@Eric-san Yes, 1-5 in the Final Four is absolutely better than 2-7 in the Elite 8. That's 4 more opportunities than Self has had to win a title.
@Eric-san All those coaches I listed, they all have at least 1 title (same as Self), but ALL of them have far more Final Four appearances than Self. Calipari's 6 is the fewest among all of those other coaches. That's 4 more than Self and he does have a title as well.
You may want titles, but guess what? You have to get to the Final Four to have that shot and tge reality is Self has sucked in the Elite 8 with his 2-7 record.
@Eric-san I would strongly consider it. Calipari has made 6 Final Fours in his career. Other current college coaches I would strongly consider over Self would be Roy, Izzo, Pitino, and the one I would take for sure is Coach K.
They all have superior March/April resumes to Self, and yes, I would take the occasional NIT appearance if it meant better results in March/April.
@Hawk8086 Svi isn't graduating in May and with parents being educators, he's not leavimg without a degree unless he's a lottery pick and that's not happening.
Graham's draft stock has done nothing but plummet this year. He's a PG who played less and less of his position as the year went on. Graham needs next year running the show to be a 1st round guy.
@Bwag If Bragg doesn't grow a pair over the offseason, it doesn't matter what position Bragg plays. The kid is 6-10, 240 and will probably get stronger and add more muscle this offseason. He needs to play like it. Give him tape of T-Rob and tell Bragg to emulate on both ends of the floor.
Why would Newman leave? He wasn't good enough to after his freshman year and has done nothing to show NBA people those issues are fixed (scouts don't care what you look like in practice). Graham's not leaving. His play in the middle of the season killed those chances, and after the way he played last night, there's no way a projected late 2nd rounder at best should want his career to end that way. Svi's play all year killed his chances.
Bragg is definitely a question mark at this point, especially with the DNP last night and the reduction in minutes over the past few games and getting jumped by Coleby in the rotation.
Bill Self is 2-7 all time in the Elite 8, 2-5 at KU, and 1-4 as the higher seeded team at KU.
I'm not going to say fire Self because the only reason you would fire Self is if there was a better option available and there's not one out there.
I think Self puts too much pressure on himself to reach the Final Four. He's now 2-7 in the Elite 8 in his career. His teams almost always seem like they play much tighter than normal in this game. 2012 is the only E8 game I can remember where KU has played reasonably well in. Next time KU reaches the E8, somebody needs to slip Self some Ritalin, Vodka, or just something to mellow him out.
There's no way Graham and Svi leave at this point. Graham is only on one somewhat reliable mock draft and that's as a late 2nd rounder. Svi has dropped completely off the boards and may not even get a combine invite after the way he finished the season.
The 4 spot is the biggest question mark for next year. Graham, Newman, Svi, Vick, and Garrett is going to be a pretty good backcourt and Udoka and Coleby have the low post on lock down. The 4 spot is the biggest question mark for KU next year. Can Bragg finally play like a 6-10, 240 lb player that he's capable of being? Will Billy Preston ever play a game for KU because he's going to have academic eligibility questions hanging over his head. Can Lightfoot put on enough weight to earn some minutes and if not, will Self redshirt him so that Lightfoot can play against some more physical competition.
F Oregon! No damn class just like their punk ass coach.
Brooks took 3 steps there. That's tye bullshit calls that have impacted the game because of how many points they've gotten off of those missed calls.
@wissox It's not the number of calls, it's the ones they've missed. Oregon walking all over the place in the first half, Brooks not getting teed up for his shove on Jackson. It's the shit they haven't called that's been a big difference.
Quit shooting 3s and drive the damn ball!

I just can't get over the two fouls on JJ to open the game. Totally changed the outcome right from the start. I might be wrong, but it really sucked.
Exactly, and one of those a ticky tack call they haven't been calling at any other point.
And all the damn travels the refs missed in the first half on Oregon.
Tonight should be all the motivation Graham needs to return next year.
@BeddieKU23 When it changes your style of play, it's a big f-ing impact.
@BeddieKU23 They're missing all kinds of calls tonight that have made KU timid tonight. Ticky tack BS calls on us and not calling it tye same on them. That Brooks play damn well should've been a flagrant because that was not a basketball play.
These refs are worse than the Nova game last year. Completely taken KU out of their game tonight.
Jackson picking up those two quick fouls really changed the game and made everyone passive.
Played like Chickenhawks that half.
@wissox Says the guy responding to his own posts. No fiction, no malice.
@jaybate-1.0 I think H has happened already.
Time to kick ass and take names. Altman just wrote check his team can't cash.
Dillion Brooks is a concern because he's about as bad as Grayson Allen when it comes cheapnand dirty play.
@BShark Mack is an Xavier alum, he's probably a lifer there.
Indiana is going to hire Archie Miller from Dayton as their next coach.
@Statmachine Andrew White wouldn't have contributed to this team unless he redshirted here. Last season would've been his senior year here
@Lulufulu Roy has had 2 more chances to beat KU including in 2012 when he had a much more talented team amd failed to do so. A 4th meeting ends the same way as the previous 3, a KU victory.
KU is rested and as healthy as they've been all year. They are going to try and run everyone out of the gym because UCLA is the only other team in the field that can run with KU.
@Lulufulu 3-0. 2008 Final Four, 2012 Elite 8, and 2013 Round of 32.
@BShark Wisconsin still has a lot of players left over from their 2015 runner up team. Them and Gonzaga are the two best teams left on that side of the bracket.
@mayjay I was referring to regular season champs because Purdue and Oregon didn't win their tournaments.
Oregon loves to play zone. Time to shoot them out of the gym.
KU just beat the B10 regular season champs by 32 points in the NCAA tournament. Just let that sink in.
Mason, 26, 7, and 7. BIFM and the POY!
We're averaging 30 point margin of victory so far.
We got a shot at 100!
Chant has already started!
@wissox said:
The POY is still alive and standing as opposed to his challengers who will be watching the rest of the tournament on TV.
Lonzo is still alive
We already beat the SEC champs on their court, we just crushed the B10 champs, now we get the PAC 12 champs with the possibility of playing the ACC champs if we play UNC.
We want Tyler!
Graham, stop playing so good! I want you back next year dammit!
I want to see another Tyler Self 3 pointer tonight!
Can Mason play QB for us in September?
Vick showing up Jackson!
That running floater is beautiful
Josh Jackson is a better defender than Wiggins was.
