@Jesse Newell You've gone national, at least your tweets have.

@RockChalkinTexas See my thread on that exact topic!

@wrwlumpy I have DirectTV, and get ESPN3. Sometimes it asks me to provide a cable provider and DirectTV isn't there. But that's a rarity. I am offended when something isn't offered there because I do pay for ESPN.

@dylans The irony is for us out of staters we get to watch every game, although some are ESPN3, which I understand is often blacked out in Kansas for KU games. Must be very frustrating indeed.

Fill in the blank bucketeers. We've seen enough missed dunks to create a video.

So if another KU player clangs a dunk off the rim I will.....?

Never watch a KU game again (football that is)

Vote Democrat

Boycott KU hoops from April-October

Burn my Goodwill bought KU T-shirt.

Take back my opinion that HCBS is coaching deity.

Fondly recall the days of the late '90's of KU hoops.

Still hate Missouri.

Still hate KState.

Still hate the Packers.

Still hate the Cubs.

Here's my dream for Wayne. He's TyshawnTaylor 2.0. Now I don't think TT came to us as hyped as Wayne came, but he did come with some acclaim, and as you know, we waited, waited, waited for him to grow up and act like a true blue Jayhawk. The talent was there. And when he did grow up, he nearly carried the team to the National Championship.

That's my dream for Wayne. That in the youth movement of college hoops, he, an experienced senior stud, leads this team as a true leader and carries us to KU's 4th ring. He has the talent. My goodness, it seems to ooze from him. And that's what I hope for Wayne. Role player now, major starring role a year or two from now.

What if KU makes a few of those wide open threes to begin the half?
Do we lose the learning experience of inside out because then OU is really deflated and we're pumped, the crowd is pumped, we're winning by 25, etc. That's kind of the way I saw it. Suddenly the 3's aren't dropping after a flawless start and we need to try something else.

I'm not the coaching savants that some of you experts are, so that's just what I observed. And me being me, well I just have to say it!

In 25 hours we play the OKLAHOMA SOONERS • Jan 19, 2015 03:07 PM

@drgnslayr Waymon is the only thing I liked about OU basketball in that era. When we beat them in the final I heard Billy Tubbs in the post game say he knows they are better than Kansas. (they actually were!) Totally classless idiot coach who cost that team the championship by wearing his players out and not going to the bench in that game at all except for one sub.

In 25 hours we play the OKLAHOMA SOONERS • Jan 19, 2015 03:03 PM

@wrwlumpy Yes well all know what it stands for but I still don't have a clue what that means!

I don't like this • Jan 18, 2015 10:27 PM

Joel Embiid is my favorite OAD at KU. He's the only one I've ever really been attached to and was truly sorry to see go. I don't like the sounds of this, but hopefully he's ready to go next season.

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/24974306/report-joel-embiid-weighs-around-300-pounds-skipping-conditioning ↗

@BeddieKU23 Exactly, and that's what I don't get about Alexander's benching for the same reason. At least Cliff gave 6 points and 6 boards. In the first half, in effect a double double.

Let's hope it serves as a motivator. We need the team gelling in March more than we do now.

KU/ CLONES Predictions • Jan 17, 2015 11:20 PM

Defensive slugfest with KU winning by one point, something like 4-3.

Iowa State Cyclones • Jan 15, 2015 07:16 PM

@wrwlumpy You're right, he's still one of my favorite coaches.

@RockChalkinTexas It happened so fast that maybe Niang can be excused for not making the pass thinking clock might run out. I was actually pulling for ISU as I really can't stand Drew and Baylor.

@jayballer54 I'm not trying to be harsh here, but here goes. You have good things to say. Slow down and write it in proper English. It's tough to read without punctuation and sudden shifts in topics within the same paragraph.

