Hecklinski seems incredibly qualified. Recruiting Coordinator, RB, and WR coach experience at Michigan and SDSU under Hoke and QB/OC experience at Zona. Also coached at Ft. Scott and Benedictine back in the day. Seems like a really good fit. We needed another guy who can get kids in the Midwest IMO.

Another signing that was not listed earlier is Torry Locklin, a dual threat three star QB from Texas (although he grew up in New Mexico). QB of the future?
Terry is still listed as committed, though he has not signed yet.
Grayshirt last year. Not sure we have any clue what we have with him yet. Get him here for spring and see what happens.
I donāt expect any o-line until late, if we take any this year. We blueshirted quite a few this year. Terry should be this afternoon but Iām still a little nervous.

@FarmerJayhawk You seem to be more educated on Jax than I am lol.
Ha! Now that school is on break i just have the opportunity to watch football to my heartās content. And itās a glorious thing.
Landed Justin Ford, 3* CB. May end up at S because of his size.

@FarmerJayhawk I'd move him to LB like Joe, people forget he actually played FB for a couple of games back in 2015.
I donāt think Jax is quick enough to play LB in the Big 12. And heās really short. Joe and Jay are 6ā2 and Jax is maybe 5ā11.

Bowen is more than capable as a position coach. He's a borderline solid coordinator. As a position coach, he could raise the level of play.
My suspicion is that Hull will coach the RBs and maybe TEs.
Miles has not hired a QB coach yet. That's still a major hire that he needs to nail if KU is going to turn this around.
LB coach is also still out there, unless someone already on staff is going to oversee them.
Either way, this coaching staff is world's better than anything KU has had on the sidelines, particularly recently.
Bowen is a bad coordinator. There's not really much more to it.
Lindsey will coach QB's, and Eliot will coach ILB's.
I don't have strong feelings about Bowen other than he's a bad DC and recruiter. The only reason I'm even kind of ok with him staying (if true) is that it saves a ton of cash that we ended up spending on other assistants. Keep in mind there's a fixed pool of money Les had to hire assistants. Bowen's $500k would've been dead weight and enough for like 2 other dudes. Instead of not being salary competitive for two spots we bury Bowen at safeties or some minor spot and spend the extra cash on a really good assistant like Drake or Jackson.
@kjayhawks I personally think he's stuck at FB at this level, and not sure if we're really even going to use one with any regularity. Since we're stuck at 15 this cycle, it makes a ton of sense to blueshirt him if possible. Whether he wants to do that is a different story.
@kjayhawks rumor is we didnāt offer Jax a full scholarship, or wanted him to blue/Grey shirt.
3x3 guy. Huge.

Which game do you think he makes it in for? Texas Tech Feb 2nd or West Virginia on the 16th if he follows up on visiting in February
Iāve heard Tech on the 2nd.
We got Terry. My god I love that kid.
Cole Mueller decommitted. Have to take it as a sign they have 15 better in mind.

I'm sure farmer prolly thinks KU still sits well with him but I dont see it
Youād be correct. I think itās KU or Carolina. People are reading too much into him taking the process slowly. Like Iāve been saying, until recently heās been more interested in his HS football team than college basketball. If folks think that means KU isnāt getting him, I donāt see the connection.
Parchment and Naylor are freaky athletes. Really big too. Immediately juices the running game. Both should be here next month.

Added Ezra Naylor today. Big bodied JUCO WR. For w/e reason, the staff is going HARD after wrs, they must not like what is on the roster already.
And itās a big need. Weāre graduating 4 scholarship WRās and the returnees are less than inspiring.
Self is underrated if anything. His consistency is pretty mind boggling. And thereās this. https://ibb.co/0Cq05fK ā
Can never have enough big bodies. Going to need some guys if we lose 3 bigs.

@FarSideHawk Ha, I drove for Pizza Shuttle one year. Crazy/fun job that destroyed my Chevy Chevette as I tore around Lawrence trying to make as many deliveries as i could to make more money!
Man, I worked in the kitchen for a couple of summers. I believe the summer of 95 and 96. Long hours but fun times.
Iāll never forget the ad. 8421212 call us now Pizza Shuttle

Every place yāall mentioned is full to over-flowing. Ended up at the Sandbar.with a bunch of Villanova jerks.... uh, folks
I love the Sandbar! Weird thereās room for Nova types
Brunch: Roost and Miltonās are the best. I prefer the former since the family is from my neck of the woods
Pizza: Minskyās, Pizza Shuttle (cream cheese and pepperoni is my jam), or Pyramid (cream cheese and bacon).
Wings: Jeffersonās on Mass, or R Bar on 6th has excellent whole smoked wings and good beer specials for the game. Great staff too.
Burgers: either Burger Stand or Dempseyās
Beer: Free State, Lawrence Brewing Co, or Merchant (happy hours are incredible, also a really good dinner spot)
BBQ: Biemerās on Iowa. I used to live about 2 minutes from there and it was dangerous.
@jayballer73 not so fast. Les still hasnāt made the decision yet. Drake from CU still in the mix.

