Partly because they are both excellent teams. The elite 8 has a chance to be a selection of amazing games.
Both have 1 seed talent. Moreso than us and Purdon't if I'm being honest.

I actually don't mind our region. I think it's one of the easier ones. Once we get past the 8/9 it falls really nicely for us. I think the South and Midwest are harder.
Digging into our 8/9 possibilities and it isn't the worst.

Bottom line: You play the game in front of you, one at a time. We only play 4 teams out of the 15 others in our bracket, and only 1 from the other half. Might win out, might not! Enjoy it!!!

Pastries for thought: Our worst two games of the season by far came in this scenario. Depth is less important in the tournament unless we run into foul trouble.
Agree with this post in general. Think we can lose any game after the first one (which hell the first one is technically possible but I don't see it happening).
We can beat a 16 seed without him, depends on how he is feeling imo.

Anyone know how the preseason polls correlate to eventual champions? Those polls are largely based on talent evaluation, and UNC certainly blew that one.
It almost always comes from the top 11 of the preseason poll as well. I actually saw a stat regarding top 12 teams from the early week polls and thought that's what was being cited here. :grinning_face_with_sweat:
My theory is our bench just sucks this year because the staff missed on some evals/guys didn't develop. It happens.

Yeah we like to talk about polls being worthless but it is a solid indicator of talent.
Besides the lack of Self and Kevin what this game and a few others this year have shown me is Self needs to overhaul the roster a bit this offseason. I believe he will fwiw. Pissed Bill will be back.
