Well, we were riding such a high for the last month. Sad to see we couldn’t make a bowl game after the momentum we had. Baylor was also on a big roll though, so not an easy road game. But a bitch slapping was very unexpected.

Now it’s the waiting game to see who comes and goes — both players and staff.

I don’t follow the recruiting side of things, so not sure what’s on the horizon. But lots of you have said we’re losing most of our offense? Ugh.

We're losing most starters on both sides of the ball. We have 4 starters on offense that could return (Daniels and 3 OLinemen), and 4 starters on defense that could return (1 LB and 3 DLinemen), and our punter on special teams.

KU has 38 seniors total and only 16 commits for next season so far (15 HS and 1 transfer) so if Leipold is making staff changes, they need to happen relatively quickly so they can get to work to bring in some players.

No chance the staff thinks Daniels is leaving, otherwise Marshall should've taken over this drive to get some live game reps and not burn his redshirt.

@nuleafjhawk said in Finally Some RESPECT: Jayhawks Favored At Baylor:

I just turned the TV on. What happened?

Defense can't tackle anything today is the biggest issue.

Can't tackle for shit today

KU has to get something going to the left side of the field. Just about every running plays is going right because of Brown being out, and Baylor has keyed in on that.

@kjayhawks said in Finally Some RESPECT: Jayhawks Favored At Baylor:

@Texas-Hawk-10 you said no one reached, that wasn’t true. They showed people reaching on TV. So by definition you are a liar. Sorry maybe you can’t see the whole field not sure.

I could see the players involved, Grimm did not react at all. Lance Leipold did not react at all. Those are the two who should've been arguing, but didn't because the pass was a good 7-8' over Grimm's head and not catchable. And having a hand on someone isn't holding, grabbing the jersey is, and since Grimm didn't react at all to the refs not calling anything, he knew it was a legal play.

Also, if nobody is aware, KU is playing without Logan Brown today who got hurt during pregame warmups.

@kjayhawks said in Finally Some RESPECT: Jayhawks Favored At Baylor:

@wissox right I’m fine to disagree but nothing like a flat liar. LL idk because they didn’t show

I'm in the stadium and saw way more of the reactions than what was on TV, nobody involved in that play even looked at the refs, but of course I'm a liar making shit up.

@wissox said in Finally Some RESPECT: Jayhawks Favored At Baylor:

Announcer acting like Jaylon hasn't made some downfield throws today. He had the really bad INT, but has made some really nice passes.

He's been overthrowing a lot, even the deep catches have mostly been circus catches today.

@kjayhawks said in Finally Some RESPECT: Jayhawks Favored At Baylor:

@Texas-Hawk-10 the players did reacted number 87 was jumping up and down doing the the throwing the flag motion

1 player that was away from the play, not the guy involved, or Leipold who we all know never gets animated about bad ref calls ever.

@kjayhawks said in Finally Some RESPECT: Jayhawks Favored At Baylor:

@Texas-Hawk-10 that was PI all day or holding, had LJ by his collar the whole way down the field.

Whatever you claim dude, the players and coaches not reacting at all to that play should tell you all you need to know whether or not they thought it was a missed call.

@wissox said in Finally Some RESPECT: Jayhawks Favored At Baylor:

@Texas-Hawk-10 It looked in the neighborhood.

None of KU's players or coaches were arguing for a flag on that play. I'm at the game and nobody from KU reacted like it was a missed call.

@kjayhawks said in Finally Some RESPECT: Jayhawks Favored At Baylor:

@Texas-Hawk-10 still can call
Holding

It wasn't a hold, Grimm was pushed down.

Pass was uncatchable, that's why there was no flag there, Grimm not reacting should be all the evidence he knew it was uncatchable.

Secondary definitely needs to pick it up this drive. Baylor's getting whatever they want through the air.

@DCHawker Florida has looked pretty salty so far too. They had a 27-0 run during their 37 point win over previously undefeated Wichita St. today and have won every game by double digits so far including a 13 point win over a solid FSU team.

Oklahoma is also looking good so far this season as they're currently up on Louisville in the championship game of the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Boy, OkState's fall from grace/competence is something to behold. They look awful against Colo right now. From league favorite to cellar. Just Wow.

The other favorite to win the Big 12 is currently 1-7 in conference play too. It's crazy how inverted the standings are compared to the preseason expectations.

