That is so wrong in so many levels...:(
I don't believe that it is a complete list, on the other hand, other than his immediate family why would he take a chance when his position and salary put him at the top of exposure?
After going over the available information, I cannot think of anyone that he would take the fall for. Is it possible? Of course it is; is it probable? most likely not. Again, this is just my opinion based on the very limited information available. Maybe more information will become available in time that will change the perception, but at this time I believe we have seen as much as we will ever see.
I get the impression that Coach Self has soft spot for Jerrance, a former player, in the same way that he has soft spot for Jamari.
Post Deleted at HEM's request.
Lately, Selden has been hitting 3s at the most opportune times; hopefully he continues that streak...
I absolutely agree. You need to have a complete game and not be one dimensional. Look what happened in the second half of the OSU game, they got on the face of our 3 point shooters and our 3 point shooting went south. Regardless how well you scheme to open up the 3 point game, there is another team on the court scheming to deny it...and most teams in the Big 12 are really good.
Selden made a critical 3 to bring KU within 6 and Oubre followed with another 3 to make it a 3 point game; IMHO, that was the turning point of the game.
I have been saying all along that Coach Self wanting to improve the inside game was the right thing to do, particularly when the 3-pt shooting goes south. If you take Oubre's shooting out, the rest of the team shot 2-12 from 3...thank God (and Coach Self) the inside game worked well and saved the day.
Oubre had great day and so did the much maligned Perry, Selden and Lucas. Except for the first 10 minutes of the game, KU played a solid even when unspectacular game. Its is so sweeeeeeet to win the ones that look like loses.
Baylor only played 8 players, one played just a few seconds when Medford fouled out.. 6 players used up 188 of the 200 minutes or 94% or available playing time.; that is one short bench...
No question that the inside (non 3-point) scoring saved the day.
Fixed it again...
Edited my post with stats for both teams...:)
No question Lucas contributed big today.
Most of us do. I don't get why some posters have the need to criticize and second guess everything he does, even with all the success he has had...do they really thing they know more than Coach Self? Wouldn't that be the epitome of arrogance...and... insecurity?
I recorded it, Now I need to figure out a way to get the video from the cable box to my computer for editing and getting clips.
ROTFLMAO!!!
Perry had a strong game as well. If you take out Oubres numbers, the rest of the team shot 2-12 from 3 point. Coach Self looks like genius now wanting to improve the inside game for those times -like today- when the 3 is not falling. I wonder how the Coach Self's critics will spin this game.
I have called on Jesse a few times to justify Pomeroy's rankings and he did not reply. Cannot really justify it when KenPom is at odds with just about every other human and computer generated ranking out there.
UVA outscored WF by 12 in the second half and won the game.
Pomeroy had OU and Baylor ranked ahead of KU...
Have you noticed that writers that used to cite his rankings no longer do it? They just cite some his number but avoid his rankings like the plague.
I call them gigantic glow-in-the-dark condoms...:)
A lot of people, once the hit the big time become too full of themselves and forget the past. Gotlieb and Ken Pomeroy are good examples. Dougie used to be be a a fairly decent commentator with decent conference knowledge, but the better known he became the bigger a-hole and homer he turned out to be. The pants backwards episode at AFH will always follow him and he will always resent KU undeservedly for that.
Yeap, expelled from Notre Dame...
Who do you think he could possibly take a fall for? His kids are very young and even then, as minors any record they would be confidential and eventually expunged.
Because of his high exposure position, I cannot think of any one that would be at similar risk; if his wife works in the private sector, this would not even be an issue unless she has job that requires government clearance, other than that, who do you have in mind that lives in Peoria?...BTW, if i remember correctly...didn't you hint at one time that you lived there? Come on Jaybate, did he take a fall for you?
Drew CANNOT possibly be satisfied with this game. He was completely out-coached the second part of the first half and the second half. Dougie really lives in a "backwards" world.
I laundered my KU sweat pants that I usually wear for KU games, bad idea...they came out smelling funny anyway, so I will change into a different pair. Keeping fingers crossed.
LePeep and First Watch are popular in Johnson County. Places like Granite City and Nick and Jake's have very nice Sunday and Special occasion buffets. IHOP, Perkins and Denny's are old standards that usually are pretty decent.
