So why did Twitter warn me that the feed contained possibly sensitive content? I was expecting to see people cussing him out or something....
I assumed it was the reference to God. Which certain groups of people consider offensive. Sad.
These spam posts are appearing more and more lately. Ahh.

SEXGOD!
I'm here... Did someone call my name?
Ryan Langborg from Princeton is in the portal. 6'4" guard. Starter on the team and had 26pts in their final game/loss to Creighton. 22 points the game before in the win against Mizz. Maybe worth a look?
For me, I'm rooting for the Big 12 teams plus Houston to go as far as possible. However, maybe not KSU to win it all because we'd never hear the end of it.
Other teams I'm rooting for as second options: Princeton, Tennessee, Michigan State (like their coach), Miami (like their coach), Arkansas (i like the players, definitely not the shirtless coach).
Teams I am rooting hard against: UCLA (screw the PAC), Gonzaga (just because), Alabama (Thugs), FAU (tasteless play at the end of last game)
The 10 second call by Harris was killer. Also how can these coaches not correct the offensive screen fouls that they have been plagued by all year? Unbelievable.
if you need help deleting those posts let me know, happy to help. I see them most mornings when I do my early morning checkins on the site. :)
Kansas vs Pirate Kansas. Might be close but still believe we will get it done.
Graham too
Yeah, its pretty delusional. Don't try your hardest to win a championship today because you might face them again a month later in the final four and are saving stuff for that.

Also, Texas is just a really good team. They had a ton of preseason hype because of all the returning talent and additions they made. You’d expect a team to fall apart after all the turmoil around beard but they’ve clearly come together and are playing for each other and their current coach whom they clearly love. I was cranky watching them celebrate because we lost but honestly that level of joy is telling about a team. Last years KU team had that joy. Texas has a clear chip on their shoulder and can use their adversity as motivation. I usually don’t pick Texas to go very far but think they might be my pick for the final four from their region this year.
It’s also easy to look pretty good when all you are doing is shooting uncontested layups and three pointers. Seems familiar honestly.
Hmm. Sounds like you're saying Texas wanted it more than KU.
These are young people in peak physical condition in the prime of their lives. Being tired from three games in three days is a made up reason to justify a reason for them losing. Its just that they had a bad game and/or the other team wanted it more. The bigger problem I see is that it seems like the team lacks heart sometimes. I never see anyone pulling the group together on the court for huddles or encouragement. Don't see a lot of emotion on their faces or in their actions when the games start slipping away.
I think Yormark has his head on straight and won't add someone if they don't add value to the group. There are a ton of rumors but I think he is mostly targeting Oregon and Washington and would also take Arizona and ASU. I also think there is a chance we could end up with some of the ACC members if that GOR cracks. Its a long shot but would love to see FSU added since I've been a long time fan of their football team.
I'm very excited about the potential additions to the league that may be coming in the future.
Anyone have a link to the speeches? Wasn't able to watch them.

@rockchalkjayhawk I remember freshmen better than transfers. Unique name helps.
Who was the big guy (Memphis?) transfer that played with McLemore? He was a nice young man, looked intimidating, had a cup of coffee with the Lakers. Likable as could be, above average player and I can’t remember his name. - one year rentals. I could never be a fan of a team like Kentucky that is mostly comprised of short term players.
Tariq Black.
There was an awesome quote I saw the other day from Embiid regarding Tariq Black. I think I saw it on twitter. I'm not savvy enough to link it here but had to do with Embiid's first practice and what Black did to him. If nobody can help me find it and link it I'll try to dig it up, don't want to botch the quote by going off of memory.
Really thought Kev would be back. Guess I was wrong.
Do these pay to read articles usually get released from behind the pay wall eventually? How long does it normally take?
YES! I normally don't complain too much about the announcers but last night Fran was way overboard. Actively rooting for KState over and over. He needs to at least show some level of neutrality. That was bad. And they talk about the 'announcer's jinx' during the game and 100% he intentionally tried to do it to KU at the end. At they are inbounding with whatever, 10 seconds left, he throws out all the perfection KU has in these situations this season. It was a purposeful move.
@wissox Every game is unique though. Just look at this year's KU basketball, almost every game comes down to the wire. Oklahoma just almost beat us at home, were up 10 with like 5 minutes left. Oklahoma lost to Sam Houston St. earlier this year. Does that mean we aren't CBB tournament quality or don't deserve to be highly ranked because we win close games against teams with less talent?
I like to think TCU definitely proved they deserved to be there seeing that they were the only team all year to beat Michigan who smashed Ohio State who barely lost to Georgia. :)
Whats the iphone ad? I can't see, blocked.
It was a very unfortunate ending to an amazing season. Georgia was on their A-game last night and nobody would have beaten them. Its too bad TCU didn't have their A game going to at least keep it reasonably close.
@Kcmatt7 I didn't see late night which is probably why i was uninformed, lol. Appreciate everyone keeping me up to speed with this stuff.

