@BShark I thought the same thing.
@JayHawkFanToo Roy learned the scam from Dean Smith, implemented it at KU, and brought the same guy that was running the scam to UNC to run the same deal. It's one of Dean's ideas Roy ran with. I highly doubt with the amount of heat that has been generated by this story they could simply blame KU, and walk off untouched. There would be a lynch mob over that one. The NCAA will end up classifying it as an academic problem, not an athletic problem, and slap their hands. It might take them years to get to that point. It will not include KU.
I'm not worried about Roy's accomplishments- glad he finally learned to play half court offense. As a KU fan, I prefer to run my own race. I don't care what UNC is doing- I want to see us back in the national championship game. We've been close the last two years. It's coming.
From the Wichita EGGLE:
**“Dedric is the taller of the two and probably the better player. He is extremely skilled and a great shooter from 17 feet and in. He’s a great rebounder and a big-time passer for a big man,” reports Eric Bossi of Rivals.com. “I think there are a lot of similarities to the way (former KU forward) Marcus Morris played. Not an exact comparison, but if you are looking for a recent Kansas player he’s probably the best comparison.”
Dedric, who finished the 2016-17 season with 19 double doubles (he scored 35 points against Iowa and 26 against Oklahoma) was a finalist for the 2017 Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award after joining Ben Simmons, Frank Kaminsky, Draymond Green, and David West as collegians with 600-plus points, 300-plus rebounds, and 100-plus assists in a season.
“With Dedric you are talking about a first-round NBA draft pick. He is a guy who, assuming if he’s as good as he has been, he is someone who can compete for the Big 12 player of the year,” Bossi said of the former McDonald’s All-American.
K.J., who was ranked No. 54 in the recruiting Class of 2015 by Rivals.com to Dedric’s No 33 ranking, exploded for 28 points and 16 rebounds in a game against Houston and grabbed 19 boards versus East Carolina this past season. He hit 39.9 percent of his shots, including 22 of 66 from three (33.3 percent).
“He is a junkyard dog,” Bossi said. “He is a small forward but can play as an undersized power forward. He’s another good rebounder and is tough on defense. He will get out in transition and score. He had an injury that held him back for a little bit but now he is back to getting healthy. He is starting to return to the player of old. K.J. is a potential all-league player. These are definitely impact guys.”**
I'm very excited to have the Lawson clan. Dedric will walk into a starring role- the guy is flat nails. We're talking huge rebounders here, folks. And that is certified...and smokified.
Frank is one of my all time favorites. I know he will become an NBA starter at some point, and he will excel there as well. We were very lucky to have him- just wish he had a little brother.
A title will cure all ills. Now, lets go get that Shakur dude, and win a title.
The Lawson Brothers ...coming to an arena near you. RCJHGKU.
This team just reloads. It was vital that we get to see the best of Devonte. He is a great player who deferred most of the year to Frank. The chip on his shoulder for that Oregon game will be great motivation for next year in the tournament. Now that actually means we are
LOADED
@Blown I want to see him running the offense without Frank. I think you'll be surprised.
I am surprised anyone would question DG's bonafides running the show. He won't be deferring to two All- Americans - I think we'll see the 27 point kicking Buddy's butt Devonte.
@brooksmd I'm sorry.
@jaybate-1.0 It was a false flag designed to draw up hatred towards Assad, in order to overthrow him, and advance the Islamic Caliphate, imo. The Globalists must have their war. I would advise all citizens of Damascus to get the heck out of there while there is still time.
@jaybate-1.0 I should've asked before jumping to conclusions. I should know better. My apologies.
@jaybate-1.0 I didn't understand your reference to Israel, obviously. I took my post down.
Good luck, CB.
To that certain somebody that said there was no way this would happen:

@justanotherfan I think you hit the nail. The other concept I also believe in is the no rebuild year. When was the last time our team "rebuilt"? Never, right? We had Cliff in the middle. Fail. We had Diallo. Fail. We had Doke. Fail. So, we stick in Landen Lucas to give us a semblance of a front line. And Coach does such a great job in placing Lando in a position to do well, we forget he is actually a 3 star recruit who can't score. Then he runs into a Jordan Bell, and gets his clock cleaned. Now, in Lando's defense, he probably maximized his abilities the 2nd best on the whole team behind Frank, as he gave us two really good years. But, he is still a 3 star guy living in a 5 star world. If Doke doesn't go out for the year, we win the national championship.
