Its also a case of a kid quiting. He could have stuck it out and been developed. I guess it's a lost art now

In some articles when he committed the development of KU was mentioned. That he could be the next Mason or Graham. Maybe they were sore that KU kept recruiting and landed Harris? If that is the case...well bye...

Mcride gone • Sep 21, 2019 06:14 PM

Ryan on the Phog saying that it was a case of McBride not being good enough but it was him and his family that decided to move on. Self would have happily kept him around as an end of the bench player especially with the guard depth being so relatively thin (lots of wings and post guys though).

I understand on Moss now, the syntax confused me.

I meant you said it in the past about dok.

@BShark just a pic, 🤣 no rumors or rumours. Gals notice these things, McBride never smiled either.😳

Okay. I know you mentioned it with doke too. It was obvious with grimes. Other players mostly seem to be pretty happy to be here.

@dylans very fair my man

If Bill Self were suspended for a year... • Sep 21, 2019 04:02 PM

@dylans his injury really impacted his game. His shooting will always hold him back but he is still above average overall.

@Crimsonorblue22 seems to think Moss is already unhappy so I wonder what that would mean.

@BShark I really hope so, but injured Ochai down the stretch was very average. I mean I really really hope he can reach that potential we saw his first games. I like Ochai and his attitude a lot!

Health goes a long way. Healthy Garrett and Ochai are good players.

@dylans I feel Ochai can get there, he the 2nd best guard on the team.

WVU is a bad team. 119th in total offense, 92nd in scoring offense.

They are also 74th in scoring defense and 61st in total defense.

KU's offense is ranked 78th in total offense and 86th in scoring offense.

KU is ranked 36th in scoring defense, 65th in total defense.

Interesting stats. You would think KU should win but as we have seen, the best KU team doesn't always show up.

WEST VIRGINIA TODAY • Sep 21, 2019 02:23 PM

Would love to see another Jayhawks win. We need it right now.

2020 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2019 12:58 PM

@jayballer73 It's definitely going to get rough but then it will get better. Louisville is the perfect example. They got hammered and recovered.

This current class is not going to have any star appeal.

Edit: Louisville didn't even have a recruiting class in 2018? Is that correct? Showing as no signees that year for them.

Mcride gone • Sep 21, 2019 12:51 PM

People that know much more than I do are saying this is simply because McBride didn't have it. If correct then @HighEliteMajor pretty much hit the nail on the head. Was a funny post either way.

Mcride gone • Sep 21, 2019 12:48 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 If that's the case the RS will likely come off now. I think the academic RS thing is correct though. We will see.

Mcride gone • Sep 21, 2019 11:44 AM

@approxinfinity Harris has to rs due to academics I believe.

Sounds mutual. Also the decision was made Tuesday apparently. Really sounds like he was the 13th guy on the roster.

Seems like it was mutual when you read the release. Hard to have 13 guys.

I think worst case scenario is vacating games Silvio played in and some recruiting restrictions. If the NCAA goes much more than that they’ll have to give Zona and NC St. the death penalty

Still beat Duke, I saw it.

From a KC star article

KU coaches meet with Thor

KU coach Self and assistant Kurtis Townsend on Thursday made a recruiting visit to the Atlanta area to see J.T. Thor, a 6-9 senior forward from Norcross (Georgia) High School. Thor, who visited Oklahoma State last weekend, will attend the Oct. 4 Late Night in the Phog as part of an official visit to KU. Georgia, UCLA and Kentucky are are also on his list of schools. He’s the No. 52-rated player in the recruiting Class of 2020 according to Rivals.com.

“At this point right now it is definitely Kansas. They’ve probably made him No. 1 priority the most,” Thor’s brother, Jal Thor, told Cats Illustrated. “Georgia has been on him very hard too. They’ve been calling every day. They’ve pretty much said, ‘You’re our No. 1 guy. We have Anthony Edwards, We need somebody to come in and do what he does just like you, and be on your way out.’ They’re kind of pitching that.’’

Jal Thor added: “Right now we’re kind of still up in the air. We’re listening to what everybody has to say. We want to see kind of what everybody else is doing because he wants to play with a really good guard. That’s why Oklahoma State is in there because they’re close with Cade Cunningham. UCLA has Daishen Nix. So he wants to play with good guards so he is watching that closely. Right now we’re just taking it slowly. He’s probably going to pick somewhere by November, but he probably won’t sign until late.”

Not a fan.

Apparently he is visiting for late night as well. Really tough to get a read on this class.

What do you like about Kalkbrenner? I was really underwhelmed with his tape and thought he was a real project. He just really underwhelmed me as an athlete besides his shot blocking ability. Maybe he's a system guy that gets in some where and really develops. I'll check around to see what else is out there on him.

Bradford is a big dude. Seemed like someone you could mold in this system. His 43% FT shooting though was a turn off.

Muscadin seems like he could be more a 4 then a 5 unless he puts on good weight.

Great shot blocker, has potential offensively to develop a mid-range game at the very least. Looks like he needs to bulk up a bit though. Overall I trust the KU program to turn him into an effective cog by year 2 with the potential to start down the line.

None of them are an elite option, I just think he offers more than the other two. Looking into it more I would definitely take Muscadin over Bradford and I do feel like Bradford's visit to KU is because of the newfound Mokan ties. You want to keep that pipeline open. We will see how it shakes out.

BeddieKU23 said:

I don't think we can land both Love/Thompson but if Self did that would be some home run recruiting there. I'm holding onto the belief we need 1 of Love/Thompson/KK and losing on all 3 would be a bad look. We'll see how this plays out

I'd agree with this. Just really need one. Anything beyond that is gravy.

I'm assuming since we went in-home that KU is interested in him.

This is a strange cycle already. Do you get that vibe?

Super bizarre cycle. There's some rumors flying around that Cade Cunningham isn't done to Okie Lite and that UNC is actually his preferred destination. Only his brother is keeping them in contention. If that's true, could set off a domino effect of Love and/or Thompson getting pushed to KU.

2020 Recruiting • Sep 12, 2019 06:31 PM

@BeddieKU23 I think it's weird that we haven't heard that KU leads for anyone. We also don't really have good official recruiting coverage now. Matt Scott is pretty much the best we have regardless of what people think about him, but he works for kusports now and isn't putting as much out there.

I am not sure who I like better between Muscadin and Bradford. I'd take the Kalkbrenner kid over either though. Wondering how much of Bradford visiting is KU has three MOKAN kids on the roster now.

2020 Recruiting • Sep 12, 2019 05:45 PM

@BeddieKU23 yeah they seem to think he is theirs to lose. I do not know where he ranks among KU targets.

@Hawk8086 the staff doesn't appear to be selling a starting spot. Certainly not at the 5. Enaruna and Wilson can both play the 4.

Good grief, Hudy was no where near the head coach, as a comparison. Just ridiculous. She was just the strength and conditioning coach. That’s all. She was a role player. She had a job.

And she wasn’t a miracle worker. She wasn’t a savior.

It will be quite amazing when KU basketball survives just fine without her. In fact it will be quite amazing when we notice zero difference.

I wouldn't consider myself anti-Hudy truther like some on the phog but I must agree with most of this. The AD played up Hudy but she is replaceable for sure.

Edit: Wow, typing on mobile with autocorrect is brutal. This post should make sense now lol.
