Agree he has physical limitations but I was hoping during the year off the staff worked on technique and ways to make him average defensively. When his shot is on that's a great weapon to have for this offense and the value he can provide stretching the defense is something we need to see more often. Hoping this is the first of many games he has like this
He did have a few good defensive moments. I have no expectation Charlie becomes a good defender until his technique changes. But when he makes shots like he did last night that alone evens out anything else.
Moore is by far the worst perimeter defender Self has ever had. But if he can make shots like he did last night on a somewhat consistent basis he is really needed in this offense.
I think this team needed this type of win tonight. It wasn't pretty but we saw some good individual performances from guys who really hadn't impacted the games leading in. This gives me confidence we can go on the road and get some Arizona St revenge.
Moore finally made shots and had some good energy besides some horrible D. Big Dave looked a lot more comfortable later in the 2nd half. Love his effort and motor. If they can get him under control as the season goes by then he starts putting himself on the map for minutes. I think Self has to find a way to play him because he rebounds and runs the floor as good as any big we have.
Agree, great bunch Buffalo has this year. I think they beat Marquette as well
Closing out strong. Confidence is building
Dave should play the rest of the half
Break out game for charlie
4 3s for moore. Big shots
Ok Charlie is on tonight. Good to see
Man. 2 great 3pointers followed by that.. wow
Well it could be worse. We have the lead at half which has been rare
Dave has to learn what a good shot is. Left hand hooks half looking at the hoop dont cut it

We will look a lot better once De Sousa is eligible next week.
Lol. Dont quit your day job on that
Thank you, watch his defense. For a small guy has the worst center of gravity I've seen
Pathetic call. Dont understand these refs
Might be the worst call ever
2nd half team right?
Improvement for mitch this yr, effort on boards
Mitch. Nice play
Man it's hard to watch this. But I will
Again who can actually shoot on this team. I'll wait
Can anyone shoot on this team?
When chuck does something positive let me know

Holy slopfest. Need to slow the F down!
They got up 9 and said holy crap we haven't been up that much since exhibitions
Slops
Great start. South Dakota looks overmatched
Wow devon
Great d
You can see the fire in Grimes eyes
Rick flair style!
Woooo
Nice, that could be a great game to attend.
Which game do you think he makes it in for? Texas Tech Feb 2nd or West Virginia on the 16th if he follows up on visiting in February
I'm sure farmer prolly thinks KU still sits well with him but I dont see it
Jaemyn Brakefield is still being talked about as a possible reclass to the 19 class. KU definitely is involved but I wouldn't be surprised if others did as well if that talk continues to heat up.
Yeah I think Self should continue to start Grimes as well at least through these last few non-conference games. If he hasn't made strides by the time Doke returns then I see the value in sticking with Garrett. At that point your choosing which guys can win you games, especially in conference.
Not much has gone right for him though. The refs have it out for him on his drives and he's made some other poor decisions and because the games have been close Self goes with whoever isn't making mistakes.
Oh and for those that care. Matthew Hurt took his 2nd official visit over the weekend to UNC as they beat Gonzaga. I'm sure that game had some impact on his recruitment to date. KU is supposed to get a visit in February but nothing has been set in stone either.
Kofi Cockburn narrowed his list to 5 and KU was among them. Working on setting up visits to KU, Uconn, Pitt & St Johns. Illinois is up first for him.
I think Kofi is window dressing KU on his list and not a serious threat to leave the North East. He really isn't the type of big KU needs in this cycle either
Yeah on paper Nevada looks like they could be undefeated through conference play but History says they slip up somewhere and having seen a few of their most recent games I'm not about to call them dominate. The MWC is definitely down this year which helps their case.
Houston is a bit underrated I think, great depth, good defense and they have excellent guard play which is going to help them out in the AAC. The AAC is also down. I think Feb 7th against a good defensive UCF team on the road could be where they slip up first. Sampson has a good squad again.
Both teams could run the table although I'd expect both lose along the way.
I think Nevada will drop a game before Houston. Nevada nearly lost to South Dakota St in a game Daum had probably his worst game of his career so Nevada was lucky to escape that one. Also I saw a stat that its been a very long time since a Mountain West team lost fewer then 2 conference games. Will be interesting to see if Nevada will have the motivation in conference play as they have put themselves on the map for an at-large bid.
St Johns has talent, at least 2 NBA talents. But to this point we know nothing about them. Immediate schedule doesn't provide any answers either
He's improved his form at the FT line however he's still going too many trips going 1/2. I'm hopeful by Sr year the shot is serviceable, its certainly still in the infant stages of improvement at this point and no where near where we thought he might be after spending an entire summer working to fix it. We know he works hard and pays attention to details so I wonder how much of it is still a mental thing rather then an actual mechanic issue?

Rumors now that it might be a torn fascia which would mean he is done for the year.
Ouch. Huge blow to KSU
Oklahoma St was blown out last night by Nebraska. 2nd half belonged to the Cornhuskers
How good is St Johns? 10-0 and have played an absolute powder puff schedule. They have a very talented starting 5 but 10-0 inflates their profile a bit to reality.
TCU 8-1 and a team I think is on the rise since getting back two key starters. 5 guys is double figures a night is going to help them going forward.
Houston is also 10-0, they are very good again this year. They should be favored heavily to win their next 5 games at least. They might win their next 10 with how the schedule is looking. Could be the last undefeated team standing in a month or so.
Time to give this guy some props for his defense and intangibles on the court so far this year.
His defense on Saturday against Paschall was outstanding. He was locked in. Talked after about the film he watched on how to guard him and its refreshing to see how much detail he put into that matchup. Overall I thought he did as good a job as we could have hoped on him.
We all know his 3 point shots are prayers, he constantly clanks the first free throw at the line and he's struggled finishing on drives but man does this kid compete on both sides. He's a valuable ball handler as we saw when Nova went to a full court press. It's nice to know if Dotson is struggling or in foul trouble that we have a ball handler that can get into the offense. He has great hands and awareness when looking for steals. More importantly we have a guy that can matchup with someone's best scorer 1-4 positions. Great to have.
He scores 1 point but his impact on the game seemed to outweigh what the box score says. Now if the staff could only get that shot fixed..
Mason has lost his rotation spot with the Kings it seems. Surprisingly the Kings are decent this year and have a winning record. Wonder what's going to happen with him
Oubre was traded to the new basketball purgatory- the Suns. I figured with how much the Wizards payed Porter Oubre was going somewhere else at some point. For Oubre this is the worst situation for him but hopefully he can get on a better team in the off-season.
Selden was supposed to be included in the Suns deal before that fell apart. Looks like his time with the Grizzlies won't be lasting too much longer.
Absolutely possible they just don't have the guard play to keep up with that style of play
That sucks. So excited to see him next year have no doubts hes going to be good
Doesn't help a redshirt year. Hopefully hes back by spring