If there was another way that could allow us to mask our hole in the middle, we might've made it to that championship game. I'm not an x and o guy by any means, so I'll leave that to smarter people on here to sort that out. But the NCAA stacked our bracket with the tallest teams ( other than FSU ) in the tournament. Simply put, the tall teams made it - those with limited front lines didn't. So, we had an amazing coaching job that led us to the 2nd spot in the whole tourney going in. Take the case of Nerlens Noel getting injured. Tucky fell apart. WE got out the duct tape, installed Landen, and proceeded to play all kinds of non-4 people at the 4, from Svi, to JJ, to a lost and bewildered Carlton Bragg, and won a 13th straight Big 12 title by 4 games, and 3 games in the tournament....without a front line. We don't rebuild. We don't end up in the NIT. But, our warts are hidden so well by a hall of fame coach, we end up getting exposed against the wrong match up.
@jayballer54 We'll win one next year. Notice the final two teams had frontlines? We have a front line now.
@jaybate-1.0 They were cooking the books. The flagrant foul on the polish monster was the giveaway.
@BShark Love the humility of Allen with that tweet. We must get this kid.
We do our draft like making a sandwich - we do 12 rds AL, and 12 rounds NL. My first Royal was in the 3rd round of the AL, and I chose Lorenzo Cain. I like the offseason reports of the exercise program Cain is trying in order to stay on the field. Combine that with this being Cain's free agent year, well folks, that's simply a slice of fantasy baseball heaven. Tell me what other team anywhere is going to allow a stolen base maven hit in the 3rd spot in the batting order ( other than Trout and Altuve )????? That's some tall cotton we're in here, folks. That's break out year city, simply by getting more abs.
Then I got Nate Karns as a monster waiver wire pick up, and I'm as giddy as a school girl over that one. A Royal leading MLB in K's? Probably not, but a Jethro can dream, can't he? Those neck and back injuries took their toll on his fastball, which artificially inflated his whip and era. Just let the KC effect take place with this guy, and he could make the all-star game. The KC effect happens to mediocre pitchers where they suddenly have the best defense, and the best bullpen in baseball, pitching in a cavern that especially helps flyball pitchers like Karns. And oh my goodness, can this guy strike em out. I picked him up when KC sent Merrifield down, and couldn't be happier.
@jayballer54 Frank's bidnezz is the scoring bidnezz. He's got a Masters in it. Just give him the ball, and watch the magic.
@drgnslayr I don't think in any way it was a lack of desire. If anything, it was the other way around- they wanted it so bad, they tried too hard, played tight, didn't let the game come to them. We had nothing inside to make the easy shot- every shot was a contested shot. They would collapse on the ball in that match up zone, which took away the drives to the basket. Only once did I see one of our guards drive to collapse the defense, and pass to the 3 point line, and that resulted in a wide open 3 for Svi. We kept throwing up nervous 3s, with little success. The entry passes made into Landen were wasted, as LL's weak post moves resulted in him shooting several weak shots that never had a chance. You take away our drives, and the post, and guard us on the perimeter, we have no way to score. Which is why we scored 60 points. If we had a 300lb 7 footer in the middle, we would've squashed Jordan Bell like a bug. If we had a 6'10" 4 with the ability to put pressure on the defense by shooting or driving along side the 7 footer, now we're not going to be shut out in the paint. It's been a long 3 years without a frontline that people feared. For years, we had some really great players at the 4/5.
BTW, every time they show Dana Altman on tv, he looks like he just ate a sh** sandwich.
We can't get on the same page, it seems. When we have all american bigs, we have mid-major guards. When we have all american guards, we have mid-major bigs. I guess I'm off topic, but I seem to be taking this loss pretty hard. Maybe Coach Self is such a great coach, he can take a Landen, and make him look pretty darn good, until he meets a big that is bigger, stronger, more athletic. Then you realize that doughnut hole in the middle might've been bigger than we thought. Maybe our never reload Jayhawks ( when was the last time we had a 'rebuilding' year? 2013? With Wiggins and Embiid? Nah. ) are best at not having bad seasons. Maybe I should just be happy with however it turns out. But I'm watching other teams playing the Final Four right now, and I know damn well we could beat them. We should be playing Monday night.
Very nice. Well deserved.

@jaybate-1.0 How about first game next year?
@mayjay So, I morph into Liberace if I think we were a better team. I'm not buying that story, your honor.
@mayjay What is Squeeky? I'm not following.
We weren't beat by a better team. We beat ourselves.
@Kcmatt7 I pointed out them burning crap and threatening Higgins, and they started calling me names on a board I frequent. Touchy.
@jayballer54 OMG, I pointed out what the Tucky fans are doing, and they called me a "retard". I will tell you- they are becoming more like Misery every day.
Get here ...NOW. The Final Four feels like an open wound, so baseball can't get here quick enough. I drafted Lorenzo and Merrifield ( was hoping Mondesi would get time in the minors, and I could get some last round speed with Whit. Oh well. Maybe he'll be back up if Mondesi struggles).
@jayballer54 Anyone saying they were embarrassed is an egotistical SOB who has confabulated their self worth with the fortunes of a basketball team.
