Will be interesting to see how we attack their Zone. The 3 players that were good at breaking the zone (Mari, Ellis & Greene) are no longer on the team.
Interesting you think Baylor is the same. Acuil is a really good shot blocker and Lecomte has swagger and is one of the best 3 point shooters in the league, Maybe they fold like they usually have but it looked to me that their skill level this year is much better then in the past
Agreed!
Nope it wasn't. We'll see if he ever gets himself back to his Ole Miss days. If Maxwell & Coleby are basically "last options" we should be signing as many bigs as we can get to come here
We can lose on the road and still get a #1 seed. It's likely we drop those games just because of the "super bowl" atmosphere those teams put themselves in to beat KU. What's more important is winning the league, winning the conference championship and hopefully getting a road win at Kentucky in January. We do all those things and it will be hard for this team to not end up on the #1 seed line playing in KC. Still to early to predict how things will go!
No and we still have no idea whether Preston will actually be on campus next year.
Wooten can red-shirt the 2nd semester and get the jump on his development, especially with Hudy.
He's the kind of athlete that KU needs in case things don't go as planned with Preston, Bragg goes Pro & Lightfoot & Coleby are still not the options at the 4. Honestly KU should be looking to get 2 more bigs because I don't think Maxwell is the answer at the 5 either
I think we need to hold off until a lot of these Big-12 teams actually play someone. OSU has a big test tonight and yes I agree Evans is really good, maybe the best PG in the league that has 4-5 really good one's. Tonight's game will go a long way in determining what OSU will do in the league.
ISU's experience will keep them in a lot of games. Can Morris be the big shot maker that Niang was all those years?
I actually think Baylor is the #2 team right now. I know Oregon has struggled and they were without by far their best player but Baylor looked the part of a team with some serious length and ability. Oregon will become a better team as the season goes on and I still think they are a top 10 team. Forget talking about Drew for a moment. Lecomte & Acuil are major upgrades at the positions they play. They seem to have the most talent and length that could bother KU.
WVU hasn't played anyone but, either has the rest of the league. We will certainly find out over the weeks if the Big-12 is really that down.
Everyone but Cal it looks. Looks like they all have 1 spot open.
Better question is has he taken any visits to those other 4
Should have posted here.
Wooten will enroll at semesters end. Bodes well for KU with an open spot
Wooten has decided to enroll in college at semesters end. KU has a Scholly. Hopefully we get this guy
No they will be average this yr
Your right OSU did control the game from start to finish. When their leading scorer went out they were down to I think 5 or 6 players. Gilbert, their stud PG didn't even play which made them even easier to beat. It was an ugly game with 84 FT's attempted. I think the final score was indicative of OSU as a whole, they could have blown Uconn out given the circumstances.
Playing UNC and their experience is a whole different ball game tonight. OSU has 3 players, not a whole team. UNC is going to feast on this team on offense and wear them down with tempo and size. If OSU plays them tighter then expected then maybe its time to consider OSU more then a middle of the road Big-12 team because Underwood has them playing fast, scoring at will against a bunch of nobody's and an underachieving Husky squad.
Mason is up to 33rd place with 1221 pts.
He needs 19 points tonight to catch Steve Woodberry. 43 points to catch Jarod Haase
I haven't really seen Bragg green-light himself for shooting the pick and pops. He often gets the ball around the perimeter and immediately is in motion to pass it. When the ball does swing back to him and he's wide open he's taken the shot and made a good % of them from what I remember.
The game is still slowing down for Bragg, I saw 2 instances where he rushed when the ball was given to him last night. One, he caught a pass off guard penetration and lost the handle as he looked like he was going to dunk or lay it in ( I believe this was within the 1st six minutes of the game). The 2nd was a wide open 8 footer where he airmailed it (also first half). Both cases he didn't look comfortable making a basketball play. He will get there but we have to be patient. He needs confidence in his role
UNC has a major advantage in the post. Unless Evans, Forte & Carroll shoot lights out I don't see them winning this game or even keeping it within danger.
Ok St only beat Uconn by 8 and they were down 2 of their best players
That dunk was punishing. It was like he was mad at the rim
Really impressed with Svi's ability to move his feet on defense. I think that has been the one area he's improved the most to my eye. He's not using his hands as much to stop a defender which he used to get called routinely for. The improved rebounding and taking better shots has made him an all around better player as others above mentioned.
Keep it up young man
Exactly we just don't have an option in the post that can be trusted with the ball.

I agree with that assumption and really its not much of one seeing what's gone on since the scandal started. There has been so much it's on page 10 right now. The O-Lineman that was stalking his ex. The Title 9 lady that resigned because she was threatened and couldn't do her job because of the culture. You even had Shawn Oakman, a former player convicted of sexual wrong-doing at a game this year. I'm sure I'm missing others because everything just blurs together.
Nothing has changed
At this point the Big-12 is responsible for everything Baylor does now. They know the black eye that is Baylor, they don't care because there is too much money and stability involved.
I just lost my coffee reading that
As a Follow up I do think we'll see the front line improve.
We know Lucas isn't this bad.
Bragg is adjusting to playing big minutes and being asked to do things he didn't have to last year. His transition to consistency is not there yet but we've seen plenty of flashes.
Doke is exactly as advertised, a big body with a long ways to go. Again some very good moments we've seen from him especially rebounding the ball and altering shots.
Saying all that we knew all along our front court was not the strength. Right now it looks like a glaring weakness and it is. But the key to this team is perimeter scoring and that is an adjustment for the coaches and fans to accept. We go as far as the guards and wings can take us.
football money makes it all go away
We actually can win the championship without balanced production from the front court. We have the guards and wings that very few teams can match. We have a Wing that only can stop himself (Jackson). If he stays out of foul trouble he'll have more nights like he did last night.
Last Night Jackson had 22, Mason 20, Graham 16 & Svi 15. Those are the kind of stat lines that can win any game in the tournament.
Bragg had a bad game but we know we can get 10-12 points a game out of him.
As much as it worries me that we don't have great balance right now, something will change over the coming months and Self will find a way to make it work
Well said, the bigs were not good last night. I feel like we'll see this bunch be up and down for a while.
The bigs will have to be much better tonight because Georgia has a really good 1-2 inside/outside combo in Maten & Frazier. Maten is a man inside, we don't have anyone to guard him. Frazier is a jet, same size as Mason so that will be an exciting match-up. The rest of Georgia is junk, Parker has played well for them but he's a junkyard type guard with no perimeter shot.
This is the type of game that could be close because Georgia has 2 very good players that can have big games and they only need the rest to do their normal job. We'll need to play well in this one
This team just got away from any offense once they zoned and started saging men in the paint and on mason. Bad ball. Self will yell at them plenty
I think 5 post Points total from posts 0 from Lucas doke coleby
Those 3s are the definition of fools gold
They are literally not even playing hard right now
They are just standing around omg
Terrible is the only word for that
Dirk williams career night
J for the j
Colby lost on defense
Lucas didn't even touch him
And the effort on defense is gone
Devonte has shot this team out a lead after shooting them into one
A bunch of bricks
Joke
How can Josh be this bad at the line
Shooting woos
Uab doubling Mason and Graham just jacking shots
Have to make that shot vick
Feels like Graham should have 6 3's by now
That play by vick was out of control
Well the effort that got us up 20 is gone
Lots of fouls..
Bragg just airballed a 8 footer
Jackson out already. Good lord
Great Mason holding his wrist
