Doubtful with 6 1/2 minutes left on this woman's college field hockey game

@rockchalkjayhawk

It actually sounds like Rosario may just be better than Dawson and the team's ceiling higher with him starting. Both will play a lot but sounds like Kohl has had the edge

Dawson has been injured of late. Self says everyone is good to go for the exhibition however we'll see. He mentioned Kohl would start Friday.

Crazy to think in a few years both spring games for football and opening basketball festivities may be completely gone. Perhaps something else replaces them in the future but this is a live look at the struggles they face currently. It's certainly bittersweet for traditions that held some value and meaning to both the programs and fans

Late Night • Oct 20, 2025 10:21 AM

Been a bunch of social media chatter about people unhappy with Hunter getting booed during Late Night. I guess people weren't afraid to call a spade a spade.

We're preseason Number ... 19 • Oct 20, 2025 10:20 AM

@drgnslayr

Cutting costs is what I've heard is the main reason. Basically, it was expensive to produce and i'm imagining the return on investment was minimal if not a loss. Just reading the tea leaves. I can imagine KU doesn't have extra cash laying around for this anymore. Plus, Late Night used to be a big recruiting event and now it's not needed in the NIL era. KU had its 26 class wrapped up before LN even happened.

Traditions are certainly fading and becoming non-existent in this new era.

Missed 5 games last yr due to ankle injury. Missed 14 games 3 yrs ago for hand injury. Bout all I could find

We're preseason Number ... 19 • Oct 16, 2025 08:20 AM

Self mentioned Dawson has been out with a knee injury but nothing serious, just limited him of late.

Most noteworthy thing to take away from yesterday

@wissox ok mc crankypants… we have been talking extensively about a lot of these guys. And when have you ever known the name of the walkons?

Things change. Hating change is a little bit pissing into the wind unfortch. Not everything can be as immutable as good ol KU buckets! ;)

Hang in there.

Very little player analysis. No new threads started for the individual 2026 recruits even through they’re highly regarded. It seems the current landscape has dimmed our love of college basketball to the point no one really cares. Or the smart folks have left us. lol probably the latter.

I feel that. There's certainly been a big downturn in traffic here in the last 4-5 years. We've lost a lot of good people that used to post regularly for whatever reason. Life happens; things change. Discussions are not what they used to be when there was full on back and forth for days on a single topic. I have no excuses to make for my part in all this. Life is a lot busier for me then it was years ago when I would be knee deep in whatever topic/discussion. Hopefully this season will be fun to talk about compared to the last few..

We're preseason Number ... 19 • Oct 15, 2025 10:08 AM

@wissox

I'm grumpy too, I just tend to keep it to myself at this point. There are so many new names and unknowns, even for KU this is an unprecedented year where only 1 starter/rotation player returns that even played from last year's team. It is crazy times, and we don't have to like the current landscape.

We lived through the golden era of College Basketball and now that's over with IMO. What's here now is difficult, to say the least. I wonder what young fans think growing up in this era of the last 5 years or so as opposed a lot of us that enjoyed life before NIL and heavy transfers.

The NCAA has never been our friend & look at all the examples from just the Self era of their incompetence so it only made sense once they got caught with their pants down, they decided not to put them back on.

We're preseason Number ... 19 • Oct 14, 2025 06:49 PM

I have no idea what to expect from this year, but it's a fresh start for the fanbase. New leaders, new coaches, new start. Love Harris & Adams to pieces but it was time. Hunter imo was a paper tiger and that's the concern with high profile transfers with no NBA future.

I think they are fairly ranked for now. I think the variance is rather wide in either direction of where they could be at season's end.

How much does Peterson change the game for you? He has the chance to be the best player on the court every time he laces them up. Once we see it in action, it will be interesting to project just how good he makes us.

I would say after Peterson every position is a bit of an unknown. Flory should take a leap, if he doesn't the ceiling is low. It sounds like we recruited the portal better in terms of fit and hit on Council/White. Dawson is a TBD based on what we've heard but should be good enough.

I think the major concern is just how many 1st year players will have to play meaningful roles. Rosario, Tiller, Mbiya, Calderon could all be in your top 8. Tiller and Jackson are recovering from serious leg injuries and have missed a lot of development time.

I'm very interested to see how Self handles a lot of things. Who's the 5th starter- Dawson or Rosario. Who's the backup big- Mbiya or Tiller. Who plays the 4 when White sits- Rosario or Tiller/Calderon. I still would have preferred a veteran mature big on this squad but hopefully they are right on Mbiya and Tiller being ready. What will we get out of Jackson returning from injury. Big question marks on him and where he fits in the rotation. We should be more athletic and with the height/length of everyone be a terror defensively.

I'm excited for the season. We have a potential generational talent leading and that's going to be fun to watch.

2026 Recruiting ( Crazy but ) • Oct 03, 2025 02:31 PM

@Kcmatt7

I'm also okay with it. Stokes is nowhere near DP's level. The stars aligned to build your current year around a generational freshman but rarely if ever that magic strikes in consecutive years and let's be honest you shouldn't go to the well every year expecting a freshman to lead. The 26 class just isn't good and I think it's wise to spend cautiously on it. They pursued to the end which was the right thing. I think this does allow the staff to be aggressive in the portal next spring in ways they weren't allowed to be this offseason. Will be crazy regardless

2026 Recruiting ( Crazy but ) • Oct 03, 2025 02:24 PM

Sounds like the pursuits of Christian Collins, Brandon McCoy are going nowhere. Ariza is deciding soon between Oregon/USC soon. Just rounding up some names KU was linked with in recent months.

