Yeah that was bad. He needs to learn to pass it out.
As well as pivoting in the lane. Hes still going 150 mph

Such a weak call
Dotson is a rare freshman that gets it defensively. Garrett got it as well last year for the most part however so far Dotson is showing some very good qualities

We will have to play our best game of the year to beat them. Its going to take at least 4 guys having their A game
I think Michigan State might be better than Tennessee, but missing Garrett hurts.
This will be my first time seeing them so I'll wait till I see them. I know Williams is the dragon we must cut in half
Would love to see our defense do something positive

Didn't he do this last year too?
And Jay would call him out every time

Will be interesting to see how we play without him. Lots of minutes for others.
We might get to see extended minutes for Chuck or KJ...
Well then...
Neither has shown that's a good thing yet. Time for one or both to step it up

No Garrett tonight. Concussion like symptoms. Rut roh

So far its looked like Dotson will be a OAD. It's super early but I cant imagine scouts are not impressed with his ability to defend, jet in the open court and run the team. Again this is just from what we have seen early but I can imagine he will only get better and more comfortable as the season goes. He is already one of the 5 most valuable players on this team and that wont be lost come spring
Eh, I still think there is a high chance he stays.
I hope so otherwise this wont be a top 25 team next season. But I think its early to call either way and if he continues to play well and this team goes far his stock will never be higher
I cant see Josh having much trade value, or will be someone a team covets. He can't shoot in this league
This is the most hilarious lawsuit so I agree. This kid has no clue what people know of him. Even the average fan who follows recruiting knows this wasnt just his dad the two situations are so connected.

All will crumble in the spring

KU getting involved.
@BeddieKU23 was it you that brought up this kid before?
Yes it was me. Just seemed like the type of recruit we get involved with. But I'm not impressed with film. He looks like he can shoot a little at least as a big
So Bowen can go blue in the face as much as he wants but he and his father schemed from high school maybe even before to get money at every step. Every single school that recruited him was trying to Pay him and his father. Such a joke it's not even funny
BShark said:
Lol, Bowen is a real piece of work.
Which one?
TCU still without Noi & Fisher. Fresno St gave them a game. TCU desperately needs its starters back to do anything this year
Uconn has good guards and last night they were teeing it up for 3, 9 of 14 from their trio. Both teams were horrendous in the post, horrendous
Jalen Carey is everything I thought he'd be. Really wanted him at KU. Had 26 last night. Didn't know he was a Cuse fan growing up and grew up close to campus. Makes sense why he ended up there.
Zags crushed Texas A&M by 23. A&M has hit hard times after that fire sale they had last season
Iowa is interesting. Have some 4 star talent and experience. Might be coming together finally.

I was kind of seeing the spring cupboard as somewhat bare.
Hope -- we get Matthew Hurt and a helpful grad transfer. We'll likely lose Dedric, Doke, Grimes, Vick -- uh, pretty much our whole starting lineup.
Dotson, Moore, Garrett, Mitch, McCormack. Right?
Agree, its bare right now. @BShark could be right about the staff trying to recruit Dedric or Doke at season's end to stay in some way. Both in similar situations that Frank, Devonte & Svi were in after their Jr years. The NBA is not drooling over them no matter what they do this year. You get one of them to pair with Dotson and its about maximizing the talent around those two.
Hurt would be a huge signing in the post if the Dedric/Doke boat is a lost cause. KU would still need a 4th big which is where the Silvio situation factors in. I would like to think by spring KU knows what its dealing with for Silvio. A Hurt/Silvio/Mitch/McCormack 4 stack is not the worst combination we've had.
Outside of the post situation being in flux we really need an impact guard. Losing Grimes/Vick will really sting. Garrett, Moore, KJ not going to cut it. Cassius Stanley would help some but he comes with his shortcomings as well. Probably ranked as high as he is because he's an elite athlete but not even close to the all around players that Grimes/Vick are right now.
At least Self's recruiting message should be clear and resonate with kids in the spring. He'll have starters minutes to hand out. Can't beat that unless the FBI thing still looms
As far as wings, staff seems high on Agbaji who they are stashing to have ready for next season. Agree though we somehow missed on almost every other blue chip wing we went after. Stanley is a wing imo in Self's offense so maybe a miracle happens and we get him.
We blew the Sam Williamson recruitment, that should have been the wing KU has in the fold right now. Missed on Jalen Wilson because we didn't sink our teeth enough to beat Michigan for him. I think he's a future pro in time. Achiuwa & Josh Green were always pipe-dreams. We got Braun who they like as an interchangeable perimeter option and he's 6'5, 6'6 and might still be growing.
Self has his work cut out for him in the upcoming months
I think Manning might have already been gone if Jaylen Hoard jumped ship from his last class. I knew it was going to be difficult for Danny when he unexpectedly lost his starting backcourt
Woodrow said:
I wonder how much longer Danny is going to survive at Wake. They are currently getting drilled by St. Joes.
lost by 20. ouchy

