NLI are being eliminated • Oct 10, 2024 06:32 PM

made for some cringe worthy helicopter parent moments over the years, especially in football.

@FarmerJayhawk

Agree. There can be some positives from this all

UConn seems to have won that one. Staff seems like they are pivoting to Sylla

Safe to assume he's resetting the market

Not to be confused with NIL, the NCAA voted to eliminate the National Letter of Intent. Given where things have gone why not get rid of that too...

Sounds like a financial aid package will replace

@Kcmatt7 said in UNLV - Any Bets?:

@nuleafjhawk they may not be worse, but they may have the biggest fall YoY of any team ever.

Oh no doubt FSU is a lot worse. Mike gets an 80 mil extension and extends the entire staff with some significant raises, spends 13 mil in NIL and tanks the program to the ground, right where he got it from. Impressive stuff.

Hey! that almost hurt. We definitely are the worst this year. It's unfathomable.

The "crap on Trump" thread • Sep 13, 2024 01:28 PM

@approxinfinity

After the debate I went through several social media outlets to find that many people I assume that are voting Republican thought the debate was rigged, it was "3 vs 1", "Kamala knew the questions before hand and they were only attacking Donald". Those were some of the common things said. Saw hundreds of comments from several different articles and outlets voicing similar. I mean there is just going to be a % that no matter the outcome of a debate or anything are going to immediately discount it at all costs. Perhaps that's what some people have been conditioned to do at this point. Everything is against Donald, it's a conspiracy. I'd assume that's the message he sends out in his speeches for his followers.

Shakeel Moore with a broken foot. • Sep 10, 2024 08:59 AM

@rockchalkjayhawk

The answer is no. Injuries seem to be always apart of the equation. That makes last years roster construction even more maddening. Adjustment made this yr, hopefully at the premium positions we don't have the same guys get hurt again

Shakeel Moore with a broken foot. • Sep 09, 2024 11:09 PM

Had surgery 2 weeks ago and is in a boot.

Hopeful to be back for the start of the season

Shakeel Moore with a broken foot. • Sep 09, 2024 11:01 PM

Broke it during a pickup game. Looking like 6-8 weeks recovery or around November timeline. Could be worse. Speedy recovery..

Sorry Juan you gotta go 40 again for a while..

I'm hopeful you are right. His film is fun and reminiscent of some past guards billy Eugene has coached. We will definitely need some guards after this season and this looks like a good one to keep after. Any clue if others are a significant threat with him?

We see you. Join the fam.

Looking like one to pay attention to for visit and interest

2025 Recruiting • Aug 21, 2024 10:43 PM

@jayballer67

Had some interesting stuff to say about KU showing a lot of interest. Would imagine if he visits this fall that we might have some momentum there but just spitballing some optimism at this point

This thread is a reminder of why we need ranked choice voting in this nation for elections and to heavily modify or abolish the Electoral College to more accurately reflect how the population of states actually vote.

2025 Recruiting • Aug 14, 2024 09:08 AM

247 thinks KU is in a great spot for Peterson, as well as Sebastian Williams-Adams.

Isaiah Dennis seems to be one UNC may push on (NC native), they just offered so we will see if that one trends that way. Was hoping we would land him, very high on him. Might make sense that KU offered Tillery

@drgnslayr

Certainly, some wishful thinking there. This definitely gives us 3 options at the 1 in a pinch if Coit can learn to be trusted with the ball. Hard to imagine finding a better option this late in the game that knew there was no big role waiting or big NIL coming his way in his last year.

This addition also seems to impact Jamari as it sounds like he will be redshirting this season. When he didn't transfer out the word was, he was happy here regardless of role. They wanted to RS him last year and couldn't but now have the opportunity to do so. Redshirts these days feel like finding a dinosaur but still good to see kids sticking around to try and improve their games (Clemence, Jamari).

This kid has some maturity to him and sounds like someone eager to prove himself again at this stage. Nice! Last guy we got in August turned out to be important to the team (Furphy).

Coit understands that he's joining this roster demands him to do what's best for the team.

"With or without me this is a great team," Coit said. "The way I can help take them another level is just being another guy who can make plays, shoot and play off other good players. This is already a next-level team. So with me, I add depth, swagger-ball and hunger. If you know my story, coming from the bottom and getting it out of the mud, then you know that I bring a great mentality and I can help by being a great teammate, leader and solid person on and off the court."

Now that he's a Jayhawk, Coit has set his eye on a Big 12 title and a National Championship.

“Y'all got a kid who earned his way everywhere he went," he said when what KU fans can expect from his arrival. "I'm giving my heart to the program, town, state and the front and back of my jersey. I'm giving everything I got. I'm completely focused and locked in. I definitely can't wait."

@rockchalkjayhawk

Interesting one. I think they like Moore and he's going to be a steady option behind Harris. Since he's been here longer to develop chemistry and become accustomed to Self Ball I would expect it's Moore.

Coit will also have to adjust to playing at this level whereas Moore has plenty of experience in P4.

Glad to have both as bench options that's for sure

2025 Recruiting • Jun 26, 2024 12:32 PM

KU won't be losing many NIL battles unless a collective is going to reset the market on kids and overpay.

2025 Recruiting • Jun 25, 2024 12:48 PM

Sounds like good news could be coming on Acuff. Swain all but saying he's committed. We'll see what twists and turns are left on this one.