Tim Jankovich at $700K is the highest paid Assistant Coach in college basketball and this is due to his position as Head Coach-in-waiting. Before that it was Dalonte Hill at KSU that brought ( many would say he "bought" ) all those DC players to KSU before moving to Maryland; no other Assistant or Specialty Coach makes even close to that...most Division I Head Coaches don't make that much money. No way Lucas would consider taking a position for that money.
The "fact" that pot works better than legal medication is a red herring. I have seen program after program where pot advocates were paired with real doctors and there was not one example pot advocates could show where legal medication did not work as well or better than pot. I have a friend that smoked pot for pain control and he said point blank that there was medication that he could use that worked as well or better but did not have the "side effect" of pot that the enjoyed greatly. Let's face it, a lot of the people that use pot for "medicinal" purposes due it as much for the "other" effect than for the primary purpose. I will qualify my comments by saying that I have never used pain control medication or pot myself so I don't have first hand only anecdotal.experience.
The Governor of Colorado is on the record saying:
“If I could've waved a wand the day after the election, I would've reversed the election. This was a bad idea,”
So much for that...
Interesting. Don't most players wear shoes that go higher (high top style) and protect the ankle? Also, looks like the heel adds at least one inch and maybe more.
KU by 8-10...
Like @Crimsonorblue22 said...not much defense but he did have a great block on Oladipo.
Bon Jovi is on TNT playing at the ASG festivities at Barclays Center
Several players had good games but Wigs was the best. Interesting note, the Wolves had 4 players in the game, two for each team...talk about a good future potential.
Lucas HC record in the NBA is not good ( 174-258 ). I believe he has found a niche working with athletes with addiction and apparently he is better at that than coaching. At 61, he is also almost 10 years older than Coach Self so his coaching future is very limited.
My hope is that by the time Coach Self is ready to retire Brad Stevens is ready to come back to college and KU is able to get him; he is only 38 years old. Tony Bennett would also be a good pick but I believe he is building a great program at Virginia and would be difficult to get him to go anywhere; he is 46 years old.
Will that be the "Cools Runnings" basketball version?
Now I am getting nostalgic...:(
Sorry, long, long day...which thread are we on?
Oh yes,...
One toke over the line, sweet Jesus
One toke over the line
Sitting downtown in a railway station
One toke over the line
Liked the music...never did any drugs...not even pot.
Experience is simply the name we give our mistakeas - Oscar Wilde
We get to enjoy Bon Jovi...I think...
Groovy...I had not heard that term in a while....:)
I saw that. Oladipo tried every which way to fake Wigs out only to have his shot blocked.
Me too. Not much defense and lots of dunks.
...and at 11:59 AM Central time delivering the response and opposing view...
drum roll...
From KUBuckets....HHHHHEEEEEMMMMM!!!
Interesting. I was visiting with a friend that works in HR and she indicated that depending on how his contract is written and who the contract is with, KU/AD might not be able to fire him...even if they wanted to. If he was fired, he could sue the KU/AD under the ADA since drug dependency can now be consider a "disability" and KU's only recourse would b to send him to rehab (at KU's expense. of curse) a few times before he can be fired...whatever happened to personal responsibility? It would certainty explain the relatively light punishment; certainly much cheaper than the alternative plus it gets the issue off the front pages and spares the program from further embarrassment.
Here is link ↗to the programs he offers and the only one for college players is the pre-draft program. Not really that important.
He has a huge business not only with his training programs but also with the Great Oaks Recovery Center ↗ and he really has his hands full. There is no way KU can provide the facilities he would need and some of his programs would be in direct competition with Coach Self's own camps. Also, I am not sure it would be allowed by the NCAA or the University of Kansas (it is a state organization after all); Cole Aldrich conducts camps in the Summer and they are not at KU but at High School in Johnson County (Olathe); one would think that he would have one at KU if he was allowed. Maybe someone else could chime in with more information on the subject???
Very interesting reading...I still remember the years when dunking was not allowed. Also, after the dunk was re-introduced, dunking was not allowed during warm up and I remember a game where refs counted 13 dunks during the warm ups and the the game started with the other team shooting 13 technical FTs....ah...the good old days....
