@ralster I don't think this is 3 strikes on Bragg. He has been guilty of poor judgement with who he hangs out with...but he was absolved of wrong doing via the video. I think it is wrong for people to hold this against him as much as some are.

BAYLOR BEARS -WEDNESDAY - 8 P.M. - ESPN2 • Jan 31, 2017 12:41 AM

Baylor will get some points inside. If they are also hot from 3.........we could be in jeopardy of losing. Unless everything is clicking for them, or unless we have a down game.....we should win.

@Crimsonorblue22 Agree. Strike 1 and needs mentoring. Still have hope that he can do something good for the team and himself at some point.

Something in the Water? • Jan 29, 2017 02:42 PM

@wrwlumpy Yes, but KSU, TCU, and ISU did not do themselves any favors, as far as NCAA berths go, by losing. If one or more of them takes some lumps this last half of conference play they could be in trouble.

Dear Bill • Jan 29, 2017 02:38 PM

@BShark Yes......I was worried about their front line doing all the damage........as has happened a lot this year.

Take Aways • Jan 29, 2017 01:11 PM

My takeaway is that once again...........this team plays well enough to win.......no matter who we are playing.

What does this game mean? • Jan 29, 2017 01:00 PM

@wissox I noticed as well in the box score.....they played 8 and the 3 that played the least minutes played a similar amount of time to our 3 off the bench. Fortunately, we did not get in much foul trouble.

@truehawk93 Great movie references!

KU/KENTUCKY CHAT • Jan 29, 2017 01:33 AM

Huge win for confidence and for the quest for a #1 seed!

KU/KENTUCKY CHAT • Jan 29, 2017 01:28 AM

@HawkChamp Yes. Our experience paid off.

KU/KENTUCKY CHAT • Jan 29, 2017 01:27 AM

@KUSTEVE I'm in line to kiss the ring! You're driving the bus and I'm getting on board, bro!

KU/KENTUCKY CHAT • Jan 29, 2017 01:04 AM

10 pt lead. Bravo!

KU/KENTUCKY CHAT • Jan 29, 2017 12:49 AM

I like where we're at in this point of the game...just can't believe we have left Willis open so much.

KU/KENTUCKY CHAT • Jan 29, 2017 12:38 AM

Due to Willis....they are outscoring us from 3

Absolutely!

KU/KENTUCKY CHAT • Jan 29, 2017 12:11 AM

Yes. Frank go hammered. Would like to have gotten a bucket there. .....would have felt really good down 3. As it is, happy and lucky to be down 5 when we couldn't hit a 3..........we know that won't continue.
We got a decent shot here in the 2nd half.

KU/KENTUCKY CHAT • Jan 29, 2017 12:00 AM

Too many dumb turnovers. Can't hit any open 3s. We should be right in this game. Lucky to be as close as we are. Gives me hope for the 2nd half if we can keep it reasonable here for the last couple of minutes.

KU/KENTUCKY CHAT • Jan 28, 2017 11:49 PM

We are 0-5 from 3 with some wide open looks. Need to hit those to have a chance to win.

Who wins? - -Big 12/ Sec? • Jan 28, 2017 11:09 PM

Ugh. Big 12 down 3-4. Assuming Baylor wins, if we don't........will need TCU over Auburn to split the 10 games.

Bragg Suspended Again • Jan 28, 2017 10:23 PM

@globaljaybird You are correct..it was a different woman per the recent article. By
strikes I was referring to the concept of treating a player differently if he has done one thing wrong vs. if he has done 3 things wrong.

Bragg Suspended Again • Jan 28, 2017 08:48 PM

@globaljaybird I believe I read that it was the same female. Was not or should not have been arrested for either incident. I don't deny that he put himself in bad situations.. But that in and of itself does not count as one "strike" in my opinion.

Lightfoot Unleashed • Jan 28, 2017 08:45 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Agree. He has played some with Lucas. I think if he played a lot with Lucas we would see better results....but the way things have worked out.........we won't get that chance.

Lightfoot Unleashed • Jan 28, 2017 08:44 PM

@HawkChamp I think coaches would say that guys earn their playing time, in part, by what they do in practice. I agree that I would like to see what Coleby can do.....we will probably get our chance.

Lightfoot Unleashed • Jan 28, 2017 07:48 PM

@HawkChamp A lot of truth to what you say. Part of Bragg's issue is that he is a 4 being forced to play the 5.......Self has acknowledged that. I am surprised that Coleby has not received more chances. Of course, we don't know how he has looked in practice.

Bragg Suspended Again • Jan 28, 2017 07:46 PM

@globaljaybird I think you are being a bit harsh. But you are certainly entitled to your opinion. None of us know exactly what he has done recently and in the past. The previous suspension should not be held against him. Yes....he was not careful enough about who he got involved with. But both incidents appear.....we don't really know...appear to be caused by her. Now, we don't know what happened recently...but everyone should get a 2nd chance. Again...I don't know exactly what has occurred, but I don't think any of us know enough to even consider that it may be time to cut him loose. JMO.

Lightfoot Unleashed • Jan 28, 2017 07:41 PM

@HawkChamp I think recruiting a Lightfoot every year is fine. We wouldn't want a whole team of them. But, having recruited Lightfoot is not our problem this year.....Doke getting hurt and Bragg not developing as expected are our issues.....hard to predict both of those things happening.

Who wins? - -Big 12/ Sec? • Jan 28, 2017 07:38 PM

So far, KSU is not representing well.......they look bad.

Who wins? - -Big 12/ Sec? • Jan 28, 2017 05:54 PM

@time-to-rock-73 Your picks make sense. I think the B12 wins. I thought some of the matchups were kind of odd. Baylor / Ole Miss and Fla / OU seem to be mismatches. But there is a lot that goes into these matchups.

