Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 06:27 PM

Can make 3's for days but can't sink free throws.

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 06:24 PM

I mean I know OK State isn't a great defensive team but 16/29 and 11/15 from 3 in the 2nd half is just other-worldly. What's gotten into Michigan lately?

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 06:14 PM

@BShark Nancy boy is a good call.

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 06:09 PM

I mean on some of these, they've been open. Some of them have been from near half-court. And one that I just saw was a step-back with a hand in his face.

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 06:07 PM

15/27. It's kind of amazing Ok State is only down by 4 points.

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 06:01 PM

@BShark They did win in Morgantown, though.

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 05:57 PM

@BeddieKU23 Ya 12-23 from 3 for Michigan. They can't miss today.

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 05:54 PM

And Oklahoma St., after losing their first 6 in conference, then won 10 of their last 11. In fact the only games they lost after that point were to Iowa State, Baylor, and Kansas, and all of those games were by single digits. It should be apparent to anyone with a pulse that OK State is much better than a 10 seed, and certainly much better than the Vanderbilt/Northwestern teams we saw play yesterday. Easily a 7 seed in my mind the way they are playing right now.

If the ACC is the best conference and the Big12 is 7-1 against them, what does that make the Big12?

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 05:45 PM

So Vandy is a 9 seed and Minnesota is a 5, but KState barely gets in and OK State is a 10? Give me a break. People whining about WSU being a 10 when OSU beat them by 17 earlier this season. OK State should be a 6 or a 7.

Anyone Else • Mar 17, 2017 05:33 PM

@BShark Because he's lost in the 1st round the past two seasons. But ya, not expecting much in terms of halftime adjustments.

Anyone Else • Mar 17, 2017 05:31 PM

The only way NMSU is going to beat you is by shooting 3's. So keep playing a zone, Scott Drew.

Day 1 Tournament Day Thread • Mar 16, 2017 07:41 PM

@BeddieKU23 That's what I mean, though. Notre Dame's ability to handle the press will be largely determined by how the officials decide to blow the whistle. If the game is called tight it will take a lot of pressure off of ND's guards and mitigate a major strength of West Virginia's. It will also allow the best free throw shooting team in the country to get to the line frequently. If the officials let them play a little bit, I like West Virginia to win the game.

As I write this, though, WVU only leads by 3. Need to win this game first.

Day 1 Tournament Day Thread • Mar 16, 2017 07:24 PM

Assuming WVU wins this game, I'm curious to see how the game is called when they play Notre Dame. If the game is called tight then WVU is probably going to lose because ND is the best free throw shooting team in the country. Since Notre Dame is Notre Dame, and is in the ACC, I can see them shooting about 40 free throws against WVU.

Day 1 Tournament Day Thread • Mar 16, 2017 06:25 PM

I have West Virginia advancing to the Sweet Sixteen so I thought I'd take a chance with Princeton. It was a fun game, I can't be mad.

FAVORITE DAY OF THE YEAR • Mar 16, 2017 06:23 PM

This is my favorite day of the year. This is Christmas for me.

Day 1 Tournament Day Thread • Mar 16, 2017 06:21 PM

I picked Princeton to win. I like the way they play basketball. So close!

The suspense!!! • Mar 15, 2017 03:35 AM

Well I wanted Wake to win the game, but if there's a silver lining it's that a Big12 team advances and an ACC team is eliminated. Big12 now 7-1 against the best conference in the country.

The suspense!!! • Mar 15, 2017 01:49 AM

Get off of the court, Weber. This is getting old. Wake needs to run a big down the sideline to physically remove Weber from the court...

1st Round Upsets • Mar 14, 2017 03:37 AM

@BShark Alright, but you'll have to come to Colorado because I don't feel like driving through Kansas.

The suspense!!! • Mar 14, 2017 03:33 AM

I love Danny Manning and I can't stand Bruce Weber. Go Wake Forest.

1st Round Upsets • Mar 13, 2017 11:06 PM

@BShark Is that you, Melvin?

1st Round Upsets • Mar 13, 2017 08:37 PM

@BShark "ISU will run circles around Purdue and kill them with treys."

They're going to need to make about 15 or more 3-pointers to win that game.

1st Round Upsets • Mar 13, 2017 08:32 PM

@BShark Do you have ISU beating Purdue then in the round of 32? Iowa St has lost 10 games this season and in all of them they were outrebounded by the opposing team. Purdue is one of the better rebounding teams in the country and they'll probably be like +10 or +15 on the glass against ISU. Also, ISU has nobody to stop Swanigan. I wouldn't be surprised if he went for like 30 and 15 against ISU. In general, I don't pick Big10 teams to advance far in the tournament other than Wisconsin or Michigan St, but I kind of like Purdue this season.

Seth Greenberg looks like Uncle Fester from The Addams Family...

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:57 PM

I'm a little bit worried about a sweet sixteen matchup with Iowa St, but Iowa St would probably have to beat Purdue in order for that to happen. And Purdue is a bad matchup for Iowa St. Purdue has a 6'10 forward who is averaging 18.5 points and 12.6 rebounds per game named Caleb Swanigan. He's a legit NPOY candidate and Iowa State doesn't have anyone who can match up with him. Purdue is also a pretty good rebounding team and Iowa State is not. I don't think ISU is getting by Purdue.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:21 PM

So by my count:

9 ACC (60%)
7 Big East (70%)
7 Big 10 (50%)
6 Big 12 (60%)
5 SEC (36%)
4 PAC 12 (33%)

Committee obviously didn't think much of the PAC12. Arizona could have been a 1 seed, they are a 2. Oregon could have been a 2 seed they are a 3. UCLA is a 3. Cal got left out.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:10 PM

@BeddieKU23 Only team that I thought was kind of snubbed is Illinois St.

Syracuse has 14 losses. I'm going to enjoy listening to boeheim whine.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:05 PM

That's not a bad draw for WVU.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:01 PM

Gonzaga/Arizona/WVU probably 1,2,3 in the West now.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:59 PM

That's a really tough draw for Kentucky.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:58 PM

I generally cheer for Big12 teams to advance, but I will be cheering for Danny and Wake to beat the grapes.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:56 PM

WSU a 10 seed? Wow...

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:53 PM

Miami is pretty good. I'd rather play Michigan St.

  1. TCU is not the worst team in the Big 12.
  2. Kansas was playing without Josh Jackson.
  3. Kansas is currently rated 2nd in RPI and 3rd in overall SOS out of all teams in the country.
  4. Kansas has a 90% chance (courtesy of Teamrankings.com) to be a #1 seed.
  5. ESPN is a cheerleader for the ACC in basketball the way they are for the SEC in football. Don't pay attention to Joe Lunardi.
  6. UNC lost to Duke tonight.

Right now there are 3 locks for #1 seeds (Villanova, Gonzaga, Kansas). The 4th 1 seed will either be the PAC12 champion or North Carolina.

I want Duke AND Louisville to lose. Unfortunately it's the ACC, so they'll both win.

Big 12 Tournament of tears • Mar 09, 2017 08:59 PM

@BShark It's fun to not play defense.
