where was the foul?
@BShark thanks
@BShark typical Kenstinky homers
@wissox yep. They fattened up on cupcakes and got away with just running every game and didn't have to play in the half court. Kentucky has a hard time scoring in the half court and UCLA didn't allow them to run.
@BShark lol
UCLA can really shoot
@BeddieKU23 yep
Huge 3 by Ball
got to guard Monk!!
@kjayhawks yep. becoming stagnate
UCLA reminds me of Wisconsin from a couple years ago. So smart offensively
Kentucky would be down 15 or more if not for being at home. Different team when playing in the half court
Regardless of this game, UCLA is definitely a title contender this year
up 13 now. wow
UCLA looking good right now. Up 9
@kjayhawks except for Faylor, yes the Big 12 is down. To ensure a number one seed, I think two losses in conference would keep us in contention. Faylor will be the toughest
@kjayhawks Haase hasn't proven himself yet. If he makes a few sweet sixteen and elite eights then yes. Otherwise, look at Tony Bennet, Jay Wright, etc
@Kcmatt7 you don't have to agree, but the fact that he CAN do it is reason enough that he should keep doing it in games. To be effective against real big men, you can't rely on just dunking - you have to be able to score with a hook shot or spin moves. I don't care that his accuracy is low - that's why he is getting minutes so that he CAN work on it in a real game situation. Watch Kennedy Meeks to see what I'm talking about
@BeddieKU23 yes he has made numerous hook shots
@BeddieKU23 really? Dok never attempts back to the basket moves? No running hook shots or spin moves? Hmm, interesting
@Crimsonorblue22 Villanova and OH were successful with little post scoring last year. Once again, Udoka has to get more touches on the block
Main thing for this team to improve is turnovers. They can be so sloppy at times
@kjayhawks he has a lot of potential
@BShark yes, that would be the only time fouling would be advantageous
@BeddieKU23 I'm not - wish we had the Landen from last March
@BShark fouling is a strategy but not a good one because it can put the other team in the bonus sooner. Can't do it frequently if at all
How do we look? I might not be able to watch tonight
@justanotherfan I think Udoka will be the best player next year and potential first team all american
@BigBad that's why getting Dok game experience is so important. He has the talent to be a consistent low post scorer that can put KU in the title conversation. Would be nice if Landon and Carlton came around sometime....
@BShark that's what I don't understand - if his health is the reason for the poor play, why not rest him a few games? Did we really need him on Friday?
@justanotherfan Baylor is definitely a legit final four contendor, though I would argue the 2009-10 Baylor team with Ekpe Udoh, Lacedarius Dunn and Tweety Carter was his best.
@BeddieKU23 I agree - it is weird why he hasn't made any adjustments. Game after game he is making the same silly fouls.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I disagree but we will see
@Texas-Hawk-10 replace OSU with the cryclones and those will probably be the top four teams
@BeddieKU23 Burton is a tough one. Probably Josh and Svi will have that responsibility. The keys are guarding the three point line (without overhelping on drives) and rebounding. I'm ready to end our losing streak at ISU
@Fightsongwriter he really is a different player than lat year - not sure if the injury affects not being able to grab the ball. I like what I'm seeing out of Dok and Coleby. Contrary to what some say on other sites, Udoka needs to be the main post threat later in the season. Landon and Carlton just don't fit as well as and can't hang on to the ball. There will most likely be some growing pains and struggles, but that experience on the court is vital for success later on.
Down go the Cryowa state Cryclones
Iowa State shooting themselves out of the game
@ralster right - the common denominator amongst those examples is Self's system. If you are going to get a bunch of OADs, then simplify the playbook like Calipari.
@JayHawkFanToo true except for WVU losing to Temple
Yep - Gonzaga keeps turning it over. Not convinced that Gonzaga is that good this year
North Carolina looks really good right now. But as we all know, looking good now means squat for making a March run. Example: our 2011-12 team was playing pretty poorly in November and December but improved throughout the year and made a run in March. I wouldn't want to be in North Carolina's region though - that's why a one seed is so important.
@wrwlumpy our upcoming schedule should help them get back in the groove.
@jayballer54 we don't play them for another two months or so. He has time to improve
@BeddieKU23 how many times have we seen someone like Perry, Landon or Carlton leave puts on the floor because they try to gently lay the ball in? So frustrating when they're two feet from the basket and 6'10
@Crimsonorblue22 that's what we have been wanting from Coach. Learning on the court trumps learning on the bench. That is why we have non conference schedule with some easier games for the freshman to get up to speed. Will hopefully pay huge dividends in March.
@wissox Agreed about Dok's dunks, but his post game is coming around. IMO, he needs to start from here on out and get as much experience/reps as possible to prepare for March.
Our guards were really good again tonight. Besides a couple nitpicky things, could they really do much better?
I think losing their starting spots should be the best motivation for them. But long term, Udoka should be starting and I hope Bill sees that. A more seasoned Udoka can go against any big guy out there. Reminds me of the Joel/Tarik situation a few years ago
@jaybate-1.0 except for a couple bad passes, I thought Svi played very well. I really like the one on one defense he is playing right now.
@jaybate-1.0 you must have missed Dok' s b2b move earlier
