@stoptheflop That's my thinking- the offense will run through Dedric a ton.
@BShark I see a lot of similarities.
@mayjay So, what would you call the Strange and curious case of Stubby Miller? Would that not be the poster child of "reputed corruption"? Scurrilous charges made by the biggest media organ in sports with references to seemingly phantom evidence obtained by the FBI, and not one follow up after the bomb was dropped? Hmmm. Reputed seems like a very generous word in that instance.
@jayballer73 That certainly happened on more than one occasion where Mitch would come over and wipe out a run out with a huge block. He had some great moments. He also had moments where he lunged in the air, and knocked the shooter down. I'm not picking on him- I think he abandoned basic defensive principles at times to go for the block ...maybe it was because he was playing out of position ...maybe he fell in love with the block. I dunno. I know that our team got better the more Silvio played, and the less Mitch was in there. He's a kid ...he's going to get better. I still love him. This year will be a good year for him to work on his overall game, and get better and better. He's probably not going to get much playing time, but I could see him in the rotation next year doing things that he wasn't able to do last year.
@BShark That would be crazy....imagine a 3-9 season...wow, that would be worth a parade considering the last two years.
@mayjay I think she is on to what probably it's all about, but like you pointed out, it doesn't answer the evacuation question. Weird stuff...
I think we need to seriously start talking of naming children Pooka. If he keeps it up, I might have to drop a bug in my daughter's ear.
wow.....KU scoring 31 in a half against any Div 1 opponent is progress...
@jaybate-1.0 I think the government is doing the opposite. I'm not sure that's always been the case, but something was going on that governments worldwide didn't want anyone to see.
Here is a little blurb I found as a followup:

Here's a brilliant idea: when monetary inflation has hit a million percent, raise the minimum wage 60 times higher, and don't allow businesses to raise prices. Socialist math = 40% of businesses closing down...

@JayHawkFanToo I knew you were going to say that...lol. Stats do lie. Mitch never made a block on the man he was guarding...ever( unless he was in a mismatch with a smaller player). Practically every one of his blocks were weak side help, where he left his man wide open, and came from the side or from behind to block the shooter ( not his man). The numbers are deceiving because Mitch also fouled at a higher rate than he blocked the shot, and he also left his man wide open for easy layups when he didn't get there in time. So, he was either blocking, fouling, or letting his wide open man stroll into the basket for an uncontested layup. Which is one of the reasons our defense was so porous last year. Look, we all love Mitch, but he has a long way to go defensively, imo. If Dedric played defense the same way, he'd have double the number of blocks as Mitch. Of course, it would leave a huge hole in the middle of the defense to play that way, just like it did with Mitch last year.
@JayHawkFanToo Mitch is a better shot blocker than Dedric or Silvio? I disagree.
@Texas-Hawk-10 The way he left the Falcons could be a red flag, but I don't know all the circumstances. Maybe he left on bad terms with that crazy owner... maybe it was a sign of something else. But Long can't be held responsible for Petrino playing hide the salami with the coed. He's not a mind reader.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Petrino didn't have a gf when he was hired at Hogland. That happened later. Was there something in Petrino's past that should've alerted Long about Petrino, or are you
simply trying to convict him after the fact?
@BShark If it was just Charlie against his man, and they were the only two on the court, you might have a point. But, he has a front line that is the best in the nation. And for what we had on the perimeter defensively last year, except for Marcus, he can't be any worse.
Silvio is a VERY good player, and there were times last year I thought he was more effective than Doke. Not saying he should start over Doke, but he should be the first guy off the bench, and will be great.
Does anyone expect anything different from the state that used to force airlines flying over it to pick up any alcoholic drinks from fliers while they were flying over Kansas? The land of 3.2 beer is restricting high school players from competing out of state...classic Kansas thinking there.
@nuleafjhawk Can we honestly blame Tucky for not taking Silo Tech seriously? They probably looked over at the other bench, saw Liberace, and were waiting for the baby grand piano to be brought out.
Everyone is writing off Charlie. Charlie will be just fine. His defense will be just fine.
I moved mine too.
1- KU
2- Silo Tech
3-TCU
4-TT
5-Hillbillies
6-Clones
7-Okie St
8-Faylor
9-Shorthorns
10-OU
I could be all wrong, but as long as I get the first one right, it doesnβt make a bit of difference to me.
I would be surprised if there was a problem. I think if there was, we would've heard something by now.
@approxinfinity He's still a good 2 to 3 inches shorter than Marcus. And Dotson is absolutely not 6'2.
@BShark Look how taller Marcus is than Vick, and they're both listed as 6'5".
There are always criteria that humans set up in order for something to happen, based on past results. Kenpom has his formula - top 25 in adj offense and defense in order to win the national title. And that works until it doesn't, and then they'll reinvent the formula, or call it an anomaly. The one formula I know that can be counted on everytime is you have to have more points than your opponent. Now, whether that's outscoring your opponents, limiting your opponents, or a combination of both is always going to be the rub. The reason I have so much faith in this team is the ability to change the lineup to match whatever style of ball we're up against.
A one dimensional team is going to be at much greater risk of getting bounced than a team that can adapt to whatever style of basketball it is facing. Case in point are the Mighty Wahoos, the number 1 overall seed in last year's tournament, who were flat chewed up and spit out by a tiny little team ...UMBC. UVA was up against a 4 out, speedy team that was hitting all their shots. The vaunted pack line was eaten alive, as UVA sagged to the middle of the lane, and was eviscerated from outside. UVA had zero depth, and couldn't match up to save their lives. A little like VCU vs us many moons ago. A little like we looked against Nova. We just couldn't match up. Does that mean all is lost? Far from it.
We've never had the depth like we have this year. We can play 4 out, 2 bigs, 3 bigs. We can play any way you want to play. Throw the formulas out with this team. We have the personnel to stifle the perimeter, and dominate from inside. There won't be a team in America we can't match up with. Take Dedric away, and we have a slew weapons at every position. Double Doke? You'll pay through the nose. You can't double team every player. And the beauty is...the team is just going to get better and better and better as the year goes on. This is going to be a memorable year for us.
@Kcmatt7 New battle plan...Pooka left....Pooka right. Rinse, lather, repeat.
@approxinfinity I gotta give them huge amounts of credit to suffer and endure that long. Pooka Pooka!!!!
@jaybate-1.0 Pooka, Pooka!
I'm like this guy...I hate both parties. Should be required reading for all partisans:

And it's been confirmed he won't get any Jello, either.
The line opened up making us 7 point road dogs, and it has since dropped to 3 1/2. I think we lose by 20.
The big difference with Grimes from Fiba is he won't be playing point nearly as much, and it will allow him to get set from 3. Huge difference, imo. I'm going to call > 35% floor, with a 40% ceiling from 3.
I'm thinking the forgotten man will be Kelce, and Tyreek could be Pro Bowl bound. I say that because Mahomes is so used to throwing to his wideouts coming out of TT, and he has such a cannon arm, he won't be able to contain himself with a wr with so much speed as Hill. I also think Kareem Hunt has a huge day against the Bolts. Everyone is picking the Bolts to win the West, but I think KC gets it done.
@BShark Always remember my posts have an element of wishful thinking...lol.
@BShark Disagree. The strength of the team is multi layered, from a 7 footer coming off a 77% shooting year, to some of the best dribble drivers on the perimeter we've ever had. It's hard to visualize a completely different offense, but Dedric will be heavily involved, as well as Grimes, Moore/Dotson, and Vick all cutting, driving to the basket. And that's before we even get to the front line. We aren't going to be sitting beyond the 3 line, passing the ball around the perimeter like last year. Teams will have to zone us because they won't be able to stop us playing man to man. This team will also pick up a slew of easy baskets off defensive pressure because he's going to throw the kitchen sink at other team's perimeter players. If we miss the steal, we have monsters on the front line to pick up the slack. In some ways, we're going to resemble Tucky with all the dribble drives. I don't think stagnant will be the word folks will call our offense, imo.
Graft in the Defense Department? Oh My Goodness π²....tell me it ain't so, Joe.
@JayHawkFanToo I spent an hour trying set up mirroring, and I'm going to have to get a new sound/video card in order to get miracast. Have you ever replaced one?
BTW, for your wireless network, you need to meet Thio Joe.

Geez Louise, man...it is lots of work to make this monstrosity function. I've got the tv and movies up, but the live tv has proven to be elusive. Has anyone ever tried IPTV? Is it worth the $$$ to get a subscript?

The guy put up the fence, and it wasn't even on his property line. I'm all for kids behaving, but to put up an electric fence in an area where you know young kids will be is just evil, imo.
Cranky bastards everywhere are applauding this wacko move:

@Crimsonorblue22 His numbers are fine. He's averaged as high as 24 ppg in the top league in the world. He averaged less than 2 t.o.s a game, so I don't see a problem.
Nicaragua on the brink of collapse. Ortega has hired criminal gangs to shake people down, especially his opposition. Another socialist paradise on the brink of total anarchy:
@BShark Great point. I also think we had limited defensive minded folks playing on the perimeter. Athletically wise, replacing Dedric for Svi will be huge. Malik wasn't that interested in playing defense, and Vick wasn't either at times. I give a pass to Devonte because his legs were about ready to fall off playing all those minutes. The depth will help a lot, but the athleticism we are adding is simply off the charts as compared to last year. I think we have a shot at being the best defensive team in the country.