Also sounds like they sit in a great spot for Bryson Tiller as well who just unofficially visited. He already OV'd previously and can again this fall if need be

I don't want to see it change but this sport figures to be a shell of itself within the next 5 yrs so it's going to be a lot of disappointment anyway. Pressure to expand seems evident from schools. Money wise there seems to be little incentive. Lots of decisions keep plowing forward with little regard for what fans want

Thoughts?

Here's the skinny.

The proposals were outlined to the commissioners this week by NCAA senior vice president of basketball Dan Gavitt and NCAA vice president for women's basketball Lynn Holzman, the source said. Under the proposal, expansion of the 68-team field included both four- and eight-team models. The NCAA would keep its 64-team bracket but would add play-in games involving the Nos. 10 through 12 seeds.

More games would provide a small boost through ticket sales and merchandise, but the pool of money the NCAA uses to pay out conferences and member schools would essentially stay the same. What could change, however, is how that money would be divided up if the tournament broadens.

The earliest the NCAA tournament could expand would be the 2025-26 season, the source said. The NCAA basketball oversight committee meets next week, and the tournament selection committee has a meeting next month.

Haven't had Jasper Hill Farm is a while but a local one readily available to me that's excellent is Maple Brook Farm. They went from small time to buying a building for bigger production needs and have been cranking out quality cheese still

Vermont/Wisconsin Food Musings • Jun 13, 2024 01:59 PM

We are definitely spoiled when it comes to Maple Syrup. I know at least a dozen small producers in my town alone and that's where I go to get it when needed. I'm glad your getting a chance to try it!

Vermont/Wisconsin Food Musings • Jun 13, 2024 01:57 PM

@BShark

Sorry your state is still in the prohibition days for laws! :face_screaming_in_fear: . I think currently it's only about a dozen states allowing it so it's certainly not just a Kansas thing.

Vermont/Wisconsin Food Musings • Jun 13, 2024 08:39 AM

@FarmerJayhawk

There is just a gold rush of amazing breweries here in the Northeast and New Hampshire has a bunch of them as well. Distribution has never been better.

During covid you could get beer delivered to your home from a restaurant. Some places let you fill your growler for pennies when lockdowns occurred because they were going to lose their draft lines being in limbo for so long. Beer delivery to your home from breweries has been going on for 3 years now. Not all states participate in that practice of course as @bshark mentioned but Vermont is one that allows and I take advantage of it from time to time. I've gotten beer from Nashville, Oregon and Boston delivered. Wild times

Vermont/Wisconsin Food Musings • Jun 13, 2024 12:53 AM

@BShark

Awesome to hear. If you're into Beer, that's another highly respected industry and certain brewers deliver to certain states. Wild times

@approxinfinity

Seems like he might have a better support system in place then those guys. Would be nice to see one of these stick around 1+ yr

Moore is a flat out upgrade to Elmarko but we would have been better with both. Elmarko's upside was going to be a tantalizing part of this season but now Self has a grizzled vet from the SEC who offers more stability in his role on both ends. Moore can shoot and score at the rim and his defense will help a team that has plenty of questions on that end. It sounds like Moore was coming anyway before the injury so this definitely hits Self hard in him wanting 8 starters. Unless they kick the penalty to next yr he's unlikely to get everything perfect. He can make do with this roster though and has no excuse

@BShark said in Keeping track of the ever changing 24-25 roster:

He signed with Alabama. His handlers wanted him elsewhere

Furphy • Jun 03, 2024 03:56 PM

@wissox

I'm hopeful Storr takes feedback he's gotten from the draft process and KU coaches and figures out how to become a more complete player. If he takes his game to the next level, we will all be very happy.

It's going to be interesting seeing which guys solidify their roles. Who's the 6th man, will EJ take a leap, can Flory/Zach give us 10 minutes a game backing up Hunter. Will Passmore factor in the wing rotation. On Paper our depth should be really good. I have a lot more optimism overall with this year's roster already.

Furphy • Jun 03, 2024 01:03 PM

@wissox

The depth should improve. One of your 3 transfers is likely your 6th man, Jackson is in year 2. Clemence off a red shirt with 3 years in the system is a wild card. Bidunga is an exciting big man with skills that Hunter doesn't have so I see that as a good 1-2 combo there. Passmore has a lot of tools we covet at the wing. The athleticism should be improved top to bottom. I would like to see another guard added just for insurance and thinking ahead to life after Harris.

I do think our depth is a bit of an unknown still. Potentially having a starter level guy as your 6th man will be different than last year and that's huge. I really do believe with the way the game is changing you need to invest in your depth and have 8-9 guys you can depend on every night. We didn't even have 6 last year and guys were completely worn down in March. That part is on the coaches to improve. Hopefully the roster additions did enough to fix it

2024 Portal Madness Thread • May 31, 2024 10:31 AM

I don't know if we can get another impact player in the rotation but there's no need to leave an open scholly. You get a body because there's multiple guys redshirting this year. Injuries will happen. Either get to 12 and take the last scholly to dead the NCAA penalties or load up and kick the can to next year. I'd like to see us hit the international market for someone. Use the momentum of Furphy getting drafted.

Furphy • May 30, 2024 09:40 AM

Good year to bet on yourself. Good luck Johnny at the next level. Selfishly as a KU fan, this sucks

Dawg Days… • May 20, 2024 07:10 PM

West Virginia has Small on campus to try and seal this up, if not could appear at KU tomm. Will see but every time a visit seems to be coming with this kid he dodges and ends up somewhere else so take it seriously if he actually shows up