@RockkChalkk Day 1 Gradey Dick is a better player than a year 2 Bobby Pettiford that was less than 100% for most of the off-season.
I get that is your opinion and the same opinion of many on here. I don't deny that I'm in the minority here. But did the man who matters most, HCBS, state that he is a Day 1 starter somewhere?
Did Self really imply somewhere that Dick is a day 1 starter? Surprising to me. I guess time will tell but I just don't think he is ready for that starting spot and still think Bobby has a good shot to grab it if healthy.
Excited for the season! Rock Chalk.
What does the "probation" mean?
Who's our next commitment going to be? Any bucketeers crystal ball projections?
Elmarco Jackson is the recruit/player
@Texas-Hawk-10 yeah thats definitely possible. There are models that use historical data and market share that can provide projections for what those numbers will be though. Not exact but ballpark. It might be enough information that schools don't need to wait until its finalized in order to make a decision. I've heard there is one network interested in the PAC 10 deal. I've heard there are at least two that have expressed desire for a Big 12 deal. Always a benefit to have multiple bidders! The projections that are out there show PAC 10 at around $40M per school and Big 12 at about $51M per school. Its also been suggested that Oregon & Washington would likely demand a larger share of the PAC revenue to stay which adds another wrinkle to that formula.
Further, there are other dynamics like air times, PAC games not being seen by large sections of the country due to time zones and kickoff times is always going to suppress potential viewership. Another interesting variable in play is culture/politics. Some states/schools/conferences are quicker than others to cancel events, limit crowds if another covid-like event was to happen. For example, no fans at football games in California is a lot of potential lost revenue for both schools. I could see that weighing on the minds of more reddish states like Arizona, Colorado, Utah, etc. Maybe its not a coincidence that the heaviest rumored schools to join the BIG 12 from the PAC are from states furthest to the right politically.
I find this whole topic of conference realignment so interesting. Anxious to see where the chips fall!
The good news is that the Big 12 has the upper hand. That's certainly not everyone's shared opinion, but its a majority opinion from what I can gather. Big 12 is currently evaluating their options, has gotten many calls about joining, however has not sent any official invites out yet.
Its hard to really know but I also think Arizona and Colorado are going to end up joining. I think Oregon holds a lot of power too. They obviously want into the Big 10 but the Big 10 has basically said no for now so now they need to weigh their options. It should be noted that Oregon did not issue an official statement about staying in the PAC 12. If Oregon were to switch to the Big 12 that would probably break the PAC 12 because we'd likely see Washington and the four corner schools do the same.
Assuming ACC schools are locked up with GOR for now, a few other schools that could be in the mix are SMU and Memphis. Might see one of them if say Colorado is the only PAC 12 team wanting to break away and the BIG 12 wants to keep numbers even.
@jayballer67 I haven't seen anything to indicate that. Actually quite the opposite, lots of indications that the Big 12 will be expanding again soon and are trying to pull at least a few PAC 12 teams. Things just don't move as fast as we'd like. There are a lot of dynamics that need to be sorted out.
Apparently North Carolina, Florida State, Clemson, and Virginia are in talks to join the SEC. If it happens it could open up a whole other can of worms with the ACC leftovers. The possibilities seem endless. Teams like Pitt, Miami, NC State, Duke, Louisville, etc. could start to be looked at.
I'd caution everyone not to count our eggs before they hatch. This has the feel of something that could fall through. There hasn't been a ton of reporting about it, just the same rumor/tip being repeated over and over, not a lot of hard facts to go off of.
Also, Utah fans are something else. Had no idea. If they join this will take some getting used to.
Seems like we might hear about Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, & Utah first. Oregon and Washington later on, perhaps waiting to see what Notre Dame does. If everything moves forward as rumored I'm really liking how things are shaping up for the Big12.

