@Texas-Hawk-10 They are saying that they signed this a month ago.

New Zealand breakers • May 28, 2019 04:16 PM

Hey...more power to him. If you can make a million bucks, then go for it. Just don't use us with a bunch of bullshit to self-promote yourself. Be honest about it, dude. That's all. RJ Hampton...Mr. complete waste of time...

RJ Hampton • May 28, 2019 01:40 PM

@BShark That was a punk tweet. Oh well. Good luck, RJ...don't let the door hit you where the Lord split ya..

New Zealand breakers • May 28, 2019 01:09 PM

@HighEliteMajor Contrast him to Silvio getting reinstated, or Devonte talking about KU ... can you imagine what a cluster **** it would've been if his daddy had moved to Lawrence, and started "helping" us with the coaching? LeVar Ball revisited...

RJ Hampton • May 28, 2019 12:17 PM

@BShark Maybe you're right...just wondered why his profile picture was now upside down....

RJ Hampton • May 28, 2019 12:16 PM

If we don't get Dotson back...and Q won't come back... are we looking at Marcus running point?

RJ Hampton • May 28, 2019 10:34 AM

He has his Twitter photo upside down, so I guess he means down under by that. I'd much rather have a 2nd year Dotson over him anyway. 8:30 AM Eastern is 8:30PM in Australia. Next...

P.S. What do you want to bet that Jalen either stays with Michigan, or goes to UNC now?

RJ Hampton • May 27, 2019 05:56 PM

It makes it concerning to me that Daddy wants to get so involved.

Silvio's Main Role - 4 Or 5 • May 27, 2019 02:57 PM

@stoptheflop I think Norm Roberts agrees with you.

“He practiced every day with us, took part in individual workouts,” Roberts said of 2018-19. “Even though he was on the scout team at practice, he had to go against those other guys (starters) all the time. We tried to make Silvio first option on the scout team. We played a lot through him to let him become more aggressive. We did a lot of that with him.”

Can he shoot?

Roberts said De Sousa since his freshman year, “has improved his shot. He can shoot from 15 to 18 feet pretty well. It’s something he has to work on, get better at. He’s not a knockdown three-point shooter. That’s not his game.

I thought he was a 5...

Roberts does not label De Sousa a 4 or a 5.

“He’s one of our bigs. The 4 and the 5 do the same thing,” Roberts said. “We can play him multiple positions. He can do so many different things. Udoka will play close (to basket) whereas Silvio can play somewhere away from the basket. David, Mitch ... all our bigs can do a lot of different things.”

Can he keep up with stretch 4s away from the basket?

“Silvio will be the dimension of strength and athleticism we did not have enough of last year when Doke went down. He (De Sousa) brings us rebounding on both ends and can switch ball screens and guard some out there a bit. He has to get better at that (defense).

So, it appears to me that Silvio will get the opportunity to play the 4 along side Doke, provided he can defend. Also, Doke averages around 20 minutes a game, so I think Silvio will get plenty of playing time.

Redshirting a Big • May 27, 2019 10:44 AM

We're going around in circles. I love TROB. I love Silvio. They're both badasses. They're both Jayhawks. Nuff said.

Redshirting a Big • May 26, 2019 07:15 PM

@jayballer73 I always wanted coach to play TROB at the same time as the Morii, but he never did. Not once.

Redshirting a Big • May 26, 2019 05:51 PM

TROB was quick- lightening quick. And he had a sweet midrange jumper. Silvio has a way to go before he gets to that comparison level. Lest we forget:

New 2019 Recruiting • May 26, 2019 01:19 AM

@FarmerJayhawk Can Jalen defend at the 3? I'm afraid he's a 4 hiding out at the 3.

Redshirting a Big • May 25, 2019 12:47 PM

@HighEliteMajor Dotson/RJ/Ochai or Wilson/SDS/Doke. That would be my lineup. Not sure that Bill will play it that way, though. He might go with Silvio as a backup against speedy 4 out teams. Then the question becomes who plays the 4? Wilson doesn't really want to play the 4, does he?

Redshirting a Big • May 25, 2019 11:17 AM

I found this. Silvio going up against 7 footer Bol Bol, and 7'3" Conner Vanover, and working them over:

SILVIO IS FREE • May 25, 2019 12:57 AM

@BeddieKU23 It's also going to be real hard for our opponents to score at the rim.

