New 2019 Recruiting • Oct 21, 2018 12:37 AM

@BShark I would think KJ and Mac would be our starting frontline. We'll have Dotson, Garrett, Charlie, Agbaji, Braun in the back court, with Mac, KJ, and Lightfoot up front. Unless KJ goes pro.

Question: What do YOU want KU to do? • Oct 20, 2018 10:56 PM

@HighEliteMajor The big difference is he is a KU fan, so he probably is hoping for the best. You're a KU critic, so you're hoping for the worst.

Question: What do YOU want KU to do? • Oct 19, 2018 03:43 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Because it will become stunningly obvious that Nike has bought a federal investigation to eliminate all their competition when absolutely nothing is done about the information that came out about Zion and Dook. To stay with Adidas is to be regularly investigated, castigated, and sullied to the point we won't be able to recruit anyone.

Question: What do YOU want KU to do? • Oct 19, 2018 02:02 PM

@Woodrow Drop Adidas, and get Nike. Hire Jeff Capel as recruiting coordinator. This will eliminate all FBI investigations, and allow us to be given Top 5 talent every year.

Duke/Capel • Oct 19, 2018 01:19 PM

The system has been corrupt for 60 years. That doesn't excuse Kurt's sleazy fixer verbiage, and casts doubt on Bill as well. Myself, I would prefer we pass by the Prestons, Alexanders, and Selbys anyway. If the FBI is truly trying to "get to the truth", then they will immediately open a new investigation into NIKE and Dook. But they won't, because this is about destroying Adidas, and the universities that are contracted with them, building up Nike,and has absolutely nothing to do with cleaning up the sport.

The Disappointment. • Oct 17, 2018 12:10 PM

@HighEliteMajor Suck it up, Buttercup. When you run the Missourah ( KU is evil) NPC meme, you're going to take some hits. Appreciate all of your pre-season analysis concerning the team, btw....Oh wait...you didn't find anything compelling enough to comment this year until now. It appears you seem more giddy about Self being in trouble than you are with this year's team. Maybe if you popped in every once in a while, and gave us your take on who you think the team's cancer will be this year, it wouldn't appear like you popped in after 6 months to simply bash the coach. Not even one comment about Late Night, and now a novel about your evil nemesis, Coach Self. A new member thought your latest coach bash was a parody, so I simply tried to give him some background, if you will. I'm sorry if my comment has driven you to the brink of insanity, but as you are so fond of saying.... " everybody has the right to their own opinion".

The Disappointment. • Oct 17, 2018 01:00 AM

@Woodrow This isn't a fascist website, like Fakebook, Youtube and Twitter. We don't delete differing opinions on Buckets. We allow practically every knee jerk reaction you could imagine, from fools naming Malik Newman as a cancer on the team to calling our coach a whole litany of names over the years. Maybe this time they'll put their money where their sanctimonious mouth is, and decide they are just too good to a KU fan. We can all dream, can't we?

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Oct 16, 2018 08:08 PM

@Kcmatt7 Every PG he plays against will be smaller than him. His defense will be exceptional, and he'll hit enough 3 pointers so teams can't lay off him. He played out of position all last year, and really did a great job.I can't wait to see him run the team.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Oct 16, 2018 04:53 PM

@BShark It makes alot more sense to have Garrett playing point guard. He's just too talented not to use his skill set at point guard. Our perimeter defense with him and Dotson, Grimes, and KJ will be STOUT.

FBI...here we go • Oct 16, 2018 12:02 AM

@KirkIsMyHinrich If Bill was "in the know", then why did Billy's mom go to such lengths to avoid detection? Why would she tell her son to lie if Bill knew? Why would the Adidas guy make such an adamant point to proclaim Bill's innocence on the subject in court, under threat of perjury? Unless you have something we don't know about, it would appear you are speculating. My take is...nobody threatened Bill with not playing Preston. Preston wasn't declared ineligible. He wasn't "ordered" to not play him. When something came out, he made the family prove it wasn't an illegal benefit, which they couldn't. And Preston didn't play a second, even though he could've helped us alot. That doesn't seem to me like a guilty guy who doesn't care about the rules, nudging and winking at the Adidas rep over a 2,500 payment to Silvio. So, do you really think Bill would involve himself in something like that?

FBI...here we go • Oct 15, 2018 11:46 PM

The shoe companies pay universities millions, and they do a huge amount of recruiting for them. none of this comes as any surprise. Is the Adidas rep supposed to recruit a player and not discuss them with the coach? As long as Bill and staff aren't facilitating payments, it has nothing to do with us if the athlete and the shoe company make an arrangement. Look back at Dook ...for years, they could not recruit a big man to save their life. Now, they get the top 3 front line players, after having lottery pick Bagley and lottery pick Wendel Carter on their front line last year. Nike recruited them, and handed them to Dook. Alot of this nonsense will end once they allow athletes to go pro out of high school.