@BeddieKU23 Assuming that there is no evidence that Self or KT conspired in paying Silvio's guardian, why would Self or KT be suspended? Or are you talking about the current information warranting suspension more broadly (outside of Silvio)?
With Silvio, there is no real denial now from his camp.
We have evidence that Silvio's guardian was paid by UA and then some cash apparently from Adidas. That compromises eligibility of course, which could compromise our season if he plays (if it's not already compromised).
On the other hand, because as Self said, integrity is very important (a "fundamental role" as the coach) -- if there is that evidence regarding Silvio, or with any other player, I agree completely on coaches being suspended.
And I completely agree that I feel sorry for the kid. He has responsibility, of course, but it's a tangled web.
It's definitely a tangled web and I struggle to find a balance between all this. I was just looking at it through Silvio's eyes. He sits, KU's playing games, Self and KT are coaching. It would be hard to imagine he's not looking at this and being like why am I the only one being punished?
mayjay said:
@BeddieKU23 Silvio is in this "pickle" because he had a guardian who apparently sold Silvio's services to not just one but two universities. At best, Silvio took no interest in the instructions he was given to abruptly change his choice. At worst, he was complicit and jeopardized his career and KU's entire program. I see no similar information regarding the coaches except KT's discussion of what Zion's family supposedly wanted but certainly never got from KU.
Of course the rules are set up to punish/hold out Silvio for his guardian's actions, if true. Whether he (Silvio) was involved we don't know for sure. If he wasn't its awful crap luck. If he was involved then its a good thing he's not playing
Woodrow said:
@BeddieKU23 I totally understand that point of view, but Self is the HC and is the program. That is just the way it is.
My point is that it is not like KU just threw him out on the streets. He is still on scholarship, getting world class training, and living a better life then most.
Absolutely I agree with you.
Silvio is the easy escape-goat right now with how the rules are currently set up. The player gets punished (can't play) but everyone and everything else is business as usual. There was no "review" of Self or KT that we know of publicly. I'd asume its not as shiny rose gold as it seems behind the scenes but as far as we know Silvio is the fall boy, which is my only issue in all this.
Well if you look at it from this way- Self and KT are still coaching, KU is still playing games, but Silvio gets to sit its a double standard.

Updated original post. Both verbal commits signed yesterday.
Removed all High Priority recruits at this time. Realistically KU is done recruiting until the spring. Hopefully a great season can salvage this mess
The fact that Cassius didn't announce/sign yesterday is good for KU.
Yeah. I'd still be surprised if he signed with KU. Self made it seem like they weren't expecting anymore.
Is Stanley just going to verbal and not sign during the period?
I think Self made it clear that Doke if he stays out of foul trouble he is going to play big minutes.
He didn't against Michigan St and Dave played. Against Vermont Doke was out of foul trouble and Dave didn't get in the game.
I think that signals a few things. Self wants to play through Doke as much as he can right now and Dave isn't ready/ trusted in closer games where Doke isn't in foul trouble. It's only game two so it will be interesting to see if McCormack develops to the point where he's getting in games consistently regardless of the situation

@BeddieKU23 If you watched that game, guy is an animal. Hope he goes pro after this season.
Michigan looks like a top 5 team. Can play solid defense, have good guard play, and can shoot 1-5.
Yeah I have seen him play. I thought he was an underrated recruit (#40) but I am a bit surprised he's this good this early. He definitely makes Michigan formidable if he's the 2nd scorer to Matthews. Changes everything for this team.
I think Michigan was a motivated group last night after losing the NC game to them. Villanova is going to struggle after losing so much but I don't think anyone could have predicted this kind of struggle. Like the Duke game last week I'm not ready to overreact but Michigan has put themselves in the top tier conversation if they can play like that over the course of the season/post season
Future opponent alerts: New Mexico St gets beat by 15 by Saint Mary's. Marquette gets embarrassed by Indiana by 23.
Ignas Brazdeikis is legit for Michigan. Freshman is averaging 16 and 6 so far.
"Certainly the status hasn't changed even though wheels are in motion," Self said on Wednesday. "The status hasn't changed, and it's still preliminary. But I certainly hope we can have him back soon."
WHEELS ARE IN MOTION.
Yeah. He can continue to be a practice buddy here or go make some money somewhere else.
It's entirely possible he needs College but if he's not going to graduate then KU is nothing more then some training for him at this point. The NCAA isn't going to let him play this year