SILVIO IS FREE • May 24, 2019 10:15 PM

I never allowed myself to enjoy the thought of Silvio coming back. I'm glad that Jeff Long got a big win, our program got a big win, and most importantly, that Silvio got a big win. Now I can celebrate, and I am licking my chops thinking of what a front line of Silvio and Doke would do on the boards. Put a 6'8" Jalen Wilson at the 3, and add an RJ Hampton along with a Dotson, and we're going to be a complete matchup nightmare for other teams. I really think Silvio is athletic enough to play the 4, and I sure hope he's been practicing his jumper all this time. We're going to flat dominate teams on the boards.

Redshirting a Big • May 24, 2019 08:43 PM

I hope he lets Silvio play at the 4. I cringe thinking of him as simply a backup.

DeSousa Tracker • May 24, 2019 05:49 PM

OMG...

SILVIO IS FREE • May 24, 2019 05:48 PM

HOT DIGGITY DAWG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAHTSEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DeSousa Tracker • May 24, 2019 11:36 AM

@jayballer73 I was quoting Matt, so it's clear as mud. I did find this, though:

https://www.si.com/college-basketball/2019/nba-draft-ncaa-agent-rules-changes-explained ↗

DeSousa Tracker • May 24, 2019 01:13 AM

@whaleboy I missed that whole article. I hope it's right. i'm deliberately being as pessimistic about this offseason as I possibly can because then I can feel good if something goes right. Dotson would certainly help.

DeSousa Tracker • May 23, 2019 11:42 PM

@jayballer73 No sir. If Silvio doesn't pull his name out of the draft by Wednesday, he won't be eligible to play with us, even if they drop the prison sentence.

Underclassmen have until Wednesday to pull their names out of the 2019 draft pool, therein retaining their college eligibility for the 2019-20 season.

DeSousa Tracker • May 23, 2019 11:41 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I read this from Matt Tait today:

Underclassmen have until Wednesday to pull their names out of the 2019 draft pool, therein retaining their college eligibility for the 2019-20 season.

I think they had discussed the idea of a player not being drafted being able to go back to their school, but I don't think it's in effect yet. So, if the NCAA does not make a decision on Silvio by next Wednesday, and Silvio doesn't pull out of the draft, then he will not be able to come back, even if they rule in his favor.

DeSousa Tracker • May 23, 2019 11:36 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 ty....i read that a while back.

DeSousa Tracker • May 23, 2019 10:28 PM

@whaleboy Do you have a link? I looked all over CBS, and never found a word about Dotson.

DeSousa Tracker • May 23, 2019 05:16 PM

@jayballer73 Oh. Ok. I didn't realize that had passed. So, they'll screw him by not reducing his prison sentence then.

DeSousa Tracker • May 23, 2019 04:19 PM

@wissox Oh no...his conspiracy theories don't hold a candle to my NCAA theories....lmao...

DeSousa Tracker • May 23, 2019 04:18 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 My understanding is he has to
either declare to stay in or come back by the 29th ...

DeSousa Tracker • May 23, 2019 04:16 PM

@wissox Ya, buddy. People like me...who are paranoid anyway... will have a field day spinning NCAA conspiracy theories after this latest fiasco...

DeSousa Tracker • May 23, 2019 04:14 PM

We'll get a decision the day after the final day of the declaration of the draft...May 30th. Book it, Danno..

New 2019 Recruiting • May 22, 2019 04:11 PM

@approxinfinity Couldn't Grimes play the 3 if Dotson comes back, and the 2 if he doesn't?

New 2019 Recruiting • May 22, 2019 02:52 PM

@Kcmatt7 I agree with you 100%. The results are the same. I was responding to a request by someone suggesting that Bill tell the guy he's not welcome here. A 5 star guy- a guy that started every game last year. It's a question of how Bill finesses it, so I'm on the same page with you. You can say the same thing w/o saying the same thing.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 22, 2019 12:23 PM

@Kcmatt7 I'm sure he indirectly manipulates the roster, but he never comes out and says you aren't welcome here. Not to 5 star recruits.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 22, 2019 11:07 AM

@Marco If we didn't let Q come back, then every coach in America would tell a recruit..." If you go to KU, and you test the waters with the NBA, Coach Self won't take you back, even if you want to return". We would never get a Top 100 recruit again. That's a really questionable idea, imo. Maybe Q isn't as bad as you think. Perhaps he gets better...alot better by coming back.

@FarmerJayhawk I love that kid.

