You got it. Anyone care to take bets? Gonzaga is paying bigtime. And they don't have to worry, because image, name and likeness - and no legislating body including that of Kansas' can for long stop it - will soon be nationwide. It is quite obvious that the NCAA (headquartered in KC) concentrates mostly on the midwest - and yes, I stand by that statement. Arizona would've gotten off too, but they made it too easy.
@Kcmatt7 Ochai is going to come back. The pro opportunities (even with a potential down or up year) will not dramatically go one way or the other imo. And he can get his degree.
I see us making a run for the conference title and having a good shot at being a sweet 16 team next season with the roster as it is now comprised. Add another shooter, then maybe more.
Soon you both will be able to go outside without masks. Of course, 99% of Americans have done so all along when not in crowds, but now you donβt have to worry about pissing off some rabid antimasker or some proselytizing masker!
π. Right! Just whip out your vax card, baby!

There will be a spot to fill, and Self will fill it. Wheeler seems most likely right now @Marco
Starting line-up would likely be Harris, Braun, Ochai, Jalen, Dave to start the season. Believe me though when I say I would prefer Braun in a bench role.
Maybe Braun would be better in that role, we shall see.
I guess the question is (since we screwed around too long, chasing a prima donna instead of picking up another solid transfer) what will our team be if both Wilson and Agbaji return? And we don't need Wheeler unless we want Harris to transfer. And I'd take Harris over Wheeler any day.
Wilson and Agbaji will both be back.
@Woodrow said in 2021 Recruiting:
If Ochai and Wilson both do not come back next year is not going to be very much fun. I am pretty dissapointed in how Self handled the portal. Seems like we should have been able to land much better talent then we did.
I think they are both coming back.
I don't claim to be any type of seer per se, but I do have eyes, ears and intelligence. There were red flags as soon as he stepped on campus waiting to play (cooked high school books to name just one), but when he picked up that chair I knew what he was - someone that we did not need on the team.

Yeah, while chasing a player that just wanted to be chased.

@drgnslayr said in IARP update:
Is my memory failing me... but didn't Kansas acknowledge Adidas as a booster to help bring Silvio back? That was another move I didn't really understand the logic.
Because KU is laying bare the entire system, the way it works and how the gears turn and are oiled. How the NCAA picks and chooses.
@Texas-Hawk-10 said in IARP update:
@drgnslayr KU has acknowledged money changed hands during the recruitment of players mentioned in the report so they aren't fighting very hard on those allegations, probably just that KU wasn't aware of the payments. The biggest thing KU is fighting and why they wanted this case to go to the IARP is because of Adidas being ruled a booster. KU is hoping the IARP rules that because the NCAA has never accused a school of this before (along with Louisville and NC State) despite shoe companies being corporate sponsors of programs for decades now, that the NCAA can't begin to selectively apply that rule and overturn those infractions which would have the most serious consequences.
At the end of the day, KU is going to receive some punishment because of Silvio, Preston, and Diallo. Forfeiture of games those guys played in, scholarship reductions, and probation all seem very likely. KU is trying to avoid a postseason ban which is much more likely to happen with the IARP ruling on the case than the NCAA.
The NC State case is the one to watch because that case went to the IARP before ours so will likely be ruled upon before ours. The reason to pay attention to that case is because NC State has a lot of similar accusations against them including Adidas being considered a booster. However the IARP rules on that charge against NCSU is also likely how they'll rule it for KU as well.
Yahtzee! And if Adidas is a booster then what about Nike and Under Armor? And was it KU that gave the money? What about Zion, what about Ayton? I don't think the NCAA really wants to open this can....
@BeddieKU23 and he has proven that he can coach too. You don't do what he has the past two seasons without being able to coach. What he did with Dickinson is bigtime.
I am not near - nor will I ever be - as informed or versed as others when it comes to the ins and outs or workings of our judicial system and or esoecially the NCAA, but to me what it comes down to is that the case is weak, and I believe that was the reason for KU deciding to go the IARP route. I hope they were right in their decision. Regardless of what happens (look at our recruiting), we have already been punished for going on three years now.
@Crimsonorblue22 And Bragg had a solid first season.
I think that he will.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Oh, the NCAA has plenty of resources, as well as finance. Just ask all of the athletes who participate even with what they do get all but free-of- charge in the NBA and NFL farm systems. Ofcourse the NCAA has power, influence and resources.
@Texas-Hawk-10 said in IARP update:
@drgnslayr Do your homework on what the IARP is and how they operate and who recommended this case go that route first (hint, not the NCAA) instead of spouting off a bunch of uninformed opinions and misinformation.
The IAPR is not paid for by the NCAA and the NCAA cannot force a program into having their fate decided by the IARP. If the NCAA did attempt to force a school into having their case heard by the IARP and a school refused, that's called coercion and the NCAA isn't stupid enough to do that knowing they would be sued for that for hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.
If the NCAA did financially back the IARP, why the hell would any school agree to have their case go that route knowing the decision can't be appealed?
KU is the party that initiated the request that this case go to the IARP, not the other way around. Covid based locked downs and restrictions are what have slowed this process down. The IARP also has much more capabilities to get access to information the NCAA doesn't have the ability to do because of the backgrounds of committee members such as former FBI agents, former SEC (not the conference) employees, former NSA agents, and similar backgrounds so these people have a much greater ability to dig into a case and get facts the NCAA never could.
You seem to know alot about the IAPR, so I have a question. Who funds them?
@mayjay said in IARP update:
Does anyone realize the IARP is not a direct part of the NCAA? I am not sure the NCAA has any control of the timeline. The fact that they issued a statement at all seems very odd to me. What contacts are they relying on within this "independent" body, or were they just stating a conjecture about a general expectation? That would explain the year as an outside guess.
@mayjay So they say, an Independent review panel. I don't buy it.
With the new rules, it will be damn hard for any school to not have massive turnover every year - atleast five or six players gone, probably being the norm.
Agree that Pettiford needs to and will play, but Yesufu will probably be our point.
It is absurd. They apparently do not have a damn thing, so "hey, let's just drag it out guys! What do you say?" Which makes it to where even if we received nothing we have still received something, it screwing us on the recruiting trail for going on years now. Just think how bad things would be if we didn't have master recruiter Self.
@jayballer67 said in This Dam investigation is just crazy:

Yeah, it's pathetic. They are apparently trying to find evidence, and they are not going to find any.

@Crimsonorblue22 It has been nice realizing I have distanced myself from most of the nitwits I used to come across daily. Moving gives you a chance to select a new group of friends!
Not only avoiding nitwits. Moving can often give you an entirely new life perspective.

Buzz is mostly KU and Zona. I really think the Kentucky stuff is super overblown.
in the end is it worth it with all the drama that goes along with it OR do we take the 2-3 good quality guards that we have picked up in the off Season all ready Yasafu Petti - -Cuffe and others ? - sure Ty is good yet is he going to be a Cancer to the other guys - a guy that wants ALL the attention on him? - -A Black hole ? look at me type of guy?
I don't think Tyty is a bad locker room guy at all. I expect Cuffe to redshirt.
well Farmer as always I appreciate your opinions that's why I holler at you so much lol. - -Wasn't necessary trying to say he would be - - just some random thoughts, kind of makes me wonder though if we will have enough balls to go around. you really don't think Cuffe is good enough to contribute his Freshmen year? - seems pretty dam athletic to me
But one thing about most of these redshirt predictions? They almost never come true. With the new transfer rules, these players will now more than ever not be down with redshirting unless they bleed Jayhawk. I don't see Cuffe redshirting, though he probably should.
Saw where Syracuse has lost 12 players to the transfer portal. What is going on there?

Just saying. Was looking , good to know we are in the conversation for some really good players in the early part of their recruiting. as of the present KU is listed as these players top 5 college choices as of this point. 6 of the top 15 players in the 2023 class has KU as one of their top 5 schools of interest they are as follows :
4 - -6"6 - -SG - -Elijah Fisher
6 - -6"8- - PF - - Omaha Biliew
8 - -6"4 - - CG - -Simeon Wilcher
9 - -6"10 - -C - -Baye Fall
12 - -6"8 - -C - - Jalen Lewis
14 - -6"6 - -SF - -Mookie Cook
Not saying we land ANY of these guys BUT glad to see we are in the hunt Early need the staff to stay on these guys finish on the one's w really want to get after. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
All of our NCAA crap will be behind us at that point. We will land atleast one of those guys.

Mcflung withdrew from the portal
hmmmmm
He's likely to go pro or stay at Texas Tech
staying at Tech - -better when you figure the % of all the players that try and go pro- - the chances are slim -real slim especially someone like him Alot of better players at his position just flat better
Some of these guys I understand, Yesufu and Enaruna, Muscadin and Jossell for example, and maybe McClung (though I realize that he took his name out of the portal) due to the coaching change, but alot of the others just leave me scratching my head. It is like they are transferring just to transfer, because they can.
Not a fan of the new rule.
There is a common thread here, most saying that we need another shooter. I believe in Coach, when has he failed us? Which leads me to believe that Martin is going to play more than some think - the dude can shoot.
I think we still have a pretty good shot at landing him, but do we really need him?

I think that get's a little out of hand offering that fast. - Kid must be insane to offer that early. - I'll just say his Name is Cameron Homes bout all I know about him cause like I said class of 2025 - -WOW
Imo if they made an offer with him being that young then he must be the second- coming of Zues Jackson
@wissox said in Charlie Moore to Miami:
From Cal to KU to DePaul to Miami. Unbelievable. Really hard to fathom a kid can play at 4 different colleges.
Five different ones. And, seriously, what is he going to gain other than getting laid at South Beach (which - now that I'm thinking about it - I guess is something in and of itself)?
@Oldmanhawk And therein lies the problem with players being able to stay in the draft until the very last minute. Before signing, most players want to know who is or isn't coming back. "Uh, gee, not sure... Let us get back with you." Players want to know who is coming back, but the university can only respond with, "err..."
@Texas-Hawk-10 I know that.... And I do see the NBA getting rid of it.
@BShark @mayjay no doubt. Another thing that the new transfer rule will help to bring about is the deserved death of the OAD rule. It might help the mid-majors too, since with so many of players transferring to P5 schools (exhausting their scholarship limits) more highschool talent will be available to sign than there used to be.
@BShark said in 2021 Transfer Talk/List:
@BeddieKU23 said in 2021 Transfer Talk/List:
So did Chasen, basically saying that Marcus coming back would be about the lack of pro options, not who KU has signed to play at guard
Exactly.
Yep. And would he be able to help himself and or the team by coming back?
@BeddieKU23 another shooter.
@RockkChalkk because if he comes back Bill will play him, regardless of else we have on the team. He is not a point guard, nor is he a two or a wing - he is a great defender, but that's not enough. He is a player that really doesn't have a true position, and that fact is not due to him being a prolific player at every position but because he really doesn't do a great job at any one of them.
