Tyler Self played before Mitch Lightfoot, welcome to 2016 folks!
I can't wait to see him next year when Hudy puts the muscle back on him because all he did this year was drop the baby fat.
How the hell is Azubuike only 17? He's gonna be a NPOY candidate next year and strong candidate to go #1 overall in the 2018 draft.
I said I would do the same thing as the UT game so what hell. KU pulls off the upset, ends the road losing streak and ends Snyder's career 28-27 when KSU misses a FG to win at the end of the game.
Monte Morris is ISU basketball this year. Slow him down, easier said than done because Morris is an All American caliber player, and ISU will wither.
@kjayhawks Fisher isn't going anywhere, he already turned down LSU this week and that's why they moved onto Herman.
@KUSTEVE I might argue Long Beach St. has played a tougher schedule than MSU so far with road games at Wichita St., UNC, Louisville, UCLA, and Washington already. They also come to AFH on Tuesday night so I personally would put their schedule up against anyone so far.
Another potentially huge domino is that Tom Herman could named the new coach at LSU as soon as Saturday. LSU is playing Texas A&M tonight and UH plays Memphis tomorrow so the timing makes sense.
This would be a huge blow to UT because Herman wasn't even LSU's top choice and could be enough to force them to keep Charlie Strong for another year due to lack of options beyond Herman at this point.
We know the one in Austin that should be official after this weekend, but there's another coaching change that's likely to be official next week as well. Baylor is apparently going to hire SMU coach Chad Morris to take over their program.
Morris is a long time Texas HS coach who has many strong connections in the state. He also spent 4 years at Clemson as their OC. Morris has long been one of the hottest names in coaching and he definitely fits the Big 12 style of offense. The biggest risk to Baylor is that Morris is an Aggie and with Sumlin's seat getting hotter each year in College Station, any success Morris has at Baylor will likely fuel speculation of Morris to A&M.
This is a really good hire for Baylor as they now have a HC who was a coordinator for national title contending teams at Clemson.

These are just for you @jaybate-1.0
@Lulufulu Adrenaline is a magical thing that when it's flowing, you don't appear as hurt as you may actually be. We don't know if Landen is hobbling around on non game days. All we see is practice and games where the adrenaline is pumping.
I can tell you that during football season, my body hurt 24/7 and I was usually moving slower than normal because of how sore I was. Once I put the pads on amd got out on the field though for practice or games, nobody would know how sore I was. I suspect this is the case with Landen and everyone else dealing with nagging injuries right now.
@Lulufulu Landen Lucas was spotted wearong a boot in Hawaii, there's definitely something going on there with his foot/ankle that we don't have all the details about at this time.
@BShark Frank Haith bought players at Miami and couldn't win with them.
Lucas and Coleby are playing less than 100%, Azubuike is a freshman who is showing the typical inconsistencies of a freshman, Lightfoot isn't strong enough yet.
Bragg is the only real disappointment, and even with Bragg, I agree with @jaybate-1.0 that Bragg is at less than 100%, but I diasgree with the cause. I don't believe it's tendinitis as jaybate opines. I believe it's literal growing pains. 6-8, 220 lbs. that Bragg played at last year is much different than the 6-10, 240 lbs. he's playing at this year. That's an adjustment that will take Bragg some getting used to and I'm sure his knees are pretty sore because my knees were always pretty sore any time I went through a growth spurt which was frequently considering I'm 6-5.
I think Bragg will end up being fine, but he's essentially going from a Marcus Morris type body to a Thomas Robinson type body amd there's an adjustment to ve made in his game with his new size. It'll take him time to get there, but I believe Bragg will figure it out.
Landen's foot is the issue with his dip in play. Sit him until Stanford at least (including practice), that gives him 10 days off to rest his foot or Self could probably even get away with resting Lucas until conference play starts and Stanford would probably be the only game KU would be in any kind of danger of losing.
I think Bragg is still learning how to play with his new body because he added a lot of muscle and he's still playing like the kid who got shoved around by everyone last year. I think it's just a matter of time before the light comes on for Bragg.
Udoka is going to be inconsistent because of his age, but in games where he goes full on beast mode, that's going to be fun to watch.
