When you play that lineup that's what you get
Mbiya looks 18 feet tall
Nice job white
Commendable 15 minutes. Now we see if they have fight or quit in them
Fouls racking up they are getting tired
Yikes Council. Not good
Like clock work flory in foul trouble
Love that. Heck of a play by dawson
Criminal that elmarko stops driving for a bad mid range every time.
Tre White has stepped up so far
So far so good
Yeah Carr has insane bounce to him, sometimes it doesn't even look real
Yikes, the defense is supposed to carry them.. ha
We can hope Flory would try and keep himself on the floor but it's been an issue in every game pretty much so far. The key is the first half with him
Not tonight he was already ruled out as expected. I tried lol
Yeah Boozer so far is looking like an exceptional leader for a freshman. Not missing a beat from last years freshman leader.
Based on his recent usage it would seem Mbiya is an emergency use only. I expect foul trouble and his size to matchup as potentially using him for his 5 fouls. It is what it is there.
They are young just like we are. They have 5 stars as young's though and a few returning 5 star guys that are now much improved.
Size wise they don't have anyone under 6'4.
I can't lie this is probably the least excited I've been for a Duke Matchup in my life.
No Darryn (unless some hamstring miracle happens). That means we are short our best player and best offensive weapon. Why does it matter? Well, for one, the supporting cast looks offensively challenged without him. Currently Kenpom/Torvik have this as somewhere near #50th best offense. If that trend continues this will mark the 3rd consecutive season finishing outside the Top 50 on offense which is very alarming. Scoring the ball has been the main issue in my eyes the past few seasons and so far it doesn't look like we'll break that trend with or without Peterson.
Duke is rated #2 on both sites mentioned above and Top 10 in both Offense/Defense. Vegas has Duke as a 10pt favorite (maybe more by tip) and that kind of feels low considering KU is down a 20+ pt scorer and its most important player. This a bad matchup for KU in just about every way possible. Boozer & Ngongba will really test the front court in similar ways UNC did, maybe more. We have undersized Tre White and a freshman Tiller to guard Boozer and that shouldn't excite anyone.
It is an opportunity for the team to step up on a neutral court with all the eyes on them and being the underdog. KU has a 5-game win streak in this classic (9-5 overall record) so Self tends to have a prepared bunch so we'll see if they can hang tonight. It seems unlikely but all we can do is hope for the team to come together and prove a point.
He's close to the worst guard that's played here. Stats would agree too. Needs to go down a level
Bidunga really stepped up and saved this game on both ends. Great energy and confidence finishing plays
Council and Elmarko are complete non shooters. Hard to believe
Tre White with a good game
Nice one from Dawson. Need that from him
Council sure likes to hear the ball pound. Very disappointing from him today
Freshman playing like Freshman
Vintage KU
He has been impressive on defense as well. He can guard all 5 positions
Jeesh Flory
Wow that was nice
Flory with a few good baskets
Look like a bubble team at best
Same Princeton team that was blown out by Akron
Maybe that will wake them up
Defenses already playing us the same as always. Dont have to guard the point guard cause he cant shoot and doesn't have vision
Council is awful
We all should be concerned that the "star player" of the team making millions has only played 1 full game out of 5 (soon to be 6).
There's a lot more to say but frankly it's not worth my time. I'll root for the players that actually play. Hopefully he will be back soon.
All we can do is hope for improvement and for the best. An opportunity for them to rise to the occasion against a good team. I will be pleasantly surprised if it's a close game given what I've seen of both. If DP Doesn't play or is limited once again it's going to be rough for us fans..
Accurate recap
If he doesn't play, it likely won't be a competitive game.
Self said after the game Peterson's hamstring was tight after practice yesterday morning and they decided not to chance it for whatever that's worth!
Tiller is exciting
Nice plays by Council. He has to play aggressive all the time. Good things happen
That is true, forgot about that
I mean they are playing the 260th ranked team at home so they should win with or without
Doubt we will know until tip with how they choosing to disclose injury info with him.
What a mess
Mbiya is so big. Good touch at the free throw line which is surprising. He needs to play. That size is worth giving opportunity
Gee is better then Elmarko so why not play him
The drive to the hoop is open all night with how they are hedging screens. Pound it
Good thing self put the kid in foul trouble back out there to foul again
Dont think it matters Tiller is gonna play more minutes then Flory anyway because he cannot stop fouling
