Vermont is a good team. The UVU game otoh was shocking.
@BeddieKU23 No problem. Can't imagine he'd be down there today, before a huge game tomorrow night, if he doesn't know Grimes is a Hawk but we will see.
“He’s the one that stirs their coffee.” Cal says of Kansas’ Devonte’ Graham.
Of Bill Self and Kansas: “They’ve beaten us pretty good the last couple, so we’ll see.”
@BeddieKU23 Apparently Self is chilling in Houston right now.

What's surprising is that Shaka is in the final 2. That really just blows my mind having paid attention to this recruitment.
They are already over the scholarship limit to begin with even with Jones & Bamba not returning next season. Someone else is already being pushed out just to make room for Hepa.
Hopefully he gets it done by Wednesday
Cal was smart enough to move on when he realized where Grimes is headed. Marquette coaches too.
Like you said Texas is recruiting with house money here. I would assume currently they are forcing out a forward.
From Bossi
Kentucky and Marquette are his other finalists but, most likely Grimes is going to end up picking between the Jayhawks and Longhorns. No actual date to commit has been set, but it would be a surprise if he makes it out of the early signing period and if we had to place a bet on where he ends up, we still believe Kansas is in a good spot.

Evan Daniels is saying it’s “up in the air” between Texas and KU. He’s half right. UT finished 2nd.
I really don't understand what's been so hard to understand in this recruitment. Playa is usually pretty good with his game but this one he is way off
He just doesn't know yet. Hasn't put in a CB pick.
He keeps tweeting it and deleting it. Lol.
Grimes just tweeted "stay tuned".

Surprisingly this cycle he's been tolerable
He's been played on a few recruitments but the only thing that really ticked me off was the Trae Young thing...
Hopefully he never does something like that again.
Beyond the Streak by Jason King.
 Vick in the mid-post got Tenn St out of their zone pretty quick. UK's zone looked uninspired, UVU just isn't good.
Herro announcing Tuesday. Kentucky obviously.

I think Kentucky if they struggle will play zone as that was talked about in their game today. Calipari could use that change of defense to force our team into outside shots and slow the pace of the game down. This is a key thing to watch
Bill Self will salivate when he sees a zone.
Well Matt Scott just came out swinging in his own way. Still feel great about this one.
They won against Vermont by 4 today.

@REHawk I know I'll get booed for this, but I have always thought Devonte was a better point guard than Frank. I didn't say better scorer ...I didn't say better offense creator, or better shooter. But, as a point guard, my money is on Devonte. Before the senior deferment, Devonte was every bit as good as Frank, if not better, imo. I think Devonte is a better passer, and a better distributor as a point guard. He will not match Frank's scoring numbers, but he will blow him away on assists, which, imo, is more important as a point guard.
Eh, you could argue Devonte better shooter. Now, that's different from being an EFFECTIVE shooter. A lot of Frank's looks (and this is by good offensive design) were well open due to screening and the opposition being afraid of him simply taking it to the rim if they went harder around the screen. It was a lose/lose proposition for opposing teams guarding Frank, and a big part of what made him so great.
@Bwag Just another yahoo that runs a random site. He made a cb pick for Grimes to Texas so I've been having some fun.
According to Dain Ervin KU will never land anyone.
Ok I'll stop now.
Dain Ervin picked Arizona for Mitch Lightfoot. Arizona for Josh Jackson. FSU for Doke. :coffee:
Dain Ervin put in a Maryland pick for Devon Dotson before changing it back. He tries to be contrarian to get big points if it works out that way.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Truth. Total yards are actually close.
sigh
Kittens lose to WVU, making their bowl eligibility very much in doubt with two tough games upcoming.
Note: All fiction, no malice.
One comp I saw for McCormack was "Landen Lucas on steroids". Meant as a compliment because he is so smart, and has much more athleticism and potential.
Also McCormack signed his NLI in case anyone didn't see the pic!

