Weâll get one more shot
Grant looks like a pro out there. Dude is a rocket
That had to be one of the stupidest rules in the book?
Thankfully a game of 3 phases
WHYYYYY JEFF. WHYYYYYY
@webjay and thatâs without having a long TD or something.
You ride JD. But itâs going to be a lingering question week to week if they donât win.
@kjayhawks well also what is wrong with JD? Not even close on his incompletions. The TD to Grim was honestly lucky because it was also a bad throw.
Are we winning this game by 2 scores with Ballard?
@stoptheflop up the middle preferably.
@kjayhawks first drive worried me, but theyâve been nails since
They canât stop our run game. Iâm not sure Iâm passing unless itâs 3rd and long. And if Iâm at the 50, probably not even then.
Noticeable lack of RPOs as well and JD was so good at that.
Run the ball or throw it downfield. We miss AK
@stoptheflop said in Letâs talk Illinois:
I sure think Jalon is running the ball too much. We have very good running backs.
Disappointed with how the staff is using him. But also he shouldnât be throwing lead blocks, and that was on him.
@BShark I think the KSU staff had to decide between giving Avery the bag or Howard. I get the decision. They are a much better team with Howard though.
I thought the same last season tbh.
One takeaway is that this KSU staff knows Avery Johnson cannot throw a football.
Tulane got the hose job. But they blew the game on their own. Fumble recovery for a TD flipped the whole script and so they can really only blame themselves.
Tulane beating themselves⌠wow
KSU does not trust Johnson to throw it down field. Twice theyâve ran 3rd and long.
Tulaneâs QB is going to get PAID this offseason. Stud.
@Crimsonorblue22 outside of two plays it was really a âperfectâ first game.
Passing game is going to light the world on fire this year. Put $5 on JD for heisman.
Players to watch today:
-
87 Leyton Cure - TE - transfer
-
5 Doug Emilien - WR - RS JR and top WR returning in 25-26 season
-
3 Keaton Kubecka - WR - RS fresh
-
25 Harry Stewart - RB - true fresh
-
8 Isaiah Marshall - QB - true fresh
-
95 Dylan Wudke - DE - Transfer
-
91 Dak Brinkley - DE - True fresh
-
45 Dean Miller - DE - RS JR
-
15 DJ Warner - DE - true fresh
-
46 Bai Jobe - DE - transfer
-
13 Dylan Brooks - DE (may still be injured, donât see any updates)
Today the big thing to look at is how the lines on both sides of the ball play. LT is a question mark. DE is a question mark.
The two freshman edge rushers should get big minutes and Iâm hoping to see flashes from Dean Miller.
I also will be watching for any changes to the scheme with a new OC.
Otherwise stay healthy.
That dude would be in the rotation. My goodness
@kjayhawks ehhhh. I think there was plenty of outrage. Some of that was suppressed because he was also suspended for a full season. So he was out of the spotlight so to speak.
There also wasnât an âopposing sideâ to the Watson stuff. Like everyone knew it was bad. So there wasnât debate.

Interesting comments by Harrison B
I was there and I was shocked by what he was saying in real time.
But people have lost their minds over this. Heâs certainly entitled to his opinions and religion. Personally, I just found it to be a really bad graduation speech and something meant for a different event.
The BC grads I know felt the same.
@approxinfinity if heâs anything like me, 12 year old KC Matt will be very face punch able unfortunately
@Crimsonorblue22 a year and a half now. In the throes of toddler tantrums đ
@Crimsonorblue22 just the one, but he keeps me busy
Staffs close rate on transfers is wild.

@Crimsonorblue22 not a fan at all. It was going to wipe out a bunch of local businesses either directly or through increased rents. All for a stadium thatâs in use 81 days per year. The numbers were always fuzzy to the point of changing monthly. None of it made sense and Jackson County folks saw through it.
I think the Royals should have had to commit to a top 15 payroll on average for the life of the tax. 81 times is a lot of times to fill a building, but it has to be mostly full⌠But a perennial loser with ownership that wonât spend money is a non-starter.

@PharmacyHawk What is so righteous about the stance? We are acting as if Morris had gone 10 years without any issues and this 2nd chance was well-deserved.
His first case JUST settled. This entire thing was slimy and greasy AF. The fact that the decision came down to DePaul (who has a total greaseball staff rn) and KU says a lot about KU.
I said this all the way back in July that if Bill is willing to take him on Bill should be willing to bet his job that he won't do anything wrong while here. That is how sure he should have been that Morris was a changed man.
Bill will face literally no consequences for having recruited a rapist to campus and I'm supposed to just shrug my shoulders? Do you really not think Bill deserves ANY criticism for this?
Have you ever heard of being Responsible for your own Actions ? - - keep YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE it's not up to Self to Babysit these kids. They are suppose to be young adults, he can't be each and everyone of these guys pesoanl babysitter -
Are you even allowed within 100 feet of a playground?

No, Bill Self recruited a known predator to campus. And he should be scrutinized as having done so. How he handles the situation is irrelevant, he created the situation in the first place.
Take the inevitable settlement check out of Bill's salary.
Passmore does a lot of Och type things for sure. Multi-year guy but athletes like that you can at least get on the floor early if the effort is there.