Bronny is going wherever offers the best NIL deal which will probably end up being Duke followed by Kentucky. I don't see him going the G-League route at this point because of NIL because Bronny is someone who could pull in 8 figures from NIL deals in college.
As far as actual ability, I'd absolutely take him in heartbeat if he wanted to come to KU. Skillwise, he's not a OAD and he needs to develop his PG skills to reach the NBA and he'd be playing off the ball at KU which is currently his best position. I also don't know if he'd start at KU over Harris, Pettiford, and McCullar if he came back for year two at KU. That's also on top of if Dick or Rice are around for year two, I think it's more likely Rice is than Dick.
Even though Bronny is a good player that I'd love to have, I don't know that KU would be a great fit for him and that's without factoring in NIL. I think with everything factored in, Bronny's joining the Brotherhood for a year.
Not saying you are right or wrong but if true, I just don't understand. If your dad is literally a billionaire, why would money decide where you go to college? Makes no sense. I would have thought best chance of winning a title would be top attraction for him. But I'm just a dumb fan and don't know.
Since 2014 we have had the following freshmen (guards) contribute the following: (games started; minutes per game; points per game)
A lot matters who else is on the team when the player is there but to average double digit points per game as a frosh is an extreme rarity. Only JJ and DD did it. Since Gradey doesn't have the same letter that begins his first and last name I don't think it is happening. :face_with_tongue:
I personally don't think he starts, so based off of that assumption and considering other players he will be playing with, I think @BShark is very close with a line of 20 mpg and 7 ppg. For my official prediction, I'll take 19 mpg and 6 ppg.
Hypothetical scenario: Can Bobby take the reigns at the 1 and Juan bump over to the 2? Would probably be like a 1A and a 1B but I think Bobby can be more effective with the dribble drive to the lane as the 1. Have we had any successful teams in the past with a secondary ball handler/facilitator/minimal scoring threat as a 2? Maybe similar to a Dotson/Garrett setup?
Man, if Juan can take that big jump in scoring like some are prophesizing I think this might work out pretty nice.
Biggest Whiff: Diallo. I just thought he was the real deal and was way off.
I was probably a bit too hard on Mason his first few years. The driving to nowhere and careless turnovers drove me nuts. Coach stuck with him and gave him a long leash he needed and he blossomed into one of our best players.
Best call: I pegged Dotson as the star of his class (over Grimes) despite the rankings and he ended up delivering as I predicted.
@Texas-Hawk-10 said in Reasons to believe in next year’s team:
So with Wilson's announcement, the most likely starting line up for next season should be Harris, McCullar, Dick, Wilson, and Clemence I'm guessing.
Next season should be interesting to see how Self handles the line up because other than Udeh, there's not a true post that figures to be part of the rotation unless Cam Martin suddenly got good enough to play at this level. Even then, Cam's outside shooting was a big reason why he was brought in so we could potentially see a lot of 5 out next season which is something I never thought I'd see out of a Bill Self coached team.
I'm guessing the core bench pieces will be Rice, Pettiford, Adams, Udeh, and Yesufu with Ejiofor, Martin, and Cuffe getting spot minutes unless Ejiofor jumps ahead of KJ in the rotation. I'm not knocking Ejiofor, but he's probably looking at being the 5th big in the rotation which historically means very few minutes.
That is definitely a possibility. I'm thinking we might see Pettiford, Harris, McCullar, Wilson, and Clemence as starters. Rice, Yes, & Dick rotating in the 1-3 spots and Udeh/Adams rotating at the 4/5. Bigger rotation early in the season and a few will drop out as conference play picks up. There's some big shoes to fill and lots of opportunity for whoever is ready to step up and take it.

