A lot of buzz out there that Shaka is leaving UT. Will Baker and/or Kai Jones come on down!
Sounds like KU is honing in on this guy for a 2020 PG. Hampton could play on or off the ball and they’d obviously be able to defend both guard spots. https://247sports.com/Player/Daishen-Nix-46050728/ ↗
Miller seems resigned to his fate. His comments tonight were odd to say the least

Where would this team be with Romeo? He would have made a difference imo. And I think Self would have made him a top 7 pick. Indiana sort of exposed him by leaning on him too hard.
No Vick, Ochai probably keeps his redshirt unless Self pulls it when Garrett gets hurt. Maybe Cunliffe sticks around?

Will Wade was suspended Indefinitely.
Should last less then 24 hours. The NCAA will clear him LOL
Wow, LSU acted fast. Has anyone heard of any information coming out on U of A and/or Sean Miller?
The rumor is Miller is toast after the season.
While I believe this to be true it is amazing he has signed the #1 recruiting class in the country and Bill can't even get a top 100 kid.
Look at last year’s classes. Zona was in the spotlight all year and is going to miss the tournament.

Good call. Well it’ll be a matter of time for UT and Shaka
I think it'll be Texas. They were really involved in the Tugs Bowen saga.

My guess right now on critical players.
Back: Dotson, Grimes, Doke
Gone: Dedric
Concur. If Doke was definitely leaving we'd be chasing more than 2 bigs right now. Grimes is in the high 50's-60's on most draft boards so I can't see him going anywhere. There just isn't a 2019 first rounder on this team. Even Dedric is a mid-2nd kind of guy.
Duke getting involved with Cassius Stanley. I think KU has been out of this one for awhile. I think they're banking on Grimes coming back.
KU has a real shot in this one, assuming RJ comes in 2020. He probably won't decide on a class until summer.
At this point I think Tech wins the league. They’re playing like a legit top 5 team right now.
Dedric (both in play at attitude) reminds me of a 50 year old who owns pickup games at the neighborhood rec league. I would do unspeakable things to keep him around another year.

Since CBS sucks and I probably won't get to see rebroadcast, did Grimes bring ball up more today and did his emergence throw Dotson off? Was Dotson's role changed bc of Q?
Did other team focus on DD and challenge Q to perform?
Not really. Dotson and Moore usually brought it up, but Q was a lot more active driving it since Dotson was in foul trouble the second half. Q was definitely more aggressive on both ends. Idk if others thought the same, but I thought he played more on the ball in the half court.

WOW. Boynton dropping huge bombs.
Smart guy. Self has developed a boatload of guards. Some guys just have a steeper learning curve. Grimes didn’t play against top tier competition in HS and his was steep.

Another thing to keep in mind is Grimes is almost a year younger than most freshmen. He doesn’t turn 19 until May. Cassius Stanley is actually almost a year older than Grimes. I think he’ll take a big step forward in his age 19 season. And it’ll be his first full offseason at KU. More time with Hudy and the coaches working on his shot and getting more comfortable around Dotson and Agbaji will be really helpful.
Grimes' age is a factor in his development, particularly his strength. As he continues to mature, that will come. Grimes could explode at any moment because he already has lots of skills.
For sure. Also of note, Self flat out said the locker room is better now than it was 3 weeks ago. Read: Vick was bad for the team.
I see the light starting to flicker for Grimes now that Vick is gone. He and Ochai are much better together. More addition by subtraction. Honestly all 4 wouldn’t shock me. He has to become a more consistent shooter. But I think we get him for 3.

@FarmerJayhawk Who handles the ball for them next season then? I think Jones is gone. Boogie doesn't seem like anymore a PG than RJ.
I think Jones comes back but I’m not that sure.
Also of note. RJ is like 6 months younger than Grimes. And Cassius Stanley is almost a year older than Grimes.
Gut feeling is RJ stays in 20. He wouldn’t play on ball at Duke next season and RJ REALLY wants to be a PG.
@HighEliteMajor it’s SUPER routine for victims in a fraud trial to seek restitution from the perpetrator. There’s no discovery or anything that takes place that verifies most of these claims. If the judge finds it reasonable he or she will order it done. Simple as that.
Eh, this is just how it works at this level of talent. Either play the game or have a team full of Mitch Lightfoot’s (Lightfeet?)

@BShark That's what I was afraid of -so we need to run from that situation with Precious
Not gonna happen. Self wants him bad.
KU wants at least two more bigs assuming Dedric and Silvio leave.