@FarmerJayhawk What about Beaty...do you think he would be a candidate for the Cornshucker job?

Preseason Media Source Question.... • Oct 13, 2018 12:20 PM

@JayHawkFanToo I wanted to follow up with you about my experience with Opera browser, since you mentioned zero privacy with Google. I have been using Opera for a month, and I flat love it. I combine it with Duck Duck Go as my search engine, with my ad and tracker blocker, and I feel less spied on.

Best Passer... EVER • Oct 13, 2018 12:21 AM

I think Garrett will end up playing point guard. I thot it was going to be Charlie, but I think Garrett makes more sense. He's an obvious mismatch against most point guards. He has an extensive background running teams from high school. He looks to pass first, which would be perfect for a team with as much firepower as we have. He can play behind Dotson, or even in front of Dotson if Devon needs ramp up time. He has an explosive first step, and he is excellent driving to the basket. His defense is elite, and I think the progress he's made with his shot make him less of a liability on the court. Talk about a guy that was playing out of position last year... he was a point guard playing the 3 and 4 at times last year. I think they're going to want to get that skill set on the court. I'm speculating here, with what Bill said about Charlie not being a true point guard, I'm thinking Charlie could back up Grimes, and Garrett backs up Dotson. If that happens, I will be very excited, because I love what Garrett brings to our team.Can you imagine how much better our perimeter defense would be with Marcus on the court?

CNN != Fox • Oct 12, 2018 02:02 PM

@approxinfinity And that's the most insidious part of it.

CNN != Fox • Oct 12, 2018 01:52 PM

@approxinfinity ABC News - 10 million

                         CBS NEWS - 10 million

                         NBC NEWS - 10 million

                         NY TIMES - ?

                         Washington Post - ?

                         Every paper in the country....????

                         Every local tv station in the country

Fox has 3 million...you probably have 300 million in one form or another. How many likes does a Taylor Swift have on her Youtube video? a 100 million? You have Facebook cutting off around 90% of all conservative content. You have Twitter shadow banning every post that doesn't kowtow to the progressive agenda. You have Google effectively burying all criticism against democrats, and highlighting every critique against conservatives in their search results. You have "fact check" organizations like Politi-fact that reek bias, and are used to advance dubious claims all the time. If someone happens to disagree with Global Warming on YouTube or Facebook, they run a disclaimer underneath the story to attack the veracity. This isn't trying to eliminate "fake" news, this is fascism.

You've already won...conservatives are simply rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. They haven't taken Trump out yet, so the Fed Reserve is simply going to crash the economy to take him out, which is why they've raised interest rates 7 times in the past 2 years. Like I said, you've already won. My question to progressives is...do you realize what you've won?

CNN != Fox • Oct 12, 2018 01:18 AM

@approxinfinity You own NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, every newspaper in America, every university, the entire school curriculum( along with the teachers) of every student in America, practically every movie star, every major movie studio, and you are worried over the bias of Fox News? You can't watch a movie, a sit-com, a rock concert, a sporting event w/o seeing some form of progressive propaganda displayed...and God forbid you try to watch an awards show...and Fox News must be stopped, right? Look, I don't watch Fox News very much, but this country damn sure needs Fox News just for the fact that it isn't parroting this nation wide socialist dogma that is shoved down our throats 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. I've been on this earth nearly 58 years, and I've never seen anything like it. But the problem we have with America is we have Fox News, right?...I am really sorry, but I just can't wrap my head around that one, my friend...I try not to wade into this because I'm a reformed conservative, but I just couldn't help it.

CNN != Fox • Oct 12, 2018 01:03 AM

@approxinfinity I agree that CNN has done lots of damage to democrats. They simply took off their mask of objectivity, and revealed they were completely, utterly corrupted in the tank for democrats. No doubts, no semblance, or even hint, or even a whiff of anything remotely suggesting any objectivity on any level. The modern day Pravda. I wouldn't be the least surprised if the DNC didn't send them a daily talking points memo to direct them what to report .No doubt CNN has done alot to fire up, and solidify the republican base.

A little bit like the Federal Reserve is doing with our interest rates. For 7 years of the Obama Administration, the Fed Reserve didn't raise interest rates 1 time. Now, in Obama's final year, they did raise interest rates a quarter of a point. Since Trump was elected, the Fed has raised interest rates 7 times. 7 times. Here's a blurb I found interesting from a deplorable website:

"CNBC reported in December 2015 that President Obama oversaw “seven years of the most accommodative monetary policy in U.S. history” (from the Fed). The Fed Funds rate was at zero for most of Obama’s time in office. Finally, in December 2015 after the Fed announced its first increase in the Fed Funds rate during the Obama Presidency.