DeSousa Tracker • May 21, 2019 06:31 PM

@Marco Silvio won't be allowed to play next year, imo. Until that is determined, there's no reason to rush him off the stage. We owe him that, at the very least.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 21, 2019 06:13 PM

@Woodrow DeSouza insurance.

2020 Recruiting • May 21, 2019 01:49 PM

@HighEliteMajor The other problem with "OAD" is if "Johnny Top Recruit" happens to suck, Bill can't just bench him w/o massive criticism. Case in point...Q at times last year...

DeSousa Tracker • May 21, 2019 12:09 AM

SDS, we hardly knew ye. Good luck in your future endeavors.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 20, 2019 08:09 PM

@BShark I thought Jalen was a 3/4. How does Grimes factor into Jalen's playing time?

DeSousa Tracker • May 20, 2019 04:21 PM

We'll get a decision May 30th, the day after the last day of declaration of staying/returning.

Hypothetical For Next Season • May 19, 2019 02:52 PM

@Bosthawk I have real mixed feelings about calling out parents as good or bad based on whether their kids go to school, or go pro. If you wanted to substitute the phrase "non-delusional parents" for " good parents", then I could certainly feel more at ease. I'm sure they've been told for years their son was a lock for the NBA, so they would naturally feel the problem with Q's game last year was he wasn't handling the ball, running the offense, which was a big change for him. Which is why Q said we hadn't seen 50% of his game. The NBA combine is currently blowing up their hopes and dreams because it is exposing it wasn't the system he was in that made him play so poorly. Big dreams die hard, and I'm not going to fault Q or his parents for not seeing this as clearly as those of us who aren't nearly as emotionally invested in the situation.

As for not valuing the college bb experience, I blame the whole system for that. How many Top 10 recruits are coming back for their 2nd year of college? Not very many. The NBA, and the allure of huge money has cheapened the whole college experience. You have a guy like Wayne Selden, who wasn't even drafted, who made 1.5 million last year. If Wayne is retained by the Bulls next year, he will have made 4.7 million dollars in his first 3 years. If we amortize that over a 30 year period, he would average $157,000 a year. I am sure there are lots of KU grads who wouldn't mind that.

RJ Hampton • May 18, 2019 06:43 PM

@KirkIsMyHinrich LMAO.....PHOF!

Hypothetical For Next Season • May 18, 2019 05:49 PM

@ajvan Even though Wayne was ranked 11th the year he signed with KU, I don't think Wayne was being touted as a Top 5 mock NBA draft pick b4 the season started like Q. So, Q has a longer drop than Wayne, and it could take more time for "rubber meets the road" with Q. I think HEM nailed it when he said that if Q comes back feeling somewhat "victimized", then it's "stick a fork in him" time. If Q opens his eyes and ears, and quits believing the hype, and starts to give his all, then he has a chance to probably be a good player for us. I hope for the best, because he did have several really good games for us. But just like the NBA combine illustrates, Q is maddenly inconsistent. First game, he puts up 9 points, and shows up all over the stat sheet. 2nd game he is "Lost In Space"...goes 1 for 9, takes an absolutely horrible shot when the game is on the line, and completely destroys whatever momentum he built up in the 1st game. He's immature...he needs to grow up.

Hypothetical For Next Season • May 18, 2019 02:55 PM

@HighEliteMajor I can't, for the life of me, wrap my head around what made him think he could just waltz into the NBA. Yesterday he was 1 for 9, and made some really terrible decisions at the end of the game. Would he be the new Vick? Hopefully, if we do take Q back, the NBA debacle will so crush him that he turns over a new leaf, and decides to unpack the bags, pick up the lunch pail, and gets to work. Who knows...Selden was able to come back, and get much better. If he comes back, will he be Selden...or Vick?

Hypothetical For Next Season • May 18, 2019 02:38 PM

@ajvan Effort. Attitude. Humility. Hard work. Maybe getting slapped in the head with reality will wake Q up to how much work he has to do to even possibly get to the NBA level. I just wonder how he could've imagined having the year he had that the NBA was in his immediate future. That's pretty detached from the real world.

Combine Invites • May 17, 2019 11:55 PM

@wissox Grimes didn't announce his intention to "test the waters" like Dotson did. He just announced he was gone to the NBA draft. Dotson left the door open to come back with Coach, and the media, unlike Grimes. So, Grimes floating a comeback to KU is truly a surprise. If Doke had been healthy enough to go to the combine this year, I don't think he would've come back to KU. He went to the combine the year before. We're talking about 20 year old kids here, and we can only go on what they tell us. They change their minds like...20 year old kids.