@FarmerJayhawk Would be a dream to land him. Wouldn't even care if Hurt went to Duke. Though right now Hurt is the better offensive player.
Either one. The perimeter is going to be salty.
Agree. With or without Grimes. I hope it's with though.
Should be. At this point the staff isn’t recruiting any guards other than Stanley. Who honestly would be a nice bench piece.

@BShark @Crimsonandblue12 Precious is enormous. Wayne is probably 6’7 or so and Precious makes him look small. Honestly he’s big enough to play some 5.
@BShark 0-4 at AFH, 1-3 at the Octagon of Room, and 0-2 in the tournament so you’ve got it! Kam Stokes is in that group too. Best class in cat history 😂😂
If I’m Precious right now AFH looks mighty fine
wissox said:
Dude from KState just said that he doesn't know if it's hard to win in AFH.
Narrator, “It’s hard to win at AFH.”
More follow the leader than anything. Literally 3 days ago Evan said he didn’t know jack. Bossi over at Rivals still likes KU.
Sounds like Zona is going to get nuked back to the Stone Age by the NCAA. I expect a feeding frenzy when Miller gets canned.

@kjayhawks Plus donors do change. Maybe some new blood money prefers football. Idk. Sure seems like KU is trying more in football now.
We’re trying harder in everything in the AD. Long is adding support staff to all sports and going to upgrade the quality of coaches in at least one, maybe 2-3 sports over the next year. Fun time to be a Jayhawk unless one is a basketball t-shirt only fan.
Precious is in LFK.
He deleted the original and tweeted again without the weird “I’m still open” remark. 🐦 View Tweet?s=21
The Dean Dome is going to be insane when Dook comes to town. With any luck I’ll get to go and report back how it compares to AFH against a legit opponent. Even this year against KSU won’t be as good as UK in 2014 and the epic OU game. But it’ll be a fun comparison.
Still really like our chances with Hurt. I think UK is out. Keion Brooks seems like their guy at that spot. UNC is in a similar position to us. They’re losing Maye and almost certainly Nas Little, so there’s a boatload of minutes at the 4. They’re also probably getting Cole Anthony, which is really appealing. And then Duke is Duke. White dudes love playing the 4 for Duke.
Also going to UNC for the Dook game. Last I heard Precious was pretty open. Visits will be crucial.
He’s almost 6’10 now. Legit combo forward.
He’s going G League.

@FarmerJayhawk you think self wanted him to announce it? Wouldn't it be better for their family if he finished school and bb so he could make some kind of living to better help their family?
Explicitly? If things ended poorly I don’t think Self cares. We also don’t know if Vick graduated in December. It’s entirely possible he did. He can still be on scholarship and get his stipend if he graduated and is enrolled.
HighEliteMajor said:
Fran also said today Vick would not be back ...
He’s right. Vick isn’t coming back. It’s clear that we’re better off without him and Vick’s family needs him. It’s better for everyone this way.
It’s going to be anywhere from 2-4. With the NET, a lot of the subjectivity is out the window.
If Fran puts something like that out there, he knows. KU fans can bitch all they want, but Self and Fran are tight. I think it’s why Fran is always so hard on KU. He and Self see how good KU can be and comment as such. Just remember last year when all Fran said was KU was going to play bully ball with Doke and Dedric. Fran knows as much about the program as anyone not employed by KUAD.

I'm just hoping that Self letting him bomb away from 3 on the U18 team was enough to convince him to come.
I'm sure he is being told he'd get the keys like Dedric.
Yes. I feel as good about Hurt as I have in quite awhile. I think he’s done with visits and will announce for KU around the end of April.

Wake me up to that one when he ends up at Duke/UK/insert ACC team
Quack quack
NBAdraft.net is crap. DraftExpress doesn’t have him in their top 60 for 2020. He might surprise me, but I don’t think he’ll even test until 2020.

@FarmerJayhawk It probably doesn't help Miller that UA is sitting in the 9th spot in the Pac-12 with a 5 - 5 conference record and currently have a 4-game losing streak going.
Right. He does have an incredible class coming in, but at some point you can’t outrun the law, whether that be the kangaroo court of the NCAA or the SDNY.
wissox said:
Has Doke played too much for this season to be considered a redshirt?
It would be a huge win to get Doke for next year. 20-21 is fantasy. He’ll graduate sometime next year so at that point he’ll be wanting money, not a masters.
On Miller, I’ve heard it’s a matter of when. Powers that be in the state are extremely angry that he’s had 3 assistants fired for NCAA rulebreaking and criminal behavior.
