Honestly I thought this was way overblown. Sure my wife would be pissed and a bit embarrassed. But this is no Bobby Petrino incident.
Will be interesting to see if they let Cincy in the playoffs after they go undefeated and just beat ND.
I didn’t get to watch much - did we look better than a year ago?
Any good Bill quotes about who looks good? Has historically been the kiss of death.

In case anyone cares Duke got #2 Derrick Lively.
Nike is going to make sure Scheyer gets what he needs... Need to make sure that the transition goes as well as possible
Yep, gave one away.
There was some KU football things that happened today. Special teams is atrocious still. Snap over the QBs head. Etc.
I think LL is a bit too conservative for a team that needs to catch a few breaks to win a game. And our punt team and defense is so bad that it isn’t worth punting if we are anywhere near the 50.
But on to next week.
@BeddieKU23 I think the crazier thing is what this says about Notre Dame...
If you're a Notre Dame fan you should be worried.
KSU officially on upset watch
Just have to keep Bean from getting poached and they can make a big jump from this year to next year
@nwhawkfan offense having a big bounce back game no doubt
My goodness. KU football could be back
I haven’t been able to watch, but looks like the offense is doing things at least
From what I saw I was relatively happy with how they played. Defense looked improved. We'll see how that looks the next game, but they did what they had to do to win.
I thought the offense didn't try to be anything they aren't, and that is something I really appreciate. We aren't going air raid with some noodle arm QB. We aren't running power I behind a small offensive line. We are basically lining up and running some spread option with a mobile QB.
Now the offense has a lot of potential improvements they can make... And the offensive line is still questionable at best... But it was a good enough start to the LL era.
Honestly one of my fears is those schools coming in and leaping B12 teams in the next realignment if we give them the platform of the B12 now.
@BShark I guess I mean more like office workers. Seems silly to me.
I know a local family owner business that forced people back this week and 3 notices from GOOD employees have been put in. The place is about to turn upside down
@BShark It is highly likely at this point I think... And yea the winter is going to be brutal. I'm expecting lockdowns again. But the funny thing to me is all these work places are having people come back as if they aren't going to be sending everyone right back home in 2-3 months.
That is fun to watch. A bit more touchy than I think it should be from the refs but it was cool
A contract wasn’t even signed in this alliance thing btw. Totally meaningless marketing ploy
I do not envy the decision makers in Lawrence rn. But I still think KU to the B10 makes sense for both parties... KU is a rock solid add for any of the conferences. Good location. Good alumni base. Good academics. Elite Basketball program. Good Tier 3 rights. Great facilities everywhere but the football stadium. And then throw in the KU/Adidas contract which is going for the next decade.
Time will tell, but when top programs like KU get their NIL programs running to the fullest I can't imagine that players aren't making close to that.
I only got to see highlights, but what I saw was amazing
@approxinfinity This was amazing timing for me. Thanks for giving me a space to vent.
I have been working non-stop 80 hour weeks for over a month. Full disclosure, I am an accountant and so this is our audit time so it is crazier than usual. I recently got a big promotion at work. I actually had the option to stay where I am or take a new job, and both were huge pay raises.
The job I didn't take paid a little less, had worse benefits, and was less overall responsibility.
The job I took pays a little more, has amazing benefits, and puts me on a course to future success and financial security.
The last month I've been questioning this decision non-stop. I've literally broken down in tears twice in the last week from being so overwhelmed, and all I can think about is that I think that there is a kcmatt in a parallel universe who took the other job and is much happier.
I would quit, but I just hired two people who I basically hand-picked recruited to come over. So all I can do right now is bury my head and push forward. And it will get better... I just don't really know when. As soon as the audit is over, I have to catch back up. I have over 400 unanswered emails. I have my usual monthly/weekly/quarterly things to do. It is just complete chaos.
Anyways, wish me luck these coming weeks. I honestly I feel worse for my wife... We've been married for 38 days and I've barely seen her since the honeymoon. She's been great and understanding, but I know it has to be wearing on her too.
I’m cool with a PAC-12 and B12 Merger. And KU being apart if it if that is what happens.
Just don’t want to be in the AAC or outside looking in somehow
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes B12 P12 merger
PAC-12 Merger talks happening...
