Josh has such an intense personality, and plays with such a fury, I can't recall anyone playing like he did. I think Wigs is detached emotionally from the game to some degree ...maybe it's a cultural Canadian thing. If he ever got emotionally connected to the game, he could start All Star games.
I think we need to add Nebraska to this year's schedule. In fact, I wouldn't mind playing them 8 more times this year. We would go to a bowl game.
@BShark He was a great player until the foot went bad. Just a great shooter.
@FarmerJayhawk I'm thinking Braun could also develop into a poor man's Svi.
@BShark Absolutely. You and I were the Garrett cheerleaders on here. And Big Dave...omg, is he going to be good...
@BShark Now you're being dismissive. You better eat a Snickers bar.
@Lulufulu I have no illusions that either player is going to be NPOY anytime soon. Neither of them may even start in their career, but I couldn't help but notice how much all 4 of them appreciated the opportunity, and with Bill's ability to get the very best out of guys that carry the team first attitude, you never know. Maybe this is a declaration that a great attitude and patience can trump talent most of the time.
[
@BShark I see. I was talking about Agbaji before his senior year. I didn't mean all of them...lol.
@BShark Those are good schools, but both Dtae and Frank both had signed with lesser schools originally. Out of all the offers you listed, I didn't see Kentucky, Dook, UNC, Nova, etc on any of them. These weren't top 20 recruits, although they had been recruited by some good schools, such as Xavier, Nike U, Virginia, and the rest. Not one school of the caliber of KU offered them. Each of them received 1 offer from a blueblood school. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. Were any of the 4 originally even in the Top 100 before they signed with KU?
@Kcmatt7 His coach said this:
βHe came in as a freshman. He was 5-foot-7 or 5-8. Heβs close to 6-7 now,β Fritz said. βI think he has a couple more inches in him. His brother is over 6-9.
βHeβs 17. He wonβt turn 18 until April. He still has some (physical) maturing to do and all that.β
@BShark So, an offer from Silo Tech is the same thing as an offer from KU? I think not! I think Braun will surprise us...it could be mindless speculation, but I've been right on these things before. I'm a fan ... I'm going to think sunshine and rainbows.
@jayballer73 It threw me for a loop as well when they started putting stories in their web blog, which is in the middle of the page. It took me awhile to get used to it.
It struck me the similarities between these 4 players. Appalachian St ...Towson St...Silo Tech...no Div 1 offers for Agbaji until his senior year. A breakout year has us looking, and when the offer is made, the kid is so flattered and humbled he has to say yes. KU is his dream location, and he fully understands that he is not guaranteed a second of playing time...he has to earn it. We will help him to fulfill his dreams, but he has to work harder than he ever has to achieve it. I remember when we first signed Frank, it was like BFD...who is Frank Mason? I remember when we signed Devonte, and I was ecstatic to the point that many of you told me to calm down- that he wasn't that great.
I really think the core strength of this team next year and beyond will be found with Agbajis and the Brauns. Will they both become all B12, and also POY, and All-American? Agbaji came on like a hurricane his senior year ...there is ALOT to love about this kid's game. Once he has a year or so into the program, I could see him start to make an impact. You need a shooter off the bench? The kid can flat shoot. And Braun is just now scratching the surface ...what's not to love about a fundamentally sound player with very good ball skills, that can shoot the lights out, and hasn't even turned 18 yet? Our bench is going to be loaded with shooters next year. Once these two get into their upper class years, we're talking some serious star potential. I don't know if they ever achieve what Frank/ Devonte have, but it's going to be a delight watching them try.
@Gorilla72 All of the new posts on KUSports are in the middle column of the website. I'm counting at least 7 stories since 9-17, not including their podcast:

It's our Bohemian Rhapsody moment...is it real life...is it just fantasy... Now, it seems like that KU football has an opposite effect than basketball with my picks. When I say they'll win, they lose. When I say they'll lose, they win ( a little like bshark in basketball ), so in order to make sure KU wins today, I am predicting THEY LOSE.
@BShark Do you think we'll get Hurt/JRE or both?
@DanR http://www2.kusports.com/news/2018/jul/08/ku-point-guard-devon-dotson-impressing-early-serio/ β β
He played at Providence Day, which played the toughest high school schedule in the nation, playing 2 top 10 nationally ranked high school teams, including powerhouse Dematha.

@BShark That's my thought on it. I know we'll have Lightfoot and Big Dave in the front court...perhaps a Silvio, or would they entertain go to a 4 out with KJ? Looks like we're going to need some big guys, too.
It seems so far that OPERA works better than either Firefox or Chrome for me. Microsoft Edge is disqualified because you can't use an ad blocker with it. OPERA also comes with a VPN built in, and it's own ad blocker from the get-go ( Ghostery gets tiring tinkering with it ). That way when I raid the free stuff, I'm in like Flynn.
@BShark Braun could be one of those 4 year treasures we get every once in a while. Really tall...can really shoot, and handles the ball a lot better than most guys his height. Not point guard good, but good enough. Defense is probably a liability at this point, but could fill a BG role on the team well.
@JayHawkFanToo I'm a duck duck man myself.
Rot ro....a beef just popped up with wigs:

