How crucial is this up coming series against Indians, I'd love to see royals sweep them in front of home crowd
@mayjay Sorry I misspoke. By no means it is a fact. It is only my opinion based on my observations and how I view the performance.
You certainly have a right to have your own opinion which could be different than mine.
@JayHawkFanToo I was referring to above average and not Elite players as were you in the earlier post and both will agree that Royals had several above average players. In addition I was talking about the past, back to back world series, that you had mentioned in your post, and not this year. That is why I had included Davis. We had a dynamite bullpen, HDH, going into 7th with a lead would be an automatic win, Yost did not have to do much. Fact of the matter is that Ned is a below average manager.
@JayHawkFanToo Hoz, Moose, Salvy, Cain, Gordon, Duffy, Davis, are all above average, I can name a few others
I hope Yost retires after the season as Dayton will not fire him, he is below average.
Soria had a good start to the season but lately he has been faltering, seems his confidence is down. Can he be sent to minors? I'd rather see Kevin M in his place. He was throwing the ball well.
@jaybate-1.0 I am referring to 7ft although he is listed at 6' 11" in below link, he is # 10 rated recruit.
I like this deal, gives Royals lot of options for LF, RF and DH.
I read that a Big (footer) has left Western KY. Don't know much about him. Could he of help, someone KU should pursue?
@brooksmd I saw an interview of Jeff F, MLB reporter for Royals, and he said that Moore is looking at a starter and also some help for bullpen. It wont be a blockbuster type of deal but something that can give help to starting rotation
@mayjay Our President will provide more protection, complete ban of all Muslims, only if fake news can stop the Russia collusion garbage.
@approxinfinity We have to kill Obamacare, no matter what, its got to go. Our President is working so hard but the damn Senators. Why don't they do it, its not so hard.
Fake News is another distraction. They cant let him do anything, everything about Russia. Its got to stop.
By the way I forgot one point. Not only he will make American great again, he will protect Americans. He will build for us a beautiful Wall. It will be see through.
@DoubleDD I am rooting for Our President for the following main reasons
-
Drain The Swamp
-
Kill ObamaCare
-
Make America Great Again
I hear you about the whole Russia witch hunt thing, who cares. Right. I mean why don't the Fake News talks about President Draining the damn Swamp.
And Obamacare. What a Disaster. He will get us the Healthcare we need. Only if our own Republican Senators can help him. I wonder if they their own agendas.
And its just a matter of time when he will Make America Great Again. What a mess it has been in since 2008.
With Indians, Twins and Yanks losing it was a good opportunity to gain some ground but hope Royals win the next two and take the series. To compete for a playoff spot we desperately need one more starting pitcher.
It will be tough to get a W against Kershaw, the guy has not allowed a run in his last 3 starts. Let's hope Indians lose today to keep the differential to 3 games.
Hopefully First Row Sports will stream these games
For quite some time I have been wanting to start a new thread asking fellow Jayhawk fans about their favorite BB player under Self. On the topic I would put Cole as my favorite player for many reasons several of which are highlighted in this story.
He never had any off court issues while at KU
He married his only girlfriend from KU
He is always back in Lawrence every summer, at times doing camps
He is always encouraging current players, always teaching them
And reading this story you get to know how big of a heart he has, genuinely fine individual, extraordinary
This Lavar dude is something, a notch above Xavier's dad. I am wondering how Self would have handled him if Lonzo was going to KU, lol
I do not like Bautista and Donaldson. They are arrogant players, especially Bautista. They can cause chemistry issues in the clubhouse. I think we need at least one quality starting pitcher.
Royals have turned around the corner and have saved the season. From 10-20 they are now 42-40 despite missing their best pitchers. With AL being so tight it will be an interesting and fun H2, most likely come down to wire.
It is good to see O coming back although the games have been against some of worst teams in NL. I would be encouraged if bats continue to swing well against some of the better teams in AL, starting tonight.
@mayjay I am hoping Boston & Baltimore will become aggressive buyers as their battle heats up for WC spot.
@Kcmatt7 I hope we can package Chris Young in any deal, please please
@Kcmatt7 Hosmer is hitting much better now, he has raised his average quite a bit in one month. We may get some prospects for Cain too.
I see your point. I feel that if we get a good offer right now go for it.
I like your optimism but the fact is that this not a very good time, extremely inconsistent. They haven't put together a good run the entire season and I just do not see it happening. If I was Dayton I will be looking at all trade deals. This division will be won by Indians.