Coleby and Lightfoot are going to be guys who get DNP's on occasion because neither one at this point are capable of contributing significantly in long stretches. Lightfoot looks like he has Kevin Young potential, but with regular roster depth and talent, that's an energy guy off the bench.
KU has had a brutal travel schedule that I'm sure has meant they aren't practicing as much as Self would like and now that KU will be in a more normal routine (they aren't sleeping in different beds until they play UNLV in a month). Now is when we should start seeing the real development happen.
@Kcmatt7 KU doesn't have a lot of DB's returning next year. Smithson, Shaw, Allen, Bates, Olgetree, Graham, and Stewart are all seniors this year. Mike Lee is the only underclassmen getting big reps this year. KU needs help on the back end because they don't have much returning next year. There's a lot of good, young OLinemen that will be back and continuing to develop. DB, specifically safety, is the priority position right now because KU is losing almost everyone in the secondary after this season.
I'll say KU wins by 10-15 points tonight.
@kjayhawks He definitely announced after I redid this. I think I posted early morning and he announced around lunchtime.
@Kcmatt7 The secondary is the biggest need at this point because KU is already thin back there and where most of the upperclassmen on that side of the ball are. Defense was an important get for KU because of his position. A couple more OLIne would be nice, but the secondary is the top priority at this point in recruiting.
Best thing about Hasan Defense other than his name is that he'll have 3 years of eligibility when he makes his way to campus.
@kjayhawks That's what happens when you have no free time and fall asleep before the KU game is over.
They look great tonight.
@kjayhawks "plus hes scared to get touched. I say DB"
That statement is why I say WR. A guy who's hesitant to take a hit will be hesitant to deliver hits as well. With his size, I think he'd be a good fit as an outside receiver who can get a jumpball because Cozart is a pretty good athlete. That let's Sims and Gonzalez line up in different places on the field, especially in the slot where they can run crossing patterns and play off of Cozart's routes as well to get open.
I don't know if the original recruiting post was part of the purge or not, and I'm too lazy to check so here's the updated version of KU's 2017 recruiting class.

Bender, Stanley, and Starks should make for a good QB battle in the spring. Hopefully that means Cozart can finally move to WR for his final season and Ryan Willis can transfer to a program that's a better fit for his abilities.
@kjayhawks Here is Texas AD's Mike Perrin's statement on the matter and I'll take the word of the guy who actually makes the decision over ESPN.
“There are a number of rumors out there about the status of Coach Strong. I’ve said it all along, we will evaluate the body of work after the regular season,” Perrin’s statement reads. “We have a game to get read for against TCU on Friday, and I hope our fans will come out and support our team. We’ll discuss where things stand after that.”
While I have no doubt that Charlie Strong is done at UT, it won't be until after the TCU game on Friday as pretty strongly implied by the man who has final say on the matter.

This article also flat out says Charlie Strong will coach Friday before stepping down after that game.
@kjayhawks AD said pretty strongly implied Charlie Strong won't be fired until after the TCU game.
Vitale has become a caricature of a caricature of himself. I've read enough stories about Vitale that his on air personality is 100% shtick so I'm not as annoyed by him as others are.
Udoka looked absolutely clueless against Siena. Benching him was the right call because it was a bad match up for him just like Missouri was a bad match up for Jeff Withey. For young guys, sometimes sitting on the bench and watching the game can be more valuable than playing because the coaches can point stuff out to Udoka as it's happening that they wouldn't be able to if he was on the floor.
While a lot of bench time isn't good for young players, the occasional game like Siena was is not a bad thing because it's a different type of learning going on that can be just as effective.
@JayHawkFanToo Kingsbury and Beaty are very tight so I wouldn't rule it out. Kingsbury will be a sought after coordinator like Will Muschamp was after his disastrous time at Florida, so if Beaty wanted Kingsbury, he'd likely have to be on him immediately after the KSU game because I know A&M fans want him back if Sumlin survives.
If it wasn't for their relationship they built at A&M, I would say there was no chance of Kingsbury coming to KU, but that relationship and Beaty trying to run Kingsbury's version of the Air Raid means I wouldn't completely rule it out should Kingsbury get canned after Tech's game on Friday.
