Exactly. Hopefully KU still gets a shot.

@Kcmatt7 He isn't with the team yet which will hurt his chances imo.

@BShark Garrett will be a great defensive spark plug coming off the bench. His decreased minutes will allow him to go full bore!
Who's starting over him?
Moss is the only possibility.
His minutes are not dropping much either way though.
@Kcmatt7 Pass the beer. This would be a brutal miss.

With Self saying Dave is the "best big man shooter" does that mean he starts over Silvio at the 4 and we get the traditional high low with serious size? This team gives Self lineups to use his old high low system and also the 4 out stuff he has used the past few years. Should be fun to watch.
I think Silvio is starting, at least at the beginning of the year. Self and Silvio I think feel as if they owe one to the other. Silvio could have easily went pro (and before anyone asks, not the NBA) after this year, the way I understand it he had good offers but he wanted to come back and play for KU and Bill.
Regardless of who starts, Dave is going to get some minutes. It's a great three headed monster that I think gets about 70 of the post minutes.

Agbaji is going to tear it up this year. This team can be a juggernaut defensively, and mix and match defensively.
This is one thing we are in agreement on now.
I've seen the light @HighEliteMajor

Bill likes Garrett, it doesnβt matter what we think! Dudes gonna get playing time.
Ding ding ding.
@Marco Looked like he is 14 years old.
Sounds like he will be a Tarhole.
Garrett is going to play over 20 minutes a game so plan accordingly.
Marco said:
@BShark I didn't say Moss would, said I'd pass on the kid from Puerto Rico (who will - if we sign him - be a Moore).
It was someone else on another forum, the 24/7 board. I ended up finding the post. That guy also thinks Jalen will start as well which I disagree with.
@Crimsonorblue22 EJ I think

@Gorilla72 had to be demoralizing to jalen to have tyshawn dribble between his legs. π₯
Might help him realize he is a 4 here lol
@Crimsonorblue22 we good
@dylans have no doubt he gets two good guards unless the ncaa destroys the program.
@dylans Bill is targeting every pg in the 2020 class
@KUSTEVE Wilson was awful, so he goes in the yikes category.
@FarmerJayhawk he did indeed, best big today but I know scrimmage
@FarmerJayhawk Full court press for Thompson imo.
FarmerJayhawk said:
I'm up for a buy game at Allen if they want
Haha, they would NEVER go for that.
KUSTEVE said:
I guess they don't want to play us nearly as bad as before, eh?
Their fans do. GREGGGGGG wants no part of it.
Best teams of the last 10 years statistically from Torvik.
Big 12 very well repped.

I would be stunned if the rotation is beyond 9 guys. Each of the 9 has a pretty defined role for this time of year. Wilson, Garrett, and Moss are really the only ones in flux. And ideally Moss fits like a glove at the 2 so Garrett can be a do it all guy off the bench. And no way Garrett RS's barring injury. He's our 2nd best PG and best perimeter defender. No idea why you'd take that guy off the floor on a team that needs ballhandling and perimeter defense.
Garrett taking a RS is the hottest take I've seen since the Dave should RS take on the phog. Neither will RS like you said barring a medical one.
Oh and never ever feel bad for WSU fans. If you ever get the urge, go to shockernet for just 5 minutes.
@Texas-Hawk-10 From what I've heard Wilson is the type that will battle and fight to get his minutes. Would love to see it.
I would agree last year wasn't a great example.
But say

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/kansas/2015.html β
I think next year could end up like this where there is a fair bit of depth but outside of the top few guys it's not great.
@BeddieKU23 Lost their two best players from a 22-15 team. You hate to see it...
@Texas-Hawk-10 If you don't mind, how do you define willingly? Also what is your minutes threshold. Last year the 9th and 10th guy were over 300 minutes and both around 10 a game. The depth the previous two years was bad but going back to when Self has real depth the 9th guy does tend to at least get some run.

@BShark, @Marco also believes all 4 freshman will play 10+ mpg next year.
I think it's a good development group and Tristan Enaruna looks like an elite level prospect later on, but Jalen Wilson is the only freshman who might play big minutes and that's largely dependent on Mitch redshirting, and even then Wilson may not play 10+ mpg with the depth KU has.
We see it fairly similarly. There is no way all the FR play 10+ minutes. I do think Mitch takes a RS and that Wilson ends up getting there on minutes. I believe that if Mitch didn't RS, he'd play more.
Someone recently (don't remember if it was here or elsewhere) that they could see Moss going the Moore route. I simply do not see that AT ALL. He's 6'5'' and can shoot + defend. His defensive numbers not being great are in part due to Fran switching defenses frequently and having helter skelter rotations. I actually think Moss could really shine under Bill. The BIG is also kind of a meat grinder compared to the Big 12.

I tell potential student athletes all the time that when you are picking a college you are really picking a coach. A good coach can help you develop. A bad one could make you hate the sport, and possibly fail academically while you are at it. Maybe a coach that is good for you is bad for someone else, or vice versa. And this isn't just for head coaches. Its also for assistants. Often, assistants have a more substantial relationship with non-starters because they led the recruiting efforts. When those people leave, it changes the program for those student athletes. But those people can leave (and I am not arguing that they shouldn't be able to) at any time with no penalty.
YES.
Some players are just a bad fit with some coaches. For better or worse, Self coaches hard. This can lead to flameouts with kids that aren't as tough mentally. Not even saying they are bad kids but in hindsight it's easy to see why Grimes was a bad fit. Only one or two guys were really putting that out there beforehand. I called Charlie as a terrible fit that made next to no sense in advance. Not trying to toot my own horn so much as just put out there that not every kid that ends up in Lawrence is a great fit for Bill.
On the other side of the coin, I mentioned when he committed that if they had a Bill Self basketball player factory, Marcus would have come from it.
Woodrow said:
Not sure if this was posted, but Bryce Thompson is taking a unofficial visit to UNC this week I believe and then is supposed to come to Lawrence. Wouldn't be surprised if it isn't us and UNC fighting for him until the end.
Definitely feels that way. Let's go two in a row beating UNC for recruits!

This is the year.
@BeddieKU23 Nix's recruitment is "wide open" currently.
@approxinfinity Anyone that is saying to play Braun over Garrett...I just can't take their basketball takes seriously.
On Dave: he might end up being the best 5 on the roster. Will be interesting to see how he does as a JR/SR.
Marco said:
Let me say it, redshirt Mitch and Garrett. Oh no, Garrett might transfer! Go ahead.... Really, what does he offer? Not squat. Play McBride and Braun.
KU casts a wide net and this kid hasn't been offered yet. I doubt he would be a take over the guard targets I have mentioned previously.
Marcus might be playing angry this year. :eyes:
@KUSTEVE This kid...he's a keeper.
@KirkIsMyHinrich Hadn't seen that. Thanks!
Oh my, Bill is gushing about Dave.

@FarmerJayhawk If Mitch takes the RS, that does look pretty on target to me, as well.
Pretty sure he will. I mentioned it earlier and Farmer did as well that he might as well get his 5th year of school paid for.
We need to remember that he was going to RS last year when the staff thought they would have Doke and Silvio all year.

@KUSTEVE Replacing Q and Dedric with a broom and a bag of rocks would be an improvement athletically to be fair.
For those w/o a sub I think the main take-away is that Bill views Ochai as our 2nd best perimeter player, right there just behind Dotson.
Won by 3 strokes over Koepka. Rose fell apart.
