Do not count Frank out. The one thing we know id that his determination knows no limits and the NBA is not out of the question. Isaiah Thomas of the Celtics is 5'-9" and one of the better players in the League and Frank's game is not that different and he is slightly taller.
When I first submitted it it was not there but now, after I finally gave up and allowed the push notifications, it shows up...go figure.
Let's be careful with what we say. One of the individuals at the center of the scandal worked with Coach Williams at KU and went to UNC with him. I really don't know that anything like this happened at KU, but what is there to stop him from offering to throw KU under the bus with false allegations in exchange for leniency for himself and UNC? The NCAA is really not a friend of KU and they would jump to the chance of going after a program as big as KU.
OK. I pasted an image and it displayed correctly on the right display panel but when I submitted the post the image did not display. Also, I don't see an "Edit" option which was handy when posting from pads and cells since the auto correct sometimes does crazy changes.
I keep getting these push notifications every time I go to a new thread. I have followed the directions to disable them, closed Firefox completely and restarted it with no luck.

Kanter is a graduate transfer who averaged 11 points and 6 rebounds in 19 minutes per game at Wisconsin Green Bay. If 19 mpg is all he could get at WGB then I am not sure how good he would be at KU; I think I would prefer Juiston.
Fortunately now he has several players to pick from depending on whether he wants to go big, small, fast or a combination. Heck, he now has enough players to press like West Virginia. Wouldn't it be a hoot if he unleashes a full court press on West Virginia the entire game? Huggy's pacer would go on overdrive.
Hopefully Newman can pick up the slack since he will likely be playing PG if he wants to go to the NBA, Garret played PG in HS and in a pinch, he can probably play some PG as well.
Scholarships are only for one year and walk-ons are given schoolies if they are available. Remember, players like Teahan, and Moody moved from walk-ons to full scholarship, Wesley switched back and forth depending on availability.
Can you imagine the speed of a Golden State like small team with Graham, Newman, Duval, Vick and Svi with Cunlife and Garrett coming off the bench? And then throw a team with Doke and Preston just to mess with the other team?
Looks like KU is in good shape not only y for the upcoming season but for the next 2 or 3 years as well. KU went from a question mark to having more players than it knows what to do with...a good problem to have.
Yes they are but I believe they were on full scholarship last season. Like I said, I would think there are legal means of moving them to financial aid packages that would be pretty comparable.
I agree. Bette chance of Lightfoot taking a red shirt year than leaving the program. How much he develops in the off-season will probably dictate where he stands.
Svi had a solid junior year and I am expecting him to have an even better senior year. Senior Svi is likely better than any freshman KU can get.
These are the players the KU site list for the 2017-2018 season. Notice that Josh Jackson is not listed, This is 12 players not counting the Lawsons. te program is limited to 13 basketball scholarships per year, so KU is 1 over the limit, assuming Svi Comes back.
They do not necessarily have to have scholarships, they can go on sort of financial aid package, right? I am sure KU can be very creative and shift scholarships around including placing the walk-on players on financial aid packages...money is definitely not a problem since the program has a large surplus.
On the other hand, we have not heard anything negative either. Is this a case where no news is good news?
Kevin Knox visited Columbia and MU is going strong after Tilmon. If both sign with MU, it's class will challenge U.K. The entire saga at MU stinks to high heaven; something really fishy going on. I bet even Calipari is wondering what is going on in Columbia.
I agree. The tournament was a NBA audition for Devonte and he passed with flying colors against MSU and Purdue but crashed and burned against Oregon. Had he had good games and continued playing well and KU made it to the finals, Devonte would have likely moved up to the top of second or bottom of first round and we are not having this conversation.
Let's not forget that Mason was a volume shooter and scorer in HS and had to change his MO and buy into Coach Self's system. It worked out well for Frank.π
Much like great players, great coaches don't need luck...they make their own luck.π
A senior Graham is better than any OAD. Svi has dropped off many mock drafts and short of playing in Europe his path to the NBA appears limited now. Next year's draft is heavy on bigs and he would be better off waiting Since he still is pretty young. After 3 years I would think that his parents would prefer he stays in school one extra year and gets his degree.
Graham, Newman, Vick and Svi all have the potential to be the best player for KU. The question is who will step up and take over.
Motley was an All-American and just won the Karl Malone award as the top forward over Markhanen, Swanigan and TJ Leaf, a season that would be hard to duplicate, and next year's draft is loaded with power forwards. If Giles can go to the draft, then Motley is a shoe in.
RODNEY...my favorite comedian...
Ughhhh....There is no way I can unsee that...
I posted the same thing on the another thread and I also wrote...
What is funny is that his son was the only one that looked slow, getting destroyed off the dribble for 39 by Fox. What is he going to do when his son gets knocked on his ass on a hard foul in the NBAβ¦is he going to cry racism? Unbelievable.
Yes, when he is proven not to be as good as daddy Ball thinks he is, he is going to cry racism, no question about it.