@kjayhawks The ISU/Texas Tech may have helped KU find an OC because yesterday may have gotten Kliff Kingsbury fired and Kingsbury and Beaty have a great relationship. Because Kingsbury's version of the Air Raid is the one Beaty wants to run, why not bring in Kingsbury who still is a brilliant offensive mind to run his offense. I don't know which position coach you fire because this seems like a solid staff worth trying to keep together, but it would probably ve Likens. If Beaty wants to work with a position group, let him work with the WR's since that's his background.
@stoptheflop KU has 100% of their nonconference schedule and ticket prices which can't get much cheaper compared to other major conference programs.
Not sure why ABC picked the KU/Texas game when they have 1st choice of games over Fox and still had the KSU/Baylor and OSU/TCU games to pick from.
@Lulufulu Didn't play UT in the OB season. Probably could've beaten them that year because I believe that was the year Colt McCoy had major concussion issues.
Big 12 may very well have 3 openings this year. UT for sure, it's just a matter of time now. Baylor has to clean house at this point now that the bottom has fallen out there and Texas Tech needs to dump Kingsbury because his ceiling is 7-8 wins.
Say what you want about UT, but the Big 12 is a better league when UT is contending for titles. It's fun to see power schools have a down year occasionally as a reality check, but to fall as far as UT has fallen is not good for the Big 12. Them being down has had a huge negative impact on recruiting which has played a big role in putting the Big 12 way behind the other P5 conferences contending for titles.
A contending UT is good for the Big 12 because it boosts every aspect of Big 12 football.
@KUSTEVE UT is all in on Tom Herman. Saban isn't leaving Bama and UT boosters know that at this point.
@wissox KU has only been responsible for 2 firings in the 7 seasons post Mangino. Strong and Hawkins at Colorado under Gill.
Charlie is owed a lot of money so it'll probably take some time to raise that money to fire Charlie which likely happens some time after Thanksgiving.
Didn't get to watch the game today. Guess that means I need to predict a KU win next week and not watch the game. 🐂💩🔥
I'll feel better about Preston next November when he plays in a meaningful game for KU.
Kansas has put a couple of scares into UT in recent history. What the hell, I'll pull the trigger and say KU pulls the upset 28-27 because UT misses a 48 yard FG to win the game.
@kjayhawks The game is actually going to be on ABC for whatever reason in Big 12 country and ESPN2 for everyone else.
@nuleafjhawk said:
@Crimsonorblue22 They're getting better. Plus, it's a home game. Plus it's basketball season and me, you and @kjayhawks are the only ones looking at football stuff. lol
I'm offended by that remark! I need a safe space now!
@BShark Most Duke fans never went to Duke and are TShirt fans. TShirt fans of any school are usually the worst fans because they have no real connection to the school.
I have encountered people who are actual Duke alums and the interactions I've had with them have been nothing but pleasant. The only 3 fanbases I've dealt with that involve tte alums also being delusional jackasses are Missouri, KState, and Kentucky fans.
Beyond those 3 groups, TShirt fans tend to be the cast majority of jackass fans out there, including KU's fans.
@Ralph I've assumed both to be overseas all along and I hope Self doesn't count on them playing next year.
Any player, specifically Duval and Preston, who plays overseas will be 100% because of academics and nothing else. No high profile player has ever gone overseas voluntarily they've all done so because they didn't qualify academically. Spots in Europe are limited to 3 American born players and those teams use those spots on proven players, not HS kids who may or may not be emotionally ready to live in a foreign country.
@Crimsonorblue22 Fortunately tomorrow is career day at my school so I don't have to do anything in the morning.
A shot of Tito's vodka to celebrate and relax so I can wake up at 5am tomorrow morning.
This is what Mason did 3 years ago to beat Duke.
@approxinfinity Can't go there with Mason being better than Sherron. To me, Sherron at his absolute best was always when KU went into Bramlage, especially the 2010 game during Sherron's senior season when KU and KSU were both legitimate top 10 teams and Sherron absolutely refused to let KSU beat him or KU.
@ralster Not all of Austin is liberal, once you get away from the downtown/UT area into the suburbs, Austin gets red really quickly like most other suburban areas in the south.
KU knocked off TCU last night in 4 sets, dropping the 1st and then dominating the next 3. The bigger news however is that Hilton Magic struck last night and Iowa St. upset Texas so KU is now sitting alone atop the Big 12 with 3 games left in the regular season.