I watched the end of the game you watched. The game revealed the quality of the coaches even though ISU lost. 2 minutes left, crunch time and Baylor is out of TO's. ISU had 3. I don't know what happened earlier in the game, but to leave yourself with no TO's is inexcusable. That being said Freddie should have called one at half court to set up one last shot instead of the 4 second fast break garbage they threw up at the end.

Again, keep writing, just clean it up!

"Wooden Watch" • Jan 15, 2015 12:04 AM

@justanotherfan Frank the Tank Kaminsky will play tomorrow against Nebraska. I watch a lot of UW and he is a difference maker.

Where Have All the Long Men Gone? • Jan 14, 2015 09:02 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Wow, Zaga is huge!

"Wooden Watch" • Jan 14, 2015 06:06 PM

@joeloveshawks I don't know enough about most of those players listed to determine if Frank deserves to be on the list. In some ways it speaks to the strength of our program this season that we don't have any stars worth consideration as a Wooden winner.

@joeloveshawks I grew up in Downers Grove, Although I don't live there anymore, I still have to keep from physically threatening someone whenever the Bears are on!

@joeloveshawks Well, Garnett is from the same neighborhood in Chicago as Cliff and near to Jamari!

@benshawks08 Thanks for the Greene explanation. I came home from a game and had to watch the KU game on semi fast forward before bed time. Didn't really allow me to fully grasp what was going on.

@wrwlumpy I'm from Chicago and I even got a technical once at a KU intramural game. My teammate came into the game without checking in. He got T-d and I slammed the ball on the ground for his stupidity and I got T-d up too.

In all seriousness I hated the T against Cliff because it was bogus. He did nothing wrong except flex his muscles. He knew he was going sportscenter with that throwdown. He's a freshman. Let him show some emotion!

I hated Jamari's T. I hated Oubre's bushleague move for starting that whole stupid episode. I work in an environment like that that kids start fighting over the exact same thing. He bumped me, he said something to me, etc. etc. The difference is I teach kids, not grown men.

Brannen Greene all of three minutes played.

We beat the crap out of Forte. That poor boy is counting his bruises and limping to advanced basketball theory class right now.

We did play some defense.

ok guys , lets try and keep it real • Jan 14, 2015 01:00 PM

I'm one of those fans @jayballer In fact, I think it's a done deal that we will the next 11 as well, undefeated most of those years. We will, I'm going out on a limb here, but I believe we will be the eternal Big12 champs.

Nice write up on Alexander • Jan 13, 2015 04:04 PM

It was a good article. A few mistakes in the article however always makes me question other facts in the article. The neighborhood Cliff is from is called North Lawndale. It's not a suburb as the article states, it's a Chicago neighborhood. It's rough. I've spent time there working with the poor there. It's the neighborhood where Kevin Garnett, Ronnie Fields and Anthony Davis played HS ball, among many others.

Secondly the writer mentions 'private schools' recruiting Cliff after his sophomore year. Both Curie, where he played, and Whitney Young, where Okafor went. Both are public schools. Whitney Young is a fairly elite magnet program in the city near downtown. Curie, I believe, is also a magnet school.

Good article though, just some factual problems with it.

OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYS • Jan 12, 2015 05:39 PM

@globaljaybird I don't remember that name obviously, but I do remember Dumas. He was a beast. Thought he'd do better professionally.

OSU • Jan 12, 2015 04:03 PM

@BeddieKU23 Thanks for the heads up! I thought I'd read it was on the road.

OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYS • Jan 12, 2015 04:02 PM

@globaljaybird Your nephew played for KU? What was his name if you don't mind me asking?

OSU • Jan 12, 2015 02:31 PM

Wow, an experienced team. They may not be as talented as OSU teams of the past, but experience against youth evens the playing field. Then the prospect of beating a team like KU means they'll be amped up, not to mention it'll be one of their few sellouts of the year. We haven't handled environments like this very well in recent years. Danger KU!

Happy Happy in the Old Fieldhouse! • Jan 11, 2015 10:42 PM

Or you could say playing TT makes everyone happier!