All I am going to say is that you need to watch more NBA games. People use a stereotype of the League that is dated and no longer correct. If you watch the NBA you will see the incredible talent, how much defense is now played and the offense is now perimeter centered with the 3 being the preferred weapon thanks to the GS Warriors; this last part I am not too crazy about....and yes, star players still get preferential treatment.
From Billy Joel - Keeping The Faith
You can get just so much
From a good thing
You can linger too long in your dreams
Say goodbye to the oldies but goodies
Cause the good ole days weren't always good
And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems
Like Billy Joel said, the NBA was not always as good as we remember it. Again, watch some games, I think you will be surprised.
The Big East members are all Catholic schools which is the reason they separated in the first place; also, they do not compete in football. UConn is not a Catholic School and does have a football program so the chances are slim to none, Dayton, a Catholic basketball school that has been very successful lately is probably a more likely candidate.
LOL , fixed. Not enough coffee or auto correct; at my age hard to tell.
Cool pics. Given that Mason has won every other POY award already, it would be logical to assume that he will get the Wooden award as well. It would be difficult to justify giving it to anyone else since it would be contrary to what every other basketball organization believes.
I can see Ball having a very remote chance since he is from California, where the award will be presented by the Los Angeles Athletic Club and the award is named after Wooden coached at UCLA where Ball played. Of course, after the latest comments by daddy Ball whatever good will was left is probably now gone. He said that...UCLA had too many white guys with slow speed to win title... β You can't make this stuff up. What is funny is that his son was the only one that looked slow, getting destroyed off the dribble for 39 by Fox. What is he going to do when his son gets knocked on his ass on a hard foul in the NBA...is he going to cry racism? Unbelievable.
I am not asking to ban parent for working because they raised a recruit, no one can do that, period. What I am saying is ban or at least restrict parents from peddling their kids to whoever gives the parent a job.
The Porter dad was an assistant coach for the women's basketball team at MU where his sister is the HC and his daughter plays. The sister was better qualified to go to Washington but she did not have two talented kids. He was given a $300K per year contract at Washington by Lorenzo Romar, who I understand is the godfather to one of the kids, and the kids committed to Washington shortly after. Then, Romar is fired, dad Porter is told his contract will not be renewed so he bolts for MU to be an assistant to new Coach Martin and his kids follow him there.
The entire saga has nepotism and quid pro quo written all over it.
No chance of that happening. Kansas has a very limited clout and the NCAA would move the games from Wichita in no time flat.
Certainly puts things in perspective. Jamari came from a somewhat similar background and, even if he never plays ball again, now he has a degree that will allow him to become a contributing member of society; a very positive outcome.
I would think that it might be...Up to this year's wins...since the conference is still being paid from previous WSU appearances in the Tournament and will continue getting paid for six years for this year's tournament wins which will likely be forfeited. I really don't know and all of this will soon become clearer.
Even if nothing changes we still have an excellent platform.
We really know little to nothing of whats transpires behind closed doors. Maybe some day we will know...the rest of the story...as Paul Harvey would have said.
The NCAA has a somewhat complex way of paying for Tournament wins β assigning units for every win that is then paid over a 6 year period to the conference which then metes out the money, some equally and some others more to the team that earned the wins/money. I believe that currently each unit is worth around $1,5M.
So, the NCAA will continue paying over the next 6 years for wins in the last tournament and it is still paying for wins five years ago. Considering how successful WSU has been recently, it is possible that is leaving a fair chunk of change for past wins and future payouts. I am sure reporter(s) more knowledgeable on the subject will run the calculations if the move goes through.
Wife and 3 kids.
Your thread and you and @BeddieKU23 and a couple of other posters seem to have the most information and the rest of us, less informed posters, just soak it in.
he still is fairly young, 37 I believe? So he still has plenty of time to move up.
Lost in the 70's today...
Thread getting long again...maybe time for...Recruiting Master Thread Part Trois?
Spot on. Washington with all his highly rated recruits was still a bottom feeder in the PAC 12 and Martin, also with good players, was an also run in the same Conference. No reason to think MU will improve enough in one year to contend in the SEC and then the window of opportunity closes and in 3 years Martin leaves.
I imagine that is a very trying experience that stays around for long time. I asked the exact same question before and I seem to recall there was a good explanation and I believe what you mentioned could have been part of it but I do not recall if there was more to it
LOL to That. I guess we could add Lafayette Norwood to that list, for those who remember that far back. The Porter hire makes KU's hires look like the work of amateurs. At least KU got 4 years form Manning and Valentine and 3 from Chalmers and they were not shopped to the highest bidder.
But he was a D-1 assistant coach at Wake Forest, which as a member of the ACC would be considered, not necessarily an elite, but a big time program, don't you think? Like I said, I am not sure one way or the other, but I do believe being close to home and KU might have played a part...maybe an assistant coach position at KU down the road?