@Blown Graham runs point. Malik is the number 2. Vick/Svi is the 3. Preston/Bragg is the 4. Doke is the 5. Or something like that. I choose to remain myopic about Preston, so when someone suggests he might not be eligible, I put my hands over both ears, and yell BLAHBLAHBLAH as loudly as I can. Now, of course this can be a little tricky sitting in a public restaurant with a smart phone, so I'm hoping I don't read many more posts prophesying that negative event.
@HighEliteMajor I didn't think our guys knew how to attack them. I don't think we caught on until 30 minutes into the game, and then we couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. We need a Dooley sitting by Bill's side, imo.
@mayjay LMAO...omg, you crack me up. That was PHOF ....
@kjayhawks Me too...I'm still in mourning.
@approxinfinity I'm slow...it took me my 2nd read to get that...lol.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I don't think bragg would've saved us. i think we needed to make adjustments that weren't made, but I still think Bill will grow from this, and like everything else he does, he will conquer it. I still think we need a clipboard asst. that hammers them to play defense, an x and o guy that gets them to play the sort of defense that wins championships.
@BigBad The fact that you think I'm anti-Self is hilarious...lol. I am regularly chided by a whole slew of people on here as a "sunshine pumper". I don't think we attacked the Oregon defense correctly, which had a direct impact on our 3 point %. We kept trying to drive the lane through the matchup zone, which will not work. Frank had success doing it for awhile, but they took that away. Once our perimeter guys drove past the first defender, they were met by two other Dux. the easy play would be to pass it off to a set shooter on the wing, as JJ finally did to Svi with about 12 minutes to go. But that's not what we did. Drive after drive into the heart of the defense- or rushing heavily guarded threes from the perimeter. Of course we aren't going to make 3s when we aren't open. We had to draw the defense in, and then make the pass to the open wing when their defense collapsed. You aren't going to convince me we couldn't have beat this team, so lets leave it at that.
@BigBad I wonder why Vegas had us as 7 point favorites. It is amazing we even had a .500 record with the way you describe our players. The 5'10" guy happened to be the NPOY. Our record in EE games is now 2-5. That wasn't a relaxed team I saw out there- that was a jazzed up team that played scared. Nice job picking out what you feel is a sleight in my post. Sounds like you want to pick a fight. Welcome to the board, btw.
Forever in my mind, Dana Altman is a punk. But, he was a punk when he was a Grape Ape, and got run out of Manhattan. I believe Coach will figure out a way to come out on top of these games in the future, but folks, he was using duct tape in the middle with a slow LL, and no 4 ( no, Svi is not a 4 in any way, shape, or form ). If Udoka is there, he's knocking Bell on his keister. If he's there, our guards have a clear path to the goal, because when Doke seals you off, you are out of the play, period. So, going forward, what can we do to take that next step?
I think we need a Joe Dooley clone on the bench, a straight x and o guy that can bring back that elite defense back into the picture. Maybe it was such a short bench that prevented us from being elite defensively, maybe our lack of interior personnel crushed us, but we were never elite on the defense this year. That is the missing element we had with both runs to the final four. I know we have to have great recruiters, but man, I miss the days of the lockdown defense we had when Dooley was around.
Bill's approach to Elite 8 games will change, because Bill Self is a winner. Bill has shown he is adjustable, and he will adjust. The Dux were prepared for us from the opening tip. It took us about 30 minutes to finally figure out how to beat the matchup zone, and then we misfired on a ton of open looks. It was like we were trying to make up a 10 point deficit with every shot. This is where a real x and o guy can develop a plan to defeat our opponents. I thought our guys looked lost trying to figure out how to beat that team- they were more ready for us than we were for them.
Bill has a will that is stronger than horseradish. He will overcome these Elite 8 games. I realize that isn't going to be good enough for some of you. Some of you will call for the guy going into the Hall of Fame this week to be fired. That's ok - you have the right to be an ingrate. Some of you will be offended I am calling for new blood to be added to our assistants- that's ok, too. I love KU basketball. I love this coach, and this program. I have been a fan since 1971. I am privileged to follow them with you, and owe you a debt of gratitude for being there with me every game, win or lose. Remember, there is always another year. Until then, May God bless each and every one of you. RCJHGKU.
@DoubleDD It's cragar's favorite moment, where he gets to be smartest guy in the room. He feels like he won.
It hurts, but you have to come to play. No doubt we were outcoached, and out played. It took our team 30 minutes to figure out what to do, and we couldn't hit a shot to save our lives. Oregon knew exactly what to do to attack us. I feel like Joe Dooley could've helped a ton if he was on the bench in this game. great season, though. I'm going to miss our seniors, and I hope Devonte comes back to lead this team next year.
