Evan put in a pick for Jalen Wilson to KU šŸ‘€šŸ‘€šŸ‘€

Blackshear won’t look at colleges until he determines whether he’s going to stay in the draft or not.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 14, 2019 12:51 AM

Precious announcing this weekend for Memphis.

RJ Hampton • May 14, 2019 12:50 AM

I don't have a firm date, but in the next 2 weeks seems pretty likely so he can get on campus for summer school.

RJ Hampton • May 14, 2019 12:49 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I know that overseas is a very real option, with Australia being the likely destination with Under Armour brokering the deal if it happens. And Kansas is firmly in the lead if he goes to college.

RJ Hampton • May 14, 2019 12:45 AM

@BShark It would be a big UA marketing thing. Shoe deal and the whole 9 yards.

Our answer to where he is going? - I just can't see oversea's

My honest answer is I think Australia. But Kansas if he opts for college.

@KirkIsMyHinrich your question will be answered soon or something to that effect.

Boogie to Memphis as expected.

And I absolutely love Isaiah Todd. UK is going to be a nightmare though.

Some good info from the Star (oxymoron I know) on some 2020 guys. https://www.kansascity.com/sports/college/big-12/university-of-kansas/article230345514.html ↗

2019 Transfer List • May 13, 2019 03:25 AM

Gonna be a fun bench piece. I hope.

2020 Recruiting • May 13, 2019 12:30 AM

I’m not sure what the strategy is in 20. We need a big, big group again. Brown and Dante are the big targets but I think UNC for Brown and Oregon for Dante.

Are we back now? • May 12, 2019 06:51 PM

I think Louisville, NC State, and obviously Arizona will get the hammer. KU probably not much.

@jayballer73 we could've used him against Auburn...

No doubt there. Moss has nothing to do with Hampton, just like Tucker didn’t.

2019 Transfer List • May 12, 2019 05:58 PM

2/3, designated sniper. Bench depth since we just need bodies at this point.

Nice. So you can see the VIP picks? Someone said we reached out to him. Is that true?

I can! I’m an Inside Carolina member, mostly for their football coverage. We did, he wasn’t interested.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 12, 2019 01:10 AM

@Woodrow Boogie Ellis

New 2019 Recruiting • May 12, 2019 01:00 AM

And Evan put one in for Memphis. What a deal

Rayjon Tucker • May 12, 2019 12:06 AM

@jayballer73 I guess he’s angling for some kind of guarantee?

Rayjon Tucker • May 12, 2019 12:02 AM

@BShark I guess if he stays in the draft we’ll have dodged a bullet

Rayjon Tucker • May 11, 2019 11:54 PM

Hmmm. ?s=21

New 2019 Recruiting • May 11, 2019 11:35 PM

Agreed. Dotson is probably back, which gives us 9. Yeah I think 11 at most.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 11, 2019 11:00 PM

@KirkIsMyHinrich i think so. He’s plenty old enough.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 11, 2019 10:57 PM

@KirkIsMyHinrich as of now, yes.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 11, 2019 10:53 PM

I expect KU to lean a bit on Kyree Walker now.

Rayjon Tucker • May 11, 2019 10:27 PM

KirkIsMyHinrich said:

Must have paid a pretty penny to get him. Hope we can get RJ.

Must have. Because Rayjon gave his verbal to Townsend.

Rayjon Tucker • May 11, 2019 10:21 PM

This one sucks. Staff thought they had him.

I'm starting to think we don't get Rayjon, either.

Just committed to Memphis

And there was a guy named Goodluck fairly recently. I don’t remember where he played.

That’s his parents thing. It’s common to have unusual names (for us) in Nigeria. His brother’s name is God’s Gift.

Memphis

New 2019 Recruiting • May 11, 2019 06:34 AM

Precious will not wait on Silvio. This one seems over. My 2 cents minus a cent.

