@BShark Oh I'm sure. And probably Russell Robinson. He played in it before.

@BShark Fair points. And I see he is playing for an Under Armour team now anyways. So maybe I retract everything I said lol.
His dad has always been his AAU coach and they have been UA, Nike and Adidas.
If this will be literally just RJ's decision I do think the pick will be KU. His dad is large and in charge I believe though.
We have such a fantastic track record when "dad's" lead the recruitment.
And I thought we might finally get to have a drama free season for the first time in awhile...
I may watch this year. This group should be fun. I hope they pick up Jamari and T-Rob. Perry may finally get to play some 3 😂
@BShark Well that makes more sense.

FWIW on Rivals Bossi and Corey Evans think we get Precious and Enaruna. And every day that goes by make it less likely Doke leaves...
Evans thinks Memphis for Precious according to the article published like 4 hours ago. But Bossi thinks Kansas. Both do have Enaruna.
I feel very good about us ending up with Hampton. He is an Adidas kid...
https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/late-signing-period-predictions ↗
Crazy to think Will Wade got reinstated. Was really hoping to poach some LSU and Arizona guys.
@BShark I guess. You just knew that we were out of that one from the second they hired Penny. I would have been fine going head to head with just Cal. But there was just too much pressure on the kid to stay home.
I bet Self really wishes he would have just given Nnadji what he wanted now though...
Recruiting this year has been depressing af. Legacy misses. Top target missed. USA Basketball bearing no fruit. Duke is going to steal Stanley away last minute. We clearly wasted time on guys like Wiseman we knew we had no shot at.
Really just an all around suckfest.

@BShark football recruiting is shady af.
The NCAA hardly cares about basketball and that makes 99% of their revenue... they could give two shits about policing football and the 25 new players each school gets every season. That would cost them a fortune.
@HighEliteMajor Ill give it to you. You know how to push buttons.
@HighEliteMajor If you want my response, go dig it up from a year ago. It'll be the same.
@HighEliteMajor I 100% stand by my statement. Pretty sure we did this same song and dance last season. No reason to rehash it.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes, it does let them get some feedback usually.

@BeddieKU23 Just curious - why do you feel like he won't get an invite?
Only about 60 guys, give or take a few, get invited. I very much doubt Silvio cracks the 60 most intriguing players. It's not out of the question, but it's also very unlikely imo.
Besides the 60 guys getting mocked, you have guys going undrafted I know teams will want to see more than Silvio. Kerwin Roach, Martin Brothers, Luke Maye, Donta Hall, Matur Maker.
Throw in some guys from overseas. Throw in a few more guys that inexplicably leave.
I think it will be very hard for Silvio to make the cut as he is not elite size, and has not shown any ability the NBA is currently coveting.
Sounds like we aren't in on this one. Maybe the Dooley connection actually hurt us. Maybe he doesn't want to play in that system again.
They would fit here though. Sounds like they didn’t want to play with Howard again. Just wanted to play good team basketball, not watch Howard play hero ball.

Not even worried yet. At all. As long as Dotson is back this is a tournament team even with just the 7 guys we know.
That’s kind of a low bar. Tournament team?
Well that’s what we play the regular season to get to.

Precious looks great at the Hoops Summit. Worked over Hurt a few times. No doubt in my mind he’ll be a better pro
Hurt looks like a multi year guy to me. I don’t see the frame or athleticism yet... but that’s just one mans opinion.
If Dotson is gone, yea, we’re going to struggle. I don’t think he is though.

@FarmerJayhawk Once concern I have for Doke returning .. we focus all of our preseason efforts on feeding the post and playing through Doke. And then, when we get in a game with a team that plays small, Self lets the other team dictate the style of play and we're in the same spot we've been in much of the time. And, of course, while I'm sure he's been "really working hard" on free throws, he'll be less than 50% again. Actually less than 40%. He was worse last season after supposed work than the year before.
To be fair, we didn’t lose a game with Doke this season. And we didn’t exactly play a softball schedule. And we made a FF built around him with a 4 out run and gun.
Doke is a stud. A defensive presence and an incredibly efficient scorer.

@Kcmatt7 come on down Greedy Williams.
I would rather see us trade back for a 2nd and a 3rd. There is a reason those CBS are falling into the 20s.
@BShark Optimistically speaking, at least the 7 guys that we know will be on the roster next season are a good mix position-wise. We need to find 2 starters still though.
@dylans Oh I saw.... I'm just happy Veach didn't freak out and spend big money somewhere else. It would have been a dynamic duo.
Seriously, how does Dayton still have a job? He lucked in to a WS and will never even be able to replicate a playoff team.

