I just saw that. Still haven’t seen anything about hike cutting his schools to KU and Nova.
Philly is struggling though at 2-3. I think it’s clear Toronto and Boston are the top of the East.

JRE is officially down to KU & Nova... YIKES
Where did you see this at?
Also who and when was KU in to see him?

Arizona with another big recruit . Top 60 player.
Yep. KU will bounce back just fine as well, we will see how long it takes though.
Agree. Didn’t take Miller long at all.

Self was pretty upfront with how this is really effecting recruiting. We all assumed that, but thought it was noteworthy he said that.

I caught the last part of the interview. Coach Self does not seem too worried or at least does not sound like he is.
It's just PR 101. He's not going to talk to the media and paint KU or himself in a negative light. It would be an extremely bad look to do so
Yes I fully understand that.
However, even Soren mentioned how well and smooth he handled the interview.
I have been to the Big 12 tournament in OKC and Dallas. They are not even close to what KC has to offer. Dallas sucks because the arena is not convenient and there is not a central area for fans to hang out. The only positive is the weather. OKC has Bricktown, but I thought it sucked and was pretty boring. KC is just head and shoulders above any other option.
That was a pretty good interview with Self. He seems loose, and knows he has a talented squad. There is no doubt in my mind he would love nothing more to win it all this year to stick it to everyone.
Doesn't think losing Silvio really affects the team because of the depth.
Reiterates he is totally confident on how they conduct their business.
Self just said Doke and Dedric have solidified themselves as the starting bigs.
Self thinks this could help the teams focus.
This has had no effect on the team other than Silvio not being able to play tomorrow.
It has certainly effected recruiting.
Self is on with Petro right now.
Paraphrasing... Self is confident in the way KU conducts their business. It is uncomfortable to have his name and KU's name in a federal trial , but he also is not as concerned because he knows how he conducts his business.

Couldn't hear it. What did he ask or say?

While I am not holding my breath I am hoping he just gets a suspension. Sucks for Silvio.

Big 12 also announced this morning a 4 year series / challenge with the Big East. It will start next year.
So what do people think the effect if any on KU is if the verdict is guilty or not guilty... Is guilty better for KU does it matter?
No verdict again today / tonight. The jury deliberated until 830 ( Eastern) then called it a night. They will meet back tomorrow and continue at 930 .
Most seem to think the longer this drags out the better it is for the defendants.
Josh had a great first game, but his last two he is 2-12 from the field and his minutes are declining.
I just don't think a corner is going to make that much of a difference. The main problem with the Chiefs D is they can not stop the run or put pressure on the QB. Besides Ford ( Houston is hurt) they don't have anyone that can regularly pressure QB's. With Houston out Ford is seeing double teams and getting chipped on the edge with the back. Obviously having a player of Peterson's ability would help the defense it doesn't do anything to solve its main issues.
He grossly underperformed at Cal. He had Jaylen Brown, Ivan Rabb, Jabari Bird, and Jordan Mathews and couldn’t win a NCAA game.
I think Beaty is fired tomorrow or Monday.
There are thousands of reasons why Beaty should and will be fired , but his lack of offense production might be number 1. This offense looks like a high school offense. It lacks no creativity and is easily predictable.
I can not wait until that clown is fired.

Gross. Not only are they kicking our ass on he court they are going to come in and get a kid that KU has no excuse to lose. This one will hurt if it happens.
5* Top 25 player Oscar Tshiebwe just committed to West Virginia. Big time get for Huggy Bear.
@BShark I saw the KenPom rankings this morning and while I wasn’t surprised KU was #1 I was shocked by the margin as you pointed out.
Was also surprised at Texas being #16 seems a little high to me.
Also WVU at #10 and KSU at #12.

I did a quick search and it looks like from 1995-2005 39 players who skipped college got drafted. Some not even first round. That’s like 3-4 a year. Again, people over grossly over estimating the impact that will have.
@justanotherfan what I am telling you is that every single person that covers college basketball said yesterday that top players will NOT use the G League route. It will not benefit them more than going to college. I don’t think that is what you are understanding. I literally did not see one take where someone said this would be a good avenue for players. So assuming people that are in the game, cover the game, coached the game, etc... have a pulse then what you are saying is not going to happen.
@BShark I can’t remeber but how many guys used to go OAD? 10 maybe... he had your obvious talents and then there was always a couple guys that declared that flamed...
So 10-15 guys a year is not going to affect college basketball.
@BShark I don’t listen to him anymore at all or 610 for that matter. Not that 810 is that much better other than Soren.
He just wants to play the race card on EVERYTHING.
I don’t know if you follow him, but he was a huge Kayne fan and made that bracket of Kanye’s best 64 songs and it went viral. Like everyone that follows or likes that kind of music was talking about it. Then Kayne started his Trump thing and now he hates Kayne , feels sorry for him, etc... I thought that was pathetic.
@justanotherfan I just stated my thoughts on OAD. That’s not going to change the game either. It was that way before and CBB was just fine. Sure you will lose 10 or so players a year, but CBB will be just fine.
A sensible take from that hack. That’s surprising.
As for the one and done. The NBA said yesterday that the earliest it will change that rule is 2022. So let’s assume they do change it. It was that way before, correct? College basketball was just fine when players could go straight to the league. It will be just fine when they change the rule again. How many kids actually skipped college. 10-15? There will still be stars in college basketball, there will still be great storylines in college basketball, and the tournament will still be a cash cow.
Almost every single national sports writer or person who covers the game said that this will not entice top players to come to the G League. Players will get exposed and be over matched. They will get no exposure and be trading in chartered flights for long bus rides. I linked multiple people saying such yesterday. When this first came out I thought it was a game changer, but after reading some thoughts from people who cover the game I don’t think this will change college basketball what so ever. I think the only players that would go this route are players that don’t qualify.
Remember the kid from that was committed to Syracuse and the said he was going to the G league? After consulting people he decided against that. Why? Because he would get destroyed and exposed and his draft stock would plummet.
@justanotherfan you are grossly over estimating how many kids will use this path.
So there are quite a few people on this board that have stated their disappointment in all of this FBI case as it pertains to Coach Self and the program. So my question to you is: What exactly do you Chancellor Girod and AD Jeff Long to do??
Fire Self? Fire Townsend? External Investigation?
This isn't meant to be rude or anything I am honestly curious as to what people want their school to do?
1) I think Self was probably pretty upfront with Long during the hiring process. Remember Self sought out Long for the AD job and met with him. I don't think this totally blindsided Long. Also Long was the AD at Arkansas. You don't think he knows the name of the game?? He was in charge of a SEC football team for crying out loud!
2) I was just talking to some people today that this has to be annoying / frustrating for Self and I absolutely think it could change his career path. I am still not convinced he is a NBA guy, but he has always said he doesn't want to coach forever I would think this ups the timeline on his retirement date.

@Kcmatt7 this seems to be the sentiment of people that cover college basketball and the NBA on Twitter.
Almost all have mentioned the grind of the G league and that most kids will be exposed.
Man that would be a kick in the gut to miss on him.

Changes are coming.
This article states that the G league is going to offer 125,000$ contracts and target what would be 1 and done kids. Beginning summer of 2019.
I mean he wasn't called the bag man for a reason!
Now that he is gone how is their class looking this year? Have they missed on anyone?!
@cragarhawk You don't think NCAA hasn't known about this type of stuff for years? Of course they have but they look the other way. Why? Because the players are getting paid ( which most people believe they should) and ZERO dollars are coming out of there pockets. It is really not that hard to grasp. This is a billion dollar business not some Algebra final.