I am sick of Google watching every second of my online life, so I'm giving OPERA browser a whirl. So far, I like it better than any other browser I've used. It seems to be faster than Chrome, and I don't have Big Brother breathing down my neck. My advice: give it a try...I like how it functions better..
@mayjay I just finished Red Notice. That was quite a thriller. I'm still calling bs on the cover story for the world wide blackout. When they took down the live NASA feed, something was up. Unless they had a kiddie p*** janitor there as well.
I need some freaking KU basketball. 8 long days to go.
@DanR Hmm. Sooo, let me get this straight...they raided an observatory, shut it down for 2 weeks, shut down the local post office, and took observatories down all over the world because a janitor was watching child smut. And of course, the FBI couldn't reveal the "national security" issue with local law enforcement. Or it was a solar flare.
@wissox It's hilarious. He was such an annoying player. My opinion is Gracie Allen is mentally unbalanced, and will have a nervous breakdown in the NBA.
@KirkIsMyHinrich Frank is an alpha competitor, and that strong will got him a NPOY award, and a spot in the NBA. Dotson looks like he's cut from the same cloth.
@wissox They almost treated him like he was the victim. That has to be some of the dirtiest play since Bill Laimbeer.
17 RANKED PLAYER IN THE COUNTRY (CLASS OF 2018)
STAR RANKING: 5 STARS
HEIGHT: 6β2β
WEIGHT: 175 POUNDS
POSITION: POINT GUARD
HIGH SCHOOL: PROVIDENCE DAY SCHOOL IN NORTH CAROLINA
CHOSE KANSAS OVER: ARIZONA, FLORIDA, MARYLAND, AMONG MANY OTHERS
SCOUTING REPORT
Frank Mason. Devonte Graham. Devon Dotson. Kansas head coach Bill Self has done a great job recruiting the point guard position during the last decade. With Graham being a senior, it looks like Dotson is next in line of great Kansas lead guards. The North Carolina prep star has the make-up to become just as good, if not better than the 2 other names before his.
Devon Dotson jumps out on tape while evaluating him. Speed is the name of his game. The 6β2β³ PG is one of the fastest players with the ball in his hands in the entire high school class of 2018. He explodes when attacking the rim. He thrives at getting into the lane and finishing or dishing. The top 20 prospect displays elite first step quickness and is virtually unarguable one on one at the prep level.
He can score from all 3 levels on the court. Dotson has pretty shooting fundamentals with a quick release. He already shows a consistent 3-point shot, which will make him that much more dangerous when in attack mode. Opposing defenders will have to play his ability to drive, which will lead to him using his sweet shooting stroke. And vice versa.
Dotson is a high level ball distributor who seems to always make the correct pass. The 5-star prospect displays court vision beyond his years. He sees plays happening a few steps before they occur. What makes the point guard so intriguing as a player is the fact he is dominant on both ends of the court.
Dotson is a defensive menace and plays bigger than his size. He can lock up opposing point guards and has been a steal machine during his high school career. Once he gets stronger and adds weight, we donβt have any worries about him defending at the division 1 level. He can totally disrupt an opponents offensive rhythm with the way he competes at the defensive end.
Like Mason and Graham, the future Jayhawk is a winning type of player. We really like the composure that he plays with and has the look of a future captain. He has intangibles that you canβt teach. We believe he will be handed the keys to the Kansas basketball program next season. Devon Dotson has that βITβ factor that canβt be taught. Look for him to have an immediate impact for the Jayhawks and be in the running for All Big-12 honors as a freshman. We are very high on his abilities.
@jayballer73 He does things that Frank wasn't doing as a senior. His defense is light years ahead of freshman Frank, and his step back is an ankle breaker. If he can shoot half way well from 3, with the way he drives the ball, he could be a nearly instant star.
Sorry about trolling the thread...go back to memorabilia...
@kjayhawks He better have a good dentist lined up, because if he pulls that mickey mouse crap in the NBA, he might lose some teeth.
@mayjay I wasn't going through my closet or anything, but I did trip and stumble past this video yesterday:
[
@justanotherfan Interesting comparison. i think Dedric is a better passer, and has better handles, but I think Perry is better shooter, at least so far. I was trying to rack my brain to come up with a comparison, and Dedric is a composite of several players, from some Manning to Perry, a bigger, slower version of JJ, to Oubre's perimeter jumper. Good stuff...got me to contemplating...
@jayballer73 It wouldn't be the first time a recruit and his family had a different analysis than our coaches on their ability. I'd much rather have a kid that, if not getting minutes, is not upset and angry. We probably told Williamson we were looking to recruit higher ranked guys, and they viewed him as a 3 or 4 year guy who would play limited minutes the first two years. And probably Mom and him didn't want to hear that.
@DanR SOLD!
@jayballer73 hehehehehe...this is fun. The best speculation on the board was where they were arguing about whether Braun would grow some more....that is just epic, classic rockchalk speculation...lmao. It was just too funny...
How about this? The team struggles from 3 in the pre-conference...Braun announces he is accelerating his senior year, and comes on in January, and hits the game winning shot to win the national championship. since we're willfully speculating...
@BShark I will NOT calm down..you can't make me...lol. 7 double figure scorers...we'll average more than the Warriors....lmao...
All 5 of our starters will average double figures, and two reserves will avg double figures as well.
Here's a real good video that shows what he can do:
[
I like him. I think he's smart enough to know he's not going to get alot of playing time at first, but he will grow into a real good 4 year guy, imo. The kid can flat shoot the ball.
I think they beat Baylor, then lose their next 8. 3-9...not too shabby!
@BShark He would've pulled Marcus out on the perimeter now, instead of having our mediocre guards try to feed him down low. Our guards lost us that game, imo.
@BShark I think it's going to be very hard for teams to focus on one player. One of the big differences between Marcus and Dedric is that Dedric will be all over the court, where as, as my memory serves, Marcus was stationed within 5 foot of the basket in our half court sets. I think both the mobility of Dedric and Grimes will allow the ball to move all over the court. And of course, we will always have the automatic 2 points from Doke pretty much anytime we want it.
@mayjay lol.