We teach remedial classes in Math and English at KU.
Nope
Of course they do. https://catalog.ku.edu/arts/ ā
Any course below 100 at KU is remedial.
@Texas-Hawk-10 couldnāt agree more. I teach public policy at a higher ranked institution than KU and even my students come in without basic knowledge of our system of government. No idea what seperation of powers or federalism mean. Especially thinking through how to get from policy idea to implementation. I see things like āthe Supreme Court should do Xā having no idea what the Court can actually do (only rule on cases, nothing more).

MacVittie looks like a stud on film. Of course everyone does on their highlights. But he looks big and athletic. Would be happy landing him.
Be happy! He's ours.

@FarmerJayhawk As in he has a say, or input that can be ignored? Seems like heās run his course in Manhattan. Iād listen to what he has to say and do whatever I wanted, were I the AD. Or is Snyder the AD too?
I believe the language is āgive appropriate input on hiring the next coachā or something really similar. I think itās intentionally ambiguous. If he gets his way itāll be Leavitt. Sean isnāt interested.

Reports are coming in that former Colorado and Kentucky DC D.J. Eliot has been hired to be the DC here at Kansas. I don't think this is a big name hire and a lot of people are questioning it at this point. He really didn't do great at Colorado but he was solid in helping turn around Kentucky. I also think he inherits more talent at KU for next season than he had at Colorado, which we all know you can't win the Kentucky Derby on a donkey.
I think just because heās relatively anonymous. He does have a very impressive resume. Played at Wyoming, had stops at Texas State and Rice, then promoted to FSU, UK, and then CU all by age 40. We know heāll immediately be able to recruit Texas. Also a 3-4 guy, which you need to be in this conference now. I think itās a solid B hire, with potential to get better. His DL coach at CU is also from NOLA...
dylans said:
Why does it matter what Snyder wants? Dude was fired, regardless of the story the public was given.
Because itās in his contract that he gets input on the next coaching hire.

Baring something unforseen expect Kendall Briles to become FSU's new OC.
GROSS
As a strickly football hire its a homerun for FSU. He's a complete upgrade from Bell in terms of running the offense Taggart wants.
Of course there will be some PR to deal with here but he's twice removed from the Baylor situation. When your team becomes a piling steam of crap this is what you get sucked into, desperation over optics
Itās also FSU, so the fans wonāt care in the slightest about his past if they score a ton of points.

I think itās a great hire, I know they didnāt have a great season offensively compared to last season but they had to basically start over up front and still put up better numbers than we did playing in the best division in CFB. Iām being told that both Tony Hull and Clint Bowen are going to return as assistants, they both are currently out recruiting. I think everyone agrees Hull needs to stay and I know Bowen hasnāt done great at DC but I think heās a solid Safeties coach. He had a much better year this season than in the past. Iām fine with him remaining here just not as an DC.
Ugh. I want no part of Bowen staying. We can do better at literally any position on defense than him. I don't care if he loves KU. I also love KU but shouldn't be on the coaching staff.
CHANGE THE CULTURE.
Bowen has to go. Period.
He's not sticking around. Hasn't been recruiting at all since Miles got the job. Telling Hull has been on the trail.

Probably going to land Thomas MacVittle, a JuCo QB. #1 pro style JuCo QB per 247. I consider him more of a dual threat guy. VERY athletic for his size (6'5 230) and has been consistently clocked under 4.6.
I was hoping KU could get back in with Legendre but I would bet this JUCO kid is better than anybody KU has on the roster at QB.
They're in it with LeGendre. I don't think he'd be ready to go as a true freshman. Would be a stopgap kind of thing while we figure out of LeGendre can develop QB skills.

Going to be DJ Eliot as DC barring something weird happening at the last minute. Previous stops at Rice, FSU, Kentucky, and most recently was DC at Colorado.
Pretty sure Garber and Jax are going to be Jayhawks. The KSU situation is not great right now.
I think at least 3 pop this week. Maybe more if you include PWOās.
The next couple days are going to be fun, guys

I'm curious, is flipping commits a common acceptable practice in college football?
Yes. Totally different from basketball. A kid giving his verbal really only means youāre still in it until he signs his LOI. Itās fairly common for kids committed to one school flip to another on signing day. I remember one dude even having a signing ceremony and then faxed his letter to a different school. If folks think basketball is corrupt, my goodness.
Enaruna is a legit possibility.

The key with Chip Lindsey is whether he's bringing his offense, or if he's running Les Miles offense. Supposedly he requested his release from Auburn because of Malzahn meddling too much.
I would imagine he wouldn't take this job to run the Miles offense so I'm hoping we'll see a similar style offense to what he ran at Auburn which was a very high powered spread offense.
I bet we see what we did at Southern Miss with Monken. Wonāt be the Air Raid, but will be closer to traditional formations and balance. They had a wicked PA game.

Yessir. Barring a surprise change of heart on TNās end, should happen pretty quick.

Chip Kelly needs work. Lol
He just signed a huge deal at UCLA a year ago.
Tennessee is going with Freeze at OC. One fewer place looking at Lindsey.
Chip Lindsey (current Auburn OC) and Bo Pelini are names some are floating around. Lindsey has legs. I think people are just connecting dots with Bo. Heās out of work, Nubsās buyout is up, and he coached for Les at LSU.
Woodrow said:
@FarmerJayhawk did he schedule all his visits?

Tentatively yes. Same here. You generally want the first or last one.
February 2 for Hurtās visit, his last official.