@ICThawk A lot can change over the next few years. I think B12 schools need to play hardball with OU and UT about that buyout.
KU absolutely needs to take a couple of steps in the right direction with the Football program. They don't need to be Top 25 good, but they need to be good enough that KC area people want to watch.
@mayjay said in Self Has Covid:
@Crimsonorblue22 After all, everyone knows getting people to wear masks or get vaxxed has such great benefits to any would be dictator.
This definitely made me chuckle...
@RockkChalkk The odds of you dying from covid (if you catch it) are 600k in 35M - 1.7%
The odds of you dying from the vaccine are 6000 in 165M - which is something like .003%. Or 1 in 27,500.
The average age of those hospitalized from covid in the KC area in July was 34. Please do your civic duty. Help to break the chain. Help to protect others. The process is really easy and streamlined.
Imagine a Day 0 Water Crisis scenario somewhere in the U.S. right now... Would you see panic and people hoarding/guzzling water or would you see people actually band together and help thy neighbor? We suck as a people right now.
I'm not sure when the switch happened, but the United States I grew up learning about had people who seemingly cared for one another.... Now it just seems like anything that is an inconvenience makes people turn into selfish assholes. And the worst part is that people don't even have to use sound logic to justify being such a shitty asshole, there is plenty of high profile people carrying that cross for you in the name of "just having an opinion" or "just asking questions."
The vaccine is safe. The vaccine is effective AF compared to a flu shot. Yes it is your right not to get one. No you don't deserve to have zero consequences if you don't get it. Yes you are the reason this is being prolonged if you don't get it. No we shouldn't be careless in the near term for the sake of "business" or "living life" or "the economy" just because you can't be bothered to take the time to go perform your civic duty.
Id be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous…
I personally think the B12 stays alive - even if we leave.
- KSU
- ISU
- TTU
- TCU
- Baylor
- Houston
- UCF
- Cincinnati
- SMU
- OSU
- WVU
There is a future if enough schools want to stay.
@BeddieKU23 Funny thing will be if the B12 somehow ends up surviving even as a lesser conference... Which is something I think is a real possibility.
@AsadZ I’d sell everyone I could from the MLB roster. But Dayton is in LaLa land and thinks this team is close to competing.
The pitching just isn’t there
@FarmerJayhawk OH NO $5 A MONTH!!!
@justanotherfan Rumors SF is interested in Duffy.
@HemisphereHawk Would love to hear the reason why college sports are now over just because a few players are getting paid now?
That video really makes you see how good Remy is at using a ball screen. Master operator of the Pick and Roll.
Yea my fear is we end up just replacing OU and Texas with like Houston and Memphis.
Have to hope we can navigate all of this and come out ahead.
@BigBad I mean literal baseball farm systems only have 10% make the pros.
If you just use P5 schools as the sample size I’d guess it is more than 1%
Having 2006-2007 flashbacks.
Beard is going to win a championship there imo.
I'm really high on the Yesufu/Remy additions. Both can just turn into a microwave. Both can get to the basket. Both should be massive improvements in the transition game (the amount of points left on the floor during a 2 on 1 break last year was embarrassing).
These are things that this team really lacked a year ago.
I'm confident this is a Top 5 team. Lots of shooting. Lots of depth. Plenty of offensive playmaking to avoid the stagnant periods of a year ago.
Athleticism is still an issue, but I think we more than make up for it.
Meh - Don't see it happening at all.
NCAA will end up with a class action lawsuit that pays out a ton of money to former athletes for lost earnings. But that will be the end of that.
Wish they could just cut him rn. I imagine they have to let the legal side play out before they can do anything considering the cap implications.
My bet is they start putting his salary in escrow until this is all resolved
@Marco time will tell. I think the transfer rules have hurt mid-majors far more than the NIL will.
Gonzaga never happens if Mark Few leaves. He is the reason that program is what it is. Has nothing to do with NIL. Everything to do with a coach who found ways to get top end talent to his school. He recruited abroad better than anyone else. He took transfers. He developed well.
I mean I’d love it. But I don’t see how it shakes out without giving someone the boot. And Dave is the only one who would make sense…
Could this be the first “Walk-on” and then everything gets paid for by NIL stuff? That is a future unintended consequence I see..