@FarmerJayhawk said in Other Football Games of Interest:

Things could get really weird for the Big 12 in bowl season. There very possibly aren’t enough bowl tie ins for all the potential 6 win teams. It’s an artifact of the former PAC schools playing in PAC bowls. There are 12 Big 12 teams who can get to 6 wins. The Big 12 has up to 8 bowl tie-ins and the PAC has 6. USC and UCLA can get bowl eligible, Wazzu already is, Oregon State could as well. Might be a giant train wreck.

Tulane losing to Memphis yesterday was big for the Big 12 because that pretty much eliminates any chance of the B12 champs missing the playoffs.

@stoptheflop said in KU / Duke Takeaways:

The Las Vegas tournament is weird: Duke Kansas play first, then 3 and 4 days later both teams play the lower seeds in the tournament, Seattle U and Furman. I guess that's why its called a showdown and not a tournament. I see that Furman played Seattle on Wedn and won. So, KU beats Duke for the chance to play the winner of the Furman Seattle game. Strange

This isn't a tournament. Furman and Seattle played right after the KU/Duke game. KU playing Furman and Duke playing Seattle was already scheduled before the outcome of that game since these are on campus games for KU and Duke.

KU / Duke Takeaways • Nov 29, 2024 04:54 AM

@wissox The main video board in the middle of the arena was showing the ESPN feed. Eventually in the second half at some point, they had a stats board come on the at least one of the corners of the arena.

This sr class in both fb and bb has been a huge blessing to us/KU! Very thankful! Gonna hate to see them go. 🌾🌾💙❤️🫶🏀🏈🙏🌻 Let's finish! 🏆🏆💍

Bowl game would be so big. 3 in a row has never been done at KU EVER.

A win Saturday would also do something else KU hasn't done since the 1967 amd 1968 seasons, a winning conference record in back to back seasons.

KU / Duke Takeaways • Nov 28, 2024 05:23 AM

Duke has an 8 man rotation and their smallest players are 6-5. If Coit is in, his only use is as a 3 point shooter because nobody is scared of him driving so he's going to have issues with playability all season, especially in league play where teams typically have more size.

@Texas-Hawk-10 My experience is neutral floor fans that have to travel are not going to be the rowdy freshmen that are drunk, rude, crude and obnoxious. The exception being the Kentucky fans I met in 2012 in the SuperDome.

I dealt with that group in San Antonio in 2022 with Villanova fans. Those fans generally lived down to the expectations of Philly fans of being total assholes. Vegas is also a major travel destination for rich kids, which Duke has plenty of, looking for a debaucherous time since recreational weed is legal in Nevada, unlike North Carolina amd have plenty of money to blow. Even with that, the students I interacted with fine and not like Missouri, Kentucky, KSU, ISU, or Villanova's fans.

@Texas-Hawk-10 how was the atmosphere there?

It very much felt like an NCAA Tournament game atmosphere. It was such a fun game. My section was mostly KU fans, but all the Duke fans I interacted with before and after the game were cool so it'll probably be harder for to hate the fanbase now. No problem still hating the players and coach, but it was all positive interactions with the fans.

@Texas-Hawk-10 you weren't at the last mizzou v ku game in the phog? My condolences.

I graduated in 2010 and live in Houston. The games I typically make it to are the games at Baylor, TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M (when those two were still in the league). UH typically sells out before tickets before make it to public on sale including this year.

KU vs Duke Game Thread • Nov 27, 2024 05:17 AM

This is also the best KU game I've been to in person. The only other contender is the 2020 Baylor game in Waco when Baylor was #1 and KU was #3.

KU vs Duke Game Thread • Nov 27, 2024 05:15 AM

KJ Adams is the G-D man tonight. Owned Flagg tonight on defense. Dejuan owned Flagg on offense. Flagg couldn't do anything to stop Dejaun getting to the rim and causing chaos all night.

Cooper Flagg is touted as a/the generational talent. A generation is about 30 years in the real world. It's a tall task to live up to that in one season. who has been hyped like this? Zion? Greg Oden? Anthony Davis? Willie Mays Hayes?

LeBron, Flagg is the highest rated recruit since LeBron.

KU vs Duke Game Thread • Nov 27, 2024 01:36 AM

Now that more of the crowd is here, it's probably about a 65/35 pro Kansas crowd.