If Adkins commits Sunday as planned KU will have the #2 ranked class in 26 for now. Bardwell's decision today could sway this later on next year if he moves to 26 class. As it looks KU is probably done until spring you would think for next year.

2026 Recruiting ( Crazy but ) • Oct 03, 2025 02:14 PM

@BShark

That sucks but was kind of the theme since his visit here a while back. Guess they can big spend on a top transfer to be the guy in 26-27

2026 Recruiting ( Crazy but ) • Oct 03, 2025 10:16 AM

@SlimShaddy54

Swain on 247 says if he does announce that KU was in a strong position. That's usually code for yes.

2026 Recruiting ( Crazy but ) • Oct 01, 2025 09:52 PM

What a week. Stokes could be announcing soon as well. Could also be landing the 27 kid that could potentially reclass. Interesting twists going on

Thanks, he looked bigger in videos so that makes sense. That's a really good wingspan for a wing. No complaints on this one, especially if there's something to develop over a few yrs

@TYOHawk 247: scouting report reads like a Bill Self wishlist and a fans nightmare 😂

Highlights show high level of anticipation on steals, instincts on the offensive glass, good athleticism, good in transition, capable at some other things. I saw a Self guy for sure. Looked bigger then 6'4, wonder if he has good measurables. You need guys like this in the program as you fill the roster in the NIL era

2026 Recruiting ( Crazy but ) • Sep 28, 2025 12:16 PM

Trent Perry announcing Wednesday. Sounds very promising with him

2026 Recruiting ( Crazy but ) • Sep 25, 2025 10:53 AM

Big weekend. Top big target Adkins in town and KU is the heavy favorite for him.

Kinney announces Sunday.

Latest intel says KU still fighting for Stokes.

I'd imagine if the staff was able to get all 3 that they would be set in the HS ranks especially in this down year.

2026 Recruiting ( Crazy but ) • Sep 25, 2025 10:47 AM

@SlimShaddy54

Perry visit went well and they are in a good position with him but Swain did mention it could take a bit for that situation to sort itself out.

Kinney intel is still good for him signing with the good guys on Sunday

Positive vibes • Sep 19, 2025 11:34 AM

I've had some hardships over the past year and life can be a complicated mess but everyone has their ups and downs.

I got a big promotion a year ago but the benefits haven't outweighed the negatives so I'm at a crossroads. It has brought me financial stability in these hard times though which I'm thankful for but I know I'm going to have to make a decision one way or the other at some point.

My son has become fully invested in baseball this year and the journey still continues. He went from Little League to All Stars to now travel ball and will pitch in his first 9U kid pitch game tomorrow so that's very exciting. I'm a nervous wreck but can't wait to see him perform. We have lived at the baseball field since April, and it's been an honor to watch him grow as a person and player. I don't think we'll know what to do with ourselves when the travel season ends next month but basketball is next up for him and he's excited for that. Hopefully this year I can get him into watching some KU games with me as he was curious at times last season.

Good with Ochai at #1. He was a huge success story

2026 Recruiting ( Crazy but ) • Sep 11, 2025 11:45 AM

Nice little recap of where top 2026 targets stand as of late. Several others not mentioned that are top targets (Adkins, Ariza, Collins, Holt, Stokes, Adams). Seems like KU is definitely in it with the right kids from what is not a strong class. Recruiting definitely on the upswing.

Sounds very promising for Taylen Kinney (#13 overall). Top ranked PG on the board. One to monitor closely as he finishes his visit schedule this month.

Ethan Taylor- KU still a perceived Top 2 with Indiana right now, he does have several more officials including KU upcoming.

Sounds like KU is getting involved with Brandon McCoy the #6 overall prospect. A visit to KU could be in the works.

Trent Perry (#120 overall) visits this weekend, has only 2 other planned visits (TCU, Vandy, Maryland also finalist). KU offered in late August.

Alex Constanza, #22 ranked player also visits this weekend. Haven't heard of him being a prospect until now.

KU Roster for 25-26 • Sep 08, 2025 10:08 PM

@Jhawk69

Yeah this offseason should have benefited him the most. I don't particularly think he has the body type that's meant to put on a lot of mass as you want him to be the athletic specimen he is but natural maturation should help him be more of a post anchor this yr. I'm interested to see his skill development as much as anything. Self sounded very pleased with his progression this summer.

I have done the same when it comes to KU Football. I'm watching the games and following the ins and outs for my fellow bucketeer friends who want the fb team to be good consistently. I have enjoyed following Lepoid as an outsider.

So I finished Yellowstone. What an embarrassing end to the show with no Costner. Somebody messed that up big time.

Are you familiar at all with the drama that happened prior to the final episodes being released? That also took over 1 year before the final episodes were released. It is what it is and not an uncommon theme for tv shows that get so big and have such following for the wheels to fall off towards the end.

Hearing Elmarko has been really good and could push to start. Dawson is a really good 6th man if needed.

Rosario has signed with KU and it's official. Nice work shutting down his other visits and getting him signed. Decent shot at carving a role as a freshman as a wing shooter. We'll see if he can defend anyone.

Demir is still working on eligibility, Mbiya is eligible.. Sounds like one of them is more likely then both. Also sounds like one of them is more likely then Konan.

The portal. • Jun 23, 2025 10:09 AM

Looks like we might lead for Rosario who's very likely to end up in 25. Just saw his rank go from 120's to 45. Just wrapped up a visit here