The entire FBI thing has absolutely killed us.And @Kcmatt7 with the understatement of the year ... what a mess this has been.
The only positive I can take from it is that it pissed Bill Self off enough to basically say he is going to be here awhile.

This transfer business is like the mafia, once you think we're out, they pull us back in. Causes the potential for massive attrition when the transfers don't stick around, making the staff need to get more transfers to stagger the open rosters with various classes and a decent depth of talent last minute.
Round and round we go.
Sort of. I mean there is no way they thought we’d be without Silvio next year. The entire FBI thing has absolutely killed us.
What a joke. I’m so incredibly tired of being an Adidas school.
Similar feelings. I wouldn't be upset. I wouldn't be pumped. He's better than an empty scholarship.

All time leading shot blocker at SFA
I got aroused by his defensive stats on sports reference.
And 3PT shooting %s over .400
NVM, here he comes
How do you not pinch hit for Maldonado? Isn't that the point of having Duda on the roster in the first place?
The bullpen is so incredibly bad, Dayton should be fired just for assembling it in the first place.
@dylans That style of play was definitely fun. But a 15 run game with no HRs is really strange...

Watch Bill close on Stanley and Hampton and Doke stays lol.
- PG: Dotson - Mcbride
- SG: Hampton
- SF : Stanley
- PF: Ochai - Garrett
- C: Doke - Big Dave - Mitch
A pipe dream, but it'd be one hell of a group.
I mean, it's not out of the realm of possibility. KU is well positioned with Stanley.
It's not. And that team would be salty af. Really takes convincing Hampton to come play next to Stanley though.
Imagine all the dunks from that group....
Agree but man RJ would be a NEED because of his shooting.
If I were putting in cb picks I'd say
Hurt - Duke (duh)
Stanley - KU
Precious - KU
RJ - Cloudy
I'd love to get Beverly too and that's a winnable recruitment but man that would take some legendary finessing to get Stanley, RJ and Beverly and I just don't see it happening.
My only concern is, if we somehow pulled of Precious, Stanley and RJ, they aren't exactly the most humble of guys... I could see some personallity clash. Or, they could feed off of each other... High risk high reward.

Why hasn't doke decided?
The door may be ajar.
Too injured for the combine and not enough playing time to improve his poor draft stock from last year would be my guess. That’s all it is though.
I'm guessing his circle realizes he won't be playing in the NBA ever. So the choice is do they want to have him go pro in another country and start cashing checks. I would guess Doke loves Lawrence. Hope he stays.
I think signing Ochai helped even more. That article about the food awhile back was great.
Crimsonorblue22 said:

My gut says he's back.
If you're a 1st round pick, leaving is a no brainer. If you are a 2nd round pick, I think leaving is probably the right decision. That's a lot of money still. If you actually do latch on to the roster, it's millions and you're set for life as long as you aren't an idiot. You're very likely to make 6 figures overseas even if the NBA doesn't pan out for you as a 2nd rounder.
All in all, you should become very rich playing basketball if you are projected to get drafted in either round.
If you are not guaranteed to get drafted, I think it is very very very very very stupid to leave. Get your degree or bust your tail for a summer and get yourself in a position to be guaranteed a lot of money to play basketball in the coming years.
I don't have a problem with OADs. But I will say that Grimes is going to go down as one of the most disappointing players we have ever had step foot in the Fieldhouse wearing the Home Whites. Which is really sad.
@dylans Definitely possible. But MoKan Elite isn't exactly known for being a clean organization.

Did Stanley ever visit Oregon?
@Woodrow It is an unfair advantage...
It's just not as unfair as paying guys under the table in cold hard cash and guaranteeing them millions of dollars in endorsements when they're done with college.
Also, just thought about how USA Basketball helped KU exaclty none amount. I don't even know why coaches do it at this point. It hasn't helped a single coach recruit yet. Not even Stumpy or Cal.
RJ still going to finish his AAU season though. Can someone explain to me why they do this? Is it because he still has school to finish? Or because he can get paid under the table all summer if he plays AAU ball?
I still have faith Bill (and Adidas) find a way to fill the roster. Between Hampton, Precious, Dante, Beverly and transfers, we will have a squad next season.
I do still have to wonder about Doke and De Sousa, but I'm sure Bill already knows what's going on with those two.
@dylans I think Self meets with them before and after the season and let's them know what's up. I'm sure he told Grimes if he declared there won't be a spot here for him next season.
@Crimsonorblue22 Oh I know. It's more that George is a bit of an Ass more than anything...
On a bunt. I'm sure George is pissed about that haha. But good for him! It's been a fun story line to follow, and about the only thing that makes it worth watching them right now.
