Mahomes • Nov 08, 2021 12:26 AM

I dvr'd the game, am watching it now - 14:15 left in the 3rd. The Chiefs are up 13-0 against a sans-Rodgers Packers team.

Mahomes is bigtime struggling (Love thankfully struggling even more), and by my count is lucky to have not been picked off atleast three times so far and that Kelce is athletic enough to go up and get badly thrown balls though he is wide open.

Mahomes has lost his confidence, is pulling his punches putting hardly no zip on the ball.

Non-KU Games • Nov 07, 2021 06:27 PM

@jayballer67 But the pre-season projections hardly ever pan out for the SEC though, do they?

@Texas-Hawk-10 nor would I. But the question remains, aren't most of them Midwest?

Dead money article • Nov 06, 2021 02:56 PM

That's a massive hit...

Non-KU Games • Nov 06, 2021 01:20 PM

@Kcmatt7 I wasn't. All is not well at UK, last year proof enough for me. And they play in a fairly weak conference, and could not beat anyone.

@KirkIsMyHinrich Is it just me, or does the NCAA tend to focus mostly on Midwestern non-Nike schools?

Oklahoma St. is a Nike school though.

I wasn't sure if they were or weren't, but that aside does it not seem that most schools being scrutinized and more importantly being punished are of the Midwestern variety?

Early Michigan St thoughts • Nov 05, 2021 04:11 PM

I think that Izzo will be gently coaxed into retirement very soon. It happens to the best and all of them, they lose what helped them win - their vigor and youth. It happened to Roy and K, and seems to be happening to Calipari his recruiting classes aside. Izzo is a shell of what he used to be as a coach.

I am going to have to snatch me up some ESPN+ this year myself. I want to see the vast majority of Jayhawk games

Jalen • Nov 03, 2021 12:54 PM

@drgnslayr What about how it can potentially hurt or even end the future of someone who is not drunk?

Jalen • Nov 01, 2021 04:13 PM

@Kcmatt7 Will probably allow both of them to play more than they would have. That Wilson will be suspended there is no doubt, the only question for how long?

Jalen • Nov 01, 2021 01:41 PM

@AsadZ Right. It's not like he doesn't have a few bucks in his wallet. Coach will make an example of him, and he needs to.

USMNT • Oct 31, 2021 01:57 AM

How many more matches do we have to win to qualify for the World Cup? I mean, for real, it's like it never ends. Serious... How many more, we've beaten damn near all of Central America but for one, how many more?

Silence of the flock • Oct 31, 2021 01:49 AM

@BShark I don't about you, but I think that the NFL - the whole product - basically sucks. Give me college ball and the rivalries any day.

Big12/national football • Oct 31, 2021 01:44 AM

Caleb Williams, a true frosh, might damn well win the Heisman. OU totally mauled TT today. Sorry, but yeah, I like OU football. Basketball? My Jayhawks always.

Kansas starting 5 • Oct 30, 2021 01:39 PM

@FarmerJayhawk man, I was afraid of that.

Clay Helton • Oct 28, 2021 12:38 AM

Napier would be a great hire, no brainer with him already being in state. The MSU coach is 14-12.

Pressuring the ball, 3/4 if not fullcourt... Hmm, where have I heard that before?

Big 12 expansion • Oct 27, 2021 08:28 PM

If the B1G were looking to expand they would be fools to not include Kansas. That being said, maybe it is for the best. Texas hasn't done anything in football or basketball for awhile, OU in football yeah and occasionally in basketball.

But we gained Cincinnati who is doing well in football (hope they keep their coach) and can and has done well in basketball, ditto BYU and Houston too. UCF is not a chump in football, and is building a basketball program too. Money? Hard to beat Texas, but what did they give to the conference? Not much. Don't they have their own network?

We need a Big12 Network,,, and we need to move on. And I don't think that we should expand beyond the 12 that we - once the new members join - have in fold.

Holy Crap that Chief defense sucks • Oct 27, 2021 08:18 PM

Tbh I think that we need to break the bank, load up on D and get a new DC for sure. I'm not ruling Bienemy out just yet (but getting there..) - he needs to be more balanced. Who calls the offensive plays? Reid or Bienemy?

2022 Crootin • Oct 27, 2021 08:15 PM

The team showed heart and fight against OU. I like the direction that the team is going. That game should give them confidence moving forward.

@wissox that makes sense. And it does get old seeing those same teams in the playoff every year.

2022 Recruiting Thread • Oct 25, 2021 05:06 PM

@BShark and alot of those guys had red flags before even coming. With all that is going on (and Self and the program will survive it), I think that - and he already is, imo - Coach is going to be a hell of alot more particular when it comes to signing guys. We are Kansas, can get quality athletes while still having standards.

I am not a big fan anymore of early enrollees for example, it begs for discrepancies. And I'm not knocking Cuffe, just think that alot of schools are cooking the books and we need to be cautious is all.

@Texas-Hawk-10 True. I also think Oklahoma just isn't very good based on their results. They seem like a candidate to get smoked in the playoff if they get there but I could be very wrong about that.

OU's not going to make the playoffs. I don't see them going undefeated. The playoffs are probably going to be Georgia, Cincinnati, the Big 10 champs, and I'll say either Alabama I they win the SEC or Oregon if the Ducks run the table and Georgia beats Alabama in the SEC title game. Oklahoma and Oklahoma St. probably end up cannibalizing each other at the end of the season.

You know I'll admit, have always kind of liked OU in football due to their proximity and our being too hit and miss and in most years just downright sucking in football - and I lived in Oklahoma for a time during the Switzer heyday, Boz and Jamelle, etc. That being said though, even if they do go undefeated - they better have some statement games real quick like (and it can't be all Williams) - I would still be kinda iffy on them deserving to be in the CFB playoff.

