Bit from Bossi on Thompson, “ Thompson is planning to be at Kansas this weekend and the Jayhawks had looked to be emerging as a pretty clear leader. However, he'll have to ask some tough questions about the Jayhawks' status with the NCAA. If not Kansas, his in-state finalists could be in best position to capitalize.“
Thanks for sharing. Self looks like he has a chance to hold the edge or lose it here. Probably the only recruit that matters this weekend in the big picture dont you think?
I’d add KK Robinson to that list as far as 2020 guys. I’m still hanging onto some hope of Todd but probably just a vice at this point.
Totally forgot about him. Guess I'm just low on hope in this class given what's happened. Either kid would be great to have. Some are concerned how Bryce will translate to College. KK seems like a really nice grab for running point and being a solid defender off the bat. Hopefully self can work some magic

http://www2.kusports.com/weblogs/tale-tait/2019/oct/1/marcus-garrett-ready-to-handle-backup-po/ ↗
“He wasn’t a point anyway,” Self said of McBride. “Marcus was probably going to be our backup point regardless.”
Primarily a point guard throughout his high school days, Garrett said last week that he actually missed playing the position since coming to Kansas.
“That's just what I played for 18 years of my life,” he said.
This is a big question going into the season. Who would back up Dotson in the case of foul trouble and natural rotation minutes during a game. Regardless Dotson was probably going to play between 33-35+ minutes a night.
For example this could be the Starting 5 in Game 1:
PG Dotson
G Garrett
G Agbaji
F De Sousa
C Azubuike
Probably the best 5 Self "Trusts" but not the best offensive lineup.
Self could use Garrett/Moss & Agbaji Interchangeably at the 2 guard spots to provide different advantages on offense. Garrett gives you more of that 2nd ballhandler Self likes to have on the court, + defender and + teammate but will undoubtedly make defenses sag off him due to his limitations as a shooter.
Moss comes in as a known shooter and shot creator but has lacked consistency in 3 years playing for Iowa. Maybe a fresh start for a HOF coach is all he needs. That's certainly a big hope for this squad.
Early I think Marcus starts, he's a guy Self loves and he's a solid player besides the shooting woes. As Moss gains chemistry and experience playing with this group his shooting may become something KU can't keep off the court. If Dotson & Agbaji do not shoot the 3 at a consistent rate Self really will have no choice but to play Moss to space the floor.
It was interesting hearing Self's thoughts that McBride wasn't being looked at as the potential backup, Marcus was in line for those duties anyway. Any thoughts???
Jump shot looks pretty decent and he knows what to do with the ball.
Never hurts to have kids in the building regardless of interest
I saw Florida was jumping on this as well @drgnslayr

@jayballer73 I just read an article off of Rivals, and Cory Evans still thinks he will land at Texas Tech (which he'll visit this weekend). I remember last year though, Mr. Corey Evans was wrong on almost everything pertaining to KU (Hurt, Stanley, Precious, and I want to say one more).
Good Point. Corey swings and misses a ton in regards to KU recruiting
Have to love his social media game
I cant wait for the season to start. Anyone else excited??
Adam Miller released his final 6.
KU on the list probably out of respect for Howard.. Can't think of any other reason. @wissox is that right?
Should be Illinois bound
Jeff Long already on the defense.
"I can really kind of repeat what we said in our statement," Long began on the show. "You know, we simply disagree with the facts as the NCAA believes them to be. We see the facts that they have. We arrive at a very different conclusion then they do. We support coach [Bill] Self. We believe in the way he runs our program and the way our coaches conduct our program. So we now have our 90 days to provide a response to each one of those seven allegations. We are very well prepared to do that."
"We will provide a very substantial response to those allegations, and I do think in the end that we will be successful in defending ourselves, defending our reputation and defending our actions," Long said. "So our fans will have to be patient with us because we're going to be in this period of time when we can't talk about details. Bill Self is going to be asked at every press conference he's at. Bill Self won't be able to comment on those things. We've got to let the process play its way out. We've said what we can say and the NCAA actually has a rule against us speaking out publicly so if we're not careful we could have another violation and we're not going to do that. So be patient."
"During this time, you know, people will be saying a lot of things about Kansas, but I hope our Kansas fans know we run our program with honesty and integrity and each and every one of you can be proud with how we conduct our program, the student athletes in our program," Long said. "I assure you that if we've made mistakes, we'll correct them and move on. But I guarantee you we're running our program the right way."