KU v. TT Chat here • Jan 11, 2015 07:19 PM

By the way, does anyone know if Jesse's live update was going again? I enjoy the banter there, but like some of you, the format isn't very user friendly in my opinion. I'm probably content coming here for future games when I can, but Tuesday, another soccer conflict arises!

KU v. TT Chat here • Jan 11, 2015 07:17 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Well I wasn't here because I was at my daughters soccer match which is way more important than a KU-TT game. I did watch the first half on my DVR, then had to leave for the LSU game which was in the evening.

KU v. TT Chat here • Jan 11, 2015 06:54 PM

@brooksmd Did you watch the LSU game? A friend gave me four tickets. The tickets read 'Courtside Club". We showed the tickets to the usher, he said "hmmm. you must know someone". I said I do. The usher took us to a little lounge with some tables couches and a small buffet.....And Shaq! Of course I said hi to him. Not to be outdone, someone points out that Roy Jones Jr. the incredible boxer is in the room too.

We go to our courtside seats and watch a great game with Shaq about 20 feet away. Roy Jones leaves early, walks behind me and I catch his eye and give him a thumbs up and he pats me on the back, but of course with the passing of time it will be that Roy Jones punched me! Fun night for sure.

Of course when I was on TV my Jayhawks hat was clearly visible, as it was in the courtside club!

@wissoxfan83 I should add BRush seems to not have recovered fully from his knee troubles. He plays a few minutes for Golden State, but he might be part of a championship team too!

Tarik Black Trending • Jan 10, 2015 01:37 PM

@icthawkfan316

I try to look at the guys output when I can. Aldrich has enjoyed a revival in NY, and TRob is playing some more significant minutes on a very good Portland team. Withey is barely sniffing the court in NO after showing signs last year he'd play more. Pierce and Gooden are teammates in Washington although Drew doesn't play much. Darrell had been contributing until several weeks ago and has had several DNP's. The twins are doing well, with Kieff in particular taking on a starring role. BMac is continually improving and shows up in the highlights spectacularly.

Uh Oh • Jan 10, 2015 02:28 AM

I know there's lots of new posts here, but this one is a tad alarming given our history last year with another big.

Bragg Commits to KU! • Jan 09, 2015 06:09 PM

The other night when the live blog didn't work at CJonline with @JesseNewell I decided to try the live update at KUSports. It wasn't too bad, but then someone suggested Self take Perry's scholarship and I jumped over here, started a chat that went well.

Here's what I miss at KUSports. The articles are good and set up our lively discussions. We've gotten away from posting those articles here as discussion starters. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea, although I like our "articles" as well.

With Carlton Bragg here maybe we can now call it Self's boot camp at Fort Bragg.

Kentucky Escapes in OT 89-86 over Ole Miss • Jan 08, 2015 05:39 PM

@justanotherfan A missed FT against Kentucky really hurt us last year. This year, we're a year older, but generally Kentucky is not. UW is shooting lights out from 3 land this year (except last night!) and playing their usual stout defense. I know Kentucky would be favored but they don't want to play us again.

Post game thoughts on Baylor Game. • Jan 08, 2015 02:05 PM

@KUSTEVE

People are down on Perry, but he did block three shots, which by logic were near the rim. I know you can't say if even one of those goes in we lose, but points were precious and he prevented probably 2-6 points from being scored. That's a game changer right there. Overall Baylor's interior offense was not good. I saw the shooting percentages on their bigs and they were all around the 25% range. That's a testament to all of our bigs defense, including Perry's. Offensively, yes Perry has not shown he's capable of playing without the protection of an Embiid or Withey that he's had in the past.

Chat here!! • Jan 08, 2015 04:18 AM

@DanR Internet was down at baylor so there was no live update.

Chat here!! • Jan 08, 2015 04:13 AM

@joeloveshawks I just checked stats, perry had 3 blocks. That might mean 6 points he prevented. That's big.