I would be interested to know - though we have obviously benefited - what everyone's thoughts are on the new transfer rules.

Holy Crap that Chief defense sucks • Oct 25, 2021 02:13 PM

@nuleafjhawk said in Holy Crap that Chief defense sucks:

@Marco Here's my take:

The Chiefs offense sucks because Mahomes quit being Mahomes when he started making half a BILLION dollars. On top of that, Part owner of the Royals and Whattaburger and making 47 commercials are distracting him from being a football player. He is a moneymaker. He makes money whether the Chiefs suck or not. He is done - we've seen the last of Patrick Mahomes the football player.

Oh - and the defense has always sucked. They just had the original Patrick Mahomes to bail them out and outscore the other team. If I haven't already mentioned it - that Patrick Mahomes is done.

At this point, I can't disagree with what you just said.

@Texas-Hawk-10 You see Dick as a one position player?

Bye Bye Liar Gruden • Oct 24, 2021 10:25 PM

@AsadZ he bought into his own koolaid, is way overthinking things. And the D is a total waste of time. We need a new OC and DC. It is not going to get better after this season if changes aren't made, simple as that.

Holy Crap that Chief defense sucks • Oct 24, 2021 10:18 PM

Several takes here, and I pretty much said it before, but will expound upon it this time.

Take one - the Chiefs suck. Mahomes is overthinking things instead of just playing. Two - the D or lack thereof is a total tragedy, and we have talent.

Three - the window has not yet closed but is getting there fast, we need to sign some defensive players.

Four and five - we need a new OC and DC.

Yep. @Texas-Hawk-10 KJ Adams playing too? No way...

@BShark I like Adams game. What is he going to be though? Seems that somewhere I read that Coach thinks he is a big guard - if true, that would serve him well.

Lost in all of our chatter is that we already have Clemence who no one is talking about (what is the skinny on him, so far?), and Dick, Zuby and Udeh, and hopefully Rice coming in next year, with more to come.

I have seen the KJ highlights, he can ball. I don't think he will redshirt, just don't see it. In fact, I think it will be damn hard to keep him off the court. Imo, he'll get pt at the 3 and 2. He is more athletic than people give him credit for being, and has more than good handles. If he finds a consistent outside shot, look out. A 6'7 physically imposing 2 guard...

If KJ Adams plays one second at the 2 for KU, something has gone terribly wrong with KU's season. He's listed at 6-7, 225 lbs. on KU's site and everywhere has him listed at a PF.

Even if you think he's a 2, that's an even more difficult pathway to minutes than the 4 because that's probably the deepest position on the roster with R. Martin, Yesufu, Pettiford, Braun, and JCL all being capable of playing the two spot if needed. The 4 spot has Wilson, Agbaji and maybe Braun in a small ball line up, maybe Clemence, maybe Cam Martin.

Good points one and all. Self said that he could be a two, not me. My point being, at what position(s) is he going to play? And if he does play, whose minutes is he going to take? He is not going to redshirt.

Silence of the flock • Oct 24, 2021 12:05 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 me too. No one is really talking about Clemence though, why? Udeh and Clemence as our bigs, I'd take that all day everyday. Point would be Yesufu(?), Dick a more athletic version of Svi and Zuby factoring in too .. That's not even mentioning the others, Pettiford etc.

But anyway, I digress, can't wait for this season to start.

I've thought from day one - -after watching -they ARE NOT the # 3 ranked team in College Football , no saying that just because of today - -saying this from watching them in other games just looks like an over rated team. More like a 6-7 rated team

I was saying that too, when Rattler was starting. Had he been the starter today, OU would've lost. But man, I'd put Williams up against anyone. And he is a true freshman!? He needs to be in the Heisman converstation.

Sounds logical to me.

Question... with this transfer portal... seems obvious players may be lost easier.

Also seems easier to snag decent, experienced talent.

Isn't just turning smaller schools into talent farms?

Maybe we redshirt two. Take a hard look at where they are later in the year. If they don't look like minutes players Self advises them to transfer. Meanwhile... he brings in a new batch!

Am I seeing this wrong?

I'm just going to say it... While we have more than benefited from the new transfer rule, the smaller schools are being put at a serious disadvantage. I don't think the rule will last for long.

@wissox We probably would have yeah, it's all about matchups, energy and seedings.... But Huggins is saying, let's stack the deck.

Had VCU not been in the Elite 8 that year, we might have won a National Championship - but VCU deserved to be there. And what about Butler, two years straight going to the Final Four?

@bskeet He said that he wants a majors-only tournament. Even if we go to four super conferences we would still have the low to mid-majors, schools such as Belmont and Howard, Wichita State etc. Those schools need to be involved not just for the money, but for the very tradition of the tournament. A majors-only tournament, no thank you.

Even the CFB playoff is fixing to expand, wanting to allow more into the game. Huggins is saying, "let's downsize." I'm not for expanding the tournament, but don't want alot of 15 win 15 loss so-called major teams getting a nod over a team like, say, Drake from last year.

@benshawks08 I am definitely looking forward to seeing how this team shakes out. Coach likes to be in control, and it has served both him and we the fans well. Interesting that he specifically names Remy while bringing up Mason in context. He's basically saying, "don't overthink it, if you can make the shot take it, if not pass the ball."

Pretty sad, and I respect the guy as a coach. He said that he wants a majors only NCAA basketball tournament. That would kill Cinderalla and the storylines, taking away all of the intrique from the tournament. I am not onboard.
