I tend to be on the @JayHawkFanToo side. I don't think he is great. I want Texas to be good, to rise up at a competent rival to KU. Closest thing right now is Iowa State I guess. We are about to find out though as he is recruiting quite well especially last year. He got a steal in Jacob Young, legit NBA talent in Jones and Allen and a nice multiyear center in James Banks.

Very good points. Defense also feels problematic. Still just the first exhibition but the early schedule does this team no favours as they learn to play together.

He is not an elite athlete by any means and would absolutely struggled to guard college wings. The problem is UK is extremely thin in the back court and as you already mentioned their shooting is suspect. Willis is the only good shooter on the entire team. Monk is streaky and the rest are below average or Briscoe. It's certainly a conundrum for Cal. That said they should still win 30+ games so it's all relative.
UK is likely to be overrated for as long as the squid is coaching there.

This UK team is going to have to get it done defensively, cause they are gonna struggle to score.
I'll be worried if I look at the roster going into next season and it doesn't look competitive. Pretty tuckish take but Self hasn't really had a bad team yet.

Probably true, but it's still an absurd schedule even for KSU. Reeks of Weber trying to save his job.
He has a Zona offer as well. Pretty athletic. 247 just got his 2017 profile up today due to the recent KU, Zona and Oregon offers.