Underclassman Sherron frustrated the hell out of me. If he hadn't gotten that steal and 3 to put us in striking distance in the championship and then the fall down pass to Mario, I would have remembered a lot of the boneheaded things he did that season, including some head-scratching plays in the championship on a team full of pretty cool customers. My point being, Dajuan is not the first KU underclassman to make a few boneheaded plays in a championship he also did some very good things in.
In particular, underclassman Sherron's drives to nowhere, getting caught in the air with no option, and either turning it over or getting packed to Kingdom Come drove me absolutely nuts. So let's allow that there may be a bit of lip-service hypberbole in Self's assessment of Sherron as "one of the toughest" or whatever he said. Yes, Sherron was good, had a borderline great career by KU standards (high standards). He checks all the boxes for someone Self would praise.
* Contributed his sophomore year to a championship run.
* Waited his turn to start
* Was from the Chicago area (want to recruit that!)
* Was a 5 star McD (want to recruit that!)
* Played 4 years for Self, probably should have left after his 3rd
* First team All American
* Wasn't drafted because of sizeAnd importantly, his senior year, with 7 guys who made an NBA roster on his team, a team you would expect senior Sherron to lead, he lost to Northern Iowa.
So don't laugh when we suggest that lil Sophomore NCAA CHAMPION Dajuan Harris might end up having a better college career than Sherron.
He just might.
Whoa buddy, not sure what you're mixing in that Kool-Aid you're drinking. A two time all-american with a championship is "borderline great career"?? To me this is unquestionably great, one of the greatest we have ever had. Nobody else since Sherron has been a two time all-american for KU. The only other two in modern times is Jacque (two second team seasons) and Raef (had two first team seasons).
What would Juan have to do in his next two years for you to classify him as having a better college career than Sherron?
@bskeet I would LOVE to see Juan become that prolific scorer you describe. It would be fantastic. Its just hard for me to see that happening. You'd think that being the non scoring threat he was all year with defenses backing off of him would equate to a higher FG % since he would get those wide open looks. As a player becomes more and more the threat they start facing the other team's best defenders, see more double teams, get the defenses attention, etc, and often we see the player's FG % drop down a little. If I'm not mistaken this was the case with Sherron too.
Its not impossible for it to happen though so there is still hope. Hopefully he is a gym rat all off season, gets some shooting mechanics worked out, and shocks us all next year as a new player on the offensive end.
However, if you're looking for a surprise scorer next year, I think Pettiford could be that guy. Really small sample size but 53.3% FG % raises an eyebrow. His workout tapes coming in reminded me of Dotson's. DD's was more impressive but still, 85% of DD is damn good. I'm hoping Bill tries him in that Mason/Dotson role and see if he sinks or swims.
@bskeet said in Reasons to believe in next year’s team:
I think that role is similar for Juan. He was not asked to be a primary scorer this year; we had plenty of other options for that.
Correction, we had plenty of other better options for that. Like literally almost everyone. The only other players with a lower FG % were Zach, Yes, Teahan and Jank.
Next year's team is starving for scoring. Its hard enough scoring 5 vs 5 but when the other team knows they don't really have to guard one, it becomes 4 vs 5 on the offensive end and that much harder. If the 4 are studs then it can work. I think its way more likely that we see Juan as a 6th man or 7th man rotation player next year than it is he becomes a second team all american like Sherron did. Also, this isn't me accepting the Sherron comparison - Sherron was way better than Juan soph year especially if you do a per minute comparison because Sherron played fewer minutes per game and still almost doubled him up in points per game.
@bskeet said in Reasons to believe in next year’s team:
@approxinfinity said in Reasons to believe in next year’s team:
I think of Russ Rob as a better comp for Juan.
yes.. And maybe Sherron.
Haaaahahahahahhahhhahahhhahah. Haaaahhahahhahahhhhhahhhahh. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@Jethro Ha, I see what you did there. I used to have your same belief but after watching him in one of those all star games, playing against other incoming frosh, I was quite disappointed and lowered my expectations to be more realistic. Its rare to have a true frosh that can come in and put it all together to a point where he is a reliable scorer. Last few I can think of were JJ, Wigs, Jo. I just don't think Dick is in that class of talent and ability to be the scorer we hope for in his first year.
Its also not in Bill Self's history to put someone out there to just spot up and shoot without having to worry about thinking about anything else. Guys like Greene who I'd say is a better shooter couldn't carve out time because he couldn't play D. The one trick ponies don't see the court much with Self. At least not enough to rack up a strong scoring line each game.

Yea there are only 2 spots open to be filled by transfers right now. I think if Hunter does come, Yes is gone. Seems like we take a big guard and a true wing to me. Mosely seems in the bag. Hoping the other ends up being Council.
Are you counting Wilson back in your numbers? I only see room for one transfer. Maybe I'm missing something.
Cam, Joe, Wilson, Harris, Zach, Adams, Pettiford, Cuffe, Dick, Rice, Udeh, Ejiofor. Thats twelve.
And if we took a transfer, that leaves no room for Braun to shock the world and come back for another year if thats the route he chose.