I read that a redshirt safety has left KU program. He wants to become a RB and will be looking at a program where he can get this opportunity. I am not sure if this departure will have any impact on the program.
I heard that Svi has withdrawn from the combine due to an ankle injury. That's a bummer, wish him the best.
Its time for Dayton to start negotiating trade deals on Hoz, Cain and some pitchers, lets load up the farm system.
Bill is overall a better coach but Roy's record is better in NCAA tournament. Bill seems to get tight in NCAA, elite 8 is his Achilles heels. Having said that Bill is changing and adapting his coaching so I am optimistic about his future in the tournament.
Royals offense is beyond pathetic, it needs a shake up. I feel so sorry for Kennedy, the guy has pitched so well but his record is 0-2 with two no decisions.
I think Svi will not be back at KU. If he doesn't get in the L he will go to Europe, no guarantee for him regarding playing time next year. I wish him the best of luck in the draft.
Not a good sign
I hope Royals send Straham to minors before he loses more games. His confidence is shaken up and he is still very young. Let him work out mechanics and bring him back in the future. In the mean time bring in another right handed arm from Omaha.
He had committed to Townsend but had to come out due to course work issues, I believe he had failed a class in his senior year. Then he joined a military high school for one year.
@HawkChamp I can understand your concern and anything can happen in the tournament. I feel that this team is on a mission and all players has bought in the team first concept. They have learned the lesson from past mistakes and they are determined in achieving their goals. I also feel that Self has changed a lot this year in that he is letting them play with a free mind. This has been a huge factor in the success this season. Self's coaching has been brilliant.
This is best KU team under Self since 2008, that's how I feel.
Does anyone know about links to CBS or ESPN for watching full game replay
Purdue is a nightmare match up for KU, team with great size and >40% trey shooting. Biggie is a double-double machine and they have solid guards who can shoot. KU has not faced such a team this year. Baylor come close but they shoot treys in mid 30s. KU will have to execute game plan flawlessly to win this game. I am scared on this one.
Real nice work, I admire your taste
He looked much more athletic yesterday, he had a good bounce and was running the floor hard. He showed good rebounding skill as well.
Nice move by Self to give him PT, Shaka got out-smarted
Ralster, these guys are veterans, they should be well aware that being #1 would matter in early April but not just yet, let Gonzaga and Villanova enjoy the top weekly rankings
I would not mind a 2 or 3, let the guys play with a chip
Bill Walton, what a nightmare to watch & listen
When coach K reinstated Allen from his suspension he was criticized on this board for being too soft and that suspension should have been much longer. Now some posters are saying who knows better than coach when JJ doesn't get any suspension. Some folks have said that kids will be kids but don't realize that these are not ordinary kids. They are student athletes on full scholarship with many other benefits representing an elite program. They get enough counseling on importance of avoiding conflicts. They need to conduct themselves in a civil manner. I think coach has put himself in a bad spot by not taking action on this case especially when so many off the court issues have happened this year. What message has he sent to other players, you won't be punished if you're a super star like JJ.
Lets be honest with ourselves, Coach Self has a double standard on such matters. I am not taking anything away from him on what he has accomplished as a Coach and I have praised him immensely. However, on such legal matters he treats players and staff differently, recall how he handled the situation related to Snack, Traylor and now JJ versus how he handled Green, Mario, Bragg etc. JJ is a great player, best OAD KU has had so far, but there is no excuse for not suspending him and Coach is calling him a Great Ambassador for KU.

@BShark Coleby is still recovering from his ACL tear in summer of 2015. It usually takes basketball players longer than any other group to fully recover from that kind of injury.
Also, are you aware that KU is still going to be pretty thin in front court depth next year. We'll see if Doke has recovered 100% by then, Lightfoot is still a work in progress, who knows what we'll get out of Bragg next year and finally there's the issue of whether or not Billy Preston will even get through the NCAA Clearinghouse or not. Coleby will be an important player to have because he can be a steady presence like LL when he's 100% next year.
To the effect I'd like coach to give some PT to colbey during the next few games. This will increase his confidence for March and will help keep Lucas fresh
Very well said, he is becoming an elite coach
Bill needs credit, he has really taken his coaching up a notch this year. He is lot more flexible. He is letting them play with a free mind. He is adding a few tricks, mixing in zone D much more often, press more when needed. He has been a great coach and now he is taking himself to elite level.