I'd take Muscadin in a second. Athletic.
Definitely a project but some skills to work with. The new age big man that can stretch it.
Kegler has had several issues since getting to College. No surprise to anyone, probably even to Baylor fans
If we land a recruit in this crapola that's like winning the lottery

Slater and Meyer both picked gethro for KU today
Hmm sounds like the word is out
Loved the hype video
Not a bad thing to have to really dig down and evaluate talent. This latest kid is a good example and he comes from a high level juco program
Oh wow sign him up now. He is well worth a scholarship
Read that from an article so I assume it is true
He is so out of touch with reality he is the perfect sham for the job for them
The committee that decided Georgia Techs fate is different then the committee set to deal with the fbi trial fiasco.
Also reading this it seems like people lied, and tried to get others to lie to cover what happened.
Meanwhile Wendell Carter has now been linked to 2 different booster agent deals now. Still crickets for Duke playing a player that was receiving impermissible benefits
The good ol boys club will never stop to amaze

What are the odds of SDS returning his senior year? As you can tell from my signature, I’m wishing.
Or Ochai?
Ochai should be back unless he blows up
SDS is a wildcard
We have a Top 10 PG in the country
We have a Top 10 Big Man in the country (when healthy)
We can go 8 deep before playing a freshman. Duke, UNC, UK can't say that.
Our PG depth is non-existent after McBride quit. Dotson either plays all 40 or Marcus will have to transition some time there.
Signing Moss has become bigger then I expected. He's going to play 20-30 minutes a night.
Agbaji seems like the key player in the starting lineup. If he's made the next leap (and healthy) look out.
Very intrigued to see which freshman gets rotation minutes. I think Braun may be the most prepared to give us some backcourt minutes.
This is a big team, has to be one of the biggest in Self's tenure.
Praying the Doke/Silvio duo becomes the bash brothers!
Ultimately I think how far this team goes depends on the chemistry developed and the ability for these young men to overcome the outside distractions that will be there every step of the way.
Is it too much to ask for no major injuries? This would be a great time for the injury bug to go somewhere else.
Definitely going to enjoy this season because it seems inevitable change is coming.

@BeddieKU23 I don't see how Bill Self can go on the recruiting trail until the NCAA makes a ruling. Too many uncertainties. Hopefully, this doesn't become a prolonged fight in the courts.
I think he will continue to recruit as normal. He may go into situations knowing the result but I think you have to keep on it, especially with the future classes. Most programs have recovered quickly from the pits. Louisville and UNC are prime examples of that and their situations were a lot worse then this.
It will be interesting to see which route KU goes. How far does KU want to dig its feet into the sand and fight? To fight the booster designation placed on Gassnola it may require going to court.
Self will need legal counsel to fight the allegations against him separately since the penalties can result in a show-cause or termination.
What if I told you Kessler was the 2nd 5 star big man they have gotten this class. Nothing to see. Will shortly add their 3rd 5 star in Caleb Love (a once KU target)

