@cragarhawk What consequences have happened? Nothing has happened and I fully expect nothing to happen to KU from this. SDS might become ineligible, but this won't be the first time a KU players has had to sit out. It happens every year across the NCAA.
Also, you have no idea how or what I would say if another coach or another school was "caught". Those guys you listed do the same shit and play the same game. If that is not something you can grasp then that's on you.
@cragarhawk Well actually it is different. Parents and or kids are not going to go to jail for taking money. This has been going on since the 60's and probably before and to my knowledge not one parent and kid has gone to jail. So yea it is different.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes it was Cliff's Mom who took a loan. I agree that it sucks that there are parents out there basically pimping their sons, but that's what the NCAA has created.
Yesterday in court it was said the Brian Bowen Sr. took 7 different payments from AAU teams and shoe / schools. He was getting paid for his kid to play on AAU team!! That blew my mind.
Now that JRE is done with visits has anyone heard on a decision timetable ? I think most believe it will be in the early signing period which is next month I believe so hopefully that’s still the case. I just haven’t read a whole lot afte his past visit.
I am interested / concerned too see if this FBI case will affect Self and his ability to get high level recruits. I think JRE’s decision will be very telling.

I actually just saw he was a healthy scratch. He played in the last preseason game so his knee is fine.
Did Graham get sent down to the G League? I was looking at the Hornets box score and it doesn’t list him. It list other players who have not played so it makes it seem as though he is not on the roster...

On the trial itself the jury is hearing closing arguments today.
@mayjay More compensation from whom? The NCAA is not going to compensate anyone and hurt their bottom line. People have been beating this drum forever, and they have taken a lot of heat the past couple of years and have not really budged.
If you are talking about other entities like shoe companies I think it is as simple as they want people to believe the sports are amateur and pure.

Remember when this first came out and KU wasn't initially listed or involved in anything? Tons of national writers all said that other coaches were saying "when is Kansas going to be dragged into this". Clearly it was pretty known of how KU operated. Not that it is any different than anyone else, but this was a Adidas thing and we are the biggest fish in the water.
I remember two summers ago I was playing golf with a big time donor and we were talking about recruiting and MPJ and Trae Young. I asked him if KU really had a legit shot at them and he said no. "There is no way Nike is not going to let them go to a Nike school". He was told that by someone on the staff.

Exactly @BShark . The NCAA has setup the system for it to work this way. Players are still getting money and families are being taken care of but a dime does not come out of their pocket. It is just like Wetzel said in the article I posted earlier. Does the NCAA dare look into Zion and Duke? Hell no! Why? Because everyone knows who Zion is and he is going to sell the sport and the tournament this year. He is going to make them millions of more dollars. oh and Coach K is one of the greatest of his time.
Here is the deal. If you are disappointed in Self then you are saying you would rather be irrelevant in the sport, because that is the only other option.

@mayjay I am not going to pretend to understand how this business of recruiting works, but I would think ( and have heard) that it is usually the team that sets up housing and cars.

I think the people that are disappointed are pretty naive. This has been going on since the 60's with UCLA. It happened in our backyard with Myron Piggie. This is the game of major college athletics.

@kjayhawks I agree. While the Champions Classic is great for KU and college basketball as a whole the games are usually pretty sloppy. A lot of it has to do with Duke, UK, and KU usually having so many freshman garnishing big minutes.

I think today was the worse day for Self and KU. I don't think there is anything there to vacate wins, fire Self, or anything like that. However, those text exchanges as @BShark said do not reflect well on Self.

I looked at the Patriots schedule this morning and I think they have only 3 games they could lose. This Sunday at Chicago, Minnesota at home, and at Pittsburgh towards the end of the season. I know they lost two earlier in the year, but adding Eddleman was huge for that offense. and Sony Michele is looking great as a RB.
However, that was by far the hardest part of the Chiefs schedule. I looked at theirs as well and I trying to be non biased see them at 13-3 possibly 14-2 with a win at Seattle.
As for the game I came away feeling this team can be special if Houston comes back and so does Berry. I personally am not sold on Berry coming back even though the Chiefs are saying they are confident, but what are they going to say? Berry will make a huge difference, and can take Gronk out of the game.
Also Mahomes two interceptions were a 10 point swing. Gave them 7 on the first interception and took 3 off the board before the half. If the Chiefs can somehow get home field advantage in January I love their chances of winning that rematch. At this point I am not sure who else is a contender in the AFC...
@Texas-Hawk-10 uou keep touting these games with just looking at the opponents record. When actually none of the teams are very good. For instance Cincy is a 3.5-4 point underdog at Temple this week who is 4-3. Cincy is not any good. Just because you are undefeated when you haven’t played anyone doesn’t make you good.
Temple has lost to Villanova and Buffalo. Temple is not good and is favored by 3.5 over this Cincy team you keep referencing.
