I don't think the committee would want to rematch us against a team we already played non-con. Plus yeah they aren't a 15 or 16 seed.
@BeddieKU23 If ever there was a year for something like this to happen, 2019 is pretty loaded with good options for KU at the 3/4.
@JayHawkFanToo Pretty much. He never did all that much of note at VCU otherwise. Heck that team barely made the tournament.
@justanotherfan Exactly.

Grimes 2nd team.
Langford 1st team.

That's some real damn talk right there.
@JayHawkFanToo I was being sarcastic because the view on this board is that he wouldn't pan out. I know you, Beddie and myself all said it.

If you read that whole long article, it sounds like the NBA will set up an alternative to college- not just the top few players. It sounds like they're going to try to kill off the college game.
That is their goal.

247 has the Big 12 getting 16 4 star or higher players next year
Does this not count De Sousa?
Also I expect Agbaji to bump up.
@BeddieKU23 Gonzaga and St Marys need to move up in basketball. Do they even field football teams? So that's a consideration for w/e conference they want to join.
@dylans Not to mention a McDAA in his 4th year removed from HS. The more I watch Dedric the more excited I get. He's got a lot of old man game. Floaters, fade aways etc... If he were more athletic he'd already be in the NBA.
@KUSTEVE 97 is why I hate Arizona so much.
@BeddieKU23 Tyler Harris's saga has been very odd. I've been loosely following him because I figured he would end up at Iowa State but that so far hasn't materialized.
@BeddieKU23 Weird, everyone thought Shaka would be so successful...
Update: TTU and Baylor each added a player.
@JayHawkFanToo WSU is very good. The segment of the KU fanbase that belittles them is odd to me. I don't like MARSHAAAAA but they will field a competitive team as long as he is there.

@BShark What about Shak Morris? Geez man...I'm looking at that 280 lb behemoth, and wondering why he isn't playing for us this year.
Sub 300 ranked player and not local. I doubt KU even sniffed around.
He should have went to a lower level conference imo.

Underwood should’ve stayed at OSU. Oh well.
+1 Illinois is a trap. Delusional fan base.
Frank and Graham will be in the rafters

@BeddieKU23 Garrett can also dribble and pass the ball. It's remarkable how badly Vick has regressed.
@BeddieKU23 It's one year even ILL isn't that crazy.
Looks like Marquette and Georgetown got involved too. I'd assume UNC can win out if they want him.
@BeddieKU23 I would love to see the minutes of Vick and Garrett flip flop. Maybe Self is saving it for the NCAAT....
Mark Smith will transfer from Illinois. I remember being intrigued by him out of hs (power guard) but he had a putrid year.
Correct
Into the NCAAT officially today. Won the MVC tournament.

@jayballer73 I chuckled a bit when they lost, not because I dislike the school or the program. I just hate fair weather fans, I’m a KU football fan. I’ve taken my lumps forsure but WSU fans didn’t exist about 6 years ago. I went to a game at Koch when Turg was early in his career and I bet the place didn’t have 1500 people in it. My honest opinion is that KU wants no part of Cincy or WSU this season. But I think WSU is headed for some serious rebuilding after this season especially if Shamet goes pro.
Jayballer is a Green Bay/Yankees fan. :joy:
I'm with you all around on this post except the end. People keep thinking they will trail off but WSU imo stays relevant as long as Marsha is there. Other players will step up. However if EVER there was a year, if Shamet leaves they would be losing 7 rotation players. They have 10 guys that play double digit minutes. Even next year with our depth I bet Self doesn't do that. Self tends to play his best players the most minutes.
@jayballer73 Heh, I enjoyed it too. Both of those teams a TOUGH though. I mean damn. Mean defense, I'd love to see KU get back to that. Got the horses to next year.
Multi-purposing this thread.
I wish KU had taken a more serious look at Jaren Jackson JR. He's basically a better version of BP. It goes back to putting all the eggs in the Ayton basket since Jackson's recruitment accelerated early.
Nojel Eastern is a kid that wanted a KU offer, so I'll always keep an eye on his career at Purdue.
@mayjay I saw couple of his recent routines and they just weren't funny.
@Buster-1926 I was confused when CF transferred to WSU. I get leaving KU because minutes but WSU was a very poor choice if he wanted to get a bunch of minutes. Also going to one of the coaches that is even MORE of a hardass than Self.
@JayHawkFanToo Agree.
George Carlin will always be one of my favorites, though I'm sure he ruffles some feathers.
I get KU overlooking him even though it was a mistake, I really do. But how on earth did KSU not go after him hard?
@JayHawkFanToo He's jumped the damn shark.
@jayballer73 Top 20 team in the country by any measure St Marys. Unreal that they won't be a 4/5 seed.
@Kcmatt7 I think there was a bit of addition by subtraction with Julian.
@Crimsonorblue22 Svi wasn't supposed to be Svi. I remember the hype around him was 2 years. It's hard to say how things will shake out. Agbaji and McCormack look like 4 year players to me though. I like the kids we have on the team, it was just a bad effort yesterday for whatever reason.
@jayballer73 Too bad TCU and TTU accumulated difficult injuries. I think both were at least S16 teams when healthy.
@jayballer73 It's the worst I can remember in the Self era.
So considering how easy it is for opponents to generate good offense vs this KU team I really don't expect much in the NCAAT.

@JayHawkFanToo Serious question, does the Big 12 have a team consistently better than Xavier? I don’t think so. Always wins 20, has made the NCAA tourney all but two seasons since 2004, has 7 Sweet 16s since 2004, and has more Elite Eight appearances (3) than any Big 12 team not named Kansas during the Bill Self era (since 2004).
Besides Kansas no. Xavier is a basketball school.
I think we see multiple teams with losing records in the B12 make the tournament which is kind of dumb.
Spring training numbers are about as valuable as pro bowl numbers.
@kjayhawks I agree. The committee has a history of this kind of stupidity.
Kcmatt7 said:
@BShark most teams with their resume would be bubble teams.
I definitely don’t see them making it out of the first weekend.
You know they will be in though because UK. To be completely fair I think we'd get that same benefit from the committee. Not that we've needed it under Self.

I still believe the 12' title run ranks as his best coaching. This year is close right now though
Yeah Teahan was the 4th guard on that team which is nuts. That team could have just as easily lost any of those games though. Credit to Self and the team but that run was pretty lucky.