@HawkChamp they don't have any 🦊🦊 this year!
Their PG play is definitely not up to their normal, spoiled OAD legit NBA stud standard.
“Just their guards and the way coach Self uses their guards,” Langford, a 6-5 guard from New Albany, Indiana, said of KU on Zagsblog.com. “I feel like I also fit well in their system and the way he gets his guards ready for the NBA.”
“He can make plays for others but he also has plenty of explosiveness that he can make plays for himself,” Self said. “And even though they are different type players, in some ways he will remind people of Frank (Mason) because of his ability to get into the lane and make plays for himself and make plays for others.”
Dotson averaged 24.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists last season at Providence Day School. KU assistant coach Norm Roberts was his primary recruiter.
Self lauded Dotson’s size while also reiterating that he projected as “one of the most explosive guards we’ve had since I have been here at Kansas.”
@BeddieKU23 Once UK gets Herro too and Grimes commits to KU next week they will spin it that Cal no longer wanted him. Just wait for it...
Bill Self on Devon Dotson:
"We recruited three or four lead guards in the country this past year knowing all the perimeter players that we'll be losing," Self said. "We felt like Devon had the highest ceiling of the guys that we were recruiting. # kubball
Maryland board is probably top lul right now.
Keldon to UK as expected.

A lot of folks on rupp rafters are in meltdown mode already.
I watched portions of their game and read what happened and it sounds like they scored a lot in transition. Just like last year, we have to keep them in the half court.
Yeah when they switched to a zone UVU had no idea what to do. So they turned it over a bunch and UK got a bunch of transition dunks.
HawkChamp said:
@KUSTEVE yep. I don't think there is a game where we won't be favored.
Pretty much. At least, games on the schedule now. There are definitely games in the tournament where the other team would and should be favoured. IE Duke, WSU, Zona, MSU. KU has a real chance to beat anyone this year though including those teams.
@SkinnyKansasDude They definitely told McCormack that Billy is OAD. It's easier to convince Grimes that Newman and Vick are gone. Really looks like Langford wants to be more sure.
Even the Maryland donks switched their CB picks for Keldon Johnson to UK. Looks like they will get Herro and KJ.
@HawkChamp He will have a fair chance but keep in mind the five guards KU is already rolling out there are very good.
Crimsonorblue22 said:
Vick looks really good! NBA scouts were bragging on him at that philly camp.
He is probably the best long term NBA player on the current KU team. Really good elevation on his shot. Can shoot and has tools to defend.
SkinnyKansasDude said:
@BShark BINGO
I think it’s evident Kansas is his first choice and Indiana is second. With a return by Vick and a dog shit season by Indiana I don’t think it’s out of the question he signs with Vandy.
I could see it. If they add Shittu, Garland and Romeo, well shoot, UK better watch out even.
Jayballer gets a little too serious sometimes. I thought that post was downright hilarious @Crimsonorblue22

I must say that Devon's whole family looks great in Jayhawk attire!
Kid is all about the history and the culture. :100:
I'd bet on small ball starting line-ups all year.
@HawkChamp Relaying what I've heard. Don't be surprised if he does not crack the rotation. The coaching staff is not exactly enamored.
If he wasn't waiting to see how things shake out with KU's roster, why not sign with Indiana early?
@Crimsonorblue22 LOL.
This might be part of the reason Malik didn't start last night. Stiffer punishment for Billy that's for sure.

@BShark Nope not at all. - -just sit back and watch. - -They knocked it out of the park on his in home visit, - -playing close to him is also playing a role - -even when Louisville was the one lot closer for him.
Listen to what I tell ya - -was right on McCormack when some wondering where I was coming from. - - -Had my boy Devon from the word go - even though was wondering more at the last. - -Romeo not landing here as much as I'd like - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
He would have already announced for Louisville if not for the scandal.
Also...I was beating the McCormack drum as loud as anyone. I can't remember who but someone else was citing the crystal ball as a reason KU wasn't really in it lol. I know it wasn't you though bud.