Larry Bird and Michael Jordan for example. Neither made any changes when things got really hard. Which is why Bird is Bobby Knightâs greatest success and MJ only retired when his basketball career was done.
This deserved a larger audience.
@benshawks08 Just put him at PG and move Juan to his natural off the ball position.

@dylans I doubt you could afford me anyways.
Let me guess. Iâm assuming youâre fairly young - less than 35 and recently married. You switched jobs a few years back, which implies youâre not a legacy so name recognition is out for pay bumps. Also you had to switch jobs to get a pay raise so youâre not at the top of the pay scale. Average accountant salaries are about 55k, I assume youâre good at your job and earn 6 figures. You work for someone; not self employed , but that caps Income. Your moniker implies you may be in the KC Kansas area, if so less than 8% of households make 200k per year. Given your stance on overcoming adversity I figure youâd last until it got hot in July at best. 3-4 months pay at 16k per month I can handle. But youâd have to be in the top 5% performance wise to command that level of pay. Let me know if youâre interested and qualified.
If you reeeeally want to know Iâm 30 and I make $150k. Let me know if you end up needing an accountant in that pay range. Iâm pretty good.
@approxinfinity I just want Baylor to put up a physical fight. Donât let Texas rest in the 4th
Have to think this is Gundyâs final season in Stillwater
@Kcmatt7 said in 2023 Season Predictions:
I got season tickets this year for the first time. Pretty darn excited to see how it goes.... Below is my W/L projection.
- Missouri State - W â
- Illinois - W â
- @ Nevada - W â
- BYU - W â
- @ UT - L
- UCF - W
- @OSU - W
- OU - L
- @ISU - W
- TTU - W
- KSU - L
- @ Cincy - W
9-3 Regular season.
I really think an 8 or 9 win season happens. The schedule falls PERFECTLY for that to happen. I think they can play ball with OU, TTU, and KSU at home. OSU needs Bowman to be the answer at QB, and I just don't feel like he scares me all that much. Genuinely, every single game except for UT on the road feels like a game we could win this year.
My hopes are definitely too high right now, but man a good season would catapult this program to places it has never been.
@dylans I doubt you could afford me anyways.
@BeddieKU23 I definitely agree with being disappointed we couldn't convince one of them to stay and see the long-term opportunity. I really figured we'd convince one of them to stay under the idea that they'd be competing for a Natty and NIL money would be there.
@AsadZ The initial reaction at the trade deadline by the media/twitter was clearly a massive overreaction...
Royals won at the deadline, period. Even if Ragans and Vasquez regress next year they already showed what the Royals Front Office saw when they made the trade. I don't think you can take that away from them at this point.
Looking at this from a positive standpoint:
- Vinnie will be back in 2024.
- The outfield of Olivares, Velasquez and Melendez can hit the ball.
- Fermin will be back in 24, meaning Salvy/Vinnie can rotate 1B.
From a negative:
1. Absolutely no pitching on this team outside of Ragans. None.
2. 3B is a huge weak spot for this team. Garcia is not the answer.
Ultimately I think the bats are good enough to make a run as long as the injury bug doesn't bite. But there is no depth and NOTHING in AAA. Health will dictate a huge part of the season next year. But they absolutely need to find some pitching. They have a 0% chance of winning 70 games next season without acquiring 5-6 pitchers this offseason and at least a couple of them working out in the starting rotation. They may need to sacrifice some bats for pitching. Ragans, Witt and Salvy are probably the only three guys who should be untouchable.
100% yes any GM would make the trade. If you threw in the RBs, it wouldn't even be a debate.
The things that Andy and Pat could do with Deebo and Kittle might break the NFL.
If anyone of you were in position for a huge promotion that you felt you had worked hard for and the company went with an outside hire instead you'd be updating your resume and you know it. I guarantee you wouldn't be like "you know what, just a little bit of adversity I need to overcome."
I really don't blame Udeh at all. The reality is that there were going to be 10 minutes to compete for at KU (potentially for two years). Or 25-30 somewhere else. I do agree it is unfortunate he stayed in conference because we know what he could become. Everyone is only mad because he's got the potential to be really, really good lol.
The transfer portal is a huge reason that KU Football is where it is at today. Do we think our transfers are a big bunch of wusses who ran away from adversity? Or did they not feel like their previous school was giving them the best opportunity to showcase their talents? Why would we want Gage Keys or Craig Young? Total losers who ran away from adversity. /s
Really stinks gameday already did UT this year. A 4-0 KU in Austin would have been a great gameday.
As of right now I think Gameday should do Notre Dame vs Duke that week. I wish they didnât do Boulder already or Iâd say USC at Colorado.
Oklahoma state sucks. KSU showed if you can pressure Howard he will turn the ball over. ISU sucks.
UCF will be a tough game to win. Cincy looks like theyâll at least put up a fight.
Still it looks like this team should go bowling. Nevada, ISU, OSU and BYU should be wins. UCF, TTU, KSU, and Cincy could be wins.
Still feel like we are on pace to see an 8+ win season to me.
@BShark Really like him. Talk about recruiting athletes...