The only Fed Funds Rate increases since 2015 were after President Trump was elected President. The Fed increased the Fed Funds Rate now seven times.

The Fed Funds Rate greatly impacts the economy:

Lower interest rates usually spur the economy by making corporate and consumer borrowing easier. Higher interest rates are intended to slow down the economy by making borrowing harder.

Increases in the Fed Funds Rate increase the cost of borrowing and the largest borrower in the world is the US government. With $20 trillion in debt, a 2% increase in interest payments equals $400 billion in annual interest payment increases or nearly a half a trillion dollars!

President Obama benefited from the lowest possible interest rates possible for seven of his eight years and in spite of this, nearly doubled the US Debt from $10 trillion to nearly $20 trillion. With no rate increases in interest rates, President Trump would arguably have a balanced budget to date. (Although the short term implications may not dictate this, the long term implications are clear.)

President Trump knows this and he previously stated that he is not happy with the Fed raising interest rates and killing the economy.
Last week with the DOW reached all-time highs, consumer confidence hit all time highs and unemployment hit its lowest rate in 50 years.

The Fed then announced they would raise rates some more!

The Fed’s Jerome Powell said at a meeting in Boston:

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Tuesday he sees no need to drop the central bank’s current gradual approach to raising interest rates.

Powell said the combination of steady, low inflation and very low unemployment shows the country is going through “extraordinary times.”

The markets almost immediately responded and in spite of the great news on the stock markets and jobs, the markets declined. Another Trump rally – another Fed interest rate block!
Yesterday as the market shed over 800 points, President Trump said the Fed has “Gone Crazy”. He really disagrees with what the Fed is doing.

The Deep State and the Fed don’t care about the American worker or taxpayer. It’s all about power. If they can tank the economy, decrease American’s 401ks and increase interest payments on the massive Obama debt, then they win.
The only thing stopping President Trump from balancing the US Budget and keeping the economy on fire is the Fed’s rising rates. Trump’s right again and again – the Fed’s actions show it favors the left. The Fed has gone crazy!"

The Death Of College Basketball • Oct 11, 2018 11:18 PM

@BShark True. But the concept is out there. And it really would kill college basketball. They obviously didn't approve it this time, but I'm certain we will see it proposed in the future. There has to be a pound of flesh when people transfer. There is no other way. It's certainly not an imminent problem, but the fact that it's being kicked around leads me to believe we'll definitely see it again.

The Death Of College Basketball • Oct 11, 2018 11:05 PM

...is right here. That'll do it. How would you like to lose half your team every year? Senior??? What's that? Why should you stick around, and wait your turn to play? You can simply transfer, and play next year... for someone else.

Preseason Media Source Question.... • Oct 10, 2018 02:22 PM

@drgnslayr Direct TV Now. You'll need an internet connection, and a Roku, or Amazon Firestick. Direct TV Now is around 40 bucks a month, and you should be able to get everything you need from it. This is NOT Direct TV satellite- this runs through your internet...through Roku or Firestick. Direct TV Now has all the local channels, which I think makes it the best ( ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX).You can get a decent Firestick or Roku from 40 to 60 bucks. Calculating a 65.00 a month internet cost, it would be around 105 a month. Of course, once you get your Roku/Firestick, that will open up a brand new world of channels and shows that you should find very interesting. I pay 70 dollars a month, and am able to watch everything, including very new movies ( you're a rookie - that discussion will come later if you decide to cut the cord...hehehehe ).

Charlie was thrust into a tough situation at Cal, where 4 starters were hurt from the git-go, and he was relied on for the bulk of the scoring on a P-5 team as a freshman for a good portion of the season. I think with a much better supporting cast, with less pg responsibilities, he will be a great offensive weapon off the bench. The shothog moniker is a bit unfair in lieu of the circumstances at Cal. After watching Dotson, i just don't see how they could start Charlie over him, even in the beginning. And that's not a knock on Charlie- I just think Dotson is way more advanced than I had originally speculated.

@BeddieKU23 I think it will be sort of a blessing in disguise, as I think KJ will pick up minutes at the 4 as well as the 3. This will in turn allow Vick to get more minutes. Lightfoot has certainly earned court time as well. It also accelerates Big Dave's development, which will be important for next year. Yes, Silvio would've been nice, but I think we have plenty of options available who will do an outstanding job.

Missing Marcus Peters • Oct 08, 2018 01:59 AM

Bill O Brien has to be the dumbest coach in the NFL. I don't think he understands that the objective is to have more points than the other team. You have the ball at the 1 inch line, and you run a QB end around. Beaty could do better.