Riley Gates, a KSU insider, put his CB for Gethro to KU today.
Edit: What about Karim Mane?
Mane is not expected to go to College
How Fortuitus for Arizona, LSU, Louisville among others. Carry on.
Agreed, they will come. Was more or less thinking nothing until the spring though and with Gethro 3 visits in already I'd imagine he's signing this fall. A lot of uncertainty for kids to sign into at the moment.
We could do a lot worse. Not going to complain since we know we'll need bodies for whatever exodus happens after the season. I'm not confident despite his positive remarks we land him but who knows. This cycle has lost my interest
He did. Here a few snips. Despite the positive things I do not expect he signs here
He met the players and learned about their personalities, and he even got a little starstruck when hanging around KU basketball's coach.
“I was sitting with him and I was like, ‘Man, I’m really sitting with Bill Self, a Hall of Fame coach,’” “That’s something huge for me.”
They really know my game. They really know my strengths. That’s something that means a lot to me that they’ve been watching me.”
Is that all?
“They have pretty much everything that I’ve been looking for in a college,” Muscadin said of KU. “That’s pretty incredible. That’s something that means a lot for me
I don't think Self loses his job but its too early to say its not a possibility either. I believe he has the support of the AD however what about the support (as @HighEliteMajor) mentions from the Chancellor & Board of Regents. It's too early to tell what position they may fall on and what interests they may have to protect for the greater good of the program when this is all over.
There was a Giant Red Flag hanging over Billy Preston's head for most of his High School career and they still signed him. Gassnola was a known fraud and a high liability to have around the program. These are decisions that have come back to bite them now.
Despite everything going on Gethro Muscadin took his visit to KU over the weekend.
I'm sure others think he could lose his job. It's not out of the realm of possibility if the allegations stick, they did attack Self in the NOA with everything they had.
I think he's gasping with the Long thing but I also think he is just generally connecting dots on how things go when new AD's take over for coaches they didn't hire. I don't think the details fit the normal narrative that leads to coaching changes but maybe I'm just seeing things through Crimson & Blue. From everything I've heard from rumor to general impression is that Long/Self have a very good relationship and Long has been preparing for the moment to go to war for him and the program.
I guess we'll see where the AD stands through this as things develop

The sooner there is a resolution, even a poor one, the sooner things get back to normal. As long as the ncaa is investigating forget about getting anything consistent in recruiting.
Unlikely to see a quick resolution. I would expect KU takes most of the 90 days to respond then there's another waiting period for the NCAA rebuttal and next course of action. Wouldn't be surprised to see this lingering for the next year. Is that a fair assumption?
Well done, Well Done. You win the internet for today

@BeddieKU23 Of course there are going to be penalties, but it is not going to be nearly as severe as people are freaking out about. I am guessing it will be a loss in recruiting time / a reduction in scholarships for a couple years, and Self gets 5-10 game suspension. Also, they will be put on probation.
I'll let this play out but I believe the penalties could be more significant in the end. I would be surprised at minimal penalties for both the Program and Self/Townsend. T very well could lose his job
For those that want to read the NOA and haven't seen it. Here is a link. Apologies if already posted
https://publicaffairs.ku.edu/sites/publicaffairs.ku.edu/files/docs/NOA%20to%20KU.pdf ↗
I was pleased with Self's statement. And while all of it could be true it won't matter. Lawyers and evidence may reduce the penalties but there is very little chance the KU program leaves this battle without penalties.
Not playing Preston doesn't matter. Sitting De Sousa for a year doesn't matter. Preston was paid behind KU's back. De Sousa's Guardian was paid. In the NCAA's eyes that's all the smoking gun they need.
I'm hopeful that KU will fight this to the bitter end as it looks like they are prepared to do.
KU played an eligible player found ineligible after. Not that it matters one way or the other. KU would have still been charged regardless of playing said player
They didnt even show up to the court room fyi. Still a good quote
Probably just free visits. Still a destination to see

Its also a case of a kid quiting. He could have stuck it out and been developed. I guess it's a lost art now
In some articles when he committed the development of KU was mentioned. That he could be the next Mason or Graham. Maybe they were sore that KU kept recruiting and landed Harris? If that is the case...well bye...
Yeah whatever the case he quit and didnt even make the start of practice. I'm a bit pissed since I thought he would do well here but I guess investing any personal feelings into these kids today is a waste of time

What I meant is if the story is picked up by the media and kids see it, it's going to impact what the kids think about potentially coming to ku
