@Fightsongwriter Did Andrew Wiggins come off as materialistic and not giving effort to you?
I have rewatched the game. Winning this game on a travel by Svi? I'll take it. There were so many horrible calls against KU. Those calls kept KSU in the game. The big man for KSU , Johnson hooked on just about every spin move to the basket. Those are offensive fouls. He should have fouled out early in the 2nd half. Wade, and the guards for KSU pushed off and used arm bars to push off which should have been offensive fouls as well. Most were blatant, especially when Josh Jackson got shoved out of the way twice on the same possession. So, I will definitely take the win on a missed call by the refs. They missed more than enough calls that went KSU's way.
As far as our defense goes, what else can this team do. We started the year out guarding, and all that got us was the whole team in foul trouble Sometimes its better to give up two than get whistled for a foul. Hopefully, we can find a way to play aggressive and avoid foul trouble.
@HawkChamp Win all of our home games and 3/4 of the road games is a winning formula.
@BeddieKU23 He is trying not to pick up a 2nd foul.
@BeddieKU23 Devonte? Whats wrong with the refs?
Go Mason.
@BShark Refs not calling fouls at all.
Bragg has got to finish those.
@BeddieKU23 Everything is not going to be peaches and cream. TCU came to ball. Hopefully, we get it together.
TCU is 11-1 with an excellent coach. Should be a tough one.
@HawkChamp Agreed!
This is a good learning experience. Sometimes shots don't fall and things don't go your way. Not to mention being on the road. Gut check time.
@HawkChamp They have to guard us too!
@justanotherfan Loved your post. Thanks!
@justanotherfan One of the biggest Draft Day mistakes ever was when the Sixers passed on Paul Pierce and drafted Larry Hughes. I think Iverson and Pierce could have one it all together. Remember the NBA went away from strictly a man to man defense to allowing a zone defense to stop Iverson. Trying to check Pierce and Iverson one on one would have been a defensive nightmare. Bottom line is the Sixers blew it!
@jayballer54 Daryl Dawkins straight from High School to the NBA. Passed away 2015 at the age of 58. I am still a fan. What an amazing athlete! As far as underrated, I loved watching Andrew Toney from the Sixers. He would have been great if not for foot injuries. He was known as "The Boston Strangler" for getting the best of the Celtics in the early 80's. Truly underrated.
@BeddieKU23 3 at home and 3 on the road. That's fair to me. The road games will be good for us. The home games will be great for us. We are probably the biggest game of the year for each of those schools. Imagine how they feel having to play us?
@globaljaybird I like the way you think. We have a great team. We lost one game when the whole team nearly fouled out and that was in overtime. This is another exciting year of Kansas Jayhawk Basketball!
@Crimsonorblue22 I absolutely loved it as well! Good to know!
@Crimsonorblue22 The cameras never went to Self. It was a comment by Fran and in my opinion totally unnecessary. It was a great play by our offense. I would not consider it showboating or trying to show another team up. It was a great defensive play by Jackson to steal the ball. Jackson received a pass up the court from Mason and instead of taking the two for himself, Jackson rewarded the big fella for running the court, by giving him a lob off the glass for a nice slam! Never, have I seen a Freshmen, with the ability to lead as well as follow the way Josh Jackson does. He is a joy to watch and I am so glad he chose Kansas. He makes us better!
@jaybate-1.0 He is still one of us. I am sure Turgeon, Walters, Manning, Boyle, and Haase would love to be the Head Coach at Kansas. Give him time. He will get it together. You make interesting points though, as usual.
@ralster Hard to argue against your statement. Great post!
No doubt, pretty impressive parents! I think Perry's two younger brothers, he has another, both like basketball, but would rather concentrate on their studies. That's the vibe I got and there is nothing wrong with that.
Super nice and extremely funny young man. Once you meet him, you won't forget him! Had the pleasure last year during the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. Very happy he decided to attend KU!
@Crimsonorblue22 I am looking forward to the game tomorrow, but clearly not as much as you! I hope you have an awesome time, capped off with a Kansas victory!!
@Crimsonorblue22 Enjoy!
I love the confidence of the Jackson 5!
This team is just fun to watch. Will be even better when Bragg and Lucas get into the swing of things!
@ralster There may be a game or two where could bombard our opponent with 3's, but not every game under Coach Self. I think Vick, Graham, Svi, and Mason are all capable of getting hot from 3. i don't know if it will ever be a strategy, but if it is an open shot, in the flow of the offense, I am sure they can take it. Long season and we are just getting started.
@Texas-Hawk-10 It is much too early to know if this is a good 3 point shooting team.
@Lulufulu Yes, in that case shirts were printed up and the world was theirs. The night that it happened to them was awful for them. The morning after appeared to be even worse from my vantage point. I was in Indianapolis that weekend. Part of me wanted to laugh. The other part of me already had!
@Texas-Hawk-10 Absolutely nothing wrong with saying it. I couldn't agree more. The lesson is that it is easier said than done. Can we agree on that my friend?
@justanotherfan Josh is young and he just got his first lesson. Never ever under any circumstances tell the media that you are trying to go undefeated. It will backfire more times than not. Better now than game 40 though.
@chriz Pretty obvious Lucas is struggling with his foot issue. That was not last year's Lucas.
R-E-L-A-X! This is why so many teams including Kansas most years play easy games to start the season out. This was a tough game right out the gate. We lost to a team that was shooting lights out from three, nearly 50%. They got on the glass out rebounding us by 11. We have heart. We fought back and we could have just as easily lost this game as won it. All this talk about the season? It hasn't even started for the majority of teams that played "creampuff" games. We got a nice dose of reality. We need to get on the glass and have some of the "Mr. Big Nuts" attitude when taking 3's that we had last season. It's hard to complain about the glass when we left a 7 foot 280 player on the bench for most of the game. We have highly touted freshmen, we need to let them get their feet wet in November, so that they will be ready come March and April. One of the key plays for Indiana was a freshman knocking down a 3 pointer during overtime. We have to start letting it loose and stop playing not to loose. We are extremely talented and on the bright side at least we know what we have to work on. It is definitely fixable.
@BeddieKU23 So true!
Lucas not moving his feet.
Timeout situation not looking good.
Finally! We got the And One!
Vick with the Hawaii Rainbow Classic!
@approxinfinity Excellent!
Graham true from 3!
@brooksmd agreed!
Jackson with the 3 point jack!
@kjayhawks I think you are on to something.
@brooksmd So Mason's dad is playing?
Who is this Mason Jr. I keep hearing about?
@wissox Nah, it just feels like we can play a lot better!
That's twice we were denied the and one!
Deeeeep!
