There was an interesting caveat at the end of that article, it said "barring a waiver from the NCAA, Moore will have to sit out a season." Is this waiver even a possibility for Moore? Kindof caught me off guard on that one.
@jayballer54 Try to think of it this way, there are only 13 spots on the roster (scholarship spots) and when you subtract returning players, we can really only "win" on recruiting on a handful of players each year due to that alone. Don't let the "misses" get you down.
Moore isn't a bad player by any means, just won't be available next year and it sounded like KU was the favorite for several other higher ranked targets.
Barring another transfer, I do like that he is a guy that will be at KU through his senior year, don't see him leaving for NBA early. Need a few of those long term guys, most players on the roster will likely leave us in the waiting game to hear if they are back or not.
Also, seems like the biggest need right now is landing another post player, maybe this is the writing on the wall that Svi is definitely gone?
@BShark wow
"Kansas Assistant Coach Norm Roberts will watch 2017 big man Garrison Brooks on Monday. Brooks, who was released from his LOI to mississippi State, is also being recruited by North Carolina and Iowa State among others."
- per Matt Scott
What do we know about this guy?
"Kansas Assistant Coach Jerrance Howard will be in East Saint Louis, IL on Friday to see 2017 C Jeremiah Tilmon. Tilmon, the #29 ranked player in the 247Sports 2017 composite rankings, was released from his Letter of Intent by Illinois on Tuesday. Tilmon is expected to consider Missouri, Illinois and Kansas among others now that he's been released from his LOI."
@BShark How do you always have eyes on MS? Do you work with him? Have a secret spy cam installed? Flying a drone overhead of him? What is it? haha.
@BShark Cunliffe isn't available until 2nd semester right? Odds are he will be the short straw if Svi comes back.
@HawkChamp I saw one site, ESPN I think, that said 6'-10"
@BShark Why do you have Duval in the "Nope" category? Did I miss the news that he cut KU?
Just to make sure I'm counting right, as of right now we actually have zero open scholarships. Everybody expects JJ to declare but he hasn't yet. Maybe there is a reason he is waiting but each day that goes by makes me wonder just a little bit more. Could he actually be one of the rare breed that decides to make shockwaves by deciding to return, lol. Kansas would go from title contender to clear favorite to win it all.
Most thought the odds of Svi staying were greater than 50%, and nobody else seems like a prime transfer candidate. Unless someone has the ability to pay their own way, we currently have zero open at this minute with very high odds of one opening up after a JJ announcement.
@BShark Its feeling like we will continue to see a lot of the four out/one in type of offense next year based off of how the roster is shaping up.
@BShark Juiston has the ability needed, Kanter has the size needed. Neither is ideal but I'd choose Juiston between the two.
We still need Bigs for next season though.
@BShark Former Memphis standouts Dedric and K.J. Lawson are transferring to Kansas, their father told @CBSSports. Story coming.

@JayHawkFanToo I assume your body fat is about 2% and you eat kale for a snack?
Why not just point at him and say, "Hey! Look at Fattie!"?
This constant barage of ridicule by "fans" here against a KU assistant coach is disgraceful. Even if you haven't personally been the one perpetuating it, why throw this crap into a thread that is about his job?
All bow to the board policeman aka Lord Mayjay, always Mr. Holier than Thou. Its gotten to the point where these gross overreactions to poster's comments are way worse than the original comment itself. Anybody else getting really tired of this?
@mayjay Sorry, just treating him like he treated KU. Say that winning is the most important thing then pick OU? Say that KU had the best coaching staff then pick OU? Crimson is right, he trolled KU and wasted a lot of Self's time & resources. I don't feel bad for one second by wishing he loses every game he plays in college.
Yeah, stay home... sounds like a blast. Nobody ever enjoys the experience of going away to college. He can even live at momma's house still, that sounds like an opportunity that's too hard to pass up.
Have fun losing.
Was just wondering about some of our former Hawks in the pros. Can anyone provide an update on some of the others? I.e. Selden, Ellis, Greene, etc. Did any of them catch on anywhere?
@HighEliteMajor Wish I could upvote your comment like 100 times instead of just once.
@Hawk8086 Bragg and Traylor have the best handles of the group but you are right, didn't see it.
I hope Self puts this game on replay in the KU locker room all week long.
Svi is in danger of going into cryo
@globaljaybird Lost count
At least he would have challenged that last layup by Williams
@DoubleDD I agree. Thought he played well while he was in there the last sequence.
What is Lucas' vertical jump measurable? 3"? I don't think I ever see him jump higher than that. Like ever.
Can't believe this.
@DCHawker That should count as two missed free throws each time.
FREE THROWS!! Ugh
Oh come on!! Thats a terrible call.
Put Bragg in please
seems like Huggy is splitting his bonus with the zebras
wow. they call the foul before there is even contact there.
We can't defend these guys without fouling, wtf?
We have no chance unless we can run some offense. We aren't even getting shots off. They need to get some transition baskets off the press or this game is over
Mason playing like a Frosh tonight
@DoubleDD Oh I so badly wish we would press more. Not as crazy as WVU but a soft press. Self always uses it early in the season, it works, then puts it on the shelf for the rest of the year. Don't understand it.
Every bounce and every call is going against KU
KU's head isn't in the game. Someone needs to show some heart. They can't get a stop without fouling.
Great thread, lots of terriffic points by the posters. I would like to throw in my 2c.

The post by Jesse nails exactly what some of the more analytical guys on here have been saying for a while, its all about the net impact and you can see who has the highest net impact. Not only that but there is so much room for improvement from those guys too based off of their potential.

I am not set in agreement that we need to shorten the bench and that is solely contingent on playing style. I think we are at our best when we play fast, when we are shooting threes, and even utilizing a soft press. Doing that would require more bodies in order to keep the team fresh so shortening the bench might not play into that style of ball which I would prefer Self used most.

The argument used most by those that oppose these views is that we are 14-1 and we are winning with LL and JT playing big minutes. Ironically enough, I think our chances at a NC might be better if we had lost the OU game because it might have given us reason to look closer at the rotation if we had lost. Since we won, everyone's flawed defense of the C5 still holds up. But when we get into the NCAA tournament, we normally have to win 4, maybe 5, tough games in a row. Playing the style we are, many of these games in essense come down to odds that can be simplified as a coinflip (final shot to win, missed three at the buzzer, etc.). Think about our NCAA track record for both wins and losses (Michigan, Kentucky, etc.), its true. I disagree with HEM that we can't win playing this style because we can, it is possible to flip a coin and get heads 5 times in a row, but the odds aren't great. The OU game came down to less than a coinflip, they had a 50-something percent free throw shooter at the line which gave us less than 50-50 odds of winning the game at the end of regulation. Fans should not feel great about being in that same situation when the season is on the line in March.
The point that I have been trying to make most of the season is that we can avoid games coming down to a coinflip (or even a 25% loss odds) if we make some small tweaks to the lineup at the 5. I'd much rather win games comfortably by 7-8 points instead of coming down to the wire like the OU game did. The result was the same this time but we may not always be this lucky.
@jayballer54 LOL, I think you need to check your math there. It would result in $4.33 for every person.
Ugly but I'll take it. Too bad we couldn't get more minutes for CD and CB but we got the win.
No TOs the rest of the way and we win.
Did anyone see a foul there?
Thank you Tubby for going zone there.
Uggghh, LL needs to get out on that guy. Thats like the third shot he has hit from there on him.
Man, their guy no. 11 travelled. No call. Then bs call on Svi.
