@BShark I'm glad he's going to be better than Q. Will his attitude be better, too? I get it...we need outside shooting. But after RJ and Q, I'm pretty much done with the drama queens. If he wants to come in and be a part of a really good team, then I'll welcome him with open arms. If he walks in thinking he's the big shit, demanding playing time, I would just as soon see him sign with the Tarholes.
Q was a great kid...then Bill pulled him out of a few games, and now he's transferring. I'm not saying Jalen isn't a great kid, but give me a Silvio, a Devonte, a Mcbride any day of the week...

@BeddieKU23 DD put up a poll on Twitter where he asked if he should change his uni number from 11 to 1, and Kyree responded, and everybody is going crazy...lol.
The best player on our team is in town. Better than Doke. Better than Devon. And who says he's better? He does. We've got our latest prima donna gracing us with his presence. He knows we have a need, so he explains it this way:
“All the schools that are on me heavy are schools that need a wing,” The 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward recently said in an Instagram Live interview with Tipton Edits. “That’s what I’m really going off now, schools that are really in need of me.”
So, how would he help KU ?

Wow... how could we live without that? He's not here to sit, and since he is the BEST player of OSU, Florida, North Carolina, and of course...KU, how could we not play him 40 minutes every game? I don't know how we've ever managed without him before now. Love that attitude - we "sure" need him.

@HighEliteMajor Can Ochai handle the ball well enough to play the 2? Have we talked to Jaevin Cumberland? That guy is a 2 all the way. Shot 40% from 3 last year. 2 to 1 a/t. 17 ppg. We get him, and have Ochai at the 3. The other way is having Ochai with ball handling duties, and Jalen... who is a freshman...and might not be so great on defense. I prefer going and getting the experienced guy, if possible.
@HighEliteMajor Then I certainly hope Jalen Wilson doesn't come in, and slow down Ochai's development.

If Q had demanded to play pg, wouldn't he have the same opportunity with us that he would've had anywhere else in his junior year after DD left? I wonder if Q's drama is why DD waited so long to announce... maybe there was some friction there...maybe DD didn't like Q saying the line about only seeing half his game...hmmmm....vewwy interesting...
@bmensch1 Great minds think alike. I was writing a post about Q, Markus Howard, and Marquette, and the storm knocked out the power here for a minute, and then I just let it go. He wants to be Trae Young.

@jayballer73 The guy shoots like Devonte and Svi from 3. I'm sure he's probably looking for a full time gig. I think I'd rather get a guy like him, and play Ochai at the 3 than going for Jalen. That way, we have experience added to the lineup, and Ochai would get a full year starting. That would give our starting lineup a lot of experience- something we didn't have last year.
Has Jaevin Cumberland signed yet? Have we talked to him?
@jayballer73 I think he was indirectly blaming us for his struggles. The truth is, he couldn't beat out DD for point guard. Very few players could've beat out DD- he's just too good. I don't know this as fact, but I get the feeling we had some pretty bad attitudes on the team last year. Maybe some entitlement issues were going on. Maybe some of the guys that outplayed Q weren't fond of him starting no matter what ... I'm not sure. But i do wonder if Q was the one coming back instead of DD if the team would've bought into the Q showcasing. I don't want showcasers...I want team players that care about winning. nothing personal against Q, but i cannot imagine him being our #1 option. Trae Young redux????
@jayballer73 i knew for a fact that Q was buh bye, but then I let my guard down, and read a soapy article about Q and his struggles, and got to thinking he would come back.Of course, I felt like DD was gone, gone, gone. So, the thought of him transferring didn't seem right, or even plausible with DD gone. But then DD pulls out, and a minute later, Q transfers. My question is...if DD had stayed in the draft, would Q be transferring? Could you imagine a Q/Marcus backcourt?

Q coming back leads me to surmise that DD is probably staying in the draft. I'm not sure Q would've come back if DD did, in light of his wanting to play PG .

@Bosthawk It's not just the kids that are running the show. Maybe him and Dad don't see eye to eye on the decision. I'll bet you he wants to come back, and Dad wants him to stay in the draft.
@Bosthawk The phrase "jerk move" would not be what I would personally use to describe the biggest decision of their lives. I feel they have more skin in the game than we do, and if they want to take as much time as they need to make their decision, then I'm certainly ok with that.

@HighEliteMajor No doubt there's some putting some lipstick on the pig in my arguments. But you gotta dance with who brung ya, so to speak. I think if DD was coming back, we would've known by now. Common sense says that if it's a decision that is so close they have to wait until the final hours to make, it's going to go for the new opportunity that pays. Oh well. At least DD handled the situation with class and dignity, unlike the RJ posse.
Here's my case for Marcus being better at pg than anywhere else on the floor:
1- Teams sag off of Marcus because of his crappy jump shot. But teams NEVER sag off the ball, because that would leave all the passing lanes wide open. Man to man...zone...they all are based on playing the ball. This means that teams sagging into the paint when Marcus was playing the wing aren't going to do that if he's bringing up the ball. So, I don't think teams are going to be able to sag off him with the ball in his hands.
2- Last year, after Doke went down, and Vick went MIA, they started driving him to the basket, and he scored 20, 18, and 15 in 3 consecutive conference games. So, we know he has the ability to drive the ball. He will probably be one of our last options, but we know he can get to the hoop. And he made many really good assists on those drives.
- The Achilles heel is the shooting. But, like many other players growing into the game, Marcus's season was a case of shooting much better in conference than he did in pre-conference. In conference play he made 47 out of 88 shots altogether for a nifty 53%. Now, he didn't suddenly turn into Svi from 3, but he did make 8 out of 25 for a 32% clip. 33% from 3 equates to a 50% two point shooter, so I don't think he's as far off as many think.
4- The best ball hawker since Russ Rob would now be essentially playing on the ball every play. His 1.4 steal rate could rise considerably playing on the ball. 2 - 2.5, maybe? Add in a 5.0 asst rate, with 10 ppg, and you have a valuable guy any way you look at it. Yes, he's going to be a pass first guy, nor will he blow away defenses with his speed like a Frank or a DD, but he could end up being very valuable in his own way.
@HighEliteMajor He's not a burner. He does pass one test though- he was ranked 54th when he signed with us. Definitely not a OAD. He is headed into his 3rd year, so he is what you and I keep saying we want...lol.

I read where the Dotson family was upset over a story a week ago saying he would be back. They adamantly denied they had made any decision at all. I mean...if Dotson doesn't come back, i'll bet we'll see Derryck Thornton's name come popping up. Ugh...