@Lulufulu Lose in the first round? You mean lose in the 2nd game to an 8/9 or a 7?
I would say if we don't improve we might be more likely to lose in the sweet 16.
But....I think we will improve........crossing my fingers.

Give Self an incentive • Jan 26, 2017 02:47 PM

@chriz Well, I thought the first few possessions where we switched to zone were very effective. Not sure how many. That is when we went ahead. But.......WVU certainly adjusted and had some successful offensive possessions. Then we just, in my mind, gave up.

Reality - and Gut - Check Time • Jan 25, 2017 09:23 PM

@KansasComet Absolutely. But what concerns me is the lack of defense this team has showed is still an issue. If we don't get it corrected, we will not be a Final Four and NC contender IMO. I think others would agree with me.
30 wins and a conference championship are everyone's goals........but so is a NC.
Will we improve our weaknesses enough to get there? Remains to be seen, but the longer we go without correcting the flaws, the more people worry.......which I think is understandable.

Reality - and Gut - Check Time • Jan 25, 2017 06:07 PM

@DCHawker Excellent points. There is no shame in losing at WVU, coached by, as someone pointed out, a HOF coach. The way we lost, and the fact that our defensive deficiencies still exist this late into the season, are a concern. WVU didn't beat us with their press.......they beat us by their guys beating our guys off the dribble, creating open shots and getting to the FT line. The opposition getting too many good looks at the basket, or layups, has been a constant this year, with a few exceptions. Of course, getting the home crowd energy, and the home crowed whistle........... both of which we get at AFH........are nothing new. It's just that the things that got us beat last night have existed for the entire season.
We all think they can do better.........remains to be seen if they will.

Lucas and Svi • Jan 25, 2017 06:00 PM

@BShark Geez, that's ridiculous.

Lucas and Svi • Jan 25, 2017 03:19 PM

@BShark Hate for Lightfoot? What did he do?

Lucas and Svi • Jan 25, 2017 12:50 PM

@stoptheflop I thought the crux of the loss was that their guys beat our guys off the ball and we couldn't do the same. It comes back to poor defense IMO. They got easy baskets and to the foul line. As god as Josh was offensively...........I thought he was really bad defensively. It seemed like his man got by him a lot. He wasn't alone, though. The loss is only one game........but the symptoms have always been there.
Did you see the same thing?

Did Mitch Light the match stick? • Jan 22, 2017 02:25 PM

@DoubleDD The way I see if he played a few minutes, didn't make any mistakes and had a nice tip in. That's all you could ask for at this point.

Have we seen this movie before? • Jan 22, 2017 02:08 AM

The good thing is....we are 18-1 and haven't played up to our potential........at all.
Hopefully we can peak at the right time..........

Have we seen this movie before? • Jan 21, 2017 11:35 PM

@HawkChamp I agree. I don't expect us to go 4-4. But I think we could and still win #13. A #1 seed might be at risk, though. If we hold serve at home (not a given by any means) and win either at KSU or Tech, we will have 2 conf. loses (even if we lose the next 2) with OSU Baylor and UT on the road left. Depending on how Baylor and WVU perform (obviously) I think we still have a decent chance for #13. I think the conference will be each other up. The key is holding serve at home and only lose one of the next 3 road conf. games.

@Crimsonorblue22 Didn't know about LL. Good for him to play as well as he did, then.

Consider these comments observations....not complaints.

It seems all of our conference home games have had a lot in common

1.We get off to a good solid start and open a lead or have a good lead early on

2.Lackadaisical or sloppy play leads to turnovers and other team gets back in the game.

3.We have a spurt or two to widen the lead

  1. 2 above happens again.

  2. Opposing big man has a career game.

  3. LL has a double double (OK...not this time...only in rebounds)

  4. Other team outplays us for long stretches of the game.

  5. Other team hits open outside shots (well...not this time...if they had...we might have lost)

  6. We leave the other team WFO for outside shots.

  7. Josh misses FTs that help to allow the other team to remain close..

  8. We fail to convert lobs (seems to be more and more often now)
    (OK, those 2 are complaints)

  9. The clock malfunctions to make it interesting (OK only today's game)

  10. We hit a couple of shots in the last 2 mins. to make it look easier than it was (ditto...only this game).

Summary: It is really great to be 18-1. It just seems like this team plays well enough to win. The win in Ames gives me hope that we can keep doing this.

The next 2 weeks will tell us a lot.

Trae Young • Jan 20, 2017 09:20 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Ideally, yes. But it seems most of these kids want to come in and fill an empty spot and play right away......the exception might be the Kentucky kids.

@BeddieKU23 That's what I would have thought with OSU........even though they are a different team completely.
Someone touched on it the other day, here, but it seems that...sometimes........and lately teams play free and easy in AFH...they have nothing to lose. As a result, they hit shots......KSU, OSU. Texas could do the same.........even though they don't shoot as well as we know.
But..........we are certainly over due for an easy win in AFH.

@jaybate-1.0 I could see 2 easy.....if there is 3.........then I'll believe your engineering theory.

@HawkChamp I remember Cole being a pretty important part of us pulling away. You are probably right that we win without him.....the problem is if you change one thing........or in this case several series where he made an impact......you never know.

Woodard • Jan 19, 2017 06:24 PM

@BeddieKU23 Yes. I am glad that we got the win in Norman when we did based on what I have seen from them since.

@jaybate-1.0 You summarized my fear come tourney time. I was glad you mentioned Cole in 2008....we do not have that guy this year.......unless Lightfoot or Coleby turns in such a performance in a pinch.

@Crimsonorblue22 That;s what I thought.......

@BShark Why is that? Injury? Ability? or Attitude?

Thoughts from the Game • Jan 17, 2017 03:09 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 That is the trade-off.
