ND St lost by 18 to #10 Arkansas in their opener (76-58).
They were led by Grant Nelson & Boden Skunberg who scored 17 a piece. I remember Nelson, he made an impact in that game 2 years ago as a freshman. He's going to test our young frontcourt. Skunberg (what a last name) is not an efficient scoring guard & I think a guy named Kevin McCullar will have that matchup on lockdown.
Very young team, no Seniors on the roster.
Expecting a comfy win. Perhaps we see some MJ Rice today?? What do we want to see today?
It's going to take time to see a cohesive effort. Solving the 5 riddle would help. KJ is stopgap only. I say we throw in Udeh from the git go, and get him some on the job training. I'd like to see us press them from the opening tip, and give Dook something to work on. As much as I was pulling for Joe, I think the team looked much better with Bobby on the court. Hoping they bump Bobby's minutes- he has nice scoring ability, and always puts pressure on the defense. McCullars sparked a big run last game, but I thot he deferred too much at the start of the game. I hope we get him turned up from the git.
USC gets manhandled by Enfield's old school FGCU by 13. Sam Houston beats OU on a last second shot. TCU barely gets by Ark Pine Bluff by 1.
Unsung hero is KJ Adams. He did a lot of really good things last night. Not only did he rebound very well, he kept numerous possessions alive with his hustle. Now, he will be replaced in the lineup soon ( hopefully by Udeh), but he'll find minutes every game. He needs to work on that shot!
Pettiford looked quicker, lighter on his feet. He is just scratching the surface. Don't know if we get the Pettiford breakout this year or next, but it should be spectacular.

This might be Bobby's best offensive game yet. I don't see how they can keep him off the court playing like that. He was brilliant. And if he starts hitting that 3 ball consistently....

Jinx. I thot the same thing. On another subject, kudos to Fox Sports and the Big East. They are cutting from one Big East opener to the next, as they cover the WHOLE CONFERENCE at the same time. They also have a studio full of talking heads providing analysis of the games- it's freaking amazing. I cannot wait until Fox gets ahold of the B12- it will be epic.

The kid is a star, and has incredible skills. I wish the best for him. However, I'm relieved he won't be playing for us in his 1 year of college basketball before he goes to the NBA. I kept thinking how is Mikey and his 2 million Instagram and celebrity followers going to take it when Bill sits him on the bench for not playing defense?Are LeBron or KD going to speak out questioning Coach's decisions? Hell, KD demanded the Nets fire their coach and they did! And how teachable is a multi-millionaire kid who is basically going to be playing out the string for a year before he goes to the NBA? What if Elmarko comes in and beats him out ( similar to DD and Quentin Grimes ), are we going to hear criticism about Coach from NBA players, and those 2 million followers?
Coach is the best in the business. Premium, elite coach. Always has been- always will be. But that doesn't mean he's easy to play for. He rides players all the time. Most of the time, it's very effective. We've seen him bench people 100 times- we've seen him play lesser athletic players over better athletes (Mitch) because of the buy in by the player. Is a millionaire kid going to give it his all, bleed crimson and blue for KU - even when the coach is yelling at him, benching him, and messing with him for the 1 year he will be in college?
Like I said, I wish Mikey the best. I hope it works out for him better than some of the other stars Penny has signed. I think it had the potential to be a disaster if he signed here- feel free to disagree.

The difference between a marketing B12 commissioner and a caretaker commissioner will be stark. I think we'll see the B12 in a lot of areas that would've been unthinkable a few years ago. Gonzaga is one example- it wouldn't have even been considered under Bowlsby.
I think Udeh wins the 5 mystery. I hope he gets 20+ min from here on out.

Juando did up his offensive game- he took 6 shots tonite. I thought he could've penetrated the defense more, but can't argue about 10 assists.
Jalen missed a few layups. 9 for 17 is acceptable, though.
McCullars fits right in.

Joe shows he isn't ready for prime time. If Joe's mind could overcome his fear, I think he could be a pretty good player. 1 for 7 isn't going to get you alot of playing time.

1st of all you would have your fans of these Schools Baylor - - Gonzaga - - Ku - -Texas Tech - - Houston. Then even for the Casual Basketball junkie that just enjoys being able to kick back and watch some really good ball from the Nations top Conference - -it would be rocking. - -would be a huge pick up
It also makes me think that Oregon St and Washington are being considered as well as the 4 corners.
