Going to be tough to hold onto Furphy the way he's getting talked about. Self has usually pushed kids to the draft that are going to be lottery type selections and its possible he could be land in that discussion.
He isn't able to earn NIL but he also isn't apparently in a rush to get to the league. Being from Australia he may have a different opinion of how he wants to get to the next step in his career. Perhaps we luck out there and get that 2nd year.

We shall see but winning any of these last 5 games if Kev isn't able to play is going to be very difficult, home or not. Don't see how we can put an optimistic hat on at this point which sucks because the week off was supposed to help everyone. Sucks
And Self said his injury is one that won't heal 100% until rest and recovery allows him to work on rehabbing it back.
Unfortunately sitting out games and practices doesn't seem like it's going to fix it, it's only going to allow him to keep limping along.

Kev hasn't done anything this week. Might not play Saturday. Gonna be an issue regardless for the rest of the season. With that, we can put a cork in the ceiling of this team if he's not going to be healthy enough week to week
I'm hopeful we land a top transfer shooting guard that can take on Kevin's scoring role.
Another big, preferably a guy that is athletic with some physical maturity to deal with the ridiculous level of physicality in the league. If Flory isn't your answer to spell Hunter or whoever the starter is at the 5 it can't be another version of Braun. He's been a complete non factor helping Hunter stay healthy and fresh.
With the way they are recruiting the guard/wing at the HS level they are either going to get one or look at the portal.
Above anything else, can't go into a season ever again with 9 bodies. Self really needs to figure it out going forward. Should never have been in this position to begin with

Well scouted in conference play for sure. I think KU has to be selective when to run it too so you keep some surprise at times to make it an effective play. I think in the tournament we have a chance to catch a team that hasn't had time to scout it/practice against it (especially a 2nd game of weekend type)
He gets fouled a ton but he's getting a lot of benefits as well. It was pretty clear the ref's wanted that game tight late which they got but Ohio State made their FT's late to seal it
I don't know why refs hate us this year as a whole but they do. Hunter/Kev/KJ don't get nearly the favorable whistle others do
Yeah 7 wins against the Top 25 competition. They can compete with just about anyone when right. I just don't have any clue on what that means in the tournament. They have struggled on the 2-day turnarounds. Being healthy physically and mentally is a big thing with this group. No margin for error.
Currently this is the 2nd lowest rated team in the Self Era per Kenpom. Only the 2020-21 team ended rated lower, they lost in the 2nd round.
For further reference, the team rated the closest to this one (03-04) made the Elite 8. Perhaps an outlier since the next 5 lowest rated teams lost in the 1st or 2nd round. Hopefully this year is another outlier
Refs tried really hard to give Purdue a shot with the ft fest late
Feels like situational free throw shooting has been below par all year. When we have needed the front end of a 1 and 1 in close games or holding onto leads late in games, these situations have been problematic
