writer isn't totally off kilter.

KU b-ball 2023 summer roundup • Aug 21, 2023 11:22 PM

That's one busy summer.

Semi Bad Look for KU Athletics • Aug 21, 2023 11:18 PM

Sunday KU's womens soccer team played up here in Chicago at Loyola. I wanted to go, but driving up to the north side for a 1PM kickoff after noon church dismissal was too much.

KU won 4-1 after trailing 1 nil 10 minutes into the 2nd half.

So what's embarrassing? Looking at the KUAthletics womens soccer page I noticed a picture with a caption that identified Loyola as the Wolfs. I'm like did the Loyola Ramblers change their mascot? No. But whoever wrote the photo captions must have googled "Loyola mascot" and just wrote the first thing he/she saw which is the mascot for Loyola, New Orleans!

Stadium Renderings • Aug 18, 2023 11:53 AM

@jayballer67 Basically one mans money paying for it, the Ryan all of their stuff is named after.

Stadium Renderings • Aug 17, 2023 03:06 AM

@rockchalkjayhawk said in Stadium Renderings:

Holy @#$&% is that hideous. Noooooooooo!

Well, the light stanchions at least. Wow. so many unpleasant things come to mind:

A prison cell, a Venus fly trap, a skeleton, sharp, stressful, a bunch of big dcks, a bunch of big dcks with condoms at the end, needles, spiked snow shoes, fragile, delicate, snappable, the Abominable snowman’s teeth, guns about to be fired.

So bad.

PHOF!! I vote for Venus Fly Trap!

I saw where Russells teammate Brandon Rush's son plays for Youngstown St. Fairly decent player.

KU Welcomes Flory Bidunga • Aug 14, 2023 06:32 PM

@BeddieKU23 But those top 10 guys go pro ASAP NIL or not it seems.

2024 Recruiting • Aug 14, 2023 02:40 PM

Said this on the Flory thread started yesterday, but kids highly rated like this go pro almost always so he's a one year soon to become distant memory less than two years from now, so I'll bridle my enthusiasm with harsh doses of reality.

KU Welcomes Flory Bidunga • Aug 14, 2023 01:04 PM

As it's pretty much a given these days for a top 10 kid nationally to turn pro ASAP I'm not all that excited about this. If he decides to hang around you know and actually be a college student and player, then great, but our OAD kids have never given us any real success.

Generic soccer thread • Aug 07, 2023 01:33 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Thanks for the explanation.

Generic soccer thread • Aug 06, 2023 06:22 PM

Well when you can't score goals for like 3 matches in a row, you shouldn't expect to be moving on into the quarterfinals. Funniest moment to me. In the PKs announcer "Rapinoe knows pressure" just before Megan chokes.

When Rose LaValle got screwed by the official in the last match and given an undeserved yellow, the tide was turned slightly against the US. Not positive that's a difference maker. But it couldn't have hurt.

TBH, not hurt too much, the rest of the world is catching up to the US it seems. The only thing I question is how world #3 Sweden plays #1 in the round of 16.

Johnny Furphy anyone? • Aug 06, 2023 01:03 AM

What I read about this kid is exciting. I guess not to all.

That's My Quarterback • Aug 05, 2023 11:40 PM

Jalon Daniels was is a nominee for the Danny Wuerffel trophy, a humanitarian type of award. I worked with Danny for a few years and talk to him on occasion and will lobby for Jalon to win the award.

Johnny Furphy anyone? • Aug 05, 2023 11:28 PM

Just read about this and he'll be on the team this year? Is anyone excited about this? Is this a good thing? I missed any discussion about it.
