Isn't it mostly mental at this point with Josh? He can hit them in practice, but in a game it's a different story. Sometimes he looks really uncomfortable up there.

I think Dad and the boys can say whatever they want ....UCLA can't comment on the players.
It worries me. I feel insecure with this team even though we only have 3 losses. We seem to play well enough to win. At Kentucky. Baylor at home. At ISU. At KSU. We have gotten it done.....just as well as most teams in the past. We just haven't had any easy wins at home in the conference..............that is highly unusual for us. And we had been playing with fire with some of the close wins at home.........we finally got burned at home by ISU's hot shooting.
I think that fact, along with the defense and front line concerns, are what has me worried about March.
But as pointed out...........all you need to do in March is survive and advance. We have done a good job with that so far.......
@jayballer54 I really like when Frank did that. In fact, I have seen many times when we are in a tight game at AFH and opponents have done that when going down the court after hitting a 3......doesn't bother me a bit. Actually...I think it's kind of cool.....
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes, I hope they both lose........but hopefully we will hang one more L on WVU next week. At Baylor next Saturday as well.........but a little help would be nice.

@kjayhawks I said yesterday that if I were Self I would tell JJ he only dunks with two hands.......he has missed too many one handers that I believe he would have made if he uses 2 hands.
@kjayhawks There was always the belief that the 04-05 team had chemistry issues. In fact, one of the guys had said that some guys on that team didn't like others.

@Fightsongwriter Perhaps we only lose at Baylor. Worried about that game in Stillwater, though. Let's not share the title and get a #1 seed. But boy, we need to play better defense to do that.

Yesterday I look at as no blood. The 3 leaders lost at home. I can see 5 losses at least sharing the crown. We have tomorrow's game, at Baylor, at OSU and WVU at home as the toughest games. Of course at UT and at Tech are always potential pitfalls.
Baylor has at OSU, at ISU, and WVU and us at home. WVU has our game as the toughest one. Their schedule is not bad the rest of the way.
ISU has at KSU and at WVU.
Winning tomorrow would go a long ways and give us some room for slip ups along the way.
However,if we lose.........I still like our chances. The margin for error just gets thinner.

No....probably not a good idea in their place.
Oh well.... maybe when the fans do that bobbing back and forth thing, you can see a couple of them smack their coconuts together........
@KUSTEVE We usually bounce back pretty well from losses........so I believe we will see a better defensive effort. I have a feeling about a win as well.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes the turnovers in general....but especially those strips were frustrating. The Star showed replays of some of those 3s.....Josh just not paying attention or not hustling on a couple of Burton 3s. And in OT when Jackson made that last 3....Svi was simply ball watching and lost his man....really poor defense and attention to detail.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Never mind. I checked. ISU and WVU were almost identical. I'm surprised.Maybe that's good......today was more of an anomaly than I thought. Chances are it might not happen again. Or......due to our poor defense. Crap.

WVU about to lose to the Pokes. Who would have thought that? The top 3 teams in the conference lose to unranked opponents at home. That is unbelievable.
I have to fight the temptation to think...........Gee if we had won.......look at how pretty we would be sitting. But the way it turns out.........we are no worse off, in theory, than when we all woke up this morning.
Sure helps ISU,KSU, and OSU tourney hopes. ISU is now tied for 3rd. Wow.
@drgnslayr At least WVU is not a good shooting team from 3....I think they will have to be really hot to beat us in AFH.
@HawkChamp I thought we played well in the first half. 2nd half...I agree with your comments.
@drgnslayr I would disagree to a point. I thought they hit some guarded shots.........can't say how many without re-watching. The first ones that come to mind are the step back 3 (Long, I think) and Morris' step back 2 in OT. I think Burton hit a couple of highly contested 3s as well. But you are right.........they had too many open 3s.......I was screaming at the TV on those.

@BeddieKU23 Wow. That's some analysis. Agree that on paper (with certain assumptions) Baylor and WVU are up there.........but I would put us right there with them. Self has proven that he can deliver late in the recruiting game.
But if the above scenario happens with us.........and your assumptions are logical, but who knows....we will be unproven.

@drgnslayr I agree that we could win there........our track record in Waco is good. Perhaps the pressure on them that you suggested is part of the reason.
I think if we don't beat them, someone else will. They still have to go to OSU, Tech, ISU, and UT. They'll slip up on e of those places. Or perhaps WVU at home. I'm not sure Waco is that great of a home court advantage.
I think 15-3 gets us a share. But any more than that and we might be in trouble.
@time-to-rock-73 Most of the "experts" would agree that every team........at least those that draw a lot of fans......... gets the "home whistle". We're no different than anyone else in that regard.
@nuleafjhawk I understand your point about Bragg....but I don't see having him back would be a bad thing........in fact I think there are only positives to come out of getting him back. If he doesn't perform...he won't play much. I have a hard time believing that he won't bring anything to the table going forward.
I can see him playing in the middle of that zone in Waco and hitting a couple of key shots, for instance.
Agree for sure on JJ...he has really stepped up! I was really impressed by our defense down the stretch, and in particular that last Baylor possession. There certainly was a big foul disparity. The guys that went to the line were Frank and Josh...can you really say any of those were questionable? Well the one where Josh lost the ball going in for a layup.......... looks like they might have missed that one.
Someone mentioned on another thread that this was a great win........but we held serve. I agree. I always look at the season as how we have done vs. the competition for the crown (in this case Baylor, and...maybe WVU) in the tougher games. I.E...we both lost at WVU...we're even there. We have won at ISU and Baylor still has to go there, etc.
Don't forget........we have done pretty well in Waco in the past. But as they say with investing......past performance does not guarantee future results.

@drgnslayr I am hoping we will be fired up and ready for a little revenge when WVU travels to the Phog. So I would have said that KSU and both Baylor games would be tougher........but we shall see.
Well, no surprise. Speeds up the process, and potentially allows him to play. If that is what the Admin. and Self want to do, of course.
@Statmachine Self usually does OK late in the year. One issue this year, I have to believe, is that there were so many uncertainties........Graham, Svi, Bragg. That can make it difficult vs. a team that can promise available playing time based on need.