KU vs Duke Game Thread • Nov 27, 2024 12:58 AM

Looking like close to a 50/50 split in the crowd from what I can tell. Hard to definitively say since both schools are blue.

2025 recruits - - -starting off well • Nov 25, 2024 11:58 PM

@SlimShaddy54 Jalon Daniels has one more year if he wants to come back. Hishaw and Morrison should be back at RB. Doug Emilien is the only receiver with any kind of experience coming back, and KU should be returning 3/5 of the OLine (C, RG, RT) so it won't be totally bare next season.

KU vs Duke Game Thread • Nov 24, 2024 06:14 PM

@kuballin10 I'm saying the opposite. I am saying don't focus on shutting down Flagg's scoring and with him, you do want to defend him inside out. He's only shooting 26% from 3, those are the shots you want Flagg taking. Flagg's also averaging 3 TO's per game which is why you stick KJ on him to force so TO's out of Flagg. Knueppel and Proctor are the two threats from 3 that need to be shut down since they're each north of 40% on a high volume number of shots. That's why I said shutting those two down is the biggest key for KU to win. If they slow down those two down, it's not going to matter too much what Flagg does.

KU vs Duke Game Thread • Nov 24, 2024 06:48 AM

Cooper Flagg will be the #1 pick next summer. KU isn't stopping him. You put Adams on him as much as possible to force him into some turnovers because he's averaging almost 3 per game and KJ can do that. Stopping Knueppel and Proctor from 3 should be the top priority on defense. Getting Hunter going on offense is KU's biggest key to win.

Jayhawk tackles Buffalo • Nov 24, 2024 01:52 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 said in Jayhawk tackles Buffalo:

Who's going to the championship game? Byu lost again.

There's a batshit insane scenario that could result in an 8 way tie for first at 6-3. ASU losing to Arizona would drop ASU to 6-3. BYU losing to Houston would drop BYU to 6-3. Colorado losing to Oklahoma St. would drop CU to 6-3. Iowa St. beating Utah tonight and losing to KSU next week would put both ISU and KSU at 6-3. TCU beating Cincy would put TCU at 6-3. Baylor beating Houston tonight and us next weekend would put Baylor at 6-3. And lastly the winner of the Texas Tech-WVU game would be at 6-3.

All us would prefer Baylor not reach 6-3, but an 8 way tie is a scenario that could happen.

Jayhawk tackles Buffalo • Nov 23, 2024 06:31 PM

A lot of people are pretty high on Kansas right now. Colorado is only a 2.5 point favorite so this is expected to be another close one

KU vs Duke Game Thread • Nov 23, 2024 06:19 PM

I'm actually flying out to Vegas tomorrow to go to the game. Looking forward to the game, but not necessarily looking forward the disruptions on the strip from the F1 track being disassembled after the race tonight.

As for the game, let KJ focus on guarding Flagg who has shown to be a bit mistake prone when pressured so far. If Duke wants to pressure, KU is going to tear that defense up. Two of Harris, Mayo, Coit, and Moore along with KJ who are all good enough ball handlers to beat pressure and press defense. Duke's defense is pretty good this year so bottom line is if KU makes shots, they should be able to win.

@kuballin10 Storr came here to be built into an NBA caliber player. Self knows how to turn marginal NBA talent into draftable players. Storr has many bad habits and tendencies that need to be broken in order for Storr to reach his full potential to benefit himself and KU and reach the NBA. KU didn't need someone who only shot 43% from the field, 32% from 3, and had over 30% usage rate, and played no defense like Storr did last season. We are seeing Self in the process of breaking down Storr to rebuild him into his full potential and if successful, will pay big dividends in March. This a repeat of what we saw Self do with Remy when he came he with a similar reputation as Storr.

Prior to Kansas, AJ Storr was known as a selfish ball hog who never played defense. And people think Storr didn't need to be broken down? AJ absolutely needed to be broken down from his bad habits so that he can be built back up into the NBA caliber player his talent suggests he should be.

There's only been 3 coaches to win 3+ championships since the NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985. Only 8 coaches have won multiple titles in the 64+ team era, 17 coaches total in NCAA Tournament history. It's really f-ing hard to win multiple titles and KU is blessed to have one of the 3 active coaches with multiple titles.

Self does has his flaws, so does every other coach.
