Starting Ochai is a reasonable thing, I agree. Although it might get in Grimes’ head, it just might serve as a swift kick in the behind. And I noticed Grimes last Saturday, while Ochai finished the game, didn’t he? HCBS says it’s not who starts, but who finishes?
@Kcmatt7 - that’s what this years team should have been. Seems like there’s always something, usually with a big man. Hoping SDS gets cleared this week. It will be interesting in the off season to see who declares for the draft, beginning as early as the day after the last game...

@justanotherfan - Your comment focused on Grimes' offense. IIRC, Bill pulls players just as quickly if they foul up on defense. I have seen only 3-4 games, so I don't have a handle on Grimes' defensive abilities. Can I get some comments on that, please?

It seems that short of individual team workouts, pro scouts have only last years combine and this years play upon which to base their draft position. If he goes pro, it will be Europe or D League. I can see him coming back to prove he can play a year without injury AND get a degree. We shall see before long. He may declare soon....
Ochai is a 6’5” guard, recovering from a stress fracture. I’m not thinking he will be much help.
Doke should at least be able to help coach Big Dave. That’s something...
@jayballer73 - if (IF!) Doke could get his free throw rate up significantly to say 75-80%, I’d have to think he’s a good NBA backup player. Even our beloved Embiid isn’t hanging around the 3 point line now but is playing more inside. I’d think he could find a niche to fill there, even if he doesn’t go in the first two rounds. And I think he’d kill it overseas somewhere.

@Crimsonorblue22 - I watched sporadically. WSU looked bad and got worse as the game went on. Impatient on offense, shooting early in the clock and failing to rebound. Weak defense. Not like the teams of a few years ago....
LA is a rough place to coach college basketball. The big $ and majority of fans follow Rams, Chargers, Dodgers, Lakers, Clippers and even pro soccer. Not much money left for average college teams. USC and UCLA football have alums that follow, but don’t know about the average fan, who generally prefers pro sports.
For instance, at Dodgers stadium a decent ticket can be had for $40-$50, but add $20 parking, $20 for soda and hot dog, $18 for a beer - you’re already around $100 per person. One game only. Pro football and basketball ball is much worse.
Bottom line is there are only so many $$$ to go around. I don’t see a lot of UCLA or USC gear being worn.
ISU is -1 at the moment.
KU is the only Big 12 home team to win tonight. The road to the championship will require others to hold serve, except against KU. Saturday will be interesting.

@Woodrow - I suppose we all know this, but lowest $ tickets at each of the other Big 12 games tonight are all $6.00. KU minimum tickets is $52. Per StubHub. There are some pretty good games for $6!