Marcus • May 11, 2019 02:55 AM

Marcus is a fantastic role player. He can’t be our first or second option on offense. He’s a great defender. It’s a wonderful thing when the eye test, and all flavors of advanced stats all match up. That’s the case of Marcus’s defense. He doesn’t turn it over, he creates turnovers, and like Self says, he’s a ā€œsecurity blanket.ā€ Surround him with guys like Hampton and Tucker and he’ll be able to play to his strengths.

I’d be stunned if he stayed in the draft. He’s like a fringy top 100 guy right now because he’s a borderline SF in the NBA. More of a 4.

Marcus • May 11, 2019 12:01 AM

@KUSTEVE it’s not his strength. I think he’ll be around 35% from the college line, maybe a bit less if they move it back to FIBA distance. He’s much more a get to the rim kind of player. His frame is finally filling out so it could help his shooting some as well.

Marcus • May 10, 2019 11:16 PM

Here’s how I evaluated him when he committed. Seems to have aged well. https://throughthephog.com/2016/08/02/pg-marcus-garrett-commits-kansas/ ↗

Marcus • May 10, 2019 10:19 PM

Marcus does everything well except shoot. Full stop.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 10, 2019 06:31 PM

From their Memphis writer. Interesting.

I’ll add I’m still skeptical of any Precious to Kansas talk as long as Silvio is still in limbo. I think they’re still recruiting him, but can’t see them doing what it takes to land him unless Silvio is gone.

DeSousa Tracker • May 10, 2019 03:37 PM

Part of the new agent rule is you can’t miss class to go to a team workout. Maybe he had class?

KU is all but out here.

Can you expand on that?

Sure. I think it’s a few things. Getting Enaruna makes getting a body less important. And they can’t promise Holyfield will start given Silvio. If Silvio’s case goes sideways then KU feels they can land Precious or a guy like Shak Juiston to plug a hole. And there’s some concern since he didn’t play last year.

@FarmerJayhawk I'm worried based on what I've seen. He's a big time brick mason and he's got a handler and they are going to be focused on his brand and want him to be taking shots.

@Marco Gut feeling? I think if the staff is really getting back in there with Precious then they certainly think the news is going to be bad for Silvio. This would be an absolute 180 from recent vibes.

Gut feeling. I think that he won't be back for the reason that you stated above. Hampton and Precious seem - I may be wrong (it wouldn't be the first, Lol) - to be a package deal. The NCAA really double-dribbled in the handling of De Sousa. "We gave the 2-year ban and, by god, we have to stick to it. We might appear wrong and weak otherwise," is what they could be saying to themselves.

Except it’s not ā€œthe NCAAā€ that’s deciding Silvio’s fate. It’s an independent appeals committee made up of a bunch of different people not affiliated with the NCAA.

I stand corrected, sir. Appreciate the info. Sure wish the hell they would hurry up so that we don't whiff on recruits while waiting. I think the NCAA was beyond wrong giving a 2-year ban. We shall see, though. Who would you want (De Sousa aside)? Holyfield or Precious?

No worries my man! I think that’s the biggest reason there’s such optimism on KU’s side. They feel the facts of the case and the punishment are way out of whack and most reasonable folks will see it their way.

I definitely have a biased opinion, but I’ll take Precious. I really like Holyfield, and if he had played last year I’d probably take him. But a right shoulder injury makes me nervous, especially when shooting is one of his calling cards. Precious isn’t perfect either. He’s not a great shooter and his feel for the game isn’t there yet, but he’s an elite athlete with the tools Self and co can mold into a really good player if Precious will take coaching. And I think he will. But there’s not a massive gap there.

Holyfield • May 10, 2019 03:00 AM

Not any more than anyone else. Both want to get to the pros ASAP. Anything beyond that is just meh.

@Marco they’re not a package deal in any way, shape, or form.

Boogie’s going to pop for Memphis early next week. RJ will then cut them, probably not publicly.
